What is the distiction between Sect and C(ontribubution?) Points? The store only lists purchses available in sect points, but they were more valuable from memory... Shaman quest with Su Ling?... or perhaps I've confused with another xianxia
Contribution points is how you climb the ladder after a certain point. It's how they insure that if you want to have a high rank you are doing useful shit for the Sect like saving villages or running the clinic for the Outer Sect. You can't just be a nerd in a closet then bust out a duel and expect to get into the highest ranks. It's why Luo isn't higher because he really doesn't give a shit about getting much higher he's here to hang out and be in the orbit of CRX

I thought that was sect points? And she wasn't strong or rich enough to get them early on, thus winning library access was critical

Contribution points are the ones used in disciple challenges. They have not been shown to have other uses yet, but some suspect a certain minimum is necessary to go past the significant contribution to the sect locks (500, 100, 10)
That rings a bell. I couldnt see them listed on the resources page anywhere. She has ~100 now after 3 challenges, 30 for Shaman and 50 for recent battle I think?

Edit: Thanks @Raising Kittens, cant believe I missed that - I found the sect point total and went shopping prior to posting too... *sigh*

They're listed on the Character Sheet, under the Inventory spoiler, in the Currency tab.

Please note that this isn't up to date.

10 for making the Inner Sect, 10 for the Shaman, 10 for finding Yuan He's Uncle's former love-nest, 5 for the first scouting run, and 50 for the recent Event, for 85 in total.

She has yet to spent any.

If you challenge someone and win, you get your points refunded. If you get challenged and lose, you lose no points. If you get challenged and win, you gain the points the other person placed on the challenge. Only known ways to lose CP is to get challenged and refuse or to challenge and lose.

And no, they are different from Sect Points, Sect Points only buy stuff. We have been using CP to challenge all along.

Apparently he uses his Strength (B) for Hit for his Blazing Blood techniques, so he's actually not bad for accuracy.
EDIT: Unless you're referring to the incrementing decrease?
The incrementing decrease yeah.

That said, @yrsillar the bit which goes "Enemies within Near distance suffer from the splash", does it refer to Near range from the target, or Near range from Zhengui?

If its the former it'd make some nice flak in that if you can dodge, but can't get out of Near range you still eat D damage, if the latter I'm not sure whats the point since he has way better options in Near range for AoE.

Sect Points are basically the Sect's internal currency, and like company scrip in corporate towns, most of the shops ONLY take Sect Points exclusively, theoretically removing the . You get them from doing economic/maintenance tasks for the Sect.

Contribution Points are basically the Sect's reputation score, and not spendable at our rank except to blow off challenges. We've been informed that there may be a Contribution Point shop in the upper ranks/Core Sect, which PROBABLY is alone the lines of "Elder takes time out of their schedule to do something for you", but we don't have enough details to do more than guess. You get them by doing strategic tasks for the Sect's interests. Most people seem to get them by military action.

So, with the Sect shifting its footing, most likely moving to a wartime footing, what changes do people think there will be regarding how the Sect operates on a day to day level? I'm thinking that while individual training becomes harder to get (given everyone is doing other things) I would also think that the Sect will be pumping more resources into the inner sect and even possibly the outer sect. As we've just seen in the last arc, a sufficiently powerful Argent Sect Officer can do pretty amazing things in terms of defending a location or achieving an objective and one of the key ways that their officers can get more powerful is by spending money on them.

I'm also not entirely sure about how the current challenge system will change, or even if it will. It would seem more prudent to have people focusing on combating the Cloud Nomads rather than planning on how to defend or advance via the challenge system. But the challenge system also provides another source of drive for people to get better, which helps against the Cloud Nomads.

Either way, it will be interesting to see exactly what, if anything, really changes about the day to day operations of the Sect with the transition to more of a war footing.

High level training probably gets harder to obtain, people being busy and whatnot, but intermediary training from inner sect disciples might actually get easier, under the logic that you need to do something to get people to useful levels faster, and the inner sect disciples are more numerous, and less critical at the front, than masters.

Interlude: Shockwave (Su Ling)
It was weird how something as gating as stone scraping across metal could be seem tranquil. Then again, thought Su Ling, before today, she'd never really thought about what higher cultivation meant. She breathed deep, in time with the scrape of the whetstone across the blade laid across her lap, and glanced up at the tremendous barrier of stone that rose up a few meters beyond the border fence she had parked herself on. It curved up and up, a vast dome that contained the whole town and its immediate outskirts.

It wasn't even that, not really, she'd seen Elder Ying reshape the landscape before, dropping a whole section of the forest to create a new valley. Somehow, until today though, it hadn't really clicked. Her ears twitched in agitation as she closed her eyes and echoes of what she'd seen throughout the day. A whole section of the forest flipping up like a trapdoor and arachnid limbs reaching out to drag under centipedes bigger than houses. The ground writhing with gross fungal things boiling up from the valley only to be torn apart by lashing branches and roots or dragged down squealing and screaming to be re-entombed in the earth. The earth shaking and the sky splitting apart, the miasmic haze of illusory qi twisting whole sections of the forest into inescapable labyrinths.

"It is frightening, but you performed beautifully, my master. Through your benevolence, lives were saved and is that not enough?" Su Ling glanced at up at the feeling of the weight on her head shifting, tiny claws finding purchase in her thick, curly hair.

