Man, I was coming around to the hightower triad idea, but a close fought match while Rhaenyra's hopped up on the good shit against Harwin sounds like it's gonna be interesting lol. I look forward to the shipping war going hot.

I will say in support of Hightower triad: endless jokes about loving Alicent "like a sister."

I'm remined about this bit from the fanfic To Forge an Heir:

"Yes, by betrothing himself to my … closest companion," the princess said. "I do not care about my position. I care that it is her!" Lyman could see the princess's knuckles whiten from the grip she had on her bow.

"I know that you and the Lady Alicent were as close as sisters-" Lyman began.

"As sisters?" The princess interrupted, letting out a slightly hysterical laugh. "Well, I suppose I am a Targaryen after all!" Lyman did not know what to make of that last comment but did not have time to ponder it as the princess kept speaking. "There is no gain to him marrying Ali- Lady Alicent. There was not even a dowry!"

Although, I am personally thinking we should wed Laenor (for House Velaryon's Dragons) and marry Gwayne to our good friend Rhea Royce in the hopes that this might help get Otto on-side. After all, his son (who is set to inherit nothing) gets to marry the heir to Runestone, The Second most important Lordship in the Vale. Additionally, his son will be replacing his hated enemy Daemon, which is got to worth something to Otto.

Well a good thing is that Harwin, unlike Cole, is not going to find his defeat emasculating... Hell, for what we have seen I am pretty sure that he will be quite smitten by Rhaenyra...

It is a shame that we didn't get to talk with him tough...

I haven't read for a week and all this embezzlement happens.

As I said in a previous comment. It's time to start taking measures for our future reign. Deimon is undoubtedly already our enemy. If he isn't, his children will be.

We will have that throne no matter what. Even if Wessteros has to burn for it.

I'd prefer to wait on stuff like that until we can act in our own right. Right now we can talk to people and suggest things, but we can't do stuff like purge the Goldcloaks of Daemon's supporters directly.

Another thing to remember is that Viserys loves his brother and is willfully blind to potential conflict between people with the last name Targaryen. We can't ask Viserys to purge Daemon's supporters in the Goldcloaks because we foresee conflict with Daemon. We have to find something else, like that they're corrupt.

I'd generally be in favor of using our role as arbitrator to slant things against any daemon supporters, but another thing is that the only house that seems particularly Daemon-aligned right now is the Velayrons, and I'm not sure there's much appetite for alienating them.

So I'm doing a reread of the Quest, and with future knowledge it's interesting to see how things could have wildly branched off early on, however, I also came across the "Investigate the Death of King Aenys" action.

Now given that the prequesite for that action was done all the way back in Turn 1, I largely forgot about it, and I'm sure a few have too, but having reread it, it might be a really good action to take once the Progress is done, since the whole thing might clear Visenya of the murder of King Aenys and give Rhaenyra a useful precedent for a woman ruling in her own name.

That and also it seems like a good conversation topic between Rhaenyra and Viserys, and I also think it would be good to speak to the poor guy when we arrive back at King's Landing, it tugs my heart strings to read how downcast he was to see Rhaenyra leave for a bit.

Plus, it would remove the negative connotations around the name Visenya. Which is a good thing as Rhaenyra wants to name her daughter Visenya.

The thing IMO is that even if Visenya is innocent of killing Aenys, she is at minimum guilty in aiding Maegor's usurpation of Aegon the Uncrowned (eg. treason) and everything around that (including stuff like Viserys imprisonment, etc). Maegor was a pretty nightmarish king who did stuff like murder all the workers who worked on the red keep, have his nephew tortured to death for no reason, have multiple of his wives murdered etc. And while she may have moderated him, she played a large role in getting him in power in the first place.

I get that we (as Rhaenyra) like her. And she's a fan favorite so I'm sure there are people in this thread who like her. But honestly rehabilitating her image both doesn't seem like it should be possible and also isn't something I'm particularly interested in.

True, but Visenya having even a slightly better reputation would serve our own ends, absolving her of all crimes doesn't seem possible, but if the revelations we find out about Visenya cause even one more lord to view the idea of strong female figures even slightly more positively then that's a win for us.

