There is no mechanical penalty for your injury.

At first I was like " well that's weird, it seems pretty severe" but then I realized that this is wartime and we were on a Sect Mission so we're actually getting good medical attention from the Sect instead of the usual "Well if they don't have to pay for it themselves how will they learn? "

As a voice in support of buying a talisman now rather than later:

Also, I kinda want to see our basic new art suite first, which we'll get with the Ji Rong spar.
The spar and a perception talisman are basically unrelated aspects of the build; against Ji Rong we'd be showing off our new combat capability wheras a talisman aims to shore up an existing weakness where neither our skills nor arts are well-suited at unknown threat detection.

I actually think that a well-chosen talisman can better set the stage for a potential additional perceptiveness skill pickup; making something to serve as both training wheels and later a powerful focus tool should be within the abilities of a Core craft disciple.

It's not like we'd get to derive an entire new perceptiveness skill before picking up such a talisman since we'd only train the skill at like turn 10 and then wait for turn 11 or 12 to get the derive, leaving us with 4-5 turns with basically our current perception to contend with dancer-type shishigui.

Lastly;
I would like to concur with the "let's hold off on talismans for reasons of narrative space, and maybe buy multiple at once next turn or the one after."
I don't think this argument holds water. We've had a scene where we went shopping with Meizhen for Hanyi's talisman dress and locket. Yrs is more than capable of turning a senior talisman purchase into a satisfying and meaningful scene, especially if we're aiming it as advanced-skill foundation.

For the same reason I'd be against going for multiple-talisman purchase together, at least for LQ where our talismans all serve different roles. It would be more appropriate for when we pick up equipment for Zhengui.

Personally I see no point in bothering with a Perception Talisman when we aren't even sure if we're going to shoot for a new perception skill or not. That and if we're buying any kind of talisman, I'd prioritize either the flute, or equipping our spirits before we get to a talisman for something that...doesn't really need immediate attention.

If she were able to move, she would have jerked. "Who…" Ling Qi's voice echoed back to her, bouncing from the shimmering barrier that Sixiang had formed around her. But she recognized that voice, not the sound of it, but the feel of it. "Why aren't you helping them," Ling Qi hissed into the dark.

"Why should I? There's quite a nice little story going on out there," the voice replied. It no longer sounded like a woman, the voice of that spirit, but the unpleasant edge remained. "I'm a sucker for desperate last stands, you know?"

Ling Qi felt her prison shudder as Zhengui pulled back into his shell under the lash of ribbons, and felt him tremble as they bit into his shell and drew blood. This thing wasn't Bian Ya's spirit, that much was now clear. Bian Ya wouldn't bind an unwilling spirit, and a willing one would help. What was it though, a muse like Sixiang? That didn't seem quite right. "...How are you even talking to me. Who are you?"

"Heh, good dreams can never keep nightmares at bay, you know that pretty well I'd think," the voice whispered. "And wow, I have to give it to you, what you've done to my sappy cousin here? Great stuff. Never would have thought I'd see one of them twisted until they could still themselves like this on purpose. Wow that's gotta hurt."
Its a good reminder here - theres a dark side to everything. And where there are dreams there are nightmares.

Also a nifty thing I spotted:
"It's a pretty bad situation, huh," a voice whispered in her ear.
Bad for who? The Argent disciples lost in the Liminal realm, or the Shishigui fighting superior numbers in an environment where the very qi pains them?

Its definitely a desperate last stand for them. Even in victory they cannot escape.
"Mmph, that's some good stuff too, that girl is a feast, but that boy out front…. Look at him go, gonna kill himself for a bunch of people who barely know his name. How tragic," the open ecstasy in the spirits voice was deeply unnerving.
This one is a neat trick, because everyone here knows Xuan Shi, and there have been a bunch of very awkward but funny scenes.
Its the Shishigui again, they might well only know him by his rank.

If she had just been stronger than this…

"If you hadn't wasted so much time, maybe you could have been," the spirit, Kongyou murmured. "But hey, no judgement, it's easy to get complacent you know? Thought you could afford to play around with the kiddies. Well, here we are, look how much difference it's made."
KyubeyTruth: All true words.
-Ling Qi COULD have been stronger if she spent all her time cultivating only. Might. Maybe.
-It really is easy to get complacent, but she's never been.
-She played with the kiddies. Look how much difference it made:
Hanyi just wasn't strong enough, her songs barely spread frost across the attacking growing serpent's nest of striking ribbons. Zhengui was enduring, but that was all.
Hanyi is hitting a Green 7 and actually impeding.
Zhengui is tanking a Green 7's blows.

Sure as heck it was a lot of difference!

"A story is a story you know, one persons victory is another's loss. Confidence and surety crumbling into helpless rage as you die, far far from home or anyone who could save you knowing that your people, the ones you swore to protect will be next, that's a flavor too."
Ling Qi is pretty sure even if her group falls the ones behind would be in good stead.
Not so for the Shishigui
It took Ling Qi a second to understand. The spirit was talking about the Shishigui. She shoved the thought out of her head. But…

What was she thinking?

Ling Qi blinked as the thought rose through her increasingly panicked thoughts, cutting through the noise in her head.

Domain Immunity to Compulsion Activates
It does seem a lot like most of the dialogue was using 'mundane' skill to mislead, the compulsion trigger was just at the end to bar her making the connection.

Convincing.
