I wonder if Borros' behavior might be something we can throw in his face if we ever talk to him and he bitches about his (our) family not respecting their blood ties. He talks about respect when he didn't put Peake down.

[X] [Manderly] Refuse

I'm tempted to make a write-in saying that we're not marrying for the next several years but offering to keep him in mind and suggest exchanging letters but the action crunch means there's no way we'll have time for that. Also, deposing the Peake's based on a centuries old claim when they've not really done anything warranting it (yet) seems like a terrible decision. Hard pass on that one.

[X] [Mystery] "The Silver Falcon", A Silver Falcon Diving Downward upon a Field of Red.
[X] [Melee] Enter the Melee

Jousting is pretend-fighting for nobles. The melee is the real deal and we probably have a better shot of winning it anyway so I'm fine with both.

Since @Teen Spirit gave me permissions to post a mild spoiler, here are the tourney brackets.

??? - Rhaenyra
The Scarlet Spear - Another mystery knight
Long Derrick - Hedgeknight from the North
Lann Pyke - Hedgeknight from the Iron Isles
YES!

Our first match is the future father of our baby!

This shall be a great tale to tell in our version of "How I Met Your Father", Westeros edition, to our little Kermit.

[X] [Manderly] Refuse
Yeah, no thanks. Maybe try to reject him in a manner that preserves relations with the Manderlys, but I'm not too fussed if Rhaenyra socks him in the jaw.

[X] [Mystery] "The Knight of the Laughing Tree", A Weirwood Tree with a Smiling Face
[X] [Mystery] Write-in (Provide a Name and Sigil, Subject to QM Approval)
-[X] The Knight of Dragonflies, A black dragonfly upon a red field

[X] [Melee] Stay out, Focus on the Joust

I'm likely to be outvoted, but I'm worried that this'll dig up our PTSD from executing Arnold, and having a panic attack in the middle of a grand melee is a one way trip to Bad Times- whether it's us that gets injured, or killing someone we really shouldn't have killed.

"My Princess, it would do me a great honor if you would considering joining our two houses together," Ser Medrick said in a clearly practiced speech. "Let me be the sword at your side, protect you from all who would do you harm and give counsel when you have need of it. I will not seek to rule through you, but beside you, if you would take me as your consort."

You sat there, frozen, almost petrified with fear at the sight of the man before you. Every part of your body wanted to run away right now, perhaps screaming as you did so for good measure.

"I am willing to bet that most lords are sending their marriage offers to your father, treating you like any other princess that had come before you," Desmond Manderly spoke, a cool expression on his face. "They forget you are heir. It felt only right we should make this offer to you directly."
Huh...

A sudden proposal out of nowhere is a bit tactless when trying to court a princess, let alone the heir to the crown
The proper way to do these things would be to reach out to the Targaryen's via letters to feel the matter out

I know that Manderly's provided rationale is that he's attempting to treat with her directly as a sign of respect, but the way to do that without ambushing her out of nowhere is to address a set of letters (or have his son do it) to her along with whatever they'd be discussing with Viserys, as to include her input and opinion on the matter
And emphasizing an offer to formally introduce his son to Rhaenyra to see how they got along and let him court her for a few months

And if it's because they only started considering it just recently now that she's reached the age of majority then there's still less presumptuous ways to broach the topic than skipping straight to Medrick getting down on one knee and proposing a betrothal on the spot

Not suddenly springing an outright proposal on her when she's alone via private meeting

It honestly comes across to me more like trying to pressure Rhaenyra into a hasty decision

Come on, Knight of Dragonflies is cool.
@Teen Spirit I assume such a shield would work?

I am kind of taking inspiration from his behavior in the book where he basically demanded a marriage between Rhaenyra's third son and his daughter in exchange for his support, not even the North's support, just his. He's a bit bold and grasping.
