It has been over a year since you tried to find a wife, with the first six months of your reign spent on the Iron Tigers and how to keep them secret or make them work. A lot of work went into those first months, with no time left for any romantic, or just pleasurable, pursuits for you.

That has changed a bit, but your first attempt went rather... poorly if you so say. You did find two suitable and interested women, but nothing about them beyond what you could glean from a page alone. So, you decided to change that and become familiar with both of them and any other candidates you laid your eyes upon, continuing your hunt for a wife.

[] Jing Mai, The Muscled Soldier - (Deep Investigation: Nat 100)
Jing Mai. If you are being honest, the first thing you noticed of her was her height, the second her muscles, the third her citations. She stood a good two meters, a head taller than you, and made a fearsome image for that alone if there weren't the muscles on her. Mai is the perfect description of strength, without it being obscene (like you have seen in the American body-builder competitions) or detracting from her brutish, serious charm. Honestly, she could probably lift you with one arm, and you aren't sure if you dislike or like that fact. Moving on to her past life, she is, what your troops call, a Hemp or Heavy Metal Purr. Slang for people way too much into heavy military equipment, like tanks, heavy artillery, and heavy weaponry. A rumor exists that she had to get new pants after firing a full belt of the Heavy Machinegun Type 44 in one go. Because she... well, you get it. Continuing, she managed to pass the boot with flying colors, being given the highest rank possible, before she underwent every special training you have. From sharpshooting, diving, special ops, tanks, commanding, and even the medical training! She did them all and did them near perfectly. Having spent some time around her, you can say that, character-wise, she seems pretty duty-driven, something you can appreciate in any person. Honesty, loyalty, and ingenuity are things she holds dear to her heart, which would make her outstanding support in the political sphere, and her background would make the Militarists very excited. However, she won't accept playing second fiddle in your marriage, and she'll make you take the time.
(Gains: +8 Reputation, +Militarists Relations, +1 Wife RP Action
Losses: -1 General RP Action
Character: Honest, Loyal, Dutiful)
Kinks: Crossdressing (You), Role Reversal, Romantic Softcore, Furry (Tiger)
[] Mu Ji, The Small Maid - (Deep Investigation: 10)
Mu Ji was born a year after you and, though her father worked for yours, never received enough food until she was already in her puberty, which caused her to never grow beyond 155cm in height. However, her body didn't seem to get the memo that she had been malnourished most of her life, and instead of putting the food she was able to buy with her job as a maid into her muscles or height, it put them into her chest. You appreciate a good pair like any person barking up that tree, but you are convinced that backpain will murder her within the decade. Character-wise, she never had any problems, or anything resembling a negative discussion, with any living person you can find. That doesn't mean that people who upset her didn't find themselves on the wrong end of a prank or something similar. You can appreciate a trait, as nothing beats getting one over those who try to walk over you. Yet, besides that, she won't give you many things that could be useful in the political sphere, beyond making the people love you as you step into your father's steps, marrying a maid.
(Gains: +8 People's Opinion, +1 to Action Limit (before maluses are applied)
Losses: -2 Reputation, May Be Too Passive
Character: Content, Servile, Vengeful)
Kinks: ???, ???, Pain?
[] Sai Dujin, The Engineer - (Deep Investigation: 2)
Sai Dujin achieved the highest grades in her education, from the first day to the last, when she walked out of the university with a degree in engineering. Since then, she applied her talents and passion to all things mechanical, recently having completed the installation of the latest part of the power plant, whose construction she oversaw. You know her pretty well, as you had often spoken to her while going under the people, and you honestly like her. She has a rugged, disarming charm to her, with her slight rural accent adding even more to the image of a hardworking woman out to complete a job. However, she tends to be scatterbrained and frequently loses her line of thinking amidst other, more interesting subjects. Though she has no political connections or significance, unlike the other two, she has a vastly superior education. As a result, she would help you in all things industry.

The Date
Despite all the privileges and advantages your position had afforded you, both then and especially now, you would be the first person to admit that it had its price.

As heir apparent to the Great Leader and Supreme Commander of an entire nation and its military, your safety and security was among the nation's chief concerns, especially as your father grew older. Certain actions were to be restricted, certain requests were to be refused, and certain people were to be avoided. As such, your love life was pretty much nonexistent. To say nothing of ulterior motives and questionable personages, anyone sincere enough would have had to deal with all the extra hoops and loops dating the son of the Great Leader would entail, not to mention demanding certain personal criteria and connections. Not exactly conducive to a genuine romance.

To that end, you had resigned yourself to a political, if not highly practical, courtship and eventual marriage. And your thought process in inviting Jing Mai had been little different.

You had requested a meeting, of sorts. Perhaps a walk somewhere, or even lunch together. Your marital status and the expectations heaped upon you and your position would have made it clear what exactly you'd be implying with such an invitation, and Jing Mai was certainly sharp enough to realize and professional enough to understand. However, the reply back had made you remember her current circumstances as well, and why it would be inappropriate and potentially troublesome to conduct your date anywhere else other than where she was currently restricted to.

