Annnnyway moving along from that particular Dark Side Force Nexus. I'll be here when whatever comes, arrives.
A Sword Without A Hilt usually gets about 30 pages a day, and it's great! Except when everyone goes to live in the Salt Caves again...

The real secret is to regularly turn out 3-5k words a day, of sufficient quality, without fail.

I think what Dr. Snark is doing is more than just 'sufficient quality'. I mean, JUST LOOK AT THE MADNESS! Okay, sure. It has turned into a hilarious trip of constantly breaking the setting AT LEAST twice or thrice per turn, but my goodness... what a hilarious trip it is!

Before someone asks:
*In the voice of the Soldier* I have done nothing but binge this quest for three days! AGAIN!

For real though, while salt is the quickest way to generate several pages, the best way is to have have a quest with high engagement and/or lots of players.

...or have several effortposters playing off each other, but that usually comes along if you have one of the former.

I wish my quests broke that many pages a day all of the time...

What is the secret?

[X] Potential Commerce Guild follow up (Priam and the Abyss Watcher bureaucracy should be able to handle this behind the scenes)
[X] Potential Hononghr follow up (Got the impression that our part 2 actions took care of this, but just in case)
[X] Treasury Auditing: While the actual backdoor to the Republic Treasury remains out of your reach (damn you Skirata), he is willing to let you (or more accurately the Muun bankers you have on staff) look over some past records to see if they can find anything to investigate further...or maybe some dirt. Odds are there's something there knowing Palpatine. Chance of Success: 40% Reward: Locate potential dirt on Palpatine or find leads on other projects
[X] The Return of Galactic Sushi: Chance of success 60% Reward: Agricultural output increase in CNS space
[X] Free action(?) reserved for future developments/considerations/worst nightmare comes true and both actions are occupied

[X] Legacy Of Damask: Chance of Success: 95% Reward: Hego Damask holdings investigated/looted
[X] Last minute. Only really put it into full gear when the time is right to bring down Palpatine.
[X] COMPOR: A pro-Palpatine, pro-human, anti-pretty much everything else organization headed by Palpatine's most fanatically loyal followers. Not only would dealing with them be a significant blow to Palpatine's ability to rally people, but given that you're 75% non-human (ish) there's definitely some poetic justice to be meted out here. (40%, 150 cost)
[X] Voss Mystics: These Force users have extremely powerful foresight to the point that their visions are regarded as fact.
[X] The Secrets of the Corellian Jedi: Chance of Success: 30% Reward: Corellian Jedi records investigated
[X] Free archeological action on Ossus with a +10 bonus
[X] Tython Jedi Order: The quickly-growing offshoot of the Courscant Order that is on the verge of a complete schism from them, given Riphath's work with them they might be more willing to speak with you by comparison.

[X] Jedi, Leader, General, Spy: Skirata has pointed out an incredibly valuable target for potential subversion: Jedi General Arligan Zey, the de facto head of the Republic's commando teams who has a position that is semi-independent from the rest of the Republic military. He's been known to conflict with the mainline Order especially after the Temple Massacre so he's an incredibly valuable target for subversion with minimal risk. Chance of Success: 70% Reward: Arligan Zey subverted

[X] Annoy Padme (Free Action, no bonuses): It's tradition. Chance of Success: Yes. Reward: Entertainment
-[X] Senex-Juvex Slavers: Would you look at that, this slave group in Republic space is also home to a number of pro-Palpatine nobles! Launching a raid on them and exposing them to the galaxy would be quite the scandal... (70%)
-[X] The Brothers X: Chance of Success: 40% Reward: X1/X2 subverted and/or terminated
[X] Shatterpoint (Organic): Unquestionably the most difficult thing you could attempt to train on right now; you're still trying to figure out why you can't see shatterpoints on living beings. Your breakthroughs in the Matukai techniques have finally given you some insight on the matter, if you have weak and strong points then so would others by logical extension... Chance of Success: 50% Reward: ???

