Was playing Modded Skyrim a while ago. Might play some more, I don't know.

Anywho, do you guys have a favorite character from this quest? If so, what makes you like them?

  • [X] Check on Kohaku real quick, to see if she's feeling better enough to come get and hold down some soup.
-[X] If she is, accompany her out. If not, get a bowl for her and carefully store it in the Gauntlet for her to enjoy later.
--[X] Actually catch Kyoko's comment, and the implication, about your playing nurse for Ko so much. Just look her in the eye and tell her a marker isn't the only thing you can prank with.
-[X] Have some food with your family and friends. Maybe talk about training with magic later- Like just learning how to heat and cool water- just basic things you skipped over when you jumped to chucking fireballs. Maybe see what cool things your friends have been up to- any thing fun recently? Maybe just take a breath and soak in the atmosphere of the table as you friends chatter on. Let's take this in. Because this- This right here? This is what you're fighting for. These times right here. And no matter what- You swear on everything you are, you'll all be here doing this again tomorrow. Maybe with another ally- new friends who have aided you in the coming fight- but you swear everyone will be here- everyone will live through the hardship- everyone will come out of this Better then before. You'll protect these sunlit, cheerful days.
--[X] That is what you are fighting for.
[X] Over dinner, ask Sayaka how the healing lesson went
-[X] If it went badly, maybe you can recommend a Demon with Diarama that she can fuse and she can learn it that way. Oriko's ability to see Mitamas with her Precognition would definitely help here
--[X] And on that note, ask the middle school Demon Summoners what Demons they have at the moment. Madoka mentioned she has two for non-lethal takedowns, but she didn't mention specifics beyond one of them having Lullaby, and you don't know what Sayaka and Hitomi have besides Sayaka's Doppelganger
---[X] You should probably remember to ask Homura what Demons she has when she gets back

I mean, Yumi's super fun and has almost as many layers as an ogre. Kohaku's implied to have some training in badassery herself if she can get free from that constant voice in her head tearing her self-worth down.

Mami will always be my favorite PMMM character, which makes that episode in the anime and that one part of a certain spin-off manga really hurt.

Shoji's timebomb might have been defused with that conversation about how he doesn't need to go all "Macho Manly Man (tryhard-fake)" arc to stand with us, but we still need to follow up on that with training. Maybe helping him recruit and fuse some demons and learning some magic (assuming he didn't recruit somebody in the Fairy Village already)...

Hmm. I don't feel like I have one single favorite character in this quest, oddly enough? Not in an emotional sense. But going by how much thought I've put into a character's pre-quest background and what psychology would lead to the mix of comedy, and raging (or trying to not be raging) badassery that is current-day Yumi, I guess she's probably my favorite quest character by default. :)

Yuma. She's... she didn't have a good home life. She suffered and lived through a horrible thing... and yet look at her. Look at how she plays with the cheese lass herself. Look at how much she is already loved by the nightmares that call her their master. Look at the family that's taken her in as she slowly has begun to heal.

It's too early to say she will recover- but I'm betting on it. She is Yumi's sister after all.

And the Nightmares- The little girl herself, someone who has lived in despair, able to use that pain to do good. The little girl- through her own power, is able to undo witching herself and save the lost souls trapped in despair- give them a chance to heal as she carries their burdens. The little girl who has so much potential- who could rival Yumi in strength in her own way.

Yuma, in this quest practically- I love her, and wish for us to give her a chance to SHINE. For us to give her the tools needed to thrive. I hate the idea of her fighting, of her having to face the monsters coming... But even as we push Yumi to guard her from it, I want to make Yuma and to hold her own all the same. Hopefully we can see if Stephen can get her something to aid in being a Nightmare Summoner- As I wish for her to follow her talents, so she's not going to need the Summoning program as it is.

Yuma just- She just has a soft part in my heart- and honestly could be the protagonist in of herself. A unique power that's her own given to her by a powerful warrior, the ability to save those twisted into monsters, the Chatty aid who loves her but won't say. Again I just- Love her so much ya know!

[X] "What do you mean you're at soup?!"

Before you serve yourself, you decide to check up on Kohaku. Grandma, who has grabbed bowls for Sayaka and Madoka, follows you out the door. As you pass, you glance at them...

...It looks like Madoka's doing great! She's conjured up a flame, and is keeping it in her hands. Sayaka, however...?

"I made an icicle?" She asks slowly before smiling, "I want to heal...!"

Stay strong, Sayaka.

You open the door to the guest bedroom, and predictably find Kohaku laying in bed. Her water is gone, the glass resting on the bedside stand.

