Super Robot Quest

Sorry, mate. I have been, and will continue, pushing any vote I can towards building an almost-Evangelion. I just like the organic-ness of their style.
I actually like the thought of Organic tech, its NGE itself that I do not like. As long as we don't do when Hikari Tendo did and use his wife and son in his experiments, Its all good.

I mean, I meant "Gattai" in the sense of "Gattai all of our mechs, our allied Mechs, and the good-guy Kausen together into one gigantic super-robot fueled by BRAVERY and JUSTICE and HOPE and DETERMINATION".

Well it's a good thing that we aren't using humans as the genetic base for them then. Unless there's some sort of horrible secret regarding the kaiju. The synchronicity could be achieved using the c-crystals instead of the pilot's parents being used as the base (I don't know the specific reasons Shinji's mom was used as the genetic base for the EVAs). I personally welcome the concept of making something like the franxx but without the weird sex drive aspect.

Personally, I don't think we know enough about Kaiju for an organic super robot to be feasible yet.

As such, I believe our top priorities should be:
1. Getting Perseus's support team operational
2. Getting Satsuma and her robot to a deployable state.

Things I want to do next turn specifically:
1. Have Henry and Wilde organize a team to manage fabrication (idea is to give us 1 fabrication action per turn without needing an advisor overseeing it)
2. Reverse engineer the Brute wreckage. (It will give us more knowledge of Kausen blasters probably)
3. Start investigating that submarine.
4. Liaison with Dr Yukimara, to avoid any problems about Jiro working with us.

We're under orders to get a second platoon operational by the end of the year and the beginning of a third platoon started as well. We have already started on the Third Platoon with Satsuma, Well either Satsuma or Ichiro as the core of the third platoon. the other would be the core of the fourth platoon which we will probably start around the end of the next year. Basically I think we should plan on launching a super robot and its supporting platoon per year for 5 years if all goes well.

<ERROR: LOCALE UNKNOWN>

"...so in short, boss, you should be getting another shipment pretty soon," Bandit closed out the report. He did his best to not fidget in place - and he politely pretended to not notice that Scrapheap was doing the same next to him. Another time he would have given him sass over doing such a thing, but not when it was the big guy they were giving a report to. Just because Tyrannous was on the other side of the holo link didn't mean that he couldn't kill you by long distance.

As Hammerforge found out the hard way.

"Good, good." Tyrannous' visage was only being rendered from shoulder-up, leaving him appearing like one of those strange rock and mineral 'busts' the humans liked to keep around in their museums. Yet even through here, Bandit could tell that some superficial changes had taken place - clearly the boss mech had taken a liking PJH's gift. Again, no guarantee that he would be spared if something went catastrophically wrong - but at least it would buy him a few seconds to think about an escape route. "More of these...'Jackals' I take it?"

"Among other things, Lord Tyrannous," Scrapheap confirmed. The singular blue eye on his face twitched slightly, the rest of the sky-blue chassis that made up his body pockmarked with rust and damage he'd never bothered to clean up. An industrial crane hung lazily over his shoulder, both a mechanical tool in its own right and an indicator of his own configuration form. "The human population tends to concentrate raw industrial material and processed energies in dedicated depots. We have been able to make quite a few hauls."

"And one of them's already breaking atmo towards you," Bandit chimed in.

"But no sign of this 'Beowulf' I assume."

Bandit grimaced - there was no way to dissemble on this one. "Not yet, boss," he admitted. "Trust me, it ain't for lack of trying." One fist tightened into a fist - that particular playback video was one that always kept coming back in his optic feeds. For a moment, he almost forgot he was supposed to be afraid of his boss, rather than furious at that afthole that wrecked his faceplate. "Best we can do until we do find it is to keep making smash and grabs, and sending you what we find."

"Very well." Tyrannous nodded, his mind made up on something. "Even if you don't find this particular human warform, you have been doing well. For now." That turn of phrase brought Bandit back to reality - he was safe up to a point, it seemed. "Still, continue the search - but we need more materials and energy sources." Turning to Scrapheap, he asked, "From what you both have recovered, have the humans developed any new technologies that you can discern?"

"None as of yet, my lord," Scrapheap said. "I can only confirm that the 'Jackal' warform is becoming more and more prevalent among the humans' defense forces. New warforms are being manufactured, but none that we have come across in our search. And the underlying principles are otherwise the same from what we can observe." Scrapheap paused, as if he wondered if he should continue. "For such a backwards species, it is quite an impressive achievement," he admitted a moment later.

"So it is," Tyrannous agreed. "I do so wish I could meet the creators of this wonderful technology - right before I squish them to jammed paste with their own technologies. It's only polite, after all." Leaving the two with that bemusing segue, Tyrannous continued, "It is rather fortunate that the humans are so obsessed with infrastructure. It will make the next steps easier, considering."

"You never did tell us what the endgame is, boss," Bandit pointed out. "I know we're going to get out of this here dirtball eventually, and after we scrap the lawmechs into recyclables, but what else are we doing with all of this stuff?"

"Patience, Bandit," came the coy response. "All will be revealed in due time. We will have the greatest payout in all of recorded history - just as I promised you all when the Free Brothers started this venture. Until then..." With that, the communication feed cut off, leaving the bridge bereft of its pale light.

