Threadmarked the NQ2 Benchmarks thing, and added some Prowess Benchmarks I discussed with IF. Halla is about average-ish for someone with her combat skills in her current level of Prowess (well, before all the ways she cheats, anyway).

Dice gods like us making this a Fair Fight I guess.

Apparently so. Damn that was a good roll.

What do people think in terms of plans? I'm thinking we use Extinguish for this fight, and we need to consider the Sagaplate. Beyond that...I' have a few ideas but nothing outside the box.

Extinguish would be good since that shuts down its more heavy ordinance, and we need to keep close so it doesn't target the support unit.

Edit: Also its skin may be hard to cut through, but we've got a Sagaseeker, not even Jotun-flesh can hide indefinitely.

As its not like we're here to earn orth, just to kill it for it's blood, I'd vote we use our Odinplate at maybe 50%? to get an understanding of the buffs it gives and I don't think any of the guys we brought with us are pyromaniacs like us so Extinguish seems like a good idea.

Okay, tentative combat plan. I hope I'm doing this right. Any suggestions are welcome.

[X] Plan Draw Attention, Disable Limbs
-[X] Pre-Combat: Use empty Alloy Slot for Extinguish, put on Emberguard
-[X] Goal: The basic idea here is to engage the owlbear in melee combat to keep it off Alvis, hopefully doing solid damage with Threadcutter (and the follow-up Stoking Strike), trapping it with Inertia-Arresting Throw, or disabling limbs with Shatter-Wrist and Tendon Cut. Using lots of defensive Tricks to help with that, plus shields as necessary.
-[X] Shapeshifts: Dense Muscles x8, Supported Grip x1,
-[X] Utility Tricks: Slipstream,
-[X] Defensive Tricks: Reinforce Shield, Slowing Slog, Stutter-Step, Semi-Halting Vortex (put up to defend against multiple attacks at once), Sword Guard (Same), Time Stands Still (only in an emergency, such as to defend against another Finale, though we would then attack the foe while they are frozen),
-[X] Offensive Tricks: Shatter-Wrist Trick, Tendon-Cut Trick, Inertia-Arresting Throw, Threadcutter, Stoking Strike,
-[X] Orthstirr: 30 Levels
-[X] Stoked Pool: Make sure to keep the total below 63 by using it on Stoker State Tricks as needed.
-[X] Other: Activating Sharpen, Stoker State Level 4 (-1 Orthstirr), Lightning-Charged on Sagaseeker (-1 Orthstirr), and Puncture on Tricks (-1 Orthstirr), and use quick-drawn Shields as needed for defense (used preferentially over Stutter Step). Spend 2 Odr on IAT if needed and up to 10 Odr on the Stoking Strike at the end of Threadcutter if it seems like previous attacks have not harmed it.

Okay, so, there's a basic plan in the new format (or close...I split Tricks by category). The basic idea is explained in the plan. I'm ambivalent on whether we use our normal armor, or Sagaplate. That in mind, the following plan is identical, except for using Sagaplate for 1/3 Orthstirr (1/3 seems like a nice Norse number).

[X] Plan Draw Attention, Disable Limbs, Test Sagaplate
-[X] Pre-Combat: Use empty Alloy Slot for Extinguish, put on Sagaplate and offer 1/3 our Orthstirr Gain to Odin
No time like the present to test the fruits of our labor, the fact we get an imbibing out of it is the cherry on top.

And now my anxiety kicks in that a terrible mistake has been made in the planning.

Also, for the record, coming up with a list of Tricks for the turn makes me think we do want a bit more Capacity. I doubt we'd ever need more than 18, and likely not more than 15 most of the time, but 12 is low enough that painful cuts need to be made. So more Odr into Wordplay seems likely and we probably should use the Tafl board on Halla for a bit.

Just to let everyone know, it'll probably take me longer to get combat turns out just because more things tend to happen in them now.

Even with the mechanics change, it seems we can't escape round breaks ;P

I'll need a tactics roll, please. 12 dice
