Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

The game would break and the Quest would crash.

...

...

Need omake now.

TOP MAGES ARE WORKING ON IT.

So if you've been keeping up with SAGE QUEST, DXD DIPLOMACY WINS ALL EDITION you know something happened in the past few turns involving ludicrous rolls and planetary bodies.

TLDR: Multiple Earths.

Also, if humanity is a part of Gaia, then buffing her would buff humanity. All of humanity.

Oh, and we're part of humanity too, so we'd buff ourself.

Probably wouldn't actually work that way, but it makes sense under the rules as written.

:V you know that thing where you do a recursive call and forget to put in an exit condition, and then it goes on forever (Or well more accurately until either CPU turns off, memory runs out, or compiler ends it early).
Something like that~

And then Gaia got to experience SPIRAL DRILL POWER.

Not necessarily if they have something like the Not human modifier like we have I can see not needing to kill them.
Biologically. By definition, we are and will always be a human/goddess, metaphysically, which is where she's counting.
Most planet-scale beings reside in the ecosystems that reside on the surface of their celestial body.
Soooooooooooo... You know that movie Avatar? With the blue space elves? Looking at it through the lense of these definitions...

Weapons that can instagib other planets literally only singe her clothes off, and we're already making her nicer looking ones out of steel and glass. I can't help but imagine that her headphones look like the polar ice caps, though.

Fortunately, it is not a spell, so it's not improved by Core Connect, even if it did affect Nepgear.

Though if you add in Echo of Peace, and my speculation with Segarite Core, and humanity will have received an immense upgrade. Gaia would be so happy.

Now I'm curious. Did my Gaia come up in it? That'd be funny.

This Is Your Earth On Drugs Spiral Power

Other planets can go suck the proverbial "It", whatever "It" is, because humanity is the best. Weapons that can instagib other planets literally only singe her clothes off, and we're already making her nicer looking ones out of steel and glass. I can't help but imagine that her headphones look like the polar ice caps, though.
Now your picturing Gaia with planet-sized headphones listening to music.

Fair enough, fair enough.

I started writing it and quickly realized the omake will either be short and pure crack, or really long and like /funny/ but still... uh real ya know?

Now I'm curious. Did my Gaia come up in it? That'd be funny.
Well if you're not going to read the quest I'll explain in spoilers below... kinda big spoilers though, but they shouldn't affect your enjoyment of the quest. It'll just lessen the big reveal impact.

Anyway no your Gaia did not come up in it. The uh event was actually multiple asteroids appearing via crit success as THE GREAT RED decided to give us multiple un-harvested copies of our current asteroid mining that was in LEO. My omake has multiple Earths appearing in a pentagon-ish formation with the current Earth. TLDR there are now FIVE Cores to destroy to kill Gaia, and four new untouched planets full of resources for humanity.

Some may include dinos because fuck yeah dinosaurs are awesome. Magical Girls may now ride pet raptors and T-Rexs into combat.

So while Gaia doesn't show up, the whole HUMANITY ULTIMATE WEAPON OF EARTH concept does show up as humanity is constantly making new weapons now or improving themselves to be super badasses that can fight on par with supernatural beings of old, and many are now becoming godlike or god level combatants.

One of the BIG THREATS in the setting, invasive Chimeras from another dimension have been revealed to be the end result of another dimensions humanity going crazy far into bio-tinkering. The result is well something GAIA wouldn't like as they're basically a multi-dimensional single entity that instead of being giant LCL tang, is instead a hive mind thing / single consensuses thing or whatever in control of a countless horde of well, basically inter-dimensional locusts.

And it's revealed we've been fighting the equivalent of 'red blood cells' or something so far, and the first 'white cell' has shown up. It's basically going to be an entire boss battle. A single 'combat cell' of a multi-dimensional being that is going to be eventually killed off by Big Red over the next... century / decade? One of the two. (Big Red is basically the biggest toughest thing in the setting, and guards the dimensional gap from stuff like said chimera from getting to Earth).

@Nightfallen, thanks. @crystalwatcher, I want to write an omake about the Dark Lord that attack earth and got nuke in his face but I need more details. What the name of that Dark Lord? When that Dark Lord attacked earth, did earth already join the Unified Light or was it thanks to that Earth was become aware of the war? Did the Unified Light at that point was aware of Earth or was it after the Dark Lord attack and death did the Unified Light become aware? If they become aware before the Dark Light attack, what were they doing? Were they planning to intervene for whatever reason or were they decided to sit back and stand by for whatever reason?

Have Omake Now

It seems that every time you enter the command tent, it gets more and more crowded. There's the commander for which the tent is named, of course, and there's Rei standing right next to him. She has an unusually satisfied smirk on her face -not that her smirks don't usually look satisfied, or pretty- BUT! She generally looks more infuriated and scary around him. Your maybe-honorary big sister San slouches in the corner, to the extent that the tent has a corner. You're honestly not sure where you stand with her, though you've been making an effort. She's been really distracted recently. You suppose it's understandable.

