Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

YAD was a joke, "Your" Assured Destruction rather than Mutual. Basically the possibility of an ultimatum "No open warfare on the streets, or I'll show you warfare" (potentially a horrible idea, but why wear a cape if you can't go full ham occasionally? )

Good to know on the prosthetics, mobility being "more than natural" rather than just "improve a clunky pegleg to full mobility". Predictable answer but important to check. Same with asking Vista really, its polite to not assume even if its a safe assumption.

In that case, I'd definitely support one of Tim's build projects being a prosthetic for Vista, possibly even the priority (as in spending more than one to get a basic instead of prototype, no idea if we have anyone around needing one for a test.) He's already working on the basics for an extended chat with the Aliens, and other than a non-prototype the really nice stuff is still locked behind skills he needs. So the best prosthetic we can do for Vista, and whatever's leftover being power armor for Danny (the Privateers are screwed if he even gets knocked out or disrupted, plus Endbringer and the risk of base getting attacked like it was by Lung in the breakout).

Edit: Seeing SW's comment actually gave me a thought. I'd like the priority to be a fleshy one, to give her the most normality/what-she-had-before, to be the priority... but with all the scary events offering a second one she can slot in for patrols and such is an idea? Thats a lot more transhuman/Body-modder than just getting a prosthesis though, even for a cape, and I'm still unsure what she'd really do with a single superarm just yet. Maybe save it for another week after giving the fleshy-one and mentioning the option for a combat model, and by then we might have more gadgets to stuff into it anyways.

As to skills, I'm inclined to say dump the three points in Advanced Devices as the most obvious power-multiplier , but he is as much or more Privateer as our personal Q. The same arguments that better power armor and Mass Weapons boost the Privateers , however, can be used to say that it would be very concerning if it looked like this pseudo-gang was suddenly getting supplied with bulk TinkerTech weapons right as Taylor's contacting a merc group and the PRC is worried about gang warfare.

Off Site Power needs a looot of points, and we don't have a lot of tech yet to actually use all that power. So I'm inclined to sit on it and hopefully others will whittle down the cost some by the next time we have Tech points to spend.

we might be able to purchase Off-Site Power this voting session.
May I ask why you want Off-Site Power so soon?
If I understand correctly, all it can give us is ability to create template-device without serving as a battery for PS.
But we have a month before we can actually do it.
So why rush?

I think Tim needs Mobility, Carbon Fiber Plating and Mass Weapons ASAP for better power armor and maybe Vista's prosthetic (just imagine Vista with laser cannon in her arm shooting villains across city blocks).
Privateers already have two powerful teammates who don't do anything for the team. I don't want Tim become the third by concentrating at magic side of his skilltree, not at power armor side.

About Calamity's new spell:
I suggest to choose Cartridges.
Next week we can choose Hang Out with Vista to clear the air and discuss her prosthetic. It will be pretty safe situation, so we can also use this time-slot for charging first batch of Cartridges.

Also, as I understand, Divide Energy will let us share our mana with other mages. I expext that behind it there is other spell, that let us steal other mages' mana or maybe even normal people's life-power to convert it into mana, and that spell'll help us with Ragnarok. As QM said:
There is a way to use it multiple times, but it's… not very nice to bystanders.

Wouldn't Frost Beam be better for the skill purchase? We know that there is a spell after it but not for telekinesis.
There pretty much has to be at least one spell behind Telekinesis. Every unlocked primary spell has at least one secondary spells under it. What's more we know the Calamity Witch template comes with 28 spells spread across 3 branches:
In other news, I've updated the character sheet with a quick blurb about the Calamity Witch template, and I finally finished fleshing out your skill trees. 3 trees, 28 abilities, and a total of 58 levels of training to completely master all of them. Training isn't required, but there are definite benefits to doing so. Learning and training skills I will explain more fully when it becomes relevant.
Currently our spread is:
Flare Skill Tree:
3 Primary Spells
3||1 Secondary Spells
Void Skill Tree:
3 Primary Spells
6 Secondary Spells
Entropy Skill Tree:
3 Primary Spells
2||4 Secondary Spells
which sums to 20 Spells, 22 if we count the duplicate Homing Bullet and Burst spells. If we ignore duplicate skills then a pretty obvious pattern appears:
Flare Skill Tree:
3 Primary Spells
6 Secondary Spells
Void Skill Tree:
3 Primary Spells
6 Secondary Spells
Entropy Skill Tree:
3 Primary Spells
6 Secondary Spells
Which comes to a total of 27 spells with one extra spell floating around. I suspect that extra spell is actually Flare Bullet or Rust Bullet since due to their shared secondary spells either the Flare or Entropy tree, depends upon which pair is counted, need two additional secondary spells. This is important because the pattern of 1 Primary + 2 Secondaries keeps popping up. So it makes sense for those two secondaries to come with an additional primary which effectively makes Flare Bullet or Rust Bullet the odd duck out since you can basically treat the one whose secondaries aren't counted as having no secondaries at all.

For Taylor's spell to learn, I'd say either Burst or Shell Barrier.

For Tim's projects, I'm gonna say both a realistic AND 'battle' oriented prosthesis for Vista. But make sure the battle one can be upgraded after we unlock things like carbon fiber plating and mass weapons (I'd assume upgrading would cost less than building a new one later).

For his last project... a 2nd 3D Printer? Why is no one coming up with any ideas of cool stuff Tim can build?

