Absolutley in awe that this girl can say these things with an straight face. That Taylor isn't just bursting out laughing. That this girl deadass is going to point the fingers at other people being arrogant. I think Addy single handidly justifies just about every single fear Doc Mom had about natural triggers having an inverse relationship between power and sanity.
Addy: it's not arrogance if I am always right.

Because that would be out of character. Addy? Explaining herself? HA!

God this was a great chapter! Thanks, @Unders ! Dear god that was perfect. I absolutely loved Addy giving Alexandria and Eidolon their 'Reasons you Suck' speech. I mean. Holy FUCK that was satisfying! And Eidolon! Creativity of a brick shithouse with a big dick. Maybe he'll actually listen for once.

As for Alexandria, that was deliciously well told off. But fuuuck this is going to lead to interesting things.

I love how her power was like 'No! Don't mindlink to Simmy! NO! ADDY! STAHP! ...damnit.'

Addy knows she has a Friendbringer in Simmy despite being... Simmy.

And yeah, talk about one hell of a thing. Addy basically just intimated she knows all about Cauldron. And as the one who fucking BOTTLED LEVIATHAN its a god damn glorious thing!

Now Addy needs to get all her lost tinkertech back together and eat ice cream with Missy. Because they need ice cream.

Lots of it.
This reminds me of the Jaune from The Games We Play.

He said, the thing he will miss most about being a mysterious figure of legend was not having to explain himself when doing impossible stuff; like what is he a normal person!?

When he did things as Jaune everyone always asks endless questions.

Addy is going to be very upset when her ice cream time gets interrupted by people putting Missy in M/S screening. Or people screaming.
One of the two.

Probably both, really.

Also, poor Vista? At least she's getting a hug.
Could do with a more understanding hugger, but at least Addy understands that she needed a hug. That's... something. Low bar, but something.

God I love addy she's a tiny ball of insanity that this world needs to not be a complete shit hole. I need the interledues of everyone to this especially the caldron trio. I also love that they can't disappear her either as she is the only one who can actually stop and capture the end bringers.

... I mean, she is the greatest tinker since Hero, enabled the defenders to nearly kill an Endbringer, and just saved the planet by stopping them from killing the Endbringer, and did it by capturing said Endbringer in a bottle.

Did I mention her mad tinker power trumps Endbringer bullshit?

Because that makes the bar for "arrogance" rather than "justified pride" rather... high.

Yeah, that's gonna be really hilarious that she hasn't bothered to tell anyone outside her immediate family about the revival chambers. Prepare for alot more government stupidity. Wondering how long it will take her to point out that given about 8 months she could probally duplicate earth bet just to bluescreen everyone.

I flinched, gripping my head and feeling the beginnings of a headache at that full power burst of garbled data. It seems Simmy is a firm believer in sharing the pain. "Yeah, thinker thing really not working right now." I sighed.
They are going to come to the obvious conclusion that her thinker powers don't work on/around Eidolon.

Eh, Addy isn't really arrogant. More like terminally insane? Unable to comprehend the society mores that don't involve hugs or tentacles. Yeah, that's pretty accurate, IMO.

I wonder if addie will tell the other wards that she's died 3 times? Missy is definitely gonna need ice cream, and I hope addie and the rest of the wards will be next to her at the time.

Edit

Does addie know where her bodies are? If so then will she give herself a viking funeral?

Technically, she is MAD, not insane. She is very... Girl Genius Spark level MAD!

She is a grown woman who was thrown into a fictional world, installed with an INCREDIBLY POWERFUL Shard that has dramatic capabilities and intellect and influence on its host... and also put into the body of a 12 year old child whose mind is so utterly alien from the adult one she was in that the sudden influx of hormones, stronger emotions, and more were utterly overwhelming.

Basically, Addy is any of us if we were put into the body and mind of a pre-teen from an adult age. The human body changes A LOT over the decades of our lives, and the pre-teen body is quite a wild and scary place where Hormones are happening and Dramatic Changes are about to undergo. And if you put the mind of a grown adult who has long since past those years into the body of one? Whoa boy. Its lucky she ISN'T WORSE!

Coupled with how heavily and powerful her shard's influence is...

...oh, and there is also being trapped in a world she thought was fiction that is a Death World at nearly the highest order.

So yeah. Its understandable for her to be... a little Mad. A very Wonderland kind of Mad. A very Girl Genius kindof Mad.

Give her a few years and she might calm down. But yeah, shard fuckery? Not even once.

Also given that they think Eidolon interferes with Magpie's thinker powers they will have an easy time convincing themselves that she speaks out of half ignorance and doesn't know about Scion and therefore only saw their actions without the justifications.
Poor Chevalier, how messed up must she look to him? how do you freaking function?