It did not take you long to recall that her standing in the military, combined with her love of heavy military machinery, had made it all but impossible to not include her in the Iron Tiger project. In fact, she'd somehow found out about it, ensured her source could not be exploited by anyone else, and promptly submitted a request to join the project as a pilot directly to your Minister of National Defense.

Despite the breach of protocol, and violation of the chain of command, her citations, professionalism (at least prior to this action), apparent value to such a project and her prompt actions in dealing with the info leak, had seen to her request being granted. Like the rest of the soldiers and staff in the secret facility, she'd been restricted to within the compound, so as to avoid any sensitive information from being leaked. Hence why you'd found yourself making a "surprise visit" to the facility.

Even remembering the exact number describing her height, you still found yourself marveling slightly at her stature. Chiseled like some Greek sculpture, her muscles were quite obvious even under her uniform. Her stoic expression even as she greeted you (with a salute, no less) only added to the intimidating aura about her. Even if you had only read about the Amazons of Greek mythology, you could not help but decide that the woman in front of you was a prime example; and while cute would not be the first word you'd describe her with, you cannot deny she has ferocious beauty about her.

For some reason, you have a rogue urge to see her with fake tiger ears and a tail…

After your first encounter, she'd taken you on a tour of the facility. You had seen the blueprints (when they were finally combined again to give you the whole picture of the facility) and had visited it's command bunker before, but the operations and population had only grown since. She also introduced you to many of her colleagues and peers, the engineers, mechanics, staff and, of course, her fellow pilots.

Included among the latter was Captain Ru Hiro.

On the outside, the two were pretty much opposites. Despite both being captains, Jing Mai favored range and sheer firepower while Ru Hiro preferred closing in with superior speed and agility. While the former scored slightly higher in marksmanship and skills in operating heavy machinery, the latter was slightly more skilled in CQC and assault operations.

In fact, they had become the poster girl and boy, respectively, of two factions in the military. One focused on the doctrine of ranged firepower and close fire support and the other on assault tactics and guerrilla warfare as a means of executing field ops. Thankfully, the two sides remained professional, and maintained no more than a friendly rivalry between them, similar to the two captains in front of you now, each harboring a stoic respect for the other.

In fact, if you hadn't seen either of their files, you'd think they were siblings.

It was through interactions such as these that you'd gotten a clearer look at who your prospective bride-to-be was as an individual. Past the stern and professional facade was someone incredibly passionate in things she held dear. Among those were her nation and her people, something clear for all to see from her service record. Almost as well known, but only by her peers, was her loyalty and sense of camaraderie, something you begin to find in her interactions not just with her rival captain, but even her subordinates and the project's engineers and support staff.

Speaking of which, some of them, at least those who'd worked up the courage to speak of more than a greeting to you, regal you of one story of Jing Mai daring Captain Hiro to ask the mechanic he'd been crushing on out to a date (in the compound, of course).

But the least known, to the nation at large but not to anyone in the military, is her love for all things loud, heavy and lethal. This, you bear witness to as she finally shows you to her personal machine. Apparently the heaviest laufpanzer model amongst the fifty you had found, the machine is cleaner than when it was originally discovered, and clearly well-maintained. It also sports some very intimidating back and shoulder-mounted, long range weaponry, with both "arms" also being smaller caliber guns. Its legs, each even thicker than the torso of Captain Hiro's machine, could easily crush a tank underneath, with the overall beast of a mecha being almost 16 meters in height.

Jing Mai regales you with the machine's capabilities, including it's modular weaponry. She also tells you of some of the modifications and alterations that have been applied to it since the project had started. Things you are aware of already, of course, having kept abreast of its developments. But it is her voice itself that you listen to, the fondness and joy buried beneath all the technical data and jargon she'd clearly memorized. It's clear that she's grown quite attached to it, if not the project itself.

You had thought that cute felt inappropriate a word to describe her. Hearing her now, however, you can't help but revise your initial impression.

As you continue to smile and prompt her on speaking more of her thoughts on the Iron Tiger project's virtues and (currently being worked on) flaws, you decide that you do like Captain Jing Mai.

You won't go so far as to say you're in love, whatever that must feel like; and you're quite aware that neither is she, but you do think it wouldn't be impossible either. And as your thoughts briefly turn to the other candidates, you wonder if you should hold back a bit to consider other options some more, perhaps look for more candidates. Or if you should go ahead and begin courting Jing Mai in earnest.

After all, if you could find a complete set of manuals and blueprints to a secret Nazi mecha project complete with 50 working prototypes, it shouldn't be strange to find actual romance while courting a fierce tigress of an army captain. Right?

Note: Ahhhhhh, I went overboard with the length again. Also, I feel really clumsy with dialogue, so I figured I'd turn it into our MC processing his thoughts on his Nat 100 candidate.

With regards to making her part of Iron Tiger… seriously? Did any of you guys really expect otherwise? There was literally no way she wouldn't be part of it. You'd have to roll a Nat (-) 100 for that. Also threw in a catgirl reference for all you catgirl enthusiasts. 😏

Anyways, sorry if it feels long and rambling. I realized I had to throw Hiro in halfway through, but there you go. Hope you guys enjoyed it.