Then there's everyone else. Team GEAR, as always, stands beside you, and Carnage is nearby since you were just talking with her. Then there's Truth and Blue Sky and Judgment Core and her sister and Red Rose and White Knight and a War Angel and a couple human soldiers. Their uniforms indicate tank guys.

It's pretty uncomfortably hot in here, really, and not just because of Sam's sexy, sexy-

MOVING ON

The commander inhales, and JC stops poking people.

"Team GEAR," he says without preamble, "The cameras have caught sight of six demonic foot soldiers approximately fifteen miles west of here. Your mission is to destroy them."

You tilt your head. "Understood, sir. But… you mean the foot soldier foot soldiers?"

"Those ones, yes. Go kill them."

You haven't actually had much time to build up anything like 'pride of the magical girl,' but you feel it shatter just now. "Is this really a job for all five of us?"

As the commander begins to speak, Rei Rei-ses her hand and steps forward. It's a small step since Blue Sky is like a foot away from her, but it's the gesture that's important. "No. All-" Her eyes flick around the room, she totally had to count them. "Twenty of us. We should be able to handle this, and if not-"

Rei stops.

Your hand jerks towards Purifier Beam the instant before you see the woman appear in the tent, but you soon relax. It's only Gaia, after-

Why is Gaia in the command tent?

"Twenty-one," the personification of six times ten to the twenty-fourth power kilograms of rock and metal says.

"Fuck it, twenty-one. If anyone else would like to come along, please teleport to the outside of the tent," Rei says. Everyone else starts chattering too, since discipline has obviously become a foreign word by this point, but you tune them out.

Nobody seems to take Rei up on it, which is… good? You actually think the sheer concentration of dakka in this tent approaches enuff, and by this point you just want the day to be over.

Gaia strides towards you dramatically, but she stops three steps later. She grabs White Knight under her arms before the poor girl can react, lifts her up, turns around, and deposits her gently on the ground. Headpats occur.

You suppose if anyone has the right to unlimited headpats, it's Gaia.

Before Gaia turns back, everyone else has cleared a path between her and you. Traitors.

This time, Gaia's dramatic stride actually looks dramatic, and she soon comes to a dramatic stop in front of you. "Magical Girl Nepgear," she says dramatically.

Solid Core, it's Solid Core! dramatically

She suddenly has an arm around your shoulder and it's actually kind of nice. "So." She squeezes you, and you squeak because that's a thing that happens now. "I was watching this show, a good one, not that formulaic trash, and it was just adorable so long story short I wanna be on your team now. Powerup please."

"Right," you say. You're not really sure how this is going to work. You don't really know her all that well, but on the other hand you had didn't know Gabriel that well either. There's also the kissing thing, but you've been traumatized enough so you would like to, you know, not. You focus on the connection between yourself and Gaia- both the physicality of her arm on your shoulder and the emotional ties. You know Gaia. She helped you out before, and even if the scorpion was hilariously unhelpful you liked the WEAPONS. She tried to warn you about the kidnapping. Literally every human is a part of her, and what closer connection can there be than that? Just thinking about it you can feel the POWER of… wishful thinking. You open your eyes to see an unconnected Gaia an inch away from your face. With her lips puckered.

"I need an adult," you squeak. Your voice squeaks, that is.

"Oh, Anastasia," she breathes. "You can't get more adult than me. I am literally as old as dirt." How attractive. She leans in-

-and Gabriel punches her in the side of the head, sending her to the ground. "Sorry, no. Actually I'm not sorry, still no."

Gabriel is the best.

You need to get this over with, so you lean down and give Gaia a kiss on the forehead. You're so done with this shit, and if it doesn't work you'll just kill the monsters and move on with your life.

Gaia starts to glow. She stands up, giving Gabriel a grin.

That worked? Does that mean I didn't have to- but then I wouldn't have been able to-

Being a teenager is hard.

Gaia continues to glow, and it's actually starting to hurt your eyes.

Mike pats you on the back. "Looks like you've got competition, nightlight." Two syllables. They rhyme. It's snappy. Please don't let this be another nickname.

"And now the ground is glowing," Red Rose says. "In my experience… this has never ended well."

"Not again," says San.

The ground is glowing, but more importantly the ground seems to be growling. You actually should have expected something like this, considering that you just hooked up an infinite magical nuclear reactor to a planet. A+ planning there, but it's not like any of the supposedly responsible adults stepped in. Except Gabriel, who is best girl.

"I feel… really good," says Gaia.

That's when the earthquake starts. And maybe that's some kind of metaphor, but also a lot of people probably are about to die. So.

Rei- Goddess Gold hurls her chain through the ground, and the shaking seems to subside. She probably just bound the Earth or something cool like that. Then the quake comes back twice as violently.

San sighs.

You flail your hands, you poke Gaia, you try to do something with your magic, but nothing helps. The tent collapses, but while the crowding was amusing before nobody is in the mood to deal with it, so somebody teleports everyone outside. The base is surprisingly still standing despite the distant crashes you're beginning to hear. The Counter Force builds to last. Or they use tents. It's a sliding scale.

You're not sure, but it seems to be heavier.

