You can't capture a monster someone already owns with a pokeball (even masterball), so Addie would have to make Eldion relinquish control first. On the other hand the Capture Stylus the Pokemon Rangers use is explicitly meant to calm down raging monsters, even when they are being controlled by someone else.

This does raise the question of what the Endbringer's guardian signs would be and how the world would react to someone having the ability to call on their power.
 
Good thing X-com only comes out in 2015, otherwise someone would figure she his splyce.

The original XCOM game came out in 1994, although I don't know if she's used anything that showed up in the early games yet. If she did chances are Uber & L33T would be able to recognize it.

Anyway sorry for a late reply of my own. I was taking a short break to catch up on video gaming when I suddenly had to do a whole lot of overtime at work. we had an emergency at work with a couple people coming down with covid. Since I had the previous week off I was one of the few uninfected people available to cover :rolleyes2:
So due to this my writing time was cut down a bit. I'm going to try to have the next chapter out by tomorrow the latest, but if not it'll be pushed back to next week. Unfortunately the next chapter is going to be pretty long since there's a lot to cover (as well as needing to alleviate some of the concerns about the Wards thing :rolleyes2:)

Taylor would've liked to join the Wards eventually, but at the moment she's annoyed at the PRT. That and she knows now how constrained the Wards are with regards to patrols and being allowed to engage criminals and stuff, so staying as an independent would let her fight crime more effectively.

Sadly Addy doesn't have any FEV or know how to make any at the moment. Luckily she can swap back to fallout now if she wants to get some and start making super mutants.

I think most tinkers only need to worry with the occasional once a month sort of thing, with the odd extra bit after particularly intensive use. I figure Armsy, with his delicate components that have very fine tolerances, probably needs to do a lot more than the average tinker. Especially if it lets him eke out 0.0076% increase in efficiency :rolleyes2:

I have a non-canon omake laying about somewhere with her being killed by Armsmaster and then just rezzing and acting as if nothing happened laying about somewhere, if that counts.

Endbringers are supposed to be optional (not that the PRT would try hard to stop them from volunteering of course). The Fallen thing on the other hand has no excuse. The thing with Addy is that with all the powers she has you're only really going to be able to get away with kidnapping her if she lets you.

She has a computer/laptop at the splyce lair with some of the stuff backed up (mostly the stuff for biotinkering and arming minions). She hasn't lost much in the way of blueprints. She still has some of the hard copies of her original fallout stuff so the only stuff she's really lost for now is the vita-chamber to psi-chamber modifications and the codex/GREMLIN coding. The bigger risk is the fact that pc had a copy of the gene editing software and DNA library which could easily point her out as being splice.

I'm still mulling over exactly what I want the console to be / how it'll work. It'll come up eventually, since it's likely to mostly be dealt with in an interlude chapter.

Yes. Addy's X-Com specialty had Long War and Long War 2 for example, since I loved those mods and can't actuall play the base games anymore.

Joining was a consequence of being found out by heroes amongst a whole pile of corpses and then being brought into custody. The background dice rolls wound up with Velocity encountering Addy and then I played things logically from there. Heroes take her into custody. PRT try to strongarm her. She decides to go along with it since it's more convenient than explaining why her eyes are glowing and her skin is looking really unhealthy.

The stripping was more due to the fact all her clothing was generated by her dressphere and when they took away the garment grid her clothes disappeared (so they dressed her in stuff from the gift shop).

Nope, Canary is in the birdcage right now. It's May in story and without the need to transport Lung at the same time she was shipped off soon after trial.

She just needs to last long enough to become completely untouchable, like say playing a major role in killing an Endbringer. Amusingly her next specialty doesn't have anything to kill leviathan with, but it has something that can severely weaken the bullshit he does and let other people kill it.

Addy picks what she wants to make and then fugues to make it. There won't be any accidental tinkering (or more importantly biotinkering) unless she's prevented from tinkering at all for a while, in which case her power will auto-fugue her like at the start of the story.

There may be some mandatory psychiatric care incoming. Of course the PRT will need to actually get the psychiatrists here first...

Injuries don't matter much. She has insane regen, especially with a high ADAM blood content. M/S lockdown will be trickier, and her best defence against that is doing dialysis a lot more regularly so that if she does get stuck in M/S containment she can ride it out without much problem.

Gremlins count as self-replicating (at least when exposed to water) so I don't think that her family would let her make them.
Honestly they don't have any kind of tech tree, barring the magical reproductive and transformative properties of Mogwai themselves.