[X] Light Industry
-[X] Increase Electrification (Helpful) (+2 People's Opinion)

(4+2=6 - Optimal)
Electricity is the great equalizer for many a nation, as productivity of those without and those with are worlds apart. Great machines and massive assemblies can be run by one, while the other has to make-do with hands and muscle. But the improvements of industry are not the only thing that one should look at with the tiny miracle of bottled lightning wielded by humanity in mind! No, there are a myriad of things that benefit from electrification; lights are the first and foremost among them all. Now, for the first time in nearly forty years, the streets of the capital are once more lit up by electrical lights, while your hospital and distribution centers shine in the dark while their workers, nurses, and doctors work hard to bring food, resources, and health to the people. In addition, electrical lights now illuminate the interiors within selected homes (randomly chosen among those in range of your network expansion). Soon all of your people will be able to enjoy that little facet of life enjoyed by so many others, with more to come: freezers and electrical cooking among the forefront. But it would be best if you continued pushing the electrification effort to have any impact.

-[X] Construct A Power Plant (Helpful)
(10+2=12 - Boosted)
The construction of the new power plant went perfectly! There were no accidents, nothing to even suggest any poor materials had been substituted by anyone corrupt, and the output is even above what had been calculated! Which delayed the start of production as your engineers checked over everything again, only to return with the news that the equipment they had been given was a newly created improvement, which they weren't notified of. Luckily that was more of a problem with a missing letter and communication than an indication of a sabotage effort. Nonetheless, the new plant is up and running, and electricity has started to flow along the newly constructed lines into homes, factories, streets, and your hospital.

-[X] Construct A Metallurgical Institute (+2 Reputation)
(11 - Boosted)
Though the experts who will teach and research within the Black Fire Alloy Institute (named after the meteorite blades your ancestors used and worked with for thousands of years) aren't the youngest anymore, they are nonetheless the cream of the crop you have around. And aren't bound up in other (secret) efforts. Moreover, their efforts have already impacted your steel industry, and the plans for the new Steel Foundry were revised to use more modern principles and some local modifications.

-[X] Expand Your Mines (Harmful) (Urgent)
(9 - Optimal)
The shafts were deepened, outlying mining villages expanded, safety features distributed, and quotas set to satisfy the Chinese demand as per your deals with various factions and prominent politicians. The first ship-load of precious and rare minerals have already been sent over, with lithium, bauxite, yttrium, neodymium, and thulium among the first batch. Unfortunately, deaths that cannot be avoided while mining these minerals, though you hope that could soon change, have risen dramatically due to the expansions. Cases of metal poisoning have increased by 7%.

--[X] Have them begin creating a realistic paper trail showing your walking tanks are completely homegrown and have nothing to do with Nazis. At most, they were inspired by some pictures of a possible Nazi project, which is why the chassis look similar. But nothing else! (+3 Reputation, +Allies)

If you are honest, you wouldn't even see what was falsified and changed if you didn't know where to look after being told where to look! They really did a number on these numbers! (Heh.) The cover story of the Iron Tigers being created after a shipment of Laufpanzers to Japan had been sunk was a stroke of genius! That you gained the inspiration by recovering surviving scientists and blueprints even allows you to obfuscate the truth further (whatever that was) while technically not lying! Genius!

It took some time to find a general among your forces you could trust with the project's magnitude (mainly because you have like... five), but you saw her in Su Ji. She is the spitting image of a general and has more than one time been told that she can't be used in propaganda because she is too stereotypical. Fortunately, she is also incredibly loyal to the people and the revolution in all aspects and not afraid to speak out when something goes against that or hold off on cleaning corruption within the ranks. SO when you approached her with a "Secret Project," you knew that she would keep her mouth, and that of her subordinates, shut. It took her all of seven minutes and thirteen seconds (to read the documents you gave her) to accept the position you wanted to offer her. Immediately, she went to work scraping off everything that could even tangentially be linked to the Nazis, but she noted that to provide perfect cover, you should create native Iron Tigers as soon as possible; even prototypes would be sufficient.

-[X] Industrialists
--[X] Thank the Unions for the help with the Harbor and fisheries by inviting a few of their trusted leaders to a private dinner. Trusted because not only have they earned their fellow common workers respect, but your people did some background checks and confirmed trustiness and loyalty. Plus any blackmail, just in case. (8 - Optimal)
The dinner went as well as you could hope for, with fourteen names now on the lists for permanent observation after they agreed to listen to your proposal and the risk inherent in doing so. Having shown them the plans, the blueprints, and specifications of the Iron Tigers you currently have and those you could, theoretically, build, their eyes widened. Then all of them went wild in the following four-hour discussion of what is needed and how to create Iron Tigers for civilian purposes. You won't even attempt to pretend that you understood a fourth of what they spoke about, but they seemed very excited about the possibilities.

