Too bad, I'm working on one anyway.

[] Plan the Computer tells us we need more food.
-[] Agri-, And Aquaculture (+2 to Farming/Animal Husbandry (Chinese Experts), +2 to Farming/Fishing/Animal Husbandry (Technocrats))
--[] Expand Kelp Harvesting Operations (Very Helpful) (-3 Reputation) (+1 People's Opinion): The harvesting process can be improved by allowing the kelp to grow on lines that float on the surface, such that they can be easily harvested by boat without the need for divers.
-[] Social
--[] Find The Tapes (+2 to Counter-Intelligence/Propaganda Actions)
---[] While we've already personally been "punished" for setting up the cameras, the missing tapes present what could become a serious issue. Best case scenario one of our bodyguards just took and destroyed them to try to protect our image. Worst case scenario video showing the layout the residential wing and our children's room have just ended up in the hands of foreign agents. Not to mention that the... contents... of the tapes might harm our ability to conduct international diplomacy.
-[] Secret Project
--[] Mingxiang CyberSyn System (Mega-Project - 8/8 Actions) (-15 Reputation)
-[] Wei Jungming - (RP)
--[] Personal Action: Spend time going over reports on the Chinese situation. Try to keep up to date to avoid getting blindsided by whoever wins, maybe see if there is anywhere you might be able to put a finger on the scales to ensure a more favorable outcome for Guangchou, but you aren't planning on actually doing any operations for now, at least until you get a better picture.
-[] Lover Action: Mai is heading into a very taxing time, so Jungmin is going to be there to make her take time off and relax with him. They could both really use it and Jungmin will hopefully be able to moderate Mai's desire to get back in shape after childbirth to something less taxing for her. Also, Jungmin is going to get a vasectomy. For everyone's sake.

Not much of a difference here, the ability to ignore ~100 points of reputation drop on the CyberSyn is very good. The main difference here is that I swapped out the schools for expanding the farms, since I don't want to hold off on reaching the plan targets until the turn before the American supply ends, and then get burned because of bad rolls. I Chose Expand the Harvesting Ops since it should benefit from both +2s as a Farming action, and it also has a Rep drop that we can negate while being "Very Helpful."

Not as much of a drop as School Revamp, but if we are going to start working on increasing our Navy in the next few turns we should be increasing our rep enough to handle a few penalties anyway.

The other change was to spend our personal action reading reports on China to try to get a better personal understanding of just what is going on in there.

Kelp Harvesting is a pretty good idea actually, gives us a little more leeway in case our rolls in the turn after go badly.

Do you guys think Language Rationalization is a good idea? It's a lot of actions. I want to say that it'll be good for education and immigration and international stuff, but there's a lot of opportunity cost bound up there.

So, I guess just putting out an alternative plan, just so that we can see some different options. I focused way more on diplomatic actions we could do this turn without any reputation hit. I think this makes a lot of sense, especially since we just had a major diplomatic incident, and probably have been building connections with a lot of other nations. Also, I do want to see what the possible knock on effects of having the truck deal with Russia could be.

I freely admit this might not be the best plan, but I thought I'd just present something very different, just to get our minds thinking in a different direction. I'm really not sure whether its worth it to forego the secret project, but I thought I would see what else we may be able to accomplish here. I am very open to adjusting this plan, if others have some good suggestions, or just plain voting for something else, but I wanted to make sure we had two distinct options once voting started

I think the opportunity cost for language makes it something we really can't pursue this turn. The removal of any reputation loss this turn is too important. There are just too many ways we can lose reputation with many of our actions, and too many of those actions are things we would really like to do. I understand that it could synergize really well with other actions, but I feel like there are several actions we just plain won't do on any other turn, because of the reputation hit. I would rather pursue those actions than get language rationalized this turn. (Also, I feel like we could do language on another turn without losing too much)

Oh absolutely, language optimization is at least two turns after this.
These next few turns are going to have to focus pretty hard on electronics related stuff IMO - we've blown too much out our lead and the sooner we can get the USSR on economic ventricular assistance the easier it's recovery will be IMO.

I think we're going to have to resign ourselves to blowing 20+ Rep over the next two turns, and earn it back with a shit ton of military R&D after (sub, fighter jet, AWACS, and ancillary equipment).

Yeah, that sounds right. We put off the language optimization, and focus in electronics related stuff in the near future, just to leverage our only tech advantage. Honestly, its kind of funny we keep going over submarine designs, when we continue to not choose that option. Although that only means we will have insane bonuses when we finally go for that option.

You know, part of me just wants to do all the reputation negative actions this turn, just to avoid all the reputation hits, but that way lies madness maluses

Yeah, the maluses will absolutely fuck us on average rolls like that.

To put the next few turns into context:

T+0
CyberSyn: 8 Actions

T+1
Mingxian: 4 Actions
Electronics Factory: 1 Action

T+2
Supercomputer: 5 Actions

Everything else has to fit around these.

You know... I kind of want to agree with you.... but I think that's a hopeful schedule.

Because as we research some of this shit, we are going to get more and more options. CyberSyn is all but setting up more and more expansive networks like ARPANET, and I do imagine after we research all 4 of these things, we will get a bunch more options we will really want to invest into.

