Ah, throwing all good will straight to the garbage as soon as possible. Master strategy for all ages.
In her defense, she didn't get that goodwill for Cauldron. She despises them. It was mostly so that she can get ungrounded.

... unless you were talking about Taylor tattling on her about that conversation with triumvate but I'm sure aunty would understand when she explains why they suck.

And no. There is definitely nothing wrong with this chain of logic and priorities.

Addy suffers from a combination of being literally insane (seriously, her perception of reality does not map to actual reality), and having a frankly incredible talent for making everything she touches to turn into a total clusterfuck. Seriously, I'm not sure I could be that much of a disaster if I was literally trying to do so and threw all morality out the window, Addy has something special. It's too bad her incredible talent is so destructive.

Everything about the post-fight conversations was solid gold. Addy's teammates realize that she's completely bonkers, her superiors discover that she has zero respect for them or their institutions, and Taylor is unofficially recognized as the only thing standing between a sane, functioning reality and Addy.

I pity Taylor, as she just opened a flowery can of whoop-ass on an Endbringer and is thus a priority recruitment target for everyone. I almost hope Narwhal asks for Taylor's help in stopping Splyce.

The bit with Myrddin was amazing! I hope Addy keeps him alive throughout the coming disasters, as they would make such an amusing duo. Hell, as the singular Protectorate member that Addy appears to respect, maybe he should be temporarily put in charge of the Bay!

Great chapter and I can't wait for more!

Caldron goodwill isn't worth much or really anything. They will do the same actions "for the greater good" no matter how much they like you or hate you*. So what they think of you personally doesn't effectively matter. If anything Maggie will get more concessions from them if they are well aware she doesn't like them. Of course their first response is going to be to try and strong arm her, but that would have been their first response anyway.

*A list of the people they work with and help makes that very clear.

Of course this was about everybody besides Cauldron (and Myrddin). Go back to post #4,228 if you don't believe me.

I inspected the tiny little Citykiller. He didn't look happy, but has seemingly given up on trying to scratch his way out of the bottle and was mostly just stomping about in the little puddled bit of water at the bottom of the bottle.

She didn't reply, obviously still taken aback at how amazingly I had dealt with her asshole brother.

This is the Simurgh realizing that Addie can, in fact, defeat her.

She replied, perfectly calm. Some of her bees were buzzing about a bit frantically though, meaning she was probably suppressing her nerves or something to appear more professional.

What's the sound of thousands of insects squeeing in excitement?

Self-replication is a serious issue Magpie. People get Kill Orders for it.

Now replicating other people on the other hand...

Oh my god. I am dying, this was amazing. The perfect blend of insanity, awkward conversations and a no nonsense attitude. Not many fics manage such a good start on a a post Leviathan arc and I am looking forward to what will happen with great interest.

All tinker of fiction stories always go heavily into biotinkering because anything else can and will be taken away. Also self replication is the path to true power. It doesn't surprise me that Caldron outlaws it, but it does surprise me that they don't make any use of it. Actually does Caldron have any tinkers in their inner circle since Hero died?

The actions they do 'for the greater good' no matter what are based on Path to Victory... which can't see Addy anymore. So the actions they do are gonna be based on other judgments of Addy's competence and their ability to work with her, which, yeah.

And the whole bit about how they would and will default to strong-arming her: while Unders appears to potentially be treating them as evil/stupid, there isn't a lot of evidence from canon of Cauldron actually strong-arming powerful people when they can work with them instead.

Friendly reminder- when Cauldron encounters powerful, unpathable, and potentially useful capes for the final fight, they do tend to start off with diplomacy and try their best to make sure said cape will still be around for the final fight. Eidolon is a blind spot and individually strong enough to take out the rest of Cauldron on his own, or at least he was back when they first recruited him, and Glastig was talked into spending her time in the Birdcage.

Rebecca, working with wrong information, will gladly try to strongarm someone. Cauldron as a whole, and, considering her long record of not being actually stupid, Rebecca with a better idea of who she is dealing with, is much more likely to take the Wait And See approach and try to get her to do what they want politely. "Don't antagonize the high powered Thinker that's also a Tinker great enough to beat an Endbringer" should be evident even to these fools.

By that definition, she's actually saner than everyone else :). She views death as temporary (to her it is), assholes as assholes who can't touch her (they can't), and life as about making things and having fun (which hers is). Just because everyone else is wrong about how to treat assholes who control the world, doesn't mean she has to. She knows her rights. All of this is just severe culture clash. The rest of the world just needs to catch up with her :).

Ya know.. Abby really should have enchanted some +skill items. Diplomacy, Read Motive and Concentration for example.

It's kind of a good thing she used Raise Dead instead of Resurrection, since with Vista missing an arm it will be kind of obvious to everyone why the armband reported her death.
If the arm had grown back Addy would have had to say she regenerated it for Vista when she found her, which I guess could also work, but is more 'impressive' than just managing to stop the stump from bleeding.
Oh, Vista thought she died? Nah, she just passed out from blood loss. That's fixed now, by the way. No biggie.

Yes, yes. I know she told everyone she knew Vista was dead, but people are going to start assuming sooner or later that Magpie thinks 'floating unconscious and dying, but can still be saved' and 'dead, actually' to be interchangeable. It will be easier for not-Addy people to assume Addy considers dying people to be corpses rather than realising Addy can raise the dead.
Note: this makes sense to me, but it might also be one of those situations I mention in my sig. I might take a second look at this post tomorrow.

Just a thought, but will missy and addie be holding hands on their way to the ice cream?
Well, Missy only has one hand to hold at the moment.

So. There is going to be a period of lawlessness after this attack, absolutely not as bad as in cannon. However, in this time of strife

wouldn't it be nice to have some more minions?

And would you look at that, Addy has 4-5 untapped minions just lying around. One even has powers of her own and they all know about Addy's secret identity.

It's kind of a good thing she used Raise Dead instead of Resurrection.

So when this all gets out I wonder if Addy would play a little prank on everyone they ask to resurrect. Instead of the resurrection spell, perhaps the reincarnation spell. Preferably the 5e variant because people will be a lot more upset if they become a badger instead of something like a female drow, still upsetting but not cripplingly debilitating to being able to do things.

I am surprised Addy did not 'explain' things, how Levi's prison is powered by constantly shaking it.

What?

She demonstrated it when she flipped it upside down, right?

Imagine them doing it constantly, for a long time.
