Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

[X] weapon-enhancing spell
[X] Blitz Action
[X] Aerial Combat
[X] switch Barrier Jacket to and from haste mode (+2 XP)

It occurs to me that assuming they are alive we really should scan Kaleigh and Laura's mothers and any siblings. Linker cores are genetic, so we should be allowed to skip the first roll :p

And the family of anyone else we find with a linker core, for that matter.

"Have you considered going out of state for your college? We have a number of scholarship offerings at academically competitive universities on Midchilda with a variety of course offerings."
Not gonna lie, I snorted at this.
That was literally the ENTIRE POINT of reworking the Device system. I spent more than an hour typing up an Information threadmark about how they work and grow.
Heyyy, some of us read Informationals. I do it obsessively!

...in fact as a rule if nothing prohibits it we should abuse those genetic links for any mages we find as hard as we can, since the initial dice roll despises us.

This vote is surpisingly, and pleasantly, clean cut!
Yeah, not what I expected out of this.
For those who can't be bothered to look for themselves, those winning are:
Aerial Combat (30), Swarm Summon (28), switch Barrier Jacket to and from haste mode (25), Blitz Action (23)
And in fifth: Champion Summon (7)

So yeah, very clear cut. Which is weird.

[X] Blitz Action
[X] Aerial Combat
[X] swarm summon
[X] switch Barrier Jacket to and from haste mode (+2 XP)

Flight's got a one-time discount and the Barrier Jacket switching is a one-time offer, so I'm definitely in favor of those. Blitz Action takes advantage of Missy's ability to GO FASTER, and Swarm Summon unlocks the Champion Summon spell once Missy gets the XP needed.

[x] Plan: Imma Ninja
-[x] Aerial Combat
--[x] Spatial Translocation (-2 XP)
-[x] swarm summon
-[x] invisibility

Missy already has good offensive options with her cybernetic and device-based weapons, so what we want in initial spells at least is utility. Invisibility is too good a trump card to pass up, especially when her defences aren't as good as ours. Aerial Combat and spatial translocation give her a maneuverability advantage, and while swarm summon has little direct fighting utility, it can still be used for scouting and shenanigans, we can get Champion summon later on.

Laura SHOULD be easier. Unlike Summoning, an MCA just gives an element to attacks and an invulnerability to Barrier Jackets.
I'm looking forward to how Laura turns out. Invulnerability? Sounds perfect for triggering just as she shoots off a Breaker attack at point blank. Since a Breaker tier attack stuns a Endbringer Laura is the perfect opening act to killing either Behemoth or Leviathan.

Though it'll take a long time to build up her spell repertoire to pull off such a maneuver.

With the Barrier Jacket switch, we'd only need another 2 exp for Missy to learn invisibility.:)

Even if some of my options lost i do like the way these votes played out. Took abit longer but the results were *alot* more cohesive and sane.

Laura will be invulnerable to Ice (Cold) the same way Taylor is invulnerable to Flare (Heat, Radiation). Laura will be able to stand around in Antarctica and not feel chilly, just like Taylor can stand in nuclear fire and shrug it off.

There's probably something like momentary invulnerability around, but it's not from her Rare Skill.

Laura's and Kayleigh's family are Winter Hill, and unlike Laura, are so voluntarily. Jotunn is Laura's father, and Kayleigh is the bookkeeper for the gang, so recruiting from either family is a rather risky move. On the other hand, if they have relatives who want a way out, too, they might be worth consideration.

I read them, discuss them extensively, and then forget it all. Having the same conversation multiple times gets very frustrating, for me, and I know I'm only remembering some of those times, so it's gotta be worse for those around me.

Just watch out for those ancillary hazards. When we captured the Dragonslayers, we had to sacrifice much of our Barrier Jacket's defense rating to provide clean air to breathe. It would take a much more intense form of cold to wring the oxygen out of the air, so I don't know how much that issue applies to her, or where that issue would show up, but it needs to be considered.

Would Sekhmet be a good name for Missy's new magical girl cape career?
What with the Calico Laughing, khopesh, and possibly feline based summons....🤔

We could call Laura Ice Queen, and her device Frozen Skies!:) Give her a big glaive or really long sword/lightsabre and WTF telekinesis.

There will be a Laura interlude, so you get to see at least her mother.

MCA Barrier Jackets provide elemental immunity no matter how much protection they provide. It could be the barest level of protection, not even enough to withstand a baseline human's punch, and Laura would still be able to walk around in the tundra without a care.

The khopesh is not inherently feline.
or really long sword/lightsabre
You can't give someone a lightsaber Device. A spell to create a mana blade or to create a longer reach from a physical blade, sure, but it won't be a lightsaber all the time.
