Super Robot Quest

Typically they don't have an airstrip or landing pad directly in the garrison, but they're serviced by a nearby Air Defense Force base that has a squadron or two on standby or on roaming patrols. They don't have the air strikes right there, but they can make it to you in decent time.

Though keep in mind, the V-33s are really new. Besides the chunk that Armistead's gotten, you have the highest concentration of them in the world right now.

Hey Basarin. What's the "typical" EUDF garrison have in terms of air units?

Not much if that fort was any indication.

Either way, a gunship rarely has adequate defenses in their upward cone--the rotors get in the way. Technically, it should be defended as well, but the rotors getting fucked up too bad means he's grounded, and while I have little doubt this thing can fight on the ground, it'd be a weakness.

[X] Whoever said Dogfighting is dead?

A great update to read before I go get surgery tomorrow.

Eh... I suspect that it's a twin rotor/duct design, if not more. Therefore it could have CWIS or Triple-A on it's dorsal surface.

I'll tally up votes and conduct the rolls tomorrow. I've got something of a busy day ahead of me.

Hope everyone's enjoying the quest so far. :)

Incidentally, what does the Pilum look like, roughly? And can we get one for ourselves?

It looks suitably ridiculous.

Imagine the most unwieldy, maintenance heavy, and ungainly gunship you can think of.

Then add the Westphalian Black Market's modifications: even more weapons than it's rated to carry, and modify it to detach parts of its hull to become claws because why not.

It would not be too far out there to assume Pak threw this in there for the hell of it.

You can't exactly buy these things anymore in the Earth Union, since the business that originally made it, well, isn't in business anymore. This is all cobbled together by the best the Black Market can provide.

Depending on how the rest of the fight progresses, you might be able to salvage something.

Huh. I was expecting a "gunship", not an Apache.

Westphalians confirmed as Literally Orks with this and their backstory.

...Yikes.

I use that image as mainly an example for the sheer silliness of it. But that's basically what they bolted onto there for the most part.

And, well, they's not green. So iz they propah boyz?

Also, the Lore section has updated! Westphalia has been added!

Alright, signing out for the night. Take care, see you all sometime tomorrow!

So a pseudo mobile armor.

Just for good measure:

[X] Plan: Whoever said Dogfighting is dead?

Time to dance with the angels!

So a pseudo mobile armor.
Well, we're effectively in the "dawn of mobile suit" era. We're fielding a Gundam, so having a Big Zam go against it is just proper.

A few years down the line, we'll be fielding NEXTs against Arms Forts.

tl;dr ESCALATION!

@Alectai, speaking mechanically Callaghan can either do 2 conventional strikes or fire the shock cannon to try and debuff.

If Warlord is stunned due to alpha striking it's better to switch to offense and forgo the shock cannon in order to deal the maximal amount of damage, otherwise to try and hamper Warlord by using shock cannon in order to bait him into using the alpha strike again (If shock lands the quadruple claw attack only rolls 1 dice for each attack).

He's not stunned anymore. I still do hope the Callaghan is doing a Shock Cannon Strike whenever possible though, because fucccck that claw spam.

But he is shocked until turn 7? Which, granted, means that if Warlord wins the initiative again he recovers before Callaghan can strike again; but if Callaghan goes first he can attack before the Pilum can get back into the fight.

(Also in general if Warlord decides to Alpha strike again).

We failed to Shock him when we shot him.

That's why he shouts so loudly, no? Interface demands it.

On less humorous note, I think Lightning Kick or variation thereof would do very nicely with Foxhound or still hypothetical three-way combination of Beowulf, Shepard and TMU-33.

And it was only right that as the Union's champion, I announce myself.

This was my battle. My time.

I raised my fist into the air, and I announced myself to the world.

REPPU GATTAI!
FOXHOUND FORMATION!

You look again at Sasaki.

She steadfastly remains focused on the screen.

You sigh. "You're within your rights, I know," you mutter as you put a hand to your face.

"As long as we can agree, Sir," she cheerfully agrees.

"Get 'em, Lieutenant!" Katarina cheers.
The best part. Not only it's dramatically appropriate, it also highlights the individualities of Callaghan and Sasaki.

"YOU..." The pipe in his mouth finally snapped from the pressure, falling to the floor as it was forgotten in favor of rage.
The part I was waiting for.

Imagine the most unwieldy, maintenance heavy, and ungainly gunship you can think of.
It's a turret. A turret on the underside of a helicopter. No, wait, there's something like another turret there. This is... I just...

Oh, well. At least the picture is not exactly how a Pilum looks, just a rough approximate. I'm going to comfort myself by imagining some saner design.