"...Oh, Yumi." Kohaku turns to face you, "Is there... something you wanted?"

"I just wanted to check up on you, see if you wanted some dinner, y'know?" You explain, sitting down at the foot of the bed, "So, are you feeling up to it?"

"I... I think so." She mumbles, trying to sit up. She winces, holding her head.

"Don't force yourself!" You raise your hands, "Here, let me help!"

Kohaku doesn't resist as you help her to sit up. In fact, she doesn't move too much even after you've sat her upright.

"Kohaku?" You hazard, "Are you...?"

"No." She replies almost instantly, "Not just because of... This." Kohaku lazily gestures to herself.

"You, uh... Wanna talk about it?" You try to offer a calming smile...

(CHR ROLL: 14+10)

"You know I'm here for you, right? We all are!" You put a hand on her shoulder, "You don't have to shoulder anything alone!"

Kohaku sighs, closing her eyes, "I'm scared."

"Scared of what?" You ask, "Tomorrow? We'll come out the other end in one piece."

"No, not tomorrow." She shakes her head, "Just... Mom and I never really got along, but I didn't want her to... And now, Father is almost here, and I can't stop... Hearing him."

You blink in surprise, not sure how to reply to that.

"Father told me, while he was..." Kohaku shivers, trying to put on a brave face, "...Cursing me, that I would always be under his control. He said, nothing I'd do, or say, or want, or feel would ever matter. I am a cog in a machine, a hand on a clock. I do my job, then I..."

"Kohaku..."

"Whenever I think I can be calm, or let my guard down, I hear him." Her voice begins to waver, "He says... Horrible things, a-and I know they aren't true, but... They're spoken as fact. And I can't...!" She's beginning to tear up, "...I can't argue back! No matter how much I plead, or scream, or claw at my own skull, he just keeps going, until...!"

(ALIGNMENT OVERRIDE: ACTION AUTOMATICALLY TAKEN.)

"No." You state firmly. "That man is a cruel, uncaring monster pretending to be a father. He knows nothing about you, and the fact that he only strikes when you're vulnerable?" You ball your free hand into a fist, "He's just a pathetically weak opportunist. You are who you choose to be, Kohaku, not what others decide for you. No "prophecy" is ever gonna change that. Your feelings matter. Your choices matter. You matter!" You huff in anger. Of course, not at Kohaku, "I don't care how many times he's said it, or how he tries to spin it! You. Matter. If he even tries to say otherwise again, I'll shut him up." You're honestly a little out of breath...

Kohaku doesn't reply, simply remaining still.

"We'll always have your back. Even if the sky falls around us." You take a few deep breaths, trying to regain your composure, "...Let's get you something to eat, okay?"

"...Yeah." She replies quietly. You hazard a glance at her...

...She's crying. But not our of fear.

"Alright. I'll help you up, okay?" You stand up, wrapping your arm around her, "Ready? One, two, three!"

She stands, although she's still leaning against you. Kohaku wipes her eyes with her sleeves, putting her arm around your shoulders, "What's for dinner, anyways?" She's still a little upset, but she's trying.

"Chicken soup. Maybe it'll help you feel better?" You offer a sympathetic smile.

"One way to find out." She weakly smiles back, and you open the door, discreetly helping her to the dining room.

Instantly, Kyoko waves, "I thought you died or something!" She snarks, "Welcome back to the land of the living!"

"Only a little." Kohaku jokes back tiredly, "I was hungry."

Yuma waves to Kohaku, "You look better, Ms. Kohaku!"

"Unfortunately, I don't feel too much better...!" She smiles at Yuma.

Carefully, you seat Kohaku, and get yourselves a bowl of soup. After that, you just eat, taking in all of the conversations going on around you.

Kyoko saw a demon riding the bus. It didn't hurt anyone, so she hesitantly left it be.

Yuma and Kohaku are talking about drawing. Maybe they can draw together sometime.

Oriko, Hitonari and Kazuya have all begun planning for tomorrow. Hitonari and Kazuya seem to be getting along.

This.

This right here.

This is why you fight.

Just for times like these.

You swear on everything you are, that no matter what, you'll all be here to do this again tomorrow. Maybe, you'll even have some new friends join you. Perhaps they'll have been allies in you battle against the Disciples.

But... You swear that everyone here will be here. Everyone will endure their hardships, and come out even better than before. You'll protect that sunny day, so close yet so far away.

As long as you draw breath, you're not letting anyone get hurt.

(YUMI'S RESOLVE HAS REDOUBLED. +1 TRAIT SLOT.)

...But, onto more pressing matters...

...What should you do about tonight?