Assuming he sees anything, third eye grants immunity to divination.

Actually there is a very good reason why she managed to say all that with a straight face:
I also eagerly showed off my binder full of scrolls, taking the chance to cast glibness on myself in the process since I was soon to be meeting with the Triumvirate and I needed my ability to bullshit my way through it in peak condition.
Glibness is an 8th level spell that lasts and hour and buffs your charisma. More specifically it lets you replace any roll you make on a charisma check with a 15 (on a d20). Additionally, no matter what you say, magic that would determine if you are telling the truth indicates that you are being truthful.

So not only does she get the gift of gab for an hour, any Thinker powers or Tinker gizmos are either going haywire or indicating that what she said was 100% true.

When pictures of Bottle Leviathan hit PHO... oh dear.

I think the ENTIRE COUNTRY of Japan is going to be heralding Addy as the heroine she is.

Though not throwing Leviathan into the Sphere of Annihilation... But then, the sphere would remove the bottle first, and Leviathan would immediately balloon out and probably lose a big mass but run the fuck away.

Well, things continue being very entertaining.
I am looking forward to the after action report and the interludes coming from this.
Interlude chapter is coming up next. May be a little while because I like to keep a buffer and this whole Fallen/S9/Cauldron mess is really busy so I keep having to redo and rewrite entire sections. Especially when Addy metaphorically just dumps gasoline on the fire.

Well the straight face part is helped out by the glibness spell :V
And yeah, Addy can be a bit of a hypocrite at times.

ok, why didn't Addy just say she would revive Vista when everyone kept asking what was wrong with her?
I mean, it's common sense that she can revive people, she personally died 3 times today! I mean, sure it has drawbacks, but I like to think of them as maintenance costs for immortality! It's not her fault that nobody can use their brains properly. She specifically wanted her body so she can have Victory Ice Cream with her, it's just common sense man! Connect the dots!
Then she would be stuck reviving everybody, even jerks, forever, and they would never get to that ice cream party.
It's a mix of both. She doesn't want people to know she can raise the dead because then she'll be stuck doing that for ages, but she also forgets that normal people see death differently to the way she does
He likely can't see anything if his power counts as a divination effect. Which would explain the extra staring.
We'll see his perspective in the interlude along with a sneak peak at Reality Lens :D
I love how her power was like 'No! Don't mindlink to Simmy! NO! ADDY! STAHP! ...damnit.'
Reality Lens isn't spared from the suffering either.
At this point Taylor will get white hair before she hits the 20's.
Well to be fair if she does she'll match Addy :3
Hey guys!
I found Vista!
Turns out, not dead!
Yay!
Ice cream time!
This is a fairly accurate representation of Addy's though process.
Addy is going to be very upset when her ice cream time gets interrupted by people putting Missy in M/S screening. Or people screaming.

Well to be fair they didn't have Vista's body so it's not like they can tell she got raised from the dead. Not unless Vista blabs.
Also, poor Vista? At least she's getting a hug.

Well there'll be ice cream involved soon too. Hugs and ice cream fix all sorts of problems.

She's strong enough (after this showing especially) to get away with being a little arrogant.
And yet she still manages to clear it. :V

Well they say there is a fine line between genius and insanity :3
Besides, everything is better with hugs and/or tentacles.

She's also got a load of accidental brain damage and Reality Lens is running part of her mind on shardware due to that.
She should mellow out a bit with age, assuming she lives long enough.
Poor Chevalier, how messed up must she look to him? how do you freaking function?

I cut so much from that scene. Addy had originally gone full out on calling them out on their cauldron bullshit (including the BB experiment) in front of Taylor before I dialled it back to what it currently is.

Yeah, it's such a good spell. and definitely needed with Alexandria having her cold reading ability.

Isn't that only in 5th edition? I haven't been following all the statements @Unders made outside of story updates (this fic is popcorn to me, not something I really dive into), but just from the items she makes I get the sense that this is based on D&D 3.5.
In that case, Glibness is way, way better than what you're describing. Glibness got nerfed to hell and back in 5e. It used to be a 4th-level spell that had the following effect: "Your speech becomes fluent and more believable. You gain a +30 bonus on Bluff checks made to convince another of the truth of your words. If a magical effect is used against you that would detect your lies or force you to speak the truth the user of the effect must succeed on a caster level check (1d20 + caster level) against a DC of 15 + your caster level to succeed. Failure means the effect does not detect your lies or force you to speak only the truth."

Wait. So... that scene was Addy being diplomatic?
