And mine is from an old Dragon magazine cartoon.

--Dave, weapon-type-vs-AC factors, those were the days
There's a cartoon I still remember, with a dragon in front of a castle with a hopeful look on his face, and a bag full of armor bits.

Knight to another knight on the battlements: "He wants a refill."

Snippet - Dragons and Capes and Maids... Oh, My!
Summertime 2011, Brockton Bay

It's summertime in our favorite open air cape asylum known as the City of Brockton Bay, NH. People are out on the Boardwalk, picking up knickknacks from the street vendors, and enjoying the typical summertime snacks. There are a lot of tourist types out in the fair weather, hoping to catch a glimpse of something Brockton Bay is famous for, besides Capes.

Yes, people are out looking for Dragons. Once again, they are missing things that are right in front of them.

You have a few fans of naval vessels marveling at the King George V class battleship sitting at anchor in the harbor, along with a Renown class battle cruiser, and a whole squadron of lesser cruisers and destroyers, all flying the British Royal Ensign.

There are the cape tourists, out getting pictures of Glory Girl chasing Uber and Leet, who have been taking shots at Brockton Bay's notorious heroine with a gun that shot banana crème pies, usually at her. What was interesting was the fact that if they shot at someone else, it would deliver the pie to their hands - Glory Girl's pies would attempt to strike her in the face. People could only wonder what kind of tinkertech bullshit Leet had used this time.

"Bah," said one particularly laconic tourist. "No Japanese ships." She had rusty hair of shoulder length, brown eyes, and a slumped posture that spoke of many hours hunched over a keyboard at work, coding away at whatever project she'd been assigned. She was dressed conservatively, in somewhat fashionable shorts, t-shirt, and comfortable sandals.

"Why are we here again, Kobayashi-san?" asked her slightly taller companion, a busty blonde wearing casual clothing that matched the aforementioned Kobayashi-san.

"We're here because I got transferred to help run the new office for Dracotech information services, Tohru, and you decided to join me." She looked around, then sighed. "We're waiting for my boss to show up because she has the keys to the new building."

They were soon joined by a rather mismatched trio. The tallest was woman who could be used as a caricature of the word buxom, but you wouldn't dare when you realized how genuinely nice a person she was. Her hair was blonde, with the ends died, and she was wearing a top that looked like it was approaching its failure point under tension, with a pair of short shorts, thigh length hose, and a pair of comfortable tennis shoes. It always appeared that her eyes were closed. Right now, her eyes were open and displaying one of the most startling cases of heterochromia ever seen.

She turned to the teenaged boy who was walking with her. He was stereotypical Japanese; black hair, brown eyes, a somewhat athletic build, and conservatively dressed. "Thank you for lunch, Shouta-san," she said. "You didn't have to tell that rather obnoxious young man to go away and be rude to someone else."

"Lucoa-san, we've been through this before; if you won't fight, then I'll have to fight for you." Shouta himself didn't look like he'd been in a fight, but then again, a quick jujitsu hold, and Probably-Francis had dropped the knife he'd threatened Lucoa with.

"I know, it just makes you even cuter." With that, she ruffled Shouta's hair.

The third person of the trio was just a hair under Shouta's height, happily munching away on an ice cream cone. She had long, pale lavender hair which faded to violet at the tips, with some wooden beads tied in roughly at waist level. She was at that awkward stage where the young girl was beginning to grow into a young woman, so she was kind of gangly. Unremarkable was the style in which she dressed; a white t-shirt with pink sleeves, blue jeans, and comfortable looking pink tennis shoes.

"I think there was something wrong with that one," she said after demolishing her cone. "Couldn't you have fixed him, Lucoa-san?"

Lucoa sighed, her heaving bosom an impressive site that caused several nearby males and females to walk into solid, unyielding objects. "Kanna-chan, we've been through this before. Yes, I could 'fix' them, but they have to want to be able to change for it to stick."

Kobayashi was about to say something when Tohru, Lucoa, and Kanna all stopped to watch a local Cape patrol walk by. It was unusual in the fact that the noticeable one was the rather large dragon that was walking down the boardwalk with a rider on its back.

"Does she have no dignity?" Tohru muttered under her breath.

