Also REALLY want Addie to mention to Vista the idea of calling down a bolt of lightning by linking the ground to the Ionosphere like the other fic did... giant bolt from god!.

Adeline's power:
Adeline has the Tinker of Fiction package, which is basically pick a fictional universe and that's basically your temporary tinker specialty. She can swap to a different specialty (eg, pick a new fictional universe) if she wants, but must hold each specialty for at least a week before being able to change it. It has a cap of three weeks before it it'll automatically be swapped out for something new. Furthermore she can regain a previous specialty but needs to have swaps specs 3 times before she can grab one again.

If the universe she's drawing from has magic her power will instead replicate it with technology instead (Clarktech ftw!)
When she changes her specialisation is picked in two ways:
Method A:
Addy has a goal in mind and wants to swap (Eg. Addy wants to make giant robots)
I check the list below and pick all the ones that have options for giant robots.
I roll randomly to choose one spec from that smaller list.
Method B:
Addy has no real goal in mind when her spec changes (Eg. She's asleep and her spec is scheduled to change)
I roll randomly and pick whatever it was from the list below.

Exceptions do exist. If I roll a spec she's had before and the cooldown hasn't finished I reroll till I get something allowed.
The list (not finalized and more fictional universes can be added):
  1. War for the Overworld
  2. Marvel
  3. Starcraft
  4. Overwatch
  5. Subnautica

One limitation on her power is she can't rebuild stuff from a previous specialty unless she's already built it before and has the blueprints to follow.

When tinkering she can't actually modify her tech until after she's actually built it, mostly because every time she's doing the actual building she drops into a tinker fugue. For example if she were building power armour and wanted to incorporate tech from a previous specialty she'd need to build it first and then when she comes out of the fugue she can make the adjustments.

Since I'm kinda forgetful here's the current blueprints she's got that she can actually follow to make stuff with (she does have tons of blueprints for Fallout but didn't get to make most of it so is limited till she gets the specialty back):
Fallout:
- Stealth Boys
- Laser Muskets
- Bottlecap Mines (with options to substitute loose change for bottlecaps)
Sonnie's Edge
- Fancy Supercomputer + OS + Software to genemod the shit out of things
- Her Sequencer/scanner thing to upload DNA to the Fancy Supercomputer
- Life Support Tanks
- Bioware Implants
- Seeder device so she can grow her critters.
- Khanivore's entire genetic sequence
Bioshock
- ADAM producing sea slug genetic sequence
- Dialysis/Refining/Processing Machine so she can refine ADAM into plasmids/vigors/tonics/etc, as long as the chemical makeup of those plasmids/vigors/tonics/etc
Adeline's shard:
Yup she has a shard, as stated in the previous information post. No magic or warp fuckery here. Anyway here's some more info about her shard:
Reality Lens is an Abaddon shard, currently occupying most of the land mass of an alternate earth and connected to Best Host. It has no idea how it got there or how it connected to it's host (blame the R.O.B) but it's liking this new situation.

Reality Lens has an important function. When a Cycle is begun the Entities lock of large sections of the multiverse to do their testing in. Reality Lens monitors universes outside of this test bed to monitor for potential threats to the Cycle. When It found itself with a Host it slapped together a Tinker package using information from these realities.

It's not really meant to have a host and as such is fairly low on restrictions, most of them being the standard 'host isn't supposed to know certain shit' stuff.

The Host-Output-Node (aka Corona Gemma) for Reality Lens' host is 200% larger than than normal (and yes, Panacea noticed it).

Reality Lens loves Host and enjoys feeling the different emotions Host can display. Host is best Host, even if Host sometimes needs a few nudges here and there.
Adeline's shard gives her a sort of anti-thinker effect that causes a slight issue with precognitive Thinker abilities and/or others that rely on simulations. What happens is her shard essentially does a mini-trigger every time it changes specialties, which like normal trigger events messes with precognition. Especially because different potential future Adelines could have totally different mixes of tech.