Immediately, both Bandit and Scrapheap let out a sharp exhale. "Metatron, that was tense-!"

"-really, very intimidating even over long distances-"

"-I know, right?" Once they both finally composed themselves, Bandit grinned. His toxic-green eyes flared just a bit more brightly. "I mean, glad it's done. And I told you that at least having something to give him would keep us online for another few cycles."

"So you did." The blue optic tilted slightly from Scrapheap's face, sending the light casting across his immediate area off-angle. Nonchalantly, he reached up with a clawed hand and simply twisted it back into place, not stopping until a satisfying click sound echoed. "I wouldn't be surprised if the previous shard shipment also put Lord Tyrannous in a better mood - it likely came in handy for the modifications he underwent."

"Crazy bastard tried to turn it down," Bandit recalled. "But I think he was in one of his moods at the time."

"At least he was distracted by the human aero." The optic swerved towards Bandit. "How did you even meet this 'PJH' anyhow?"

"The 'internet.'" Bandit shuddered. "I still feel filthy thinking about it. But he's open to doing more business - and apparently he has a line to some other defragged human who makes those giant monsters."

"Something to consider," Scrapheap agreed. "Now." A holographic map of the region populated onto the space where Tyrannous's visage had just been. "Shall we consider our next move?"

Somewhere over Death Valley

"...our next move?"

Ocular tilted his head slightly in midflight. It had taken him a few days, and more than a few false starts after triangulation had been slightly misleading. But there it was. The spike of communications on a frequency very few communications had any right being in. And Cavalier owed him an upgrade - he thought he couldn't find them!

While he drafted an initial message, Ocular continued to listen. The more they talked, the more likely he could find a general area for the others to strike...

Hey all. Sorry for the radio silence - while I do get some days off for Christmas, I also still work through it. I wanted to get something out now though, so hope this is enough as a prologue.

I hope everyone's had an uneventful Christmas!

Well now I have a feeling PJH is a human dealing with the free brothers. Which isnt good for us and just means another link to hunt down and arrest and imprison/kill to protect the Union. But it does make some sense on how effective the Free Brothers are beside there AI they have contacts on the Planet. Makes me wonder if this PJH is a Separatist?

Interesting...
They planning on facing down their govt in a rebellion or something?

huh interesting, Tyrannus killed a Mech named Hammerforge at some point. @Basarin Did Tyrannous kill Hammerforge before or after Galbinus left?

PJH (i believe his name is pak?) is one of the leaders of Westphalia. he's the one who makes all of the seperatist's warbots.

Yep, like a decently written Super Robot Wars plot, almost all baddies are related to each other, either directly or through an intermediary (original character or not).

So, given that we now have intel that all three enemy factions have at least tenuous methods of communication and that the Westphalians and Free Brothers definitely have been trading with each other, I think we should use this information to emphasize more research sharing and coordination with the Yukimura Institute and Mander Security Solutions

In particular, I believe we should aim for doing the following:
1. Create a support unit dedicated to harvesting samples from freshly killed Kaiju. We could then have this support unit work with the Mercury V, so we get samples from Kaiju the Mercury V kills, and we share the information gained from said samples with the Yukimura Institute. Also, we can share the results we've gotten from our current Kaiju samples.
2. We work with Mander Security Solutions to upgrade the Valiant with Kausen technology (Energy blasters, Zitruvium Plating) and possibly some of our K-tech weapons. If Westphalia is getting stuff from the Free Brothers, then Valiant will need better equipment to combat them.

Remember, even if the above seems to heavily favor the Yukimura Institute and MSS, that's fine, because stronger allies mean more trouble for our enemies. Also, even if we don't see benefits right away, giving them all this tech will mean they owe us favors.

That, and having viable secondary teams to pick up the slack in case the villains coordinate a multi-theater attack meant to tie up our forces.

'PJH', that sounds... strangely familiar. And what gift? It can't be form shifting, since they figured it out before this exchange.

On another note, You've done a good job on this quest @Basarin.

Thank you! And welcome aboard the (inconsistently updating) quest.

This was fairly recent.

Yep, like a decently written Super Robot Wars plot, almost all baddies are related to each other, either directly or through an intermediary (original character or not).

Complete with talking heads and dialogue windows!

All of them using eachother in a complex an deadly game of duck duck goose.

Artist's rendition of enemy factions' attempt to profit off one another.

Update should come...sometime soonish (?). Barring my schedule wonkyness as per usual.

Regarding the upcoming fight, I hope we at least manage to take out or at least permentantely scrap one of the two Free Brothers if not both. Losing one or both of them will be a blow to Tyrannous and his forces. Sure its just two Mechs that can be replaced with the Drones but those only go so far since the drones are basically pets and target practice, sometimes at the same time come to think about it. But my point stands that if both get away its a defeat. if we manage to get one of them its a victory. If the impossible happens and we get both its a major victory.

Oh, it's already December 31st.

The day the entirety of mankind turned into TANG the Human Instrumentality Plan was completed... in ONE timeline, anyway.

Have a nice day, @Basarin and everyone.