None of these paragraphs are properly separated.

Carefully, you seat Kohaku, and get yourselves a bowl of soup.
I understand what this is saying, but I feel like it should be worded as "get the two of you a bowl of soup each". That might just be me, though.

... As much as I hate the melodrama, I cannot complain about getting another Trait Slot... although, at the moment, I kind of feel like a couple more Skill Slots might have been more useful.

Good question.

[X] You should definitely try to attune to as many Terminals as you can before the night ends. That will make redeploying to deal with different groups of hostiles much easier. Ask your grandparents and Hitomi if they can give you a list of the Terminals they're aware of after dinner
-[X] After that, ask Sayaka how the healing lesson went
--[X] If it went badly, maybe you can recommend a Demon with Diarama that she can fuse and she can learn it that way. Oriko's ability to see Mitamas with her Precognition would definitely help here
---[X] And on that note, ask the middle school Demon Summoners what Demons they have at the moment. Madoka mentioned she has two for non-lethal takedowns, but she didn't mention specifics beyond one of them having Lullaby, and you don't know what Sayaka and Hitomi have besides Sayaka's Doppelganger
----[X] You should probably remember to ask Homura what Demons she has when she gets back

AYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY-

BOYS I DID- WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I LOVE CHARACTER GROWTH BABYYYYYYYYYYY- I LOVE IT WHEN YOU GET STRONGER BY CHARACTER GROWTH EVEN MORE- WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-

Alright, That's enough of that for now.

As for what we should do- Well? I think it's time for some practice. Idea is simple really, if we learn how to bend magic to do non lethal/non combat things... Well should that not make controlling and optimizing our spells easier? I'm sure there is a lot of room for us to improve and lower the cost of magic just by training after all! Of course also cantrips baby-

[X] Well. There is only one thing you can do about tonight- A sleepover, training, movie night????? Bring it up with your Grandparents and friends.
-[X] The idea is simple, you're all gonna be busy preparing for the fight tomorrow- either in the fight or being ready to protect our families in case someone decides not to play fair, so we should have a simple study session for both magic and maybe school if they need it. Nothing too burdening at all on the magic front, just practice with control and creativity. Your sure Grandma already knows how to use magic to heat or cool drinks in your hands- because she's Grandma, and that sounds like a good way to train control and optimization with spell casting for everyone. She probably also has some other mini spells to help you get comfortable with other elements too!
--[X] Like for instance- Water! Sure it might just be like ice magic, but it's also it's own thing as well right? And mention since water also kinda has the whole concept of healing tied to it, Sayaka may be able to heal easier with water being a focus of her spell casting. Just a thought.
---[X] And also... Bring up the idea you had for making Kamen rider devices for the group. Cause like, the magical girls can transform with magic right? There should be no reason you can't recreate that for all of you! Didn't one magical girl show call those Barrier Jackets? Those could be pretty handy- as well as give M.A.G.E. united uniforms! Stephen made an app able to summon demons after all- what can't you do when combining tech and magic?
---[X] Don't forget Yuma! She practically doesn't have any magical training herself- well first see if her friend Nagisa would like to join in on this potential sleep over- and if they're both here, see if you can't focus on teaching them some cool tricks- with Grandma's help of course!
-[X] But of course, this is also a chill night- and you can't just magic all night! First, you should call up the Chief and do your bi-daily check in- Wait no you did that yesterday? Maybe? You should maybe call just to make sure- You should also call Uncle and see if he has been talking to the police about tomorrow and their plans. Your gonna need to work together to make sure no one gets hurt when the cult- no these "Terrorists" arrive.
--[X] And while you're at it- Lets cheat at bit! You got a terminal right near by- and a friend who knows about it and have probably been registering a bunch- so ask Hitomi to take you and everyone who is up for it on terminal registering tour!
---[X] And if the sleepover is happening... well what movie? Something the little ones can watch of course!

I like this- But of course feel free to edit this and work on it as well! Let's make the most of this night gang!

First, since when is this a thing in this either of these settings?

Second, if it is, since when does Yumi know that?

First, you should call up the Chief and do your daily check in- It's about time right?
We are now supposed to report to Raido on this, and it's every other day. Proof;
"I'll have to read up to make sure, but... No." He shakes his head, putting his hat back on, "I won't scare you with "maybe"s or guesses. I need the facts." He gets up, walking to the door, before stopping at your counter. "Before I forget, I called the Chief the other day about the kid, Yuma Chitose. I'll be taking your reports from now on. Once every two days, okay?"

Aside from that, I feel like you are vastly overestimating how much can be done in three to six hours. Remember, everyone here (aside from probably Hitonari) needs to sleep tonight.