She can be Pathed. She simply causes the Path to fluctuate a bit as it's forced to adjust each time Addy's spec changes, but due to being inside the Brockton Bay Experiment as well as being more of an irritant than a threat to the Path she's not likely to get Contessa'd for the moment. Trying to spill Cauldron secrets on the other hand would draw in Contessa to do something.

Her power has weird interactions with Coil's power. It mostly just means his timelines collapse the moment she changes specialty. Since she's only changed specialty twice (and there's a minimum cooldown of at least a week) Coil has noticed his timelines randomly dropping twice before but has no clue as to the cause (for now)
Initial Addy starts with Fallout
TImeline A Addy ends up swapping to Yu-Gi-Oh.
Timeline B Addy ends up swapping to Borderlands.
Coil A and B Timeline both immediately collapse because they haven't modeled for this and Coil (from his perspective) is back where he was when he spilt those timelines.
Alternatively:
Initial Addy starts with Fallout
Timeline A Addy ends up swapping to Yu-Gi-Oh.
Timeline B Addy doesn't swap and keeps with Fallout.
Coil A Timeline immediately collapses leaving Coil in Timeline B.
That is actually much more fucked than you realise. For Coil that is.

It means that the longer she holds a tech tree past 1 week the more he is fucked. Because almost anything he does to deviate the timeline could cause her to change tech trees. So basically after 1 week of a new tech tree if the tree is maintained Coil's power becomes unreliable to the extreme. And almost any attacks on Addy would result in changing tech-trees. So that timeline collapses.

Right now he might be a bit safer since reviving tech is too important to wait till the tech-tree is rolled again. But even then there might be some timeline collapse.

Btw you should add a 1 day or 6 hours cool down to Coil's power when ever a tech-tree is changed in the main timeline. Since new parameters need to be set for the simulation.

You can also make it so if a timeline collapses on its own he can't make a new one for an hour. Since most Thinker powers have a restriction on them and have drawbacks when overused, you can make it so if he splits the timeline without waiting for a cool down he will have a thinker headache. And it won't get better while his power is being actively used. So he can withstand the headache and push through. But the more timelines automatically collapse the worst the headache and the longer he has to rest.

Alternatively you can make it so if a timeline automatically collapses he loses all info gained in that timeline. Including what lead to the timeline collapsing.

Some background info I figured people would be vaguely interested in. Mostly stuff that isn't likely to be brought up in-story.

My word of god thing for old-Addy existing is yes she did exist but was supposed to die in the car accident that got her parents. the ROB or whatever then shoved the SI's consciousness inside the now-dead Addy and used ROB magic to fix the whole dead thing.
Does that mean she can revive the old Addy? If so it would make transitioning into a guy help distinguish between them.

What you can do is when Addy puts her data into the machine it would show her 2 options. The MC Addy (the guy who drowned) and old Addy (the little girl).

You can make it so when/if you decide to revive old Addy and her parents or even just old Addy, the MC claims that he gained his old memories back. And that when he triggered Addy was dead and he was dead but his old body was too unsalvageable so he was put into a new body (which messed with his memories). That way you can even have old Addy and her moms go back to their old life while new Addy (or what ever new name you decide to give) stays with Taylor and her family.

up to you though if you want to do this.Or even just part of it.

plus it would align with the type of shard he has, since it can look at other realities outside the cycle.

Interesting fact. The inclusion of the death by drowning thing was set up as a possible way for her to second trigger during the Leviathan fight (eg. She gets trapped underwater and starts drowning and her shard goes 'ooh this'll do') that was part of my initial ideas for the story.
I then thought about it and decided that I had no idea how a second trigger for this power would even work and that overall it probably wouldn't add much to the story later anyway so the drowning thing becomes largely irrelevant.
You can actually still use this if the dice ever make Addy drown. You can expand the power a bit. Allow Addy to maintain knowledge without needing to write blueprints. Or the ability to have more control over her body while building something and over time gain a slight increase in skills each time a new device is made/modified.

