What about a whale? We have a dragon that can help us hunt!
We could have matching coats with Alicent though!A mammoth cloak would be a tad too big even for Rhaenyra, but a mammoth carpet... hmmm... no, their fur is probably too coarse for that. Although a skull would make for an awesome trophy.
Maybe hunt a Kraken around the Iron Islands.
For Rhaenyra, yes.
Clearly we should stop at Greywater Watch and bag a lizard-lion
According to some Maesters, Sea Dragons live in the Sunset Sea.
Thankfully we're not fighting Ice Dragons because they're one of the few things I won't even pretend Rhaenyra and Syrax have a chance against. And according to sailor (mostly whalers) reports that are strangely consistent, the north of the Shivering Sea (i.e. the ocean on the other side of the North), on the latitude of the Lands of Always Winter, is the hunting grounds of Ice Dragons - twice as big even Balerion the Black Dread, made of living ice, with a breath not of fire but of extreme cold.
Well, I wouldn't think we're fighting sea dragons, either.Thankfully we're not fighting Ice Dragons because they're one of the few things I won't even pretend Rhaenyra and Syrax have a chance against.
I mean you are definitely going to have to wait until Viserys is dead because he's never gonna let Rhaenyra go beyond the wall to do that.Though I like that formulation of yours. Maybe we should give mammoth hunting a go then
The matchup assumes Rhaenyra and Syrax are both present, so we'd have to see if our bestest friend will even consent to cross the Wall. Silverwing didn't.Well, I wouldn't think we're fighting sea dragons, either.

It would be funny if we triggered an early invasion of the Others, because we inadvertently crossed the magical truce line... so we can hunt mammoths. The matchup assumes Rhaenyra and Syrax are both present, so we'd have to see if our bestest friend will even consent to cross the Wall. Silverwing didn't.
But like, unironically if you do another Progress at any point either as heir or Queen, I would be willing to to have one of the goals be basically enacting big game hunts across the realm.
The really big game is in Sothoryos though.I mean you are definitely going to have to wait until Viserys is dead because he's never gonna let Rhaenyra go beyond the wall to do that.

Just imagine the type of game that might be found in the Shadow. The really big game is in Sothoryos though.
Wyverns. Dinosaurs. Tower sized gorillas.
Everything the discerning biggest game hunter could wish for.
Yeah it needs to be said, Cannibal is pretty darn big. It doesn't hunt bigger Dragons but it's not a push over.I think Viserys would really, really hate it if we went after a feral dragon. Even with Syrax.
Mmmmmm. Calamari.
Cannibal is, however, the problem for reproducing Targ dragons, and removing them from the equation would secure the dynasty all that much more. Perhaps when it has more dragons and riders at its command than Rhaenyra, though?Yeah it needs to be said, Cannibal is pretty darn big. It doesn't hunt bigger Dragons but it's not a push over.
Beyond dragons, who'd fly far afield for thier food, assuming they weren't sustained by the mystical energies of the place? Probably none. Nothing grows there for game to eat save ghost grass, and animals don't survive long by the Shadow.Just imagine the type of game that might be found in the Shadow.
I highly doubt there aren't other types of magical creatures there.Beyond dragons, who'd fly far afield for thier food, assuming they weren't sustained by the mystical energies of the place? Probably none. Nothing grows there for game to eat save ghost grass, and animals don't survive long by the Shadow.