-[X] Iron Tiger Research Group (Allows Modifications)
(10 - Boosted)
Trusted and experienced scientists, engineers, and military designers have been gathered, sworn to oaths, papers, and revolution, before even allowed anywhere near the compound where the Iron Tigers have been stored. Though the moment they saw them, papers and pens went flying, sketching and calculating improvements, modifications, prototypes, and feasibility of every model within the bunker. For now, and thanks to the titanic enhancements made by the nazi-scientists within the fields of alloys, electronics, and mechanical engineering, they have created a set of (current) limitations native Iron Tigers will have to abide by. Currently, Iron Tigers can't exceed 10 meters in height and 70 tons in weight. Luckily, the necessary skeleton and mechanisms of a single meter are 3 tons, so you should be able to fit 40 tons of ammo, equipment, soldiers, weaponry, and other things within the chassis. Experience, industry, improvements in alloys and machinery, and general scientific improvements will further increase what you can work with.

-[X] Wei Jungming - (RP)
--[X] Keep looking for a potential spouse. You'll find someone you click with soon. You know it.
---[X] Jing Mai, The Muscled Soldier - (Deep Investigation: Nat 100)

After your first impression of Jing Mai, you continued to spend time with her, even as you tried to see other options. Official meetings regarding the Iron Tigers turned into "official" functions where the both of you stuck close, then into personal talks with no work even mentioned, and before you knew it, you could only smile when thinking of her. And so, you asked her, not as the Great Leader or the Supreme Commander, but as Jungming, a young man that genuinely wanted to know her more. Things continued, and pleasant meals or exercises soon turned into other directions. Maybe it was love, perhaps it was finding someone you just fit with, but at the end of the second year of your reign, you discovered that you wanted her. And she wanted you too if the way she eyed you after your exercises was any indication. However, you could have done without her scooping you up after a particularly exhausting work-out and locking you and herself into a closet. Not that you didn't enjoy it (the things she could do with her tongue!), but maybe a little warning before? Though you now have something very exciting to look for after your work-outs, if her eyes are any indication.

--[X] Improve relations with the communist Southeast Asian countries. Possibly start the process of a trade agreement pact.
(41)
With the Vietnam war seemingly still going strong and several new divisions of infantry shipped over by the Americans, your diplomatic efforts were stymied by the war, and most attention focused elsewhere. Still, you managed to gain goodwill from many friendly nations and a secure line to Lê Đức Thọ, who is currently gearing up for a new offensive against the south, and willing to pay top-money for any military goods or canned food you can spare.

--[X] Go outside in disguise and chill amongst the citizens. It's been a while since you've had some Me Time.
(44)
Things are, however slowly, improving. The new harvests from the agriculture zones have provided a boost of food for many, with the cannery now in full effect, further increasing the food available for all. Of course, it would be best if you still did work on furthering food production, mainly to hit the target you set yourself, but with three more years open, you are sure that you don't have to mono focus on the plan.

The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
Let's just say that letting a bunch of scientists and engineers loose on the Iron Tigers may not have been the best option if you wanted to avoid bloodshed. Mainly because both professions immediately started to clobber each other over the head due to the stark differences in their design philosophy. Which created that abomination.

The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
The nature of the sort of warfare seen in the European theater during World War 2 had shaped the design and engineering philosophies of the laufpanzer prototypes Guangchou had… inherited.

They were massive, even compared to the heaviest of the German panzer designs, capable of crushing a Tiger I tank underfoot. They were also wonderfully stable machines, rated to be effective in fighting in the uneven, forested terrains that could be seen in Europe. It was no wonder they initially had no means of righting themselves should they topple over. In addition, the long-ranged warfare inherent in the battles of that war did not leave much threat from close-in maneuvers. They simply had to be able to walk, maneuver over uneven and artillery-cratered terrain, and withstand impacts from return fire.

In short, there simply was no need, or rather there was simply no room to worry about falling down all that much.

Other things of note were the innovations and engineering marvels present in the 50 prototypes occasionally rumbling through the facility. Of greatest note was the powerful, highly fuel-efficient, and impossibly silent engine purring within each machine. The fuel mix was also a new innovation. Higher-octane than even the most premium of known fuels, the mix was even planned to be used for the German rocket program, though such plans never came to fruit, for obvious reasons. That both engine blueprints and fuel-mix recipe and chemical notes were both present amongst the documents the Great Leader had found had only boosted the research group's joy to new heights.

Furthermore, the laufpanzer prototypes even had an overpressure system, and their own enclosed environment complete with a robust filtration system with reusable components. This feature had prompted some of the research group to propose an aquatic variant. Those focusing on creating a civilian model were more than happy to adapt it to their mining variant.

One even suggested sending a suit into space, though that last one was after a particularly large alcoholic binge.

To that end, design philosophies and doctrine focuses were all over the place, as were the prototypes. Territories had been marked all across the hangars and conference rooms, denoting various factions and their own "mini-projects".

Fortunately, disagreements only resulted in a mild 29% increase in infirmary visits. And a miraculous 3% intensive care rate.

Really, it had been a wonder anything was getting done, though that was likely because of the Great Leader's regular visits to the facility, which had only increased as of late. More than one keen-eyed and sharp-minded engineer or scientist had noted him spending more time with Captain Jing Mai, though they were tactful enough to keep it to themselves. Or rather, keep it strictly to personnel within the compound. After all, stringent travel restrictions ensured high demand for gossip and particulary juicy pieces of intel.