Have... Anime my good friend ANIME. Manga too. Hell just fantasy in general! Of course she would have these ideas in her head!

Also like- Water being connected to healing is like- a pretty central idea in society I think? Also there are spells in SMT that use water to heal, like the main characters healing spell in SMT 5.

But also it's Sayaka. Her thing is water. It makes sense why she's struggling to heal is because she isn't using the element she has affinity towards.

We are now supposed to report to Raido on this, and it's every other day. Proof;
... I guess? Did we report in yesterday?- time is hard to keep track of man. I will change that tho- so thanks!

... Like an hour to teleport around to all the Terminals Hitomi has registered tops, another for studying and another and half for movies. It's... not that much? As that's even if the movie thing even happens!

I don't think I am really. Especially if the sleepover doesn't happen. But still it's a good thing to think about!!!

Double checking through for keeping track of reporting for Yuma, Chapter 480, when Uncle Raido took over being the point of contact with the police, was two days ago. He also technically took a report on that day for the purposes of that system. Meaning today is when the next Yuma report is supposed to be made.

Caution, merging traffic. :p

[X] Plan Check-in with Raido
-[X] Step out into the back yard, call Raido, and say there's three things you need to talk about.
-[X] Report the whole situation that happened with Yuma's teacher today and the resolution.
-[X] Politely ask him if there are any other "obvious" summoner things you should know about, like the Terminals, or their nausea-causing interaction with curses, because both of those things would've been useful to know about earlier.
-[X] Inform him that you've roped in another ally, with military training and apparently near-future tech, who'll be assisting in handling the Disciples tomorrow.
-[X] "Alright, that's everything. And thanks for handling the situation at my apartment earlier -- send me the info on whatever cover-story I need to follow when you have time. I gotta go work on magic practice, see you in the morning." For once, don't be the one hung up on. :p
-[X] Ask your grandparents and Hitomi if they can give you a list of the Terminals they're aware of after dinner
-[X] After that, ask Sayaka how the healing lesson went
--[X] If it went badly, mention that people who have to put in more effort to learn tend to do much better in the long run, if they stick with things, because they had to try multiple approaches. Right now, she's learning a much better foundation for magic in general than the pre-packaged spells you have.
--[X] Maybe you can recommend a Demon with Diarama that she can fuse and she can learn it that way, if it comes to that. Oriko's ability to see Mitamas with her Precognition would definitely help here.
---[X] And on that note, ask the middle school Demon Summoners what Demons they have at the moment. Madoka mentioned she has two for non-lethal takedowns, but she didn't mention specifics beyond one of them having Lullaby, and you don't know what Sayaka and Hitomi have besides Sayaka's Doppelganger.
----[X] You should probably remember to ask Homura what Demons and magic she has to work with when she gets back -- and if she answers that she can't learn demon magic, suggest she check in with the Jack Bros. to see if they have elemental items she can use in lieu of it.
-----[X] Also extend the cleansing offer to her, and if she needs macca for the shopping trip give her the (admittedly chump change) amount cleansed from her Gem.
-[X] Okay, break over, time to practice magic yourself. Try learning to make a gentle breeze -- you'll never need a fan to cool you off that way, and if you keep working on the control maybe you can turn that Zandyne Jump into proper, controlled flight! Or some kind of compressed-air cannon.
--[X] Or, if wind doesnt work, try the other elements. A small flame, cooling ice... maybe skip electricity until later.
---[X] Ask Grandma to teach you that silencing spell she mentioned earlier... or was it yesterday... so much going on...

Have you ever read the Mitakihara Anti-Materials manga? That one is a timeline where Mami forcibly adopts Homura.

Didn't know it existed, but now it's joining the other ~200 open tabs.

Does Yumi know that Homura can't use Demon Magic? As far as I can remember, she's only told Madoka and Sayaka so far.

[X] Plan Check-in with Raido
Hmm... Not enough merging of traffic- I was expecting the highway to blow up by now.

At least suggest the wawa magic for Sayaka. I honestly feel like that is what she needs. She the water girl! Of course she would need the wawa to do the heal!

Still, good plan all the same! Just not enough MAGIC.

P3M: Surprised
"Sailor Mars, he's not trying to--!"

"He's attacking us!!" Mars snaps at her ally, cutting her off, "If we don't find a way to take that thing out, we're toast!"

The boy's... What did he call it? "Persona"? Thanatos roars in response, brandishing its sword. He is missing intentionally. Why...?

"Fire... Soul!" Mars tries again...

(RESIST: 1/2 DMG.)

