Or perhaps it's the jawbone of an ass that Cain used to murder Abel.My personal pet theory is the Weapon is just rhe first rock someone beat something over the head with, thus making it the metaphysical first weapon and giving it all kinds of weight and magic.

I actually was already aware that in the original biblical text the murder weapon is unspecified. However, folk tradition dating back to at least the seventh century A.D. indicates that the weapon was a jawbone of an ass. Since then, said traditional depiction has been used by everyone from Shakespeare to Supernatural.Cain's murder weapon is unspecified (but probably either a rock or some sort of farm implement). The 'jawbone of an ass' thing if from the story of Samson.

Given the legend's pedigree, I figured that there was a decent chance that the tale was valid for this quest. Doesn't hurt that the "jawbone of an ass" theory isn't exactly mutually exclusive with the "agricultural implement" theory. The tale of Cain and Abel is set well before the discovery of metallurgy by humanity. As such a scythe or sickle would be made from bone, perhaps even a jawbone of an ass. In fact, such farm implements have been discovered during excavations of Near Eastern Stone Age settlements. Unless I'm misreading the University of Notre Dame Medieval Institute blog post I'm getting almost all of this from, ancients did replace the donkey teeth with flint blades though.
Deadman, how soon can we go kill this with our current turn plan?A trail of scorched grass draws your gaze as a curious creature trundles across the hillside. With a head like an owl, a feathered body in the shape of a bear, and an aura of eager flames, the monster roams across the landscape without a care in the world.
...You'll have to take care of this eventually, or else it'll happen upon your sheep grazing in the hills.
But hey, it appears to be a good target for imbibing!
