Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I keep forgetting that the house sized turtle has ranks in stealth and knows how to hunt from ambush. It weirdly reminds me of the T-rex scenes from Jurassic Park, and now i'm wondering if turtles can roar.

In terms of skill, Zhengui trumps stealth over Hanyi.

Hanyi trumps him in its derivative state overall cause of her significantly higher Dexterity

I do hope my theory early on holds water, I want to see Su Ling be the hero for once!

(Also, this is literally the only circumstance I can think of that would conceivably get Su Ling and Gan Guangli to interact with each other on the same wavelength, and those two have some pretty compatible core viewpoints, the problem is that neither of them would willingly interact with the other outside of extenuating circumstances because their prejudices get in the way)

She could already feel the assassin slipping free, their wrist growing still softer, almost boneless in her grip as they tried to slip away, but all the same, she heard a high pitched almost canine wail of pain as Xiulan cast a blinding white lance from her fingertips. Barely more than a finger wide, it was not just flame, nor lightning. It seemed almost liquid behind the shimmer of heat, a lance of sunlight, devastating in it's purity.
Skill unlock: Xiulan discovers Plasma.

Ling Qi had only a moment to brace herself as a beam of sunlight, raw and pure struck her. Her shoulder and neck lit up with renewed pain, and the frozen blood shutting her wound boiled off into so much mist. Ling Qi felt something like liquid fire injected directly into her body and spirit, scouring veins physical and spiritual of corruption and toxin.
...
That sounds like Ling Qi now has some deep inner burn wounds instead of mere poison...
Also, is there a reason why she didn't pop a few tic-tacs healing/qi pills ?
I refuse to believe that Ling Qi's first reaction to... any problem is not "take some/more drugs"!

Yanderess must be very displeased, first she fails to stop an attack on Ling Qi and then she's removed for some trashy silver thing that's deluded enough to think it can adorn her Ling Qi.
The shock of being removed from Ling Qi might even be enough to awaken the spirit within !
I mean with the shonen protag skill we just got it makes sense...

I just wanna say i finally figure out what I was reminded of. It's harry potter.

Mostly the "magical school" has been devastatingly attacked by terrorists.

....

you think any panicked parents gonna get their kids pulled out of the sect, damn the consequences?

Almost certainly not, atleast not many.
This is not a school for children, magical or otherwise, this is a school for officers, soldiers, nobility.
Getting hit at the start of a war is kinda expected, they are a major military target.
And trying to pull your kid out would send a very poor signal to other noble houses (and non nobles probably won't be given a choice due to economical reasons).

Some might choose to pull their kids out, not out of panic, atleast outwardly, but to "consolidate forces" and "prepare for the war".

Inner Sect disciples are no longer considered 'children', just they aren't of the older generation. So while some might leave, there is little excuses to, especially as the sect will know how to give proper incentives for people to stay.

I doubt the outer sect is going to be in a war footing though, as they are simply not strong enough to be of significant help, and are kids. They aren't stronger than random yellow guards for the most part, and nobles won't want their kids to be thrown through the grinder when they have barely begun cultivating. While they wouldn't pull them out if it happens (because Shenhua be crazy), what would happen is that next year there will be zero new noble children going to Argent Sect. After all, it's not like they can't go to any of the other dozen Great Sects instead.

Obviously, there might be exceptions, like Wen Ai (fully green) who could be convinced to be going to war in exchange for an immediate entrance to the inner sect. Su Ling, too, I guess (though she isn't a noble).

What is the distiction between Sect and C(ontribubution?) Points? The store only lists purchses available in sect points, but they were more valuable from memory... Shaman quest with Su Ling?... or perhaps I've confused with another xianxia

All right, I'm actually going to vote this time!

[X] Shockwaves (Su Ling)

It's been too long since I've seen what's going on with our budding matricidal friend. Gotta check in with the peeps, much as I want to see how Xiulan is handling things.

Missed the vote, but would have probably picked Xuilan to get an objective view of Zhengui and her spirit's synergy in combat.

That said, I'm assuming shockwaves is literal and metaphor so Id like to see
  • Update on her spirit beast, I think the last update we got was from Bai junior who approved of her intruder ass kicking methodology.
  • I assume the attack was timed so that he was training the his outer sect advanced physical cultivation, thus Bai junior and Su Ling were in it.
  • Just read the Illusion training apocrypha, and I think id like to see something about her combat or craft development discussed with a trainer. Perhaps see her taking pill development and study seriously. More generally Im hoping to a see a maturing attitude and social circle (soldiers at least given her life goals ... heh Bai Jnr's charity case?)
  • Amusing comparisons and accusations of second mountain blowing up and forcing outer sect to run for cover again, and LQ being involved again
  • "PAX AU TELEMANUS!" - 5 Internet points to any who get the obscure character reference without Google

Contribution points are the ones used in disciple challenges. They have not been shown to have other uses yet, but some suspect a certain minimum is necessary to go past the significant contribution to the sect locks (500, 100, 10)