Captain Ru Hiro's romantic, and ongoing, affair with one of his machine's assigned mechanic was a close second.

In general, however, the factions could be divided into two categories: highly ambitious and highly practical.

The more ambitious factions generally drew more attention from the militarists, especially in light of some of their projects. In particular, Captain Hiro's personal campaign to install rocket boosters to his personal machine had marked him as a firm supporter. Despite, of course, his machine simply being too heavy for any practical application, even with his being the smallest among the original 50. In any case, the engine and fuel mix had made the rocket booster idea a possibility, and had earned additional favor from those i the military favoring assault tactics.

Another idea from the factions had been the installation of a self-destruct mechanism. One group even advocating the possibility of mounting a nuclear warhead inside their "Nuclear Tiger" design. Justifications of preventing units from falling into enemy hands had been bandied about, as well as allowing for mutually-assured destruction. The military had liked that one too.

As for the more practical groups, they'd seen more support from civilian engineers and scientists. Even from Captain Mai as well. Their designs tended to be heavier but also more robust and conventional (and still within weight and height restrictions). One of their first proposals had been to design an engineering and maintenance variant, little more than a pilot harness and limbs connected to a smaller engine and fuel tank. The variant would be highly modular, able to equip loading claws, welders, cutters and even a towing cable. All while standing at 3 meters.

Modifying in an enclosed cockpit with filtration system, a jackhammer arm and a continuous track system instead of legs for reduced height and increased stability had given birth to a mining variant that would, in theory, reduce mining fatalities to zero.

Naturally, the true issue was miniaturizing the engines, though it certainly helped that the Nazis had theoretical designs for a smaller laufpanzer, albeit one designed for closed-in, tight, urban warfare. That also meant notes on how to possibly create a smaller engine with reduced but still considerable power and efficiency.

The last bit had also inspired calls to adapt the engines for conventional civilian and military vehicles. An easier prospect was to simply upscale an engine to serve as power generation for ship operations and propulsion. Meanwhile representatives from the air force had asked about adapting the engines to aircraft models and even rocket and missile applications.

While all still mostly in the planning phase, the individual projects were starting to shape into something approaching the creation of actual prototypes.

More recently, the Great Leader had asked the research group as a whole to begin finalizing the design for the first general prototype unit. With discrete assistance from the BFA institute, diverted power from the new power plant and the acquisition of more exotic minerals and ores purchased from China at a premium, the research group bombastically (but still within the compound, safe from prying eyes) unveiled the first, domestic Iron Tiger unit.

It was… something. It was something. Barely skirting both the height and weight limitations, the machine was a testament to the direction in terms of design philosophy. Or rather, multiple directions.

It was less a general prototype than a mishmash of prototypes welded together.

The fact that it stood at exactly 10.0000 meters in height was already impressive, the fact that it stood on two DIFFERENT leg components made it more so.

One stocky leg with a backwards-facing joint paired with a thinner leg more anatomically similar to a human's, it certainly made for one hell of a spectacle. According to the two groups in charge of assembling each leg, they were to be used in tandem in order to fire the massive artillery gun strapped (Jing Mai's request) to the back, with one foot forward, and the other back. Failing to include the contrasting legs would send the mecha toppling backwards, lacking the stability provided by the weight of the original models.

Meanwhile, on the same side as the thinner leg was a thick, bulky arm ending in what seemed to be the spiked ball of a morningstar, and only adding to the surprise was that the entire arm housed an intricate pressure-powered chain system that turned it into a flail that could propel the spiked ball by a short distance at considerable force and speed. Opposite it was an oversized jackhammer, similarly pressure-powered but also considerably thinner and lighter without the reinforced chain spooled within like that ball-arm.

All in all, the juxtaposing pairing of thick and thin limbs made for quite a sight. And while the torso didn't seem all that radical in design, having most of the features in the original laufpanzers simply miniaturized along with the cockpit, the lack of a head component made the entire machine look like a headless humanoid with a single atrophied arm and leg each.

Also, someone managed to sneak rocket boosters (probably at Captain Hiro's instigation) onto the back. In addition, someone had even placed a snorkel unit beside the prototype, citing that should it prove necessary, the prototype could theoretically submerge itself underwater, with the snorkel seeing to the engine's continued operations.

Yes. It was most definitely something.

Perhaps the most incredible part of the day, however, was the impressive poker face on the Great Leader's face as he calmly inspected the Thing and asked questions with regards to its features and capabilities. That it actually worked was also worth praising. Still, it was merely a prototype. And largely as a platform to exhibit new technologies, at that.

And so, the day closes on a, relatively, successful unveiling. Overall, notes were taken and lessons were learned. Particularly about increasing project oversight. And actually specifying a role and use rather than "make an Iron Tiger prototype".

But then, that's a whole other story.

Notes: Not sure how I feel about this one. Also, there's no way the prototype will ever be approved for mass production. This Thing, it scares me.