So it won't just be 3 turns of stuff. it'll probably morph into 5 turns of stuff, as we get more shit we want to research.

I just mean in terms of immediate stuff. Cybersyn is good for obvious reasons, but we need Mingxian and the Factory to build the supercomputer that lets us grow it beyond just Mingxian.

I imagine we'll Cyberdize our military factories first to keep the secret longer, then heavy industry, then light. Each stage is at least one project.

Then we also need to set up an ARPANET equivalent to link our R&D to the USSR's. Etc.

You know, I hate how all of this makes sense, and yet I can just see this taking ten turns or more as we miss a critical role or two.

But yeah, getting supercomputers up and running will be very nice

I'm hoping we can have the Supercomputer built before we get to the jet, because CFD (even primitive CFD) would be a huge boon to designing it. And unlocking Stealth research is a possibility if I ever finish that omake, and that definitely needs a supercomputer to crunch reflection angles.

What are you talking about? You just need to do all the math by hand. Sure it'll take...
wait a second, this is a lot of numbers to calculate...
umm, carry the one, ....
It'll just take 2,629,800 hours to calculate it all. I think that converts to just 300 days. Yup! Definitely, didn't just screw up my units there!
See, anything's possible with just a little hard work! :V

but yes, please a computer, any computer, for CFD. hand calculating that shit is always a nightmare.

Interlude - The Beginning Of The American Troubles
Within a rather large but scarcely furnished room, a man, an American, stood, with one hand holding an occasional cigarette, the other keeping a newspaper from New York from falling onto the ground. This man, also known as 'Agent Goose' to his subordinates and superiors, looked, if not exhausted, then weighted down by a weight and burden far greater than a single person should hold or carry at all. Nevertheless, he slowly turned away from the giant corkboard littered with notices, data, photographs and, added in a flight of fancy after too many hours past midnight, a red string connecting some logistical reports stolen by the single agent within the palace.

His tired sight glanced over the table where the 'Asian Section - Guangchou' Agents had created a temporary working room until they could secure their 'official' headquarters to satisfaction. This, unfortunately, meant that the Agents mostly sustained themselves on cheap food from a neighboring vendor as there was no kitchen or staff to cook yet. Though, to be honest, the food was good.

But that, in Agent Goose's mind, was an observation he was making to distract himself from both the 'Nothing' happening within Guangchou and the troubles back home. The 'Nothing' could be any hundred things, from submarines to computer experiments, all the way to even giant robots! Not that the latter two were likely, Guangchou may have the rare metals for experimenting with electronics, but robots would be too out there. Still, Guangchou, and 'Great Leader' Jungmin in specific, were far too quiet after getting one over America. One would expect that there'd be international grandstanding, conferences, some kind of throwing their newly-found weight and political clout around, but... nothing. There are no great projects within the country, no expensive constructions, only repairing damage, assessing what needs to be improved for the next tsunami, and continuing already running initiatives.

And that, nearly more than what happened back home, worried Agent Goose.

Then again, few things could do as the three news he had received with the latest care package from back home.

The third, and least shocking, was that he had been granted permission for 'Operation Rainbow Serpent' and all the funding he needed.

The first was, for him, a piece of pleasantly surprising news, as Ford would be running for president in '77, announced to cheering and with around 78% of the nation indicating that they'd vote for him.

Not like many had other choices, as most of the candidates the Republicans and Democrats were trying to decide upon had, in one way or another, shot themselves in the foot during the Iwo Jima Crisis.

The second news was directly tied to said 'Shooting In The Foot.'

The south was, though perhaps not entirely, being rebellious again. So, after a series of lynchings and the killing of democrats and state marshals, the FBI put down the boot and went down south, intent on clearing out the rabble (after being ordered to do so by Ford.) The result?
Goose Rolls: 67
The result was three pictures that brought the nation to a grinding halt. The racists were unsure of what to think, the liberals unable to decide who to shoot first, the communists and fascists were slinking out of the country in mortification of trying to subvert this nation, and the center was unable to decide who to ask for directions first.

The first picture depicted the Governor of Alabama in the uniform of the Klan, standing before a burning cross.

The second showed the burning cross, the shape of a screaming person easily visible despite the flame and night.

The third?

The third showed the burned corpse of a child nailed to the cross.

A scene that, within days, was followed by 66 other crosses burnt by the Klan, which justified their actions by declaring that they were "showing them Niggers what Uncle Sam did to Commies and Faggots!"

The problem was that the child's corpse had undergone an autopsy to discover who the Klan had burned.

It came away with a 13-year-old daughter of a pastor, the missing white Sera Nigel.

Really, the fact that she had been pregnant before death just had to come when the Supreme Court threw out Roe V. Wade.

Why would the commies be laying low? As far as I know the civil rights movement was a major cornerstone of socialist organization in the states. You'd expect them to ramp up operations in light of this.
He'll, I'd expect major marches and sectarian violence to start... oh, give it a week.

This is going to hurt the southerners a lot they Killed a WHITE woman who was missing and possibly RAPED and it was a Pastor daughter they defiled GOD disciple daughter