The genetics lab didn't actually have anything close to what Addy already possesses.
 
Maybe make a small Illithid colony completely loyal to Addy? Also, a Well of Many Worlds and something to determine guilt for easy, moral-quandry-free, source of brains for the Illithids.

True, but consider the following - preteen brain with it's hormonal imbalances + powers from a magic space whale a stable person does not make.
 
Great story, it's really fun reading about a character that actually does stuff with their powers and has fun and doesn't just spend the whole fic being melancholy about being in Worm and over thinking every little decision because "Thinkers". I also love fics where characters play around with multiple identities.

So I only recently discovered/caught up with this fic so I don't know if anyone else has brought this up yet or not, but I wonder if now that Saint is dead if Teacher will break out of the Birdcage now that he doesn't have his safety net of his pet giving him administrative access to the Birdcage? I also wonder if his theoretical breakout will let the other inmates escape, possibly on purpose as a distraction?
 
It could be that Addy really is a 12-year-old, and that having a bunch of alternate life info dumped into her brain left her confused and emotionally unstable.

You're forgetting Scorchbeasts/the whole Scorched Plague stuff, Ultracite, the cryptids like Mothman, Sheepsquatch and Grafton Monster, and Fusion cell/cores and generators for power (And other resource collectors, since if they're set up discreetly there's less of a chance of getting caught)

Yeah that looks handy. I have Lords of Madness on her list mostly for the extra grafting options so I can add that too. I skimmed the transhuman book since it's mostly stuff that Addy will want for her Splyce minions than be allowed to use on herself (since she's not allowed any body mods for herself now without permission) and at the moment she's going to be focused on her anti-endbringer stuff. Once the endbringer fight is over she'll get to go full ham with the fun biotinkering stuff D&D offers.

Really useful. The transhuman guide is especially handy (more so for the Splyce stuff than for Addy at the moment). Only downside is I have to make sure stuff fits with the rulebooks I'm having Reality Lens draw from. The third eye of conceal was probably the most helpful suggestion since I mostly skimmed that section and i'm not as knowledgeable on the psionic side of things (especially their version of magic items). Addy will probably get a lot of millage out the psionic stuff since she and her sectoids are all psionic.
While I can't justifiably argue over the existence of fictional fiction, I imagine FFX is very different in Aleph. Leviathan attacking Japan on Bet would difinately dissuade Aleph Square Enix from making Sin. The Simurgh attack on Aleph made the Endbringers a credible worry and Sin would be a mockery of the deaths of millions even from one planet away.
Yeah thinking about X probably wasn't made or was made differently enough that it'd be wholly unrecognisable. That said Uber and Leet may figure out she's 'cosplaying' something from a final fantasy game simply due to the way she likes to call her attacks (for style reasons) and yelling firaga while throwing out blasts of flame doesn't leave much to the imagination in regards to the inspiration.

They can, but not all willy nilly. Addy has to start a project and then they then take over the construction. Thus Addy could start making a second one and the original could complete it for her, but it can't make a new one without her starting the process. It'll come up in story once she makes one.

Oh! Another good thing to bring is Avasculate from the Spell Compendium. Combine it with Assay Spell Resistance/True Casting, do lots of castings of that. But I suppose she has the various Final Fantasy versions of that concept? But, yea, there are combos to use this spell like a machine gun -- for example, (this is a FR example again), a Dweomerkeeper delivering 4 supernatural (and thus I not subject to Spell Resistance, the primary defense!) Twin Avasculates will reduce the hit points by a factor of 256 within a single six second round! That said, Avasculate and the Allip's effects are things that D&D Constructs are immune to -- but that Endbringers might or might not be immune to, possibly. It would depend on the rules/biology interactions, to be honest!

