the Mecha line being a more power focused variant of the sonic robots is a fan theory. we don't have information on why they were built.

however, for this quest the Mechas are being treated as the intermediate stages of development, they're the unfinished imperfect attempts to create a true Metal duplicate.

Eh it's a mute point anyway. The Qms really did say that we have to go through several variants like Mecha before we reach Metal Selvaria.

Thought also depends of what hero unit you try to copy,
Pulling a Metal Sonic with Selvaria…won't be as easy as you think, if you are trying to copy her Valkyrie powers to any extent, that do is gonna requiere lots of research. You are not pulling a Metal version if anything at first try, even Eggman has to go throught Mecha and similar variants with Sonic before getting Metal.

I feel a Metal Selvaria would be uh, counterintuitive to getting her to join us?

Not sure how a Metal Version of a character and their 'Original' being on the same team would feel.

I prefer the Egg Bosses over any of the Grandmaster, the former is much more interesting and don't run risk of triggering Pre-SGW!Eggman that has gone mad for not be able to beat Sonic and he never manage to recover completly and created that insane plan of his to rewrite the multiverse. That was insane even by his standards.

Say what you want about Games/IDW!Eggman but he never lose his mind for not be able to beat Sonic.

Not only that but the Metal copy need to beat they organic counterpart only once to unlock it as a full blow Hero Unit instead of a really, really powerful badnik. Since presume once that happens the Metal copy will evolve beyond they programming and develop free will, more or less.
 
Oh by the way, if anyone's primary goal is to avoid Selvaria's canon fate over recruiting her I do have a dangerous propisition to propose as I think I know someone who has the ability to Turn and Save Selvaria.

I actually agree with this statement. Unfortunately, we'd need to accomplish the intermediary step of somehow recruit Cream the Rabbit. Mostly because I don't think there's really a way to get Cream and Selvaria to interact otherwise.

There's no way Metal Selvaria would allow her counterpart to escape their fabled rivary with something little like 'death.' She'd smack some sense into the girl with her lance if she ever tried to blow herself up.

Honestly Cream isn't the worst place for tramatized people of mass destruction to end up. They'll get a much happier life and they won't be our problem.

We'd need the Egg Emperor and know where the Valkof is but I'm all for it!

Well technically we don't need to recruit Cream and her slowly terrifyingly growing faction of Heroes.

We just need to tell her there's someone in a bad relationship who could use a friend and some help and point her at Selvaria.

The consequence of course, is that Selvaria likely joins Cream's Faction.
 
Cream, being Cream, is one of the most likely Sonic characters to give Eggman the benefit of the doubt if he truly has shown signs of changing, but she would still be hard to recruit because she's naive and innocent, not stupid. She wouldn't immediately throw her lot in with "Mr. Sonic's biggest meanie".

Plus Vanilla would be much more suspicious, not even getting into their robot buddies.