"I think she can hear you," Kobayshi replied with a frown, and pointed towards the golden dragon, who was staring at them.

"Been a while since I've seen any of those," Lucoa added, waving at Naurelin and Vista. "I thought they were all dead."

Naurelin and Vista came to a halt as they watched the group of five individuals sitting in front of Dracotech's new Brockton Bay offices. "Console, Vista: Be advised, Naurelin states there are three new dragons in the area, currently waiting for someone outside of the Dracotech offices."

"Vista, Console : Affirmative. Update from Dragon, she knows about them. Introduce yourself politely, if you feel it necessary."

"Affirmative, Vista out."

Vista dismounted from Naurelin's shoulder with an eye-watering spatial warp, then Naurelin shrank down into her dragon girl form, and crossed the street. The tall, busty one was clapping at the trick, while the blonde in the summer clothes was glaring and growling at Naurelin. Before Vista or Naurelin could react, the normal looking woman with the group smacked her.

"Stop that," she admonished the blonde.

Conversation stopped as the front door of the building was unlocked with a loud 'Clack!' of a rather substantial locking mechanism being retracted. The door opened, and they were joined by a tall woman in business casual clothes, her dark hair pulled back into a ponytail. "Good morning!" Her greeting was infectiouslly cheerful. "You must be Sara Kobayshi?"

"Yeah, that's me," Kobayshi said getting up. "You must be my boss?" She offered her hand for a handshake.

"Yes, I'm Theresa Richter." Theresa took Kobayshi's hand, and gave it a firm handshake. "Come on in, and we'll get the last bits settled. Naurelin, Vista? You can come in, too. I've cleared it with Director Renick and Major Piggot."

With a nod, Naurelin shifted down to her completely human form, and they all entered the building.

From the street, people soon heard a cry of utter despair from a young girl within the building. "There's no donuts?!?!"

Have a bit o' silliness on this blustery, blizzardy day (here in the middle of the US).

Been sitting on my HD for the better part of a year, figured I'd share it anyway, as I haven't gotten much farther with it.

I don't know how to react, this is both Amazing and Ridiculous and Stupid but Epik and Genius and AAAAGGGGH TOO CONFUSION

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid had been a pleasant surprise of fluff when I had watched it, nice to see a non-canon drive-by crossover, at least, I'm assuming its non-canon considering the apocrypha tag.

Though, with some of the other bits that have made their way into the story I'm sure there's a tiny chance of this crew popping up for real, who knows

Thanks for adding some more silly to the story, it's been a fun ride so far

I could just see Kobayashi being a normal if impressively stable coder who was taking a vacation when Kyushu happened who just continued being a consistently stable coder that Dragon decided to hire for her consistency alone, while Lucoa and Shouta were visiting ruins when Kyushu happened. Probably in south Texas/lower New Mexico checking out some of the Incan ruins in the area. So, of course they went looking for Kobayashi as an adult who knows about dragons so would understand the difficulties involved in dragon rearing amongst humans and to act as a trusted adult for Shouta. All of this while just watching capes become a better explanation for the occasional bout of shenaniganry to blow off steam from keeping it a secret.

oh... oh my god, first we hear of Kobayashi second season this season, then my Favorite Game ever release trailer with my favorite character, then The rise of the Shield Heroine is released too and Now this?

THE YEAR 2021 IS THE BEST!

Heh. The hardest part about putting that bit together...

Coming up with a first name for Kobayashi-san. Sara is a fairly common Japanese girl's name (according to a number of sites), so I figure that would work.

