Orc Quest; or, A Critical Examination of Agency Through in Interactive Fiction (Warcraft)

Vote is currently tied, generally I'd say be chill about it. Indeed neither the light nor shadow isn't going to disappear anytime soon. If you want to learn more about it I'm fine with creating situations for you to do so, it doesn't have to be this arc
I'm real chill on it. If I got a turn of just studying I'd just put one option in all the magic options. Light, arcane and shadow which should be the magic options available for study.

So for these ones where it's the first time you're starting looking into something, it's essentially going to be some basic exposition on how that particular magical school works, Grok will reflect on it, there might be a very early exploration, for example something using some sort of magic detector on Grok and saying that indeed he's very magically capable etc.

Sooo... the current contenders differ in that one of them offers Scarlet Monastery + Posture, another Light*2, and yet another Light + Shadow.

[x] Plan - Good Impressions and Education

I'll go with the last one. I have an interest in Shadow Magic. Although wouldn't it be spreading us too thin?
Eh, I suppose if we don't take the action we won't have the in-character opportunity to find out whether dabbling in it would be worth it.

...this doesn't solve the tie though, merely makes it a 3-way.

Yeah which is why I'm ok choosing them all in one turn for a basic knowledge run. The rest depends on what Grok's talent leans to.

So basically the sort of thing we can do literally anytime we have access to a teacher, compared to when we've already invested time into the light actions and have literally the best tutor an orc could hope for on Azeroth.

Yeah, this is very much a situation to me of "yes I can do this, I can do a lot of things, but there are much better things to be doing."

If it makes you feel better, the vote option with the Scarlet monastery now only has one vote. Of the three original, two are now on the same plan as you. Myself included.

No, it does not solve the central issue at play in the slightest.

Dabbling in shadow magic remains just as worth it as it was before while our time problem (AKA the looming sword of Damocles over Grok's head) remains just as ominous as ever.

We'll have just wasted time doing an action we can do later.

In the end it's only 1 action so I wouldn't really worry about it. It's fine for this to be a wider discussion of how and when to take actions, but I don't really want this specific turn's discussion to occupy the thread's attention so much.

And yes there's the spectre of Jubei'thos, but certain parties have taken action to prevent his return soon. You may discover what action this might be if you take the right choices.#

Also if there's a tie I'll arbitrate something

Eh, if nothing else congratulate yourself that you've made it feel like every action either makes the difference between success or failure, or nothing we do works.

By any chance would it have included payment of a certain potential legion super weapon to a certain bat-winged smug bastard?

Keldran and Tirion have a very interesting debate about the nature of the light and shadow, Grok is also there :p

Just spreading the word that Jubei is causing trouble is enough for the Burning Blade blademasters and their allies to issue a kill on sight for a renegade.
You say that like its a good thing.

He's already killed the best blade master in the world (that isn't him) and proven that he's not going to fight fair.

+ if he's coming for us there's only two blade masters in this part of the world and no allies currently.

They're more prepared now and Akino's other students especially Blackrock members are out for blood.

Come on. Akinos exhausted himself and then had to rescue Grok. It wasn't a fight on even ground.

His other students are all worse than Grok is, as Fractious pointed out to us we managed to beat them all when Grok was significantly less skilled, and unless that black rock member is Broxigor or Varok Saurfang I'm not confident of their chances.

Yes, exhausted himself because of the trap Jub put together, demonstrating that he's not just skilled and strong, but crafty and patient as well. I'd have much more confidence in the success of random blade masters if they could force him into straight fights, but as he's aptly demonstrated he doesn't like those.

They'd have to find him first. I would think the horde would also keep a look out.

And in while they're looking for him, he's coming for us.

Most of the horde neither knows nor cares that Jub exists, they're rather focused on their own affairs or rebuilding Orgrimmar.

[ ] The Bloody Thorns
The Blademasters are gathering for some assault on the Quilboar of the southern Barrens. You'll be far away from most Horde settlements and you want to learn more of their art. Having said that, you also realise this will be a bloody affair and can you accept such a use for your sword after your experiences at Dreadmist?
I imagine Feldad has made a move against him if this action is any indication, but I also imagine it'll be far from that easy and begs the question, what's that payment to Varimathras for.

He hasn't caught up yet. Stop being so pessimistic.
No pessimism would be me going there's no point trying to prepare for him, he's too strong we're all screwed he'll kill us all. And so on.

What I'm arguing for is realism, namely that he is coming for us, he is very skilled, we don't know how much time we have before he catches up and there don't seem to be many people who can take him easily in a straight fight he refuses to give.

These are the facts, but we can work with them.

It's out of your control take the break to go have fun.

o_O

Ok what? Yes I can't control when he arrives, but we sure as hell can influence what happens when he shows up. So no its a very bad time to take a break from getting stronger.
Grok's taking a break already away from horde business.

He's what's that word? Finding himself? That thing some people do when they travel.

Feldad is funding his trip.

And yet horde business is not going to stop itself from coming to him to nobodies surprise.

No Grok's very affirmed of himself and his purpose, what he's doing is working through his depression and putting what he feels his purpose is into action.

Grok unwinding himself in a foreign land isn't taking a break?

@FractiousDay you rated my post funny. Was it being flabbergasted at Doomed Wombat's pessimism or tempting Murphy with Jubei's current location?