...With Thanatos ignoring the attack. Thanatos swings his sword...

(INTENTIONAL MISS.)

He could've landed a decisive blow! Why is he holding back?!

>>"I'm not your enemy!"
>"Why aren't you running?"
>"Stop trying to kill me."
"Listen to me, damnit!" The boy shouts, holding his odd armament to his head, "We aren't the enemy here!"

"Youmas are the enemy, moron!" Mars shoots back, "And if you aren't with the Dark Kingdom, then--?!"

"Moon Tiara...!"

Everyone turns to see...

"Action!"

...Sailor Moon...!

(WEAKPOINT!!)
(MAKOTO ENDURED THE HIT!)

Sailor Moon's attack ripped right through Thanatos, causing it to disappear. You look back to the boy, who...

"Gyaaaah!"

...He's clutching where the tiara hit Thanatos, on his hands and knees. His breathing is unsteady and shallow.

No.

"Took you long enough, Sailor Moon!" Mars crosses her arms.

"I was getting my beauty sleep!" Moon crosses her arms right back, "I've got a busy day tomorrow!"

No.

"Now, Sailor Moon!" The cat shouts, "Destroy the Youma!"

"Oh, uh, right!" Sailor Moon readies her attack...

>"Don't...!"
>>Reach out to her.
>Try to attack.

His voice fails him as he reaches out to Sailor Moon.

No!

"Moon..."

You can't move. You're like a deer in headlights.

"Tia--?!"

"Sailor Moon, stop!" Mercury shouts, "They aren't a threat!"

"Wh-- Not a threat?! He was trying to attack us!" Mars growls, "What part of that is "not a threat"?!"

"He's never hit you, Sailor Mars!" Mercury argues fiercely.

"Because I dodged, duh!" Mars retorts, "Besides, he has a Youma with him! He's absolutely evil!"

The two Sailor Guardians argue amongst themselves, while Moon looks between them, unsure of what to do.

>"I'll hold them off."
>>"Just run."
>"When I attack, fall back."
"...Just run." The boy tells you, gritting his teeth, "I'll... Think of something."

Run?

Abandon him to their cruelty?

For what, to save yourself?

You have nowhere to return to.

...?! A voice...?!

He protected you.

From both Zoisite, and the Guardians.

Do you truly wish to condemn him to death?

"...No." You quietly shake your head.

So, you stand in the face of your demise, facing their punishment head on?

...Very well. I have heeded to your resolve, oh castaway.

Now, the pact must be sealed.

The very air around you changes. Your breathing hitches.

I am thou, thou art I.

Thou, who stands at the precipice of losing all that you hold dear, call upon me in thy hour of need!

Thou shalt no longer be faceless! Thou shall live thy life as thou seest fit!

Now, call thy power!

"I...!" You clench your fists, your claws digging into your palms, "I will not let you harm him!" You glare at your adversaries, flaring your wings, "You'll take no more from me this day!"

Mercury gasps, bringing down her visor. "Everyone, get--!!"

"Styx, come!!"

nah, more likely The Rat would "arrange" an "incident" to prevent them from getting in the way of Moon and Mars' neivete

There's a word missing here.

Does Yumi know that Homura can't use Demon Magic? As far as I can remember, she's only told Madoka and Sayaka so far.

Fixed both, thanks! ...wasn't even that late when I was writing it, sheesh.

Just not enough MAGIC.

Gonna be honest, I didn't like the Water-elemental healing idea. SMT has never been like that, SMT V need not apply thx, and I needed to get to sleep instead of staying up later writing up my own idea.

I'll put in a line in a moment. Edit: Ended up adding multiple lines. Here's hoping I don't end up late for the bus! :o

TO be fair tho- This isn't SMT anymore. I have been told by the QM that messing with magic and finding "new elements" is possible.

Let us not be afraid to dip out toes into the deep end. And again- Sayaka is the water healer. It is her BRAND and I am 100% confidence if she learned water magic she would become a REALLY good healer. It just- Just because she isn't a magical girl doesn't mean her magic isn't connected toward water at all. And we aren't touching water, we are only suggesting to Sayaka that water may help her- Because while that may be the reasoning YUMI has, we know how she is when Sayaka is a magical girl. We know her thing is water.

I am sorry for bringing up the game that is SMT 5 if that is why you do not wish to suggest the water magics. I am sorry for my sins- but please for the greater good of getting our OP healer- Let us water the Sayaka. Please

Other wise I realllllly like your vote- Just really want to suggest the water!

Let us not be afraid to dip out toes into the deep end.
That's what all the mad scientists say before they go crazy.