Besides, depending on how the Progress and our continued martial training goes, taking a few scholarly actions sounds like a good idea to help round out our skills.

I'm rather late to this Quest, but when I started reading and getting caught up the one thing that filled my mind was "Okay, we're doing pretty good in securing Rhaenyra's future and averting potential problems, now all we need to do is avoid Canon Rhaneyra's polygamy and stick to a single husband who we get along with and can provide heirs then we should be fi-"

*Get's with Alicent*

Damnit guys.

Hey! Our Rhaenya is going to be STRESSED being a Queen. The only way to soothe her "suffering" is by seducing her childhood friend.

Not her fault Alicent got charmed by her "Knightly virtues" xD

Oh, and we totally aren't going to make a Polycule with our creepy and dangerous Uncle so there is that :)

Please do not instrumentalize Alicent like that.

Comment about Alicent being a pleasure tool aside, I am also quite happy that there will be no Daemon and Rhaenyra marriage.

I'm tired of half of the HOTD fandom attempting to gaslight me into believing that their relationship is.

A: completely normal despite them being uncle and neice and that Daemon likely once held a baby Rhaenyra in his arms.

B: That their relationship is not toxic and is in fact completely healthy.

And C: That Daemon is a good person and good husband along with being a well adjusted individual.

Daemon hate out of the way, I like Alicent and Rhaenyra being together, it just complicates things since it seems if we want to have heirs (Which we REALLY should as a monarch) we're gonna have to either dump Alicent or commit to a secret polygamous relationship which could end up disastrous if found out.

But hey, I'm also of the opinion that things being a decent bit difficult also makes it more interesting/fun.

Oh, please!
Rhaenyra X Alicent Is one of the best parts of this Quest.

Like, the show clearly changed the Lore to fit certain chemistry between the two, but here we have the two becoming aware and admiting their feelings early on the story

So yeah, totally be working to ensure they have their wholesome but secret relationship. Won't be easy, specially because of Rhaenyra's Duty to marry and have heirs.

But they Will find the way to make things work out between them

Like @hailcapital said, this seems like kind of a waste of time. Even if Visenya was actually innocent of causing Aenys' death, Aenys' death is just one of many reasons as to why Visenya is hated, none of which would change just because she was cleared of that specific enormity.

If we really want to find some past queen to base on than Rhaenys seems like a much better idea. She made laws, she held court, she sat the Iron Throne, she fought at war, she's actually our ancestor unlike Visenya, and she isn't nearly as unpopular.

Yeah it's annoying, he literally groomed her from episode 1 and nearly every action he took until he took the mother of all drug trips in season 2 was an active effort to undermine her status as heir and later Queen. The entire thing with the brothel, the thing that ensured Alicent and Rhaenyra would be rivals and everything that came from that, was very clearly Daemon trying to have Rhaenyra publically embrassed and shamed.

This also only touches the surface of all the bad things about Daemon, I've seen so many edits of the moment when Daemon tells Viserys "I want Rhaenyra," and they all portray it to be some dashing romantic declaration of love.

...Before that moment Viserys was actively beating Daemon bloody for attempting to have sex with his vastly younger daughter.

This moment is Daemon actively DOUBLING DOWN on behavior that is both predatory and actively harmful towards the two closest relationships in his life and attempting to get rewarded for it, his actions also led Rhaenyra to later have a sexual awakening that led towards Criston Cole, who was formerly her sworm shield and one of her biggest supporters, becoming an enemy that would later crown her younger brother and lead towards the civil war.

Of course Rhaenyra did all that with Criston herself and she has her own issues, but a lot of things that go wrong for Rhaenyra and Viserys happen due to Daemon.

And of course Matt Smith is a good looking bastard so it's no secret why Daemon is so romaticized and Daemon is actually a pretty well written character that I do like, but cmon, let's not try to make the guy seem like a good person, you can like him while acknowledging he's a massive prick.

Like Erebus from Warhammer 40k.