*Immideately remembers Dr. Snark whining about 'Game balance, what is that? It sounds so nice, but I have no idea what that is.' way back when people first started breaking everything with omakes*
At least be put a cap on omake bonuses per action, i have seen some that are uncapped, and well when omake bombs happen things got a little crazy in those.

Okay okay, I'm alive. Standing by. Whatever. (That crawl was great and it deserves all the likes.)

Life's kinda been knocking me around for the better part of March - not in a "oh god I'm gonna die" kinda way but more in a "okay, I really can't get any good writing while I'm dealing with all of this kind of way."

But yes, I'm still here, I'm still planning on finishing this thing if it kills me. Or kills SV. The latter is probably more likely :V Seriously though, I really appreciate you guys' loyalty and I'm honestly sorry for worrying you all. Hopefully I'll have something either before April or as it starts.

Carry on standing by...standing down...whatever you guys want I guess. Or you could push this thread to 1000 pages (don't do that yet, I need time to brace myself and think of a proper way to celebrate)
A long time ago on an Internet Forum far, far away....

Star Wars CK2-Style Quest

Thread III

The Abyss Gazes Back

@Dr. Snark has vanished.
In his absence, the sinister
[Insert New QM Here] has risen
from the ashes of the Quest
and will not rest until Dr. Snark,
the last QM, has been banned.

With the support of the Questers,
@Teron leads a brave RESISTANCE.
He is determined to find his friend

Dr. Snark and gain his help in
restoring updates and insane
dice rolls to the Forum.

Teron has sent his most daring Beta
on a secret mission to Spacebattles,
where an old Mod has discovered a
clue to Dr. Snark's whereabouts....

...A little gift...

Sometimes I'm just sitting here and wondering how and why everything is so insane here. Then remember that in the end its all my fault because I started the whole quest in the first place. Then I binge the whole thing. So... rougly once per month.

I actually read the ENTIRE thing, not just story/omakes, but all the posts, from yours through Dr Snarks, up to about page 600/650 (ish) before I gave up and just went through the threadmarks. It was fun, but took a LOOOONG time. I think I've been reading this in spare time at work now for over two months. By that time I was just... Gaaah! Don't wanna wait for next update... even though it's an old update... oh you know what I mean!

Now I'm stuck with everyone else with the interminable waiting.... The dark ominous dread of posts to come, and what may be, and what disasterous choices we may make in future. HEY STAY AWAY FROM THE RED BUTTON!

Seriously, since I did give up and skip the last 300 ish pages and just read threadmarked ones, are there any recent (and probably not yet cannon) omakes that I should go back and hunt for? Some of the non-cannon ones earlier in the thread were awesome :)

That is awesome.

I did find two issues: first, the spacing between lines is a bit funky -- it works best if you type in each paragraph as a whole, rather than manually break it into lines beforehand.

Second, the "Insert New QM Here" placeholder. If (heaven forbid) Dr. Snark were forced to abandon the quest, I expect I'd probably be climbing the walls before too long. As much as I enjoy being a player, the frustration at leaving this quest unfinished would probably compel me to volunteer as the next QM. I'm not sure who else would consider volunteering, but you can use me instead of the placeholder. (Also, until now I never realized how much I wanted to be described as "the sinister PUBLICOLA").

I used this site to make my own Star Wars crawl, but (being rather poor) I didn't donate to speed things up. It'll probably be a few days till I get the download link, but once I have it I'll upload it and link the video here.

If I was still programming I'd offer to make a crawl system up from scratch... but it's been a long time since I did stuff like that. Pretty sure no-one hand crafts 3D software any more :) Nowadays I mostly do G&M code for CNC machines, which tends towards early 80's level of programming.... simplified.

As to 'The Sinister Publicola,' I really think you need to think of a better Darth name than that. And Mr Sinister is already taken. (though he'd be a pretty poor Sith)

But what about Gray Paladin!? We're still waiting on that interlude for Headmaster Whatsit's visit! :V