"That's one way to look at it Ci," she drawled, glancing up to see her spirit's fuzzy snub nosed face peering down at her. Mostly it just reminded her how irrelevant she was.

"Please do not shorten my name Master, I am proud to be Cibei, the mercy which raise up those trodden upon by injustice!" The little bat said with a frustrated squeak. Though she early second realm now, the spirit hadn't grown much larger, wasn't the type for it, and that suited Su Ling just fine.

"Just fuckin with ya," she snorted, looking back down at her sword. With a sigh, she tucked the whetstone away, she was just going to damage her blade if she kept going. "I know we helped people, don't need you being my hype girl."

"On the contrary Master! Here you sit, morose on the eve of victory. My words are obviously needed!" Her mouthy spirit rebutted.

"Yeah, well," Su Ling began, only for her ears to flick as she heard familiar heavy footsteps.

"So this is where you went to hide Miss Su!" She grimaced, her ears lying flat against her skull as Gan Guangli's booming voice reached her.

"It sure is," she said dryly, not turning around to look at him. Him and his guys might have been the only ones to follow her, after the Elders had declared the truce reinstated, on pain of expulsion.

"And why should the heroine of the hour be alone at a time like this?" Fucking hells how could anyone pack that much pep into their voice, he was like a big dumb puppy. At least he had enough respect for her space to stop a few steps away.

"You're lot are the ones who did most of the work," she replied gruffly, prompting Cibei to let out a high pitched squeak of protest.

"Though it shames me, without your words, I would not have thought to come here," Gan Guangli replied, dropping the overblown pep for a moment. "In my complacency, I thought to fortify my own, with no thought that the Sect might need aid."

Oh the Sect didn't, but the village did. She'd been down in that pit with Suyin enough that she knew earth and rock weren't much of a barrier to those things. When she'd scented that oily, rotten stink on the air, she'd had a bad feeling that the dome Elder Ying has raised would not be enough. The town never had too many soldiers in it at the best of times. "A messenger ain't a hero," she shot back stubbornly.

"I dare you to walk through the outer village, look upon the faces of the people there, celebrating their survival, and say so," Gan Guangli said calmly. She hunched her shoulders, scowling somehow she liked him better when he was acting like a feckless moron. "Though it is true that I and my followers fought most, your divination guided us, where would we be without our eyes?"

Her gut had been right, mighty as an Elder's power was, with everything going on, some things wormed through the gaps, things beneath the notice of the titans clashing outside, but for a bunch of mortals, a few first realms things crawling out of their basements and sewers weren't so trivial. The city center was safe, guarded by soldiers, but there just weren't enough to cover the whole village.

"Maybe I just don't like company," she finally replied, refusing to argue with him anymore. They can celebrate better without people like me reminding them of how bad things almost got anyway."

"Mm, a good point perhaps!" Gan Guangli said cheerfully, her stomach sank as she heard the thump of his armored behind hitting the ground with a crash like a cart falling off it's wheels. "Powerful cultivators are often intimidating, even when we do not mean to be!"

"...Can you just not take a hint or what?" Su Ling finally asked, glancing over her shoulder.

"I am told that I am obtuse at times," Gan Guangli agreed cheerfully, the sturdy fence creaked ominously as he leaned against it, a few paces away. "If you wish me to leave, I will do so Miss Su, you have but to ask."

"...Do what ya want," Su Ling grumbled. turning her gaze back to the wall of stone. Cibei laughed at her, the traitor.

Things were silent for several long minutes. Su Ling had to hand it to him, the oaf was stubborn, she'd never seen him be quiet for this long. "Why'd you come? Truce is on, but that just means no violence, Lu Feng's boys have probably taken a bunch of your shit by now."

"I think you underestimate Miss Xiao somewhat," Gan Guangli replied. "However, it is irrelevant, resources can be regained. If we cannot safeguard our people, then what good are we?"

"Bet that's not how you'll put it in your report to the boss," Su Ling replied dryly.

"It is precisely how I will put it, if perhaps in more formal prose," Gan Guangli laughed. "Lady Cai has no use for sycophants among her direct servants. I follow her because her beliefs mirror mine. No rather, my beliefs are built from hers."

She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. "That so," she replied, making her disinterest clear.

The oversized boy raised his hands in defense. "I am not here to lecture or expound."

"So you're not still trying to recruit me?" Su Ling asked sarcastically.

"Of course I am. You are a courageous and virtuous woman, I would be most pleased to have you on my side," the cheeky fucker grinned at her.

Su Ling tilted her head, letting her long hair cover the dusting of color that rose on her cheeks. Stupid instincts. "Whatever, not interested in playing soldier."

"As you wish Miss Su," he said, falling silent.

She wasn't going to subordinate herself, Su Ling thought, looking out at the blank expanse of stone. Things were changing though, she didn't know the details of what had happened, but there was blood in the air, her insights were vague things, but… she couldn't help but feel like something fundamental had shifted, she heard drums in the sky and howls under the earth. Things couldn't stay the same. "Enough with the Miss garbage. My name is Su Ling, use it."

AN: Alright, no major decisions to be made here, will start working on the first post of the next arc over the weekend. However this is a good point to throw in a minor vote, you guys maxed out woodwind during the event, so you have two training dice to reassign.

[] Skill trained?