Thank you. I needed to get a bit of silliness out there, because things are getting darker. I mean, I'll try to inject some levity in the next two chapters, but Nazis and Endbringers make it difficult.

true unless you try to wiggle some crude or not slap stick comedy in cause unless you does it from the start and makes it not so grimdark cause really BB is stuck between druggies who will force a drug addiction on someone just to get customers/members, Neo-Nazi's who's target anyone if they don't openly support their view of things led by a power hungry arsehole and basically Asian supremacist's in the form of a Yakuza/Triad style gang under a rage dragon and then there's the PRT/Protectorate who are more interested in keeping a 'balance' yet they conveniently patrol regularly the boardwalk {tourist trap and higher end shopping area} and the rich area of BB with 'show the flag' patrols every now and then in other area's if not called in by someone to a fight in the area, cause I mean really if 'piggy' really wanted to clean up BB she would've talked to her state senator/congressman about getting military help cleaning up what had essentially become and least 2 domestic terrorist groups one which is lead by a foreign national {Lung} and the whole 'no outing cape/civie ID's' should only be enforced for heroes not use it as a excuse to not go after villains and that's if the US government didn't just sign kill orders for the various gangs parahumans *sighs* there's a lot in canon worm that are huge plot holes but then again it's series that have such huge/numerus plot holes that make for having a lot of fanfics

... I now wonder how the local dragons would react if/when it somehow slips out that Tohru has been trying to get Kobayashi to eat roast dragon tail.

Oh yeah...the next arc is quite dark.

Not to mention, writing it requires the OP to do extensive research on what made the Nazis tick. Yeah...there's a reason CTC didn't update before the holiday hiatus and now is only 3 weeks ahead.

Ack, Eyes bleeding.... I will politely ask that you acquaint yourself with the use of the enter button when posting, please? It would make your post much easier to read.

Right now, there is only one parahuman led gang operating in Brockton Bay, and that's the Empire 88.

Coil came apart when his power pushed too hard and gave him an aneurysm. Lisa cleaned him out, split the money between the ex-Undersiders, and is working on going legit, mainly as a private investigator. Then, fluffy tails happen.

The ABB started to come apart when Lung got beaten at the dragon game. His normal lieutenant, Li Xiao, kept various parts of the gang running. Then Bakuda came along, didn't do her homework, and raised hell in Brockton Bay. We all know how that turned out. In the end, Naurelin and Mizuchi are handling the ABB. Li Xiao has been continuing the work of dismantling the nastier business pursuits of the gang, per Lung's last instructions. Lung's wife is currently the owner of several profitable, legitimate businesses, which includes a studio specializing in adult entertainment.

The Merchants basically self destructed; Squealer got apprehended and literally scared Straight. Skidmark got upset when Hunts-The-Ice grabbed a portion of the territory he'd claimed, and gave some very broad instructions about what to do, which caught Panacea in the crossfire. Trainwreck and Mush decided they didn't want to host a visit from the Triumvirate, so Trainwreck gently tapped Skid's head with a steel shod fist, and handed him over to the PRT.

This leaves the Empire 88, whose lower echelons are starting to get pushy and are throwing their weight around. It gets mentioned in an upcoming chapter, that other parahuman gangs are rather reticent about moving into Brockton Bay. You can guess why.

Re: The holiday Hiatus - Was actually because Corsair Components wrote a crap driver for their RGB backlit keyboards, which put my machine into a BSOD loop at startup. It took me 18 hours to get that sucker out of the machine. But as mentioned, looking into the motivations of Nazis led me to some very dark places; I had two grandfathers who served in Europe during WW2, and both had to deal with Concentration camps in Bavaria. I have read their journals, and it is not something you want to read before bed.

I am, by nature, a tolerant person; I judge each person on their own merits. I find Intolerance, Racism and Bigotry confusing, and just plain stupid.

...didn't the studio animating it/own the copyright literally physically die in a fire?

How is a second season being made???

Is necromancy real?!?!?!
Not necesarily, While the building DID burn down, I DARE you to tell me there aren't any kind of backups for a studio such as Kyoto Animation. Plus the fans and some high powered executives (read: politicians) sent a TON of support to the studio AND it's remaining employees, so It shouldn't be THAT surprising.
EDIT: just to avoid ANY misunderstandings, by backups for Kyoto Animation, I meant off site data or things of that sort, not a replacement for Kyoto Animation, That's just disrespectful.

No, some of the animators and such died, but it was just one of the studio buildings that went up. They're still producing the next season.

That said, the guy in question is looking at a very long drop on a very short rope considering how Japan does things.

There was a fire at the studio that produced the first season, yes. Didn't destroy the studio, but killed an awful amount of the staff, including the director for Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. So no, necromancy's not real. Regeneration, however, is. :)