I say 2 sets of arms for Vista because this way... She has a civilian identity again. She wears the realistic one as Missy, and the battle one as Vista.

@Silently Watches Vista herself can't use magic (I assume, until/unless a scan proves otherwise)... but can her prosthesis make use of it's internal reactor to cast Strong Shield, or would that have to wait for Tim to be able to build hard-light constructs?

You don't know if Vista can or can't use magic yet. That said, no, just giving her the arm would not allow her to cast Strong Shield as that is a spell, not a gadget. You need a hard-light projector.

I really, really want to lobby for buying Ice Beam, simply because I think that we have enough firepower for our day to day lives. Ice Beam would provide us with added utility since it would allow us to alter the battlefield in our favor.

But.

Endbringer battle next Arc. If we want to attack the Bastards and actually make an impact then we need to start stockpiling Cartridges. So I think we should buy Charge Cartridge and put off Ice Beam for now.

As to Shipwright, I think he should purchase Guardian Beast. It doesn't even really matter what kind of Guardian Beast he gets, every one of the templates would provide him and the Privateers with something valuable.

The two remaining Tech Point should go into Mobility.

As to builds: I propose a Power Armour, an organic looking prosthesis for Vista and a Internal Mana Reactor.

My thinking is thus: The Privateers are usually doing their thing without our help, which means that they are vulnerable to flying and/or fast opponents. Providing one of them with a flying Power Armour would be a good counter for that worst case sceneraio. Additionally having one would make evacuating wounded members easier.

Vista's arm shoud be organic looking, so that she can A) keep her civilian identity and B) because an obviously battle-oriented arm is almost guaranteed to be vetoed by either the PRT tinker tech certification or by the Youth Guard.

The Internal Mana Reactor would be either to power the Power Armor or to make sure that Vista doesn't have to visit the Privateers every to in order to recharge her prosthesis. Good relationship or not, making a Ward dependent on us just to live her life properly would probably raise some eyebrows and/or suspicions.

@Silently Watches How do our magitek prostheses(prosthesises? Damn plural) get powered? Do they have an internal Mana Collector or do they need a Mana Reactor?

Prostheses can have either a battery or a mana reactor built in. Now that you have the Internal Reactor skill, I will assume that's what you'd use if you don't mention a specific power source.

Due to the sheer size of a set of power armor as opposed to a prosthetic, it will take two time slots for Tim to build a suit of armor.

Vote 6.9

So, time once again to put Tim to work. And, you know, increase your armory.

Format for this vote is:

[ ] Spell you want Taylor to learn

[ ] Plan name
-[ ] Tim's irst project
-[ ] Tim's second project
-[ ] Tim's third project (if neither of the others take extra time)
-[ ] BUY a skill
-[ ] BUY a second skill if you have the points
-[ ] BUY a third skill if you have the points

And remember, you don't have to buy any skills. Tech points don't expire.

New arm or something to regrow an arm for Vista, and a spell made to be able to fuck up the Cartel asshole as much as possible without killing him. After hearing about Vista losing her arm there is no way that Taylor wouldn't hunt his ass down and take him out as a sniper from above.

Also why don't we do a Wide Area Search of the storm drains find our cape target and then hit that target through the storm drains from the air so he or she can't counter?

[X] LEARN Blitz Action

[X] Plan: Quality of Life
-[X] BUILD Power Armor (light, flying, mobility focused)
-[X] BUILD Prosthesis for Vista (natural look)
-[X] BUY Guardian Beast
-[X] BUY Mobility

I've changed my mind on the spell. I doubt that we will even be able to hit either Leviathan or Behemoth, never mind significantly damage them. Being able to get the hell out of the way of attacks is therefore a better idea.

I'm leaning towards saving that third tech point for now.

Always useful to have a RUN AWAY option.

Will buying mobility allow for a flight system to be included in the Power Armor Tim is building this week?

Also I think we should start saving up some points for Advance Device. It would be nice to have another option for providing Devices other then having Perfect Storm salvage parts.

Love this name. Just thought you should know. :)

It could, but I'd really like some details about what you want in the power armor. Not so important now, but when you have Mass Weapons and Energy Weapons and Mobility and Carbon Fiber Plating and what have you to choose from, just saying "power armor" doesn't tell me much, you know?

I assume that Power Armour is just really basic? Because we can always build more than one type. Heavy combat for dealing with Brutes, mobility for fast reaction etc.

Mobility doesn't seem quite as interesting to me as it doesn't help to fly (if you have armor) if you can't do anything from the air. Mass Weapons gives us something to build for the random privateers, or to include for Vista as a self defense option for people getting close, or as another toy on the power armor.

Carbon Fiber we can use to upgrade the armor and maybe prosthesis (if its under the skin-analogue, it should be thinner than steel anyway) without needing a separate build though. So its more pressing to get immediately (as in this vote) and save the fancy toy for a combat-limb or upgrades to the suit if we have time before attack. But since the suit is meant for Danny, may as well make it as defensive as possible since thats what its there for?

I'm pretty ambivalent on Ted's skill though, as theres a lot of good choices, so I may switch if theres too much of a bandwagon and I need to go tactical.

If all I see is "power armor", I'm going to assume the most basic kind, yes. I asked because Jetsmillion was talking about buying the Mobility skill, but there was no mention of making the armor able to fly. Not a mind reader, folks; you gotta tell me what you want.

ok, here's what I'm thinking.
