[X] Plan: This is what Ciaran would do.
-[X] Use public outrage to bring down Armand and cripple Republic Intelligence by embroiling them in controversies that will disrupt their ability to function.
--[X] Fake a CI assassination of deserters going horribly wrong and use various news outlets to stir up a controversy.
-[X] Then kill Armand, taking advantage of the heightened public scrutiny to ensure his downfall is noticed by everyone with a holonet connection.
--[X] Have the assassin wear the stolen CI armor and be "discovered," creating the illusion of a traitor within the ranks of Republic Intelligence.
-[X] After Armand's death, have someone act as a Cryptanalysis Department whistleblower and break the news about the actions of the Covert Ops troopers, making sure to implicate as much of the command structure as possible so that Armand cannot be used as a convenient scapegoat.

How does this look as an actual plan instead of a "just do everything all at once"? I considered including the vote to install moles, but with a plan as tricky as this one probably will be, it seemed better to not add yet another risk.

Whatever you guys want to do, I have but one thing to say:

Do not try to combine creating the illusion of a traitor and using moles. It will blow completely in our faces.

If people start looking for infiltrators, we'd be putting our moles in an even greater risk than they'd already been in. I know we have some very capable members, but we'd be trying to do two options that have worse chances to succeed if we combine them.

I'd rather have them search for traitors over inserting our own moles. If we can blind RI our operatives can act with much more freedom, such as running our anti-Palpatine news network.

Switching vote to
[X] Plan: This is what Ciaran would do.

It's the the same in intent as as []Plan: What would Ciaran do , just better worded and a timeline included. Highly suggest everyone voting for the first to switch to this one.

I leave for the better part of the day and I come back to see that instead of choosing one option, you lot are leaning towards choosing almost all of them.

*sniff* I'm so proud of you all. You're truly becoming conniving bastards of your own. Live that dream~

A note to everybody who voted for WWCD, the author of that plan has endorsed "Plan: This is what Ciaran would do", so you may wish to consider editing your votes.

[X] Plan: This is what Ciaran would do.

I think inserting moles would only work if Ciaran already controlled the investigators.

Although, Ciaran still basically owns the Courts on Coruscant right? She might have her chance if she can get an investigation over to the justice system.

We should add another layer - plant evidence for Palpatine to find that implies that one of his other close associates pulled off the assassination for personal/political gain. If we can add some infighting to the opposition, it's yet another win.

Well, we now have a new term for this Quest and any future Quests.

WWCD = What would Ciaran do?

So... yeah. Madness.

I imagine she has lots of influence in the lower and mid level courts, but Palps should, if not outright own the high courts, certainly be able to out muscle her there and that's where any investigations would inevitably end up.

Well that's the thing, from what I remember of the early Quest she was contracted to foul up the investigation into Nute Gunray and his actions and I'm pretty sure that in the process developed a pretty thorough stranglehold on the system involved.
I imagine that was some pretty high level stuff and Ciaran certainly went out of her way to put in her own people and corrupt the hell out of the Justice system on Coruscant.

Perhaps the reforms throughout the Clone Wars have changed how things worked but I was under the impression she got the job precisely because she could control a high profile case.

[X] Plan: This is what Ciaran would do.

I like this plan. It implies that the only reason CI did not implode into a clusterfuck before is because of its own momentum. aka a lot was going wrong before its just that only now everything is coming out into the open.

We didn't do much with the actual courts. We fouled up the investigation itself.

As far as I'm aware, we don't have much in Republic Intelligence and they'd be the ones doing the actual investigation. The reason I say Palps could muscle us out in the court itself is basically just because he's the Supreme Chancellor, he would naturally be briefed on this and be in on the investigation as well as who would be working it in the court itself. That's not even getting into his own contacts and whatever corruption he's introduced into the system for his own benefit.

Basically, IMO, challenging him in the upper echelons of the republic hierarchy is challenging him on his own turf.

I can see where you're coming from there, it's a reasonable perspective and lord knows Palpatine has the influence to at the very least lock down the the top end of things for just in case scenarios.

Hm, not sure if that's an angle worth attack him on honestly given how dire the situation seems to be on the Republic's survival in light of the Jedi Order's now near inevitable corruption into Dark Side madness.