Greetings, comrade!
> Welcome to the Iron Tiger Compound's Social Interactions Network. Every personnel in this facility is required to create their own account for work purposes. Additionally the terminals located around the base can also be used for social interactions via it's messaging function, hence the network's name.
> Please bear in mind that there are only a limited number of terminals available for use, so be mindful of time so as to give everyone a chance to use it. Furthermore, non-work related topics and communication is RESTRICTED TO LEISURE HOURS ONLY. Failure to comply will result in a reprimand.
> Repeat violations will result in more severe punishments.
> Management would also like to remind everyone of a few things:
> First, the conspiracy that your private communications are being monitored is just that, a conspiracy. The terminal network is meant to ensure confidentiality in an environment where such is to always be observed. There will be no more talk of this nonsense. Failure to comply will result in strict punishment, so don't even try. WE'LL KNOW.
> Second, permission has been asked and officially granted to hold the activity titled QUESTNIGHT, an online storytelling interaction that lets you choose how the story unfolds. Please consult the flyers on the noticeboards in the cafeteria and main hall for further details. Anyone interested should speak either with Dr. Henry Smith or Engineer Otto Bermann.
> Third, use of the terminals as a means of conducting illegal transactions and agreements involving monetary exchange and barter is a direct violation of the facility's rules. Should you receive any information or proof of any such act being conducted, please report to security immediately. All culprits will be strictly punished; the buying, selling and exchange of government property more so.
> Lastly, there have been rumors of the Great Leader using the terminal network as well under some anonymous identity. That is nonsense. The terminal network is restricted to the compound's resident personnel. The idea that the Great Leader is using some private terminal to go "sneak" around the forums is equally preposterous. There will be no more talk about this.
> That is all. We hope you make efficient use of the network and enjoy its features.

abominable note: There's absolutely no way catgirllover69 is the Great Leader. Also, one of the ongoing quests in quest night is about running your own communist nation in Asia. 👀

im thinking that the laufpanzer electronics and communications tech gives a lot of new improvements to our nation's budding electronics and communications industry. Hence, Tigernet was born :V

-[X] Improve Roads (Helpful) (+1 People's Opinion)

(11-1[Diluted Focus]=10 - Boosted)
One of the things that always irked you about the island was the lack of proper transportation infrastructure. Sure, you had roads that went between your cities and towns and the vital factories, with some villages also connected should they happen to be conveniently located for either industry or military access. But beyond that, most people had to do with gravel roads at best and dirt roads that became mud rivers when it rained at worst. Most had to do with packed dirt, which wasn't conducive to increasing the connectivity between any part that wasn't your capital, the harbors, and your military bases. But with your focus on improving agri- and aquaculture, ensuring farmers could transport produce with ease, or at least without much hassle, was something on your mind. And something the Technocrats had proven to be a (statistically) significant factor in the problems your nation faced, not only to feed itself but in many other aspects too. So, with a bit of money, some preparations, and efficient planning, the main roads were reinforced and patched up, connections to important resource hubs were created, and routes to farming villages and collectives received the attention they deserved. And while it may not have too much of an impact in the short term, transportation times are steadily decreasing across nearly every industry sector.

-[X] Design New Housing Concept (Design)
--[X] Increased energy efficiency

(9-1[Diluted Focus]=8 - Optimal)
While you are busy improving access to electricity, you have also grown conscious that you can't create infinite power from nothing. Ehm, you could, but China sure as shit ain't giving you a nuclear reactor, nor will the USSR. As such, you kicked the problem to your architects with the singular premise of making the most energy efficiency housing you could, currently, create. The results they came back with were not overly revolutionary, but they were nonetheless impressive. Further, they have developed two philosophies, one focuses on traditional small scale housing, writ large, while the other attempts to create large scale houses that can fit around two hundred people inside them while offering spaces for government services, distribution centers, an integrated office for police, and further saving in cost for heating, electricity, and space.

-[X] Improve Medical Infrastructure (Helpful) (+4 People's Opinion) (-1 Reputation)
(8-1[Diluted Focus]=7 - Optimal)
With the advent of receding malnutrition within the populace, you decide to double down on improving the people's health, as disease and accidents still plague many or leave them unable to work. By opening more clinics in remote parts of the island, promoting doctors, and expanding the courses for both them and nurses, a general increase in the capacity of your medical system has been initiated. Of course, it will take some time until the effects can fully set in, but the steps are made to start down the road of increasing the doctor ratio to 0.1 to 1.000 within a few years.

-[X] Increase Electrification (Helpful) (+2 People's Opinion)
(6-1[Diluted Focus]=5 - Optimal)
More homes are connected to the lines, with lights and electric conveniences springing up in those homes that drew favorable within the lottery. At the same time, more lines are carefully planned and erected over the months, a slow network of electricity beginning to snake around the island and connecting your cities and towns. Soon you should be able to begin a push towards the villages, but that will have to wait for some more years of effort.

-[X] Construct A Geothermal Power Plant (Helpful) (+2 Reputation)

(8+2-1[Diluted Focus]=9 - Optimal)
The volcano in the eastern portion of your island may not be the most active one in the world, but it isn't dormant either! With some clever engineering, some finagling of the geysers, and a surprisingly low amount of deaths and injuries, your new geothermal powerplant soon stands, happily churning out power with the help of nature at no additional cost in coal as your other powerplants use. Quite efficient, if you do say so! Why people don't use that technology everywhere is something you don't understand; why use more coal and oil if you can use nature instead?