So work with enough mechanical projects would Addy to fix or make mundane mechanical things. This would allow for better planning for future projects mana with enough exposure (and I mean years) Addy would have abilities similar to a tinker with a rating of 1 even with the shard power.

Alternatively you can make it so Addy has a number of slots that can store blueprints of tech from a tree before changing it. And would allow for building the device even when the tech tree is not the right one.

Another alternative would be to add a new power related to the shard in question. Like an anti precog power or a Thinker power related to precognition or something.

That's only if you plan to ever pull a second trigger.

After warning them about Dinah Alcott Vista then forwarded a picture she had taken of a notebook Adeline had begun to draw in. Seeing it made the PRT director's blood run cold. It showed multiple of those things and that they could breed. The tree in the background suggested those monsters would be spreading into out into neighbourhoods from wherever they were holed up in the docks.
At first I though Piggot was reaching a bit, but if they believe that Addy draws future events it would probably be justified.

I'm liking this, but everytime a tech tree is confirmed no go I get a little sadder.

I mean, jumping around worlds with Sliders, manipulating souls and functional immortality with Dark Souls, Old God fuckery with Bloodbourne, I mean imagine the synergy with all the blood! Old Blood plus biotinkering would kick ass.

Not to mention so much missed synergy between conceptually similar fandoms.

Totally understandable, it's not like I watch and play everything under the sun and I don't expect Unders to either. But I can dream.

At first I though Piggot was reaching a bit, but if they believe that Addy draws future events it would probably be justified.
Yea but they seem to conveniently forget the '90% chance' that Addy mentioned, meaning the probability isn't set for the Dinah event. Which means the family of cathulu's might become a self-fulfilling prophecy if they go after Splice.

That said, Kahnivore plus Bioshock powers is pure, Grade A bullshit.
I mean if they can use powers from other setting it's already pretty OP.
Imagine them with Pretender shells from Transformers....
....or using apparition from Harry Potter...

Apparition

Apparition was a form of magical transportation, in which the user travelled instantly from one location to another, without traversing the space in-between. This was accomplished by having the user focus on a desired location in their mind and then purposely disappearing from where they were...
....even the DNA patches from Power Rangers.

The synergy options are pretty limitless.

In canon Worm it's hinted that Coil provided one of his pedophile mercenaries with children. It's only hinted though, never clearly stated. Coil is getting the reputation he deserves.

Ah yeah, looking forward to some Dwarven problem solving from Addy. I haven't played Dwarf Fortress in years.
His rep is going to go downhill pretty quickly. Especially because Addy's 'prediction' was totally correct that Dinah is a parahuman.
@Unders
If you combine Peeping Tom with the Invisible Man powers can you not only stay invisible while in motion but see thru walls all the time?
Is the peeping tom thing just walls?
They can't be combined per se, but somebody can have both of them at once. (basically can't merge them into a single plasmid but can run both plasmids without issue). Luckily Khanivore is so big and has plenty space to cram full of plasmids. 3m tall bipedal tentacle-shark-cat-thing that shoots lightning, teleports, can turn invisible at will, sees people through walls, etc is going to be really good for Piggot's blood pressure. Khanivore's size is the main limiter for the heist since it's hard to fit something that big indoors.
Are you going to make a bug critter with peeping Tom for Taylor to scout?
Is the Possession creating a disposable spirit thing every time or is it the same one? Don't know enough about Dark Souls or Bloodborne to know if either of them actually uses souls but could you use Possession to cheat the Soul requirements?
Make Skyrim Soul Gems a breeze.
The Critter 53 that Addy has planned can't be controlled by Taylor because it's missing important pieces of it's brain (which are replaced with bioware processors). Taylor can still get feeback on it's biology and probably it's senses (haven't decided yet), but actual control is impossible unless Addy makes one (or another suitably bug-like critter) without the implants replacing brain matter. The little bugs the Critter 53 is going to be able to spawn (the pepper spray moths) can be controlled by Taylor as they're separate sufficiently bug-like creatures with functioning nervous systems.
Addy is also unlikely to make something for Taylor specifically for scouting since her power is already OP for scouting anyway. Anything she makes for Taylor would be to give her better combat options (like say making a critter stacked full of bioshock's assorted elemental attacks or something)
Possession is a disposable spirit, but only one can be active at a time. I'm undecided at the moment about using it in place of souls and I'll only really decided once she gets a tech tree that uses souls.
The real question about throw away time lines is if Addy will recognize it as such or she'll assume that the reason she wasn't grabbed within a few months of her giving away info on him means she's in the clear and therefore this is the first time and therefore a throwaway.
Or if she'll have the acuity to realize pedosnek has been grabbing her.
At the moment she doesn't know she's on his radar and will assume whenever he's making a move that it's the first time unless she has evidence to the contrary.
I am really looking forward to Taylor's mom being revived. BTW if you don't want him to revive his moms you can just make it so they were cremated. Though I hope to revive Hero. He wasn't part of Cauldron if I am not mistaken, and I doubt he would be since unlike the others he will not be eased into it. He will see all the shit they did from an outside perspective. But regardless of the him joining Cauldron or no, he represents hope for Earth-bet.

