I would definitely prefer if the Training part of the regular turns was simplified somewhat, somehow.

I find it kind of hilarious that the cannibalism question is the one that gets the most people to vote on, lmao.

There's usually a lot of discussion — which is great! — but the voting isn't always as active. It's not something I'm upset by, not at all! I just find it curious. I wonder if it is like this for other similarly-sized quests?

I don't generally vote here because I do not understand how the mechanics work, so I leave the plans to people who do.

I came out to vote because 1) the options were easy, 2) the situation was interesting but ultimately low-stakes, and 3) I get invested whenever there's an opportunity to encourage Halla to be extra bloodthirsty (or generally play into her traits in a suboptimal way).

[X] Use Abjorn's eye (???)

I have the distinct feeling this isn't a permanent thing unless he wants it to be.

[X] Hunt for some forest creature (Wildcraft check, the better the roll the faster you find a suitable creature)
-[X] Use 4 Odr

I guess we should start carrying around eyeballs if we what to use this spell a lot. Or get a different tracking spell.

Yeah, that's the real big issue here. Whether or not Abjorn will regrow his eye is secondary to the cannibalism side.

Well, in the sagas only the Jotnar and trolls and the like consume human flesh. The consensual angle significantly reduces the impact, but it is still probably nid.

However, there are certain instances (which I'm not sold on) so I'm not entirely sure.
And this answers my previous question about eating (/drinking) the heart(blood) of a strong Norseman, be it consensual or not, just like any other strong creature's... Mostly.

Good to have that out of the way in a safe setting and well before the war arc.

If its known that it is Nid then it should be listed out as Nid in the option itself, in addition/instead of it being listed as unknown.

Finally caught up... stayed up half an hour longer than i planned in part to finish said catching up :p I'll have general feedback and thoughts and whatnot tomorrow, but some thoughts that i put in my drafts while catching up:

Do we get Orthstirr from our farm in the new system?

Is there a reason we haven't started building the house/building part of our soulscape? (or is that not part of building out realm 1 anymore? i remember there being some back and forth on what exactly the 4 requirements for)

Have we tried alloying sword and aetgir? or one of those and gust?

Iirc, way back when blackhand first woke up, and we talked about the witch, blackhand said to just go kill her, so why is it now potentially nid or odreng for someone-possibly-halfdan to have done so?

The average human needs about 2–4 liters of water a day to stay hydrated. I won't bill you a reward dice for that little bit of information, but that's all I can say without a substantially greater cost.
Hopefully someone mentions this idea before i catch up but: is the water literal (the 'sparkfugue' as others have proposed, with halla forgetting to drink or eat for Days), or is this saying that there will be an odr "upkeep" for some things? (since it comes from a well, like water?)

"I was hoping to save it for a spar with you," Abjorn admits
This sounds like a hint to spar with him :p (also just in general i think abjorn could use more fighting-screen time...something about one of his recent scenes had me wondering if he had...not nidheart, but whatever the term for a cultivation snarl leading up to a potential heart demon would be called in this system :p

That's the thing, though. I'm not 100% sure how it would be considered historically, in these specific circumstances. Honestly, it's probably not nid as it would be used as part of a ritual to increase the power of the ritual which was sort of okay?

I'm gonna change my mind and say it's not nid, in these specific circumstances

Also, we already know where Shadowbear is going, right? We know where it sleeps.

.......................................

Is the Shadowbear a Norseman, with a Fated Day, and all?

Did Halla detect anything akin to Orthsirr in Shadowbear?

Honestly I'm good with either

Presumably, but it's unclear how much.

We still don't have the Tricks for that completed. We could theoretically rush them, but with an upcoming pregnancy we should have time to do that anyway and it saves some training dice to complete them the 'slow and steady' way

Have we tried alloying sword and aetgir? or one of those and gust?

We have not. Not yet anyway.

Iirc, way back when blackhand first woke up, and we talked about the witch, blackhand said to just go kill her, so why is it now potentially nid or odreng for someone-possibly-halfdan to have done so?

Blackhand recommending something is not always an endorsement of that thing.

I think it's the former but the latter is not impossible and has been mentioned.

We owe Gabriel a spar next turn, but sparring with Abjorn is probably on the agenda the turn after.

Presumably, but it's unclear how much.
Quality of everything either added together or averaged, I'm undecided

Not necessarily upcoming. I've decided to let you folks decide, whenever the seasons change, if you'd like to 'try for baby' over the course of that season. This is to give you a measure of agency in pregnancy.

Well, our last farm was 7 Orthstirr per year, and I think this one is better than that one even taking different systems into account (mostly in terms of building quality), so probably not just the three averaged. If all three added together is too hight maybe (Building Quality + Resources Quality)/2 + Livestock Quality? Livestock seem like the high prestige part of a farm to me and this'd get us 11 Orthstirr per year which sounds right-ish, maybe?

Yeah, I figured, but I think we still want to try in the coming year for a variety of reasons. I probably should've made that clearer.

Hmm..

It's harder to get higher ratings in any given stat, by design, so higher stats should be more impactful.

Better question: How much Orthsirr should a regular Norse Farm have? We can extrapolate from there.

Hey Halla,

Did you detect anything analogous to Orthsirr in the Shadowbear, Dwarves, or Svartalfar?

Would fine smithcraft/silversmithing be a source of Orthstirr if we started selling it? Assuming it's good enough quality that people start recognising our work on the people out and about with it.