The Twin Sickles Botanical Research Institute and Silver Pearl Marine Science Institute both go up as a dual package science campus, with students able to live near or within the Institutes as they learn their respective branches of science. The dual approach has also already led to cross-discipline research in figuring out the effect one side has on the other by its lack or overabundance of certain species, plants, or conditions. Quite exciting stuff, even if you are pretty distracted by the amusing debates your scientists have with the Chinese ones, both arguing their points for hours before ending in screaming matches promising each other blood before going to their laboratories to prove the other wrong. You also particularly like how your foremost expert in the breeding of animals, Erika Suziho Fat-Kai, had a ten-hour screaming match with her Chinese counterpart and resolved the issue by taking her pet tiger (after clearing it with the faculty, you, and some additional security measures) with her to work ever since. Who knew that scientists could be so petty? Unfortunately, however, it seems that you have almost emptied the educated workforce, and it will take some time until you have enough scientists hungry and available enough for expansions of such an ambitious scale. Or try and create a school system that isn't in utter shambles. Or near to, you may be a little too harsh due to personal experiences.

-[X] Marry Jing Mai (+5 Reputation) (+5 People's Opinion)

(2+4-1[Diluted Focus]=5 - Optimal)
The marriage was a whole load of stress for the both of you, as every single part either crashed into your workloads, some part of your security details were freaking out about a "dangerously undefended/foolish aspect" in your plans, or the stressful minutia of the whole thing. You didn't even know General Su Ji was allergic to peanuts! Or that Jing Mai's younger brother could not stand anywhere near tulips! And you don't even want to think about the hassle that was the guest list! So many needed to be invited and then placed according to rank, prestige, political happenings, favors, activities, personality, food preferences, and (though you enjoyed that part) how much you wanted to snub them. But in the end, you'd like to think it was worth it as you were declared husband and wife under the law, with you both kissing to the cheer of everyone. The day of celebration with free luxury ration and food certainly helped you with your popularity from the people!

Trading one good for another in larger quantities is a well-understood concept among humanity. Doing so in a manner that profits one side exclusively is an artform the US has perfected, but trading one good for the same, but in more significant quantities, is a whole other matter unto itself. However, with the flare-up in the Vietnam War, you are sure that you can finagle some precious materials and goods from North Vietnam in exchange for canned food, upon which you'll exchange those gained materials into more food from other nations. Of course, it will run the risk of getting the US agitated or interested in you, but you can claim (rightfully) to trade food and not war materials so that the risk may be low. Other alternatives, such as trade with African Countries, could be pursued, but you are hesitant to follow those, as it feels too much like retreading the imperialist's paths.

(3+4-1[Diluted Focus]=6 - Optimal)
While the massive underground facilities were rapidly modernized and brought up to date with safety measures, teams of cleaners went over every single blueprint and machine to scrub, sand, grind off or remove any hint of the electronics being from Nazi Germany, its efforts, or those that had subscribed to its ideology. During one of your visits to the facility, you noticed something rather unusual and soon were amazed by the device some engineers had cobbled together in their spare time. Granting them the time and resources they said were required soon resulted in a computer network springing up within your Iron Tiger Compound, connecting over two hundred terminals into one single "network," as the engineers called it. Using a "software" they (cheekily) called WEISOFT, it proved to be an absolute marvel at increasing the speed and quality of work! What stunned you was that technically speaking, such a network doesn't have any upper limit, meaning that you could connect the entirety of Guangchou with such a network to improve upon... anything, really! Also, upon further, hushed inquiry across the globe and your allies, it seems that, in terms of computational power, your electronics are equal to the current cutting edge! WHAT IN ALL FUCK DID THESE NAZIS SMOKE TO CREATE THESE ELECTRONICS?!

---[X] Personally vet the bodyguards that will be assigned to Jing Mai and our future children. After they make it through the intel department's inspections, of course.
----[X] Invite Mai along if she'd like. She's probably more qualified for this anyhow.

(93)
...holy shit, you wanted bodyguards, not another special operations unit! Well, you have them now, so you'll have to get used to them. Other than your wife designing a ruthless course of tests to bring out the best of the best within the candidates for both of your protection, you are pretty sure that the military at large has taken notice and altered the training of your spec-ops teams. You are just glad that you don't have to go through the gauntlet!

---[X] Conduct a surprise inspection of our recently created navy.
(17)
During the hectic with your wedding and the excitement of WEISOFT, you didn't manage to do more than a cursory visit of the navy and listen to their complaints, praise, and see some of the newest recruits. It was nice, but not what you wanted out of the trip.

---[X] Bring an army jacket, miniskirt, handcuffs, and tiger ears to your honeymoon and let her do what she likes.