You can even have him team up with Addy and Taylor for a while, since he might feel like it's his responsibility to guide a thinker like her. Addy might have an amazing tinker power, but she is very inexperienced as a tinker. So even if Hero teams up with them for only a few weeks or a month, it would legitimise them as heroes. And anyone who says otherwise would be going against Hero who would vouch for them.
Addy would first need to get a DNA sample and I doubt people would let her go and do a bit of grave robbing of a well beloved and respected hero's grave to get it.
Also Addy doesn't actually care enough about hero to revive him. She probably would if somebody she cared about asked, but she wouldn't really rush off and volunteer to do it on her own. She's pretty selfish, only really caring about herself and the people she likes.
Forgot to mention that when the right tech tree pops around, Addy definitely needs an implant that would allow her to store data. That way there is no danger of losing blueprints.

That way Addy can destroy the reviving chamber without having to worry if she needs to.
If it pops up Addy would definitely grab something to make storing her designs safer. At the moment she's got 3 spots she stores the copies which haven't really been show in story yet. The first is in a USB stick under her mattress, the second is a USB stick hidden in the rafters at her workshop (needing Fluffles to put them there), which doesn't get updated as frequently. The third is in a USB stick she buried in a container in the back yard. Once a week she'll take any blueprints she's done in notebooks and update the USB sticks, with the workshop one being a lot more awkward since it's kept so far away.
An implant would be a nice way to improve the whole backup system but her Little Sister regeneration actually gets in the way. Her flesh knits back up ridiculously fast and broken bones literally heal in seconds, so anything that she wants to add in needs to be put in before the ADAM in her body fixes her up.
Ya that will be awesome. Earth-bet has a fear of bio-tinkering. But honestly biomancy/bio-tinkering is awesome.

Once he makes the revive machine (and I really hope he does) it will be impossible to keep Danny out of the loop. So he can have a sex change more easily once he has the right tech tree. Or make it so he can freely change his sex.

