[X] Plan: Prototype Power
Our plans are pretty similar. Want to combine them? Your plan is missing my Jackal squadron but other than that they are pretty much the same.Okay, so, I think I have a plan.
[X] Plan: Prototype Power
-[X] SV-10 Shepherd
-[X] Heavy Weapons (1 RP)
-[X] V-33 TMU 'Viking Configuration' Flight (3 RP)
-[X] Coyote Squadron (1 RP)
EXPLANATION: We have a choice between our heavy combat pack and our nimble, high agility pack. The latter was my initial consideration, but I quickly realized that the one thing we can't achieve through any other means is the sheer, brute power that the Shepherd provides--and that's precisely why we need to take it. Provide enough guns, rockets, and ammo to be able to fight at full potential for an extended period of time--and seem threatening even in the Jackal Custom if need be while we send the Shepherd to handle search and rescue in time for a combination.
We bring a squad of TMUs to give us air support, which covers the weakness that not having the Flight Pack gives us, and we have the Coyotes to handle search and rescue while Callaghan and our prototype unit catches enemy attention and does the heavy lifting, with the TMUs making sure that they stay paying attention.
Might be able to squeeze a conventional Jackal squadron in there too, but we've still got things to do outside of this event. K-Scale is right out. We can't afford a two month delay on further K-tech research when we're already behind!

I would rather be over prepared than find ourselves lacking. and I agree with you about the K-Scale choice. leave it out.It does leave us a bit tight on research, I will admit. But it's a possibility. I don't think there's a need to stack up though unless something else takes the lead.
It's a shame we only have one pilot candidate, otherwise it would be nice if we could send multiple mechs.
Resource Point Income: 11 RP +2 RP (Landing Pad) – 2 RP (What is Dakka?, Kaiju Valley) = 11 RP Total
Somewhere in the sleep-deprived parts of your brain, you realize your flights of fancy of creating a bridge-like command center might have actually been a good idea
In short? Reconnaissance at the bare minimum, combat support if possible. You know up until now we've had no visual confirmation of the Kausen anywhere.
And if we engage any of the Kausen?"
"I'd prefer your pilot to keep his distance."
1LT Richard Callaghan - Intuitive Piloting (You may Re-Roll One failed Strike or Agile Roll per Turn)
Jackal 'Callaghan Custom'
8 Hit Points (HP)
Conventional Weaponry (Can conduct Test Roll to Strike at Enemy Target at 2d6)
Agile (Can negate One successful Enemy Strike against Jackal. Conduct Test Roll at 2d6)
'RAMMING SPEED!' (Can configure into patrol truck form to make a ramming attack. Conduct Test Roll at 2d6. If successful, can attempt a free Strike at Disadvantage (1d6))
'Combine!' (May spend one Turn summoning Support Unit to conduct Combinable Configuration. Any attempted Enemy Strike is made at Disadvantage (1d6))
[] Coyote Squadron (You may attach One squadron of Coyotes. They are outclassed by any potential enemies, and they know it. That's not their job. While you are out there, you are going to damn well conduct rescue operations in the middle of a disaster zone, and they can provide reconnaissance while they're at it. Gains ???) (Costs 1 RP)
@Basarin Can we take the same option more than once? And can we take one of each of the choices?
Damn it, having only 1 combat-worthy(?) Pilot become our bottleneck, huh.
We're still in the Prologue Arc, so it's understandable, but...
Idea:
Try "recording" brain wave patterns done by Callaghan during combat, scrub the data until the generic signals remain, and use that for making better MMI command shortcuts so the rest of the Pilot Candidates can catch up easier.
That reminds me of the Amakusa from Crossbone Gundam, which is a mecha equipped with an AI that was supposedly patterned after the White Devil's combat data. That, or having a working brain-computer should Callaghan die tragically. Of course, we would have to restrain ourselves from making more of these machines until the proper pilots die due "natural causes", not because we were being greedy.

But seriously, we should probably look into recording as much combat data for the current fight, and the future ones.
Hopefully, we got blackboxes and shit.
In my case I was poking fun at Front Mission 1, which had an important plot-point about using brain computers from former pilots and triggering a world war for SCIENCE!. That unfortunately long forgotten series is definitively about Real Robots.
Speaking of: Wasn't their "heavy mode" named "Long-shoot" first? When did it change to "Viking mode"?
Longship, actually.
That aside, I can see us picking up a plucky youth from this adventure here! We're in the prequel OAV right now, so this can very much be the backstory of the actual Protagonist we're going through right now!
(Callagan being the cool big brother sort who may or may not be doomed by plot)
(Seriously though, I'm still hoping for Mystery Waif as our main pilot this time instead of the convienent power battery, because cold-and-collected boy and hot-blooded boy are used all the time as the primary, I like my plot twists!)
Better be Kai "Martial Arts, with Manual Controls" Kitamura instead of Ingram "TIME DIVER" Plisken, I say.(Callagan being the cool big brother sort who may or may not be doomed by plot)
So, how would have things changed if any of the other character options won instead of being a Loggie? Especially in combat.
Just to know.