Oh! Or you could Plane Shift it somewhere else that it can't get back from. You might want some way to make the ability into a Supernatural ability to remove some of the methods of defending against that! Though I would expect Leviathan would have a lower Will save than a Fort save for that kind of effect.
It'd be a spell/spell-like since Addy would be doing it via making a scroll or wand or something or that nature.
Also, here's a question. If she made the Starmantle Cloak from Book of Exalted Deeds... what would it exactly do in this setting?
Not sure. I'd have to check, since I was considering adding the Book of Exalted Deeds onto Addy's list (since it gives that non-lethal damage enchant for weapons). If I do add the BoED onto her list then I'll probably add the BoVD onto it as well to balance things out (and honestly that book is the fun one)

Nope.
Also, the main ways to get access to Artifacts (like the true form of the Sphere of annihilation) are the following three options:
-The Artifact Lord epic destiny
-Tkhaluuljin "the Cephalopocalypse", the Epic Vestige
-The Annihilation spell (9th level, Force domain, from Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil.
Addy can make artifacts, though most of them tend to be fairly meh (or at least the ones from the books I'm using) or not 'cool enough' for Addy's ADD-addled attention span.
Oh! An interesting combination is the Heroics spell (Spell Compendium) + Sense Weakness feat (Draconomicon) + Surge of Fortune spell (Complete Champion) + a Vorpal Great Scimitar or Great Falchion (Sandstorm).
Sadly not on the list of books I'm drawing from for her.
No idea if just anyone can use one of these wands, but if so, she could sell the things for a mint. Or just make a few for Lisa and her splyce minions. Fixing things quick instead of being put back in a tub for a few weeks of regrowth seems useful. And Addy wouldn't even be needed to repair things, so she can spend her time making NEW things!
That's the idea. She'll make a couple wands for the Sectoids to do general maintenance work at the Splyce lair so she can spend even more time tinkering. Plus the PRT would pay a fortune to have their own ones to maintain all the tinkertech they want to have.

Yeah that mostly. It's to see exactly what it does and if there are any negatives. As well as so they can impose reasonable rules for her future patrols (no casting Ultimas on shoplifters, for example). Between her black mage and dark knight dresspheres alone she has enough powers for entire teams of capes and it's important to know what she's capable of.
I honestly hate that she's in the wards now. Your story and writing is great. But fuuuuuuck the wards. Fuuuck. It's already annoying how she's being curtailed by family, now she has even more minders! Graaah!
Eh, it's how the story wound up moving. Overall it offers me a bunch more options for some extremely funny scenes in future and won't be as bad as all the naysayers seem to think. The main problem with Ward protagonists is it restricts them. Addy already has another secret identity (Splyce) to play around with. Esp[ecially once she gets her ring of sustenance that'll let her get away with only sleeping 2 hours a day. So much time to tinker and do splyce things once that happens.
Think of it it less like Addy is now a government cape stuck following the rules and more along the lines of Addy now gets to chill and hang out with Missy in costume while simultaneosly driving Armsmaster and Piggot crazy with her antics.
Also also, @Unders I will be very disappointed if you don't give Addy the Coiling Grasp Tattoo. It's an uncommon, so it shouldn't be too expensive, it can't be stolen, though idk how it'd interact with Vitachabers (infinite dupe glitch pog?)
Not familiar with it and after a quick google check it seems it's 5th edition, which means it's not on the list. Reality Lens is pulling from 3rd edition.
Checking back at the fiction list, you included the Marvel cinematic universe, but I'm not seeing DC.
I can already think of some crazy things Addy could use from the setting.
- Motherbox
- Amazo robot
- possibly alien DNA that could be encoded (Kryptonian, Martian, Tamarrean that immediately come to mind)
- Atom's shrinking tech
- Lanterns (Can come in Rainbow)
- Reach Scarabs

I don't know if you take suggestions about additional fictional worlds you're taking from, but like how your only taking Marvel from the cinematic universe, if you take DC from something like the Young Justice universe, it should give a similar variety.
I honestly just not very familair with DC stuff and generally consider it to be boring compared to Marvel (admittedly I'm comparing the cinematic universes and quite frankly the DC movies suck). This is probably unfair and DC probably has some good stuff in it, but since I haven't read the comics or watched much of the cartoon stuff set in it I'd rather avoid the universe for now.

Overall, very fun fic. Addy is the cutest murder of crows in a trenchcoat. Well, she will be when she gets a trenchcoat.
Ty. She is fun to write, even if she causes me headaches sometimes. Had to rewrite a massive chunk of a future chapter. Like I love Addy to be bits but she can be so fucking stupid sometimes.
Really hope that during the next interlude we see Vista's view or the wards seeing magpie fight the E88

i think the only thing that will freak them out more is if they get the directors cut where addy brags about how it went down "Oh, love this part, betcha they didn't see me selfdefence Keiser into a statue!" "Pff, stupid dragonslayers got selfdefenced so hard, teach them not to kidnap girls and being mean to dragon"

"Addy, please stop using selfdefence as a verb. it doesn't mean what you seem to thing it means..."