Being a guy for at least 20 years and being comfortable as a guy would make it hard to just accept being a girl. Once puberty hits it will be super annoying. It would be one thing if he originally wanted to be a girl, but the start of the story showed otherwise. So at the very least I spect him to have the ability to change gender at will, or just turn into a guy.
Addy is getting used to being female. Still finds some bits awkward but overall is enjoying herself. It'll come up in story if she gets something that'd let her swap genders.
Dunno with the story being Semi-Si chances are 'addy' just got the author memories rather than being the author as for Danny being on the know that's honestly Up to Annette and what she's willing to do to protect Taylor and addy a lot going foward is up to Annette
Danny is going to find out fairly soon, mostly because it's hard to explain why his dead wife is suddenly alive again and cooking breakfast without some form of explanation. He's not that unobservant. I've got some ideas for how Annette is going to fit into things.
Also REALLY want Addie to mention to Vista the idea of calling down a bolt of lightning by linking the ground to the Ionosphere like the other fic did... giant bolt from god!.
Vista is terrifying enough without being able to full Zeus on the place (lightning wise, not sleeping around with anything with a pulse wise). It might be possible Vista figures it out on her own without hints from Addy though.
At this point the PRT knows about Addy, so does Coil. And most bad guys have contracts in the PRT so before long every gang in the city will know. Specially if coil tells people as revenge for painting him as a pedophile.
Yup the gangs will find out eventually. Coil isn't going to be the one to spread it around however as he wants a new precog to replace the one that just got away, however it's pretty safe to assume that all the gangs have some moles in the PRT in some fashion. Most of them are probably reporting to coil too while thinking they're reporting to the gang they support since I can totally picture Coil getting off on grabbing free info as moles reported to the other gangs.
His whole plan hinges on no one knowing he his Thomas Calver... Not that addy will survive she tries tought he know Who she's is already
Yup. Addy hasn't outed him because she knows if does she'll instantly be on his radar and that he's a sore loser who would totally retaliate against her.

Side effects of Coil's power slamming into Addy's anti-thinker thing is mostly just going to be a nasty headache.
Addy doesn't know she has this effect on precogs so is unlikely to change tech trees if she figures out she's in a disposable timeline. The more likely option is she ends up collapsing Coil's safe timeline because in that timeline she wanted to swap specs to do some tinkering (since she's safely at home and not being kidnapped) and therefore dumps him into the disposable timeline. Fortunately for her Coil doesn't know it's her that's having a weird effect on his powers or she'd be getting a bullet in the head asap.
Does that mean she can revive the old Addy? If so it would make transitioning into a guy help distinguish between them.
At the moment there's only one Addy that the chamber could revive, which is the current Addy. Old-Addy is overwritten/merged with the SI memories/soul/whatever to make the current Addy. If she dies the vita chamber's quantum bullshit would connect to current Addy.

You can actually still use this if the dice ever make Addy drown. You can expand the power a bit. Allow Addy to maintain knowledge without needing to write blueprints. That's only if you plan to ever pull a second trigger.
I'm actually thinking that the full Tinker of Fiction powerset is a second trigger power, with the initial trigger probably being just a single fiction. Then again it doesn't really matter since I'm not really going to have her in a situation where the likelihood of experiencing trigger conditions again could happen.
At first I though Piggot was reaching a bit, but if they believe that Addy draws future events it would probably be justified.
Piggot is always suitably paranoid and justified whenever biotinkering is a possibility ;)
I'm liking this, but everytime a tech tree is confirmed no go I get a little sadder.

I'm planning to gradually update the fiction list over time as I either think of cool things to add or get time watch/play things people have suggested.
Yea but they seem to conveniently forget the '90% chance' that Addy mentioned, meaning the probability isn't set for the Dinah event. Which means the family of cathulu's might become a self-fulfilling prophecy if they go after Splice.

I'm using the transformers movie universe rather than cartoons/comics/etc. I'll update the fiction list.
Likewise for the Marvel stuff. Movie-verse not comics-verse.
This fic, a really good 1-shot by @mp3.1415player. It basically changes Vista from Shaker: 9 to Shaker: Yes
Now that they have Dinah Alcott they can ask her what are the chances that they will have a bio tinker bad ending. Then they can same question but if hey attack the bio tinker.
Bear in mind Addy has an anti-thinker effect with regards to long range predictions. After all her next specialisation might not included adorifying biotinkered horrors.

Re: Insect brains via a 10 second, click on the first link google search.
"Understanding Insect Brains: Insects have tiny brains inside their heads. They also have little brains known as "ganglia" spread out across their bodies."
"...An insect's brain is distributed into three pairs of lobes: protocerebrum, deutocerebrum, and tritocerebrum. The lobes are essentially fused ganglia. They are spidersclusters of tiny neurons that insects use to process sensory information."

