GAN GUANGLI!!!
And on a level, to me it makes sense he'd win here. Gan's always done the 'grows bigger as the fight goes on' thing, he's a snowball fighter who you beat by shutting him down before he can get going.
An attrition fighter would struggle with that naturally-they want to drain their foes dry and you can't do that if the other dude can just scale up stronger and stronger and smash you all at once.

Gan has proven that he isn't (just) a straightforward fighter without any depth to him. He knows that the world is a place of darkness and horror, where "Victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan". However, his understanding of his own limitations and outsiders' perceptions of him allows a triumphant victory.

I love this type of character growth/reveal. It also shows that one can be honorable, just, and straightforward without being a pasty or fool.

Man, this has to be one of the more "shonen" fights in the entire quest.
That final attack was specially epic. I'm imagining it Monkey D. Luffy style, but with golden fire.

I'm so glad to see Gan Guangli's efforts rewarded. To prove you can fulfill your duty and follow your ideals and still become strong.
As we saw at the end of the truce in FoD, too many "noble" cultivators don't doubt in behaving like bandits as soon as they see a benefit, things start to get difficult or think they can get away with it without consequences.

Like Gan Guangli said, I hope he becomes an example and inspiration for this new generation of cultivators.

Lu Feng talks about Gan Guangli playacting the hero but he got drawn into what looked to be a pretty typical battle of good and evil. Half expected him to denounce the evils of truth and love as a victory speech. Fun and thematically appropriate turnaround, even (sorta) got Glorious Oppression Mum's approval.

Fuck yeah Gan LET'S GOOOO!

As Lu Feng hung stunned for a moment, Gan Guangli, still wrapped from head to toe in parasitic vines rose to his feet, and with a roar, took a step forward, snapping the bindings around his legs. "Let me be a fool then Lu Feng! I am a shield, not for my Lady, who needs no such thing, but for all below. A leader must be an example and inspiration, who shows that virtue is its own REWARD!"

Fucking hell I wanna see Gan walk into a room with this guy:

They're like negaverse versions of each other!