The Guangchou Institute of Sexual Science has two sections performing their trade in total anonymity among the services offered. One of those was the section that, upon inquiry, would set out contraceptives for free, with no questions asked or any personal contact needed by either those seeking the contraceptives or those giving them out. Your father explained it as "people having a right to their own body, and how they have children. Besides, the growth of our people has grown ever since that section started its operation." Which you can't say anything against, having the figures delivered to you every second Thursday of the month. People having a say in when they have children has a measurable effect in decreasing teen pregnancy and how many healthy babies are being born. But the other section was (currently) of more interest to you, namely because it, also anonymously, sold "marital aids" in all forms you could think up. When you asked your father, he shrugged and said, "People will want those things, so why not provide them and profit?" While you disagree with the last part (you changed the pricing to be neutral, earning as much as it costs to make the items in hours, work, and materials), you cannot argue that the service is being used. Though you didn't think you'd be using it so soon. Nevertheless, after Mai professed her interests and likes within the bed to you, you knew what you had to do. Ordering a complete set of the #1 requested costume, a "Female Military Uniform," and some "handcuffs" took little time, and they all arrived in time for your honeymoon too! However, there was a slight complication after your wedding, as you decided to wear all of the above combined. The following two hours proved to be the scariest, yet horniest and entertaining, hours of your life. However, her smile and happiness the week after alone would have more than made up for walking weird for two days after that. Her following up with more "tiger-time" was just the icing on the cake.

Tiger-Time
Let us be honest; they are two newlyweds enjoying life to its fullest in all aspects. But, they are also the Great Leader of a nation-state, and a military officer with duties, both of which have a way to interject into the private life of anyone. So it is inevitable that those two sides of the coin would, eventually, collide.

Questnights Unlimited
With WEISOFT up and running and a rudimentary culture and electronic pastimes developing, a look at one of the popular activities within the Iron Tiger Compound reveals the "Questnight" among the most popular. However, what exactly is a "Questnight," and what is the most loved one? Or what goes on inside one? Questions that demand answers!

Questnights Unlimited
Kwon Ji-Woo tapped furiously at the keypunch device, inputing her choice and the justification for it, as well as comments that she hoped would preempt the inevitable arguments from her fellow readers. She had to be as brief as possible, however, as there was a limit as to how much she could put into her message. As advanced as the program was, the operating system's messaging feature could only process so much in a single entry.

As she went over her message, her mind began to wander as to how this recent obsession of hers started.

Questnight had been an attempt at alleviating the boredom inherent to being confined in a compound for months at a time as a matter of information security. With no contact to the outside world, they needed to make do with whatever distraction they had available to them. And the new network made possible by the Iron Tiger project gave them just that.

Two men had started Questnight. Dr. Henry Smith had been one of the original experts employed at the Institute of Sexual Sciences in Germany. It was even rumored that he'd been the one to help the previous Great Leader make contact with them, for whatever reason. Meanwhile, Smith himself was from the British Isles, having taken interest in the Sexual Sciences early in his career as a psychologist. He had fled back to England before the Second World War, and then had migrated here in Guangchou once he'd gotten word that the Institute had reestablished itself after fleeing Germany. And now, he was one of the resident shrinks at the compound, on loan from the institute as he completed another thesis.

An enthusiast of historical and mythical tales, he'd made a wonderful storyteller, writing the stories or "quests" that gave Questnight its name. He had started with stories of knights and dragons, from legends in Europe. Then had moved on to tales from China, then Japan, gaining complexity as he varied his tales.

On the technical side, Engineer Otto Bermann was a native of Munich, in Germany. He had fled his own country when the Nazis grew in power. He had even helped smuggle some German Jews as the the discrimination escalated and pogroms started, then had followed the institute as it moved to Guangchou.

With a history in electrical engineering, Bermann had taken a keen interest in computer electronics as well. He helped set up the network and then assisted Dr. Smith in working out Questnight.

Now, the two were but one of the already near dozen solo authors, paired writer and groups facilitating the current stories on the network.

The big draw into the whole thing had been the ability to vote for actions and choices presented throughout the 'quests' that each lead to various outcomes and paths in the story. Naturally, this had sparked constant arguments and debates as to what course of action should be taken at every junction. Something Ji-Woo had obsessively joined in on.

For voting, the authors would gather and tally the votes before sending a mass message to all the readers to show the results and winning choice. All features made possible by the innovative technology found in the laufpanzers, not to mention the experts gathered in the compound.

Currently, the most popular quest was by an anonymous solo author going by the moniker 'catgirllover69'. She or He had devised a quest where she and the other readers were to vote on the yearly plan a small communist nation in Asia would take as it navigated the decades and centuries amidst more powerful nations.

That it reminded the readers so much of their own homeland only made the debates even more passionate.

Right now, the nation's leader had discovered a potentially powerful secret project hidden by his predecessor, and so they voted for what kind of project it would be. And as she finally approved the message and cast in her vote, Ji-Woo could only hope that her fellow readers would see that her choice was clearly the right one.

After all, who doesn't like catgirls?

Note: Well I brought it up, so I may as well take responsibility. Enjoy. 👀

Edit: Why is a scientist from the Institute of Sexual Sciences in the compound? Why, to study the effects of prolonged confinement to a military facility on the sexuality of the personnel, of course! Also, possibly any effects of prolonged exposure to mechas to one's sexuality as well. :V