Thus, insect brains is a bit of an odd thing, as they don't really have them - and yet still kind of technically have an equivalent (even if its not a muscle like ours/mamals,birds,lizards and just about every other dang creaure)

So... Fun fact about the Quicksilver Invisible Man thing; in the show Darrian Fawkes had very fine control over how it would flow while settling into place, to the point that he could temporarily turn objects up to the size of a VW minibus invisible for a few minutes without even needing to remain in contact with them -- and the same applied to people as well.

The discussion of invisibility and all that; I just had the thought of adding that different setting into things and adding a QS gland to the Critter 53; those pepper moths could be invisible (selectively) for their entire 5-ish minute lifespans. Fun times.

His rep is going to go downhill pretty quickly. Especially because Addy's 'prediction' was totally correct that Dinah is a parahuman.
Thomas: Now now we don't know with certainty that he is a pedophile!

I'm gonna laugh if he uses a throwaway timeline to start shooting and screaming about not being a pedophile only for it to conveniently pop in as the main timeline because Addy switched at that moment.

The discussion of invisibility and all that; I just had the thought of adding that different setting into things and adding a QS gland to the Critter 53; those pepper moths could be invisible (selectively) for their entire 5-ish minute lifespans. Fun times.
Heh. Forgot about the van bit. I remembered the scene when you said that. Addy doesn't need to biotinker those glands into people. Just make a critter like a sugar bear. Cute and small enough pet for it to get by but engineered with the gland to produce enough 'quicksilver' to make it's owner invisible.

I have a strange feeling that when Taylor and Khanivore go to clean out Medhall, she will be mistaken as the biotinker. Then it just escalates from there as Addy cannot communicate as Khanivore. It will be glorious.

Addy would first need to get a DNA sample and I doubt people would let her go and do a bit of grave robbing of a well beloved and respected hero's grave to get it.
I am assuming he would have data on his DNA saved in the PRT database. So if Addy gets a tech tree that lets her hack she can probably get Hero's DNA data. But that's only if you want to go that route.

Plus he doesn't have any other powers other than tinkering. So she can wait till she gets a tech tree that lets her enforce a contract like a geas and revive him. Minke a deal, if accepts cool, if he doesn't she can kill him and no one will know. Though it's up to you. I just really want to see what it would be like if Hero was back.

You know if you add Young Justice you could do Martian tech. Sure we haven't seen much but there is the shapeshifting bishop. So flight, shapeshifting, invisibiloty, some telepathy at least. Then the other tech like the elemental manipulating robots and AI. And a that one robot in the beginning that can copy powers.
Shapeshifting flying invisible Cathulus!

@Unders will Addy want a bio ship version of this?

Catbus

The Catbus (ネコバス, Nekobasu) is a transporting animal bus-looking character in My Neighbor Totoro. He is met by Mei, Satsuki and Totoro. (though Totoro could have known him for years since he already knows to take it to get back to his home under the camper tree). The Catbus appears on the road...

@Unders

When you get around to Guyver, I recommend the following order....

Guyver: Out of Control
A one off OAV Movie.
(First made anime, rough but it has ideas that are revisited later in the Manga)

Guyver: Mutronics
Live Action Movie
Mark Hamil is in it
(So bad it is Funny to watch)

The Guyver
Anime
12 episode OAV series
(Awesome English Intro Music, Japanese OST for this one is terribad, best animated violence and Megasmasher effect!)

Biobooster Armour Guyver
Manga
I think it is up to Vol. 34 now?
(Great Story, Beautifully Illustrated and great supplementary Art and Lore in it too)

Guyver: Dark Hero
Live Action Movie
David Hayter as Lead Role
(Also David Hayter is Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid)

Guyver
TV Series, reboot Anime
Over 24 Episodes roughly, I think?
(Most accurate Animation to the Manga Storyline, but violence very toned down sadly)