One of the soldiers falls to the ground, and not from the shaking. It's definitely heavier.

"Well," Gaia observes. "This is absolutely no fun at all. I might even say that it's an absolute clusterfuck."

The commander is barking orders, but you can't hear anything but the planet beside you and below you."

Rei raises her sword, but San covers her hand with her own. "It's okay."

"People are dying! We just had this-"

Gaia interrupts. "There's no need to let this continue; I have everything I need. Do it now, White."

The sky cracks to match the shattered earth. And holy shit Goddess White just ran Gaia through.

Gaia blinks. "it didn't take?"

San shakes her head. "You're too strong, now. This better be worth it."

The first fallen soldier, now being supported by James, begins to emit a familiar glow.

"We'll figure something out. Every little bit helps."

San shakes her head. "I get it… but this is the twelfth time this week."

Rei looks like she's about to murder somebody, and it's going to be Gaia.

Gaia smiles. "What you're asking for… it's not easy, you know?"

"Hmph."

You're kind of feeling ignored, here. Most everyone else is running off to do damage control, but you're still in Gaia's arms. Everything is wrong and you can't even move. Then San walks in front of you and presses her lips to yours.

What the-oh. This is kind of nice.

Your pink mingles with San's white as Gaia accepts the sword through her neck and time and the world break.

XXXXX

San jerks.

Your hand jerks towards Purifier Beam the instant before you see the woman appear in the tent, but you soon relax. It's only Gaia, after-

Why is Gaia in the command tent?

"White," the personification of six times ten to the twenty-fourth power kilograms of rock and metal says, "That never happened."

The goddess of time nods shakily. There's something about her mouth.

You consider asking, since they seem a bit upset- but since whatever it was never happened, there's nothing to worry about. Right? You finally tear your eyes away from her lips.

You simply give Gaia a cheerful wave and refocus your attention on the matter at hand; namely, the monsters or gods or universes you're about to meet on your upcoming mission.

Gaia seems to regain some of her composure "Right, let's do this thing, everyone." She teleports to the entrance of the tent (dramatically) and walks out. Nineteen people of varying genders, species, shoe preferences, and levels of comprehension follow.

"I was supposed to say that," you hear the commander grumble. He gets out of his chair and brings up the rear.

So, after the tanketeers were en-tanked (you don't know how tanking works), you all drove/flew/ran to the place with the thing, and what you did to those six unfortunate demons was, well… they probably welcomed being sent to Hell. You seemed to have avoided the C-rank curse this time, so everyone felt a little silly about the whole thing. You can't help but feel like you dodged a bullet.

You got to help an old lady carry her groceries, too, so that was nice.

Is... White still empow... wait no, NEPPOWERED?

I'm mildly wondering if that's implying that Gaia's tried over and over again to get NEPPOWERED without accidentally causing serious side effects. Or other people of crazy strength?

Soooooooooooo... You know that movie Avatar? With the blue space elves? Looking at it through the lense of these definitions...

Her weapon specifically says human and we have an ability that says we're not human. Thus we are not part of Gaia's ability.

You could clearly see in your mind's eye the sadness on Rei's face as she talked about her sisters. Just as easily, you could picture Sega's face the morning your life went to hell.

You know this actually says a lot about how attached Nepgear has become to Rei. It shows that it's not just Rei that's latched onto Nepgear but that Nepgear has equally latched onto Rei.

"San..." The sound of her actual name makes Goddess White's eyes to snap directly to you, and draws the attention of the rest of the room as well.

This definitely grabbed a lot of attention. From what we've seen Magical Girls tend to just go by their Magical Girl Names and only share their personal names with those they are very close to. So knowing Goddess White's first name is very peculiar and will be definitely be remembered by everyone involved.

Hell that's probably why everyone stood down from the brink of combat; they were wondering how the hell Nepgear know that name!?

"ANASTASIA BOHEART! I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION I HAD TOLD YOU TO COME TALK TO ME BEFORE YOU LEFT BASE!! I WAS WAITING FOR YOU FOR OVER FOUR HOURS BEFORE I FOUND OUT YOU HAD GONE AND LEFT ON YOUR MISSION, WHILE COMPLETELY FORGETTING ABOUT ME!! WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELF?!?!"

...ouch. That.... ow.

Poor Rei. Can you imagine what was running through her head as she stood there for four hours waiting for her little sister Nepgear to show up? Especially considering that Nepgear abandoning her, like all her other sisters, is probably one of her biggest fears...

Just ow.

That aside this is the fact Rei called Nepgear Anastasia is very noteworthy. The only other time, that I can find, where Rei called her Anastasia was:
"Nepgear!" You run to her side, gathering what's left of her torso into your arms. "Nep...?" Your heart hurts. Your limbs are heavy, and your throat sore from constricting. "Nep, can you hear me?" Her eyes are dull and lifeless: the vibrancy that marked her existence as unique was faded to nothing. Her hair is almost black from the dirt and ash.

"Anastasia, come on. Say something." You refuse. You refuse to lose something else precious so soon after having found it. Not after losing everything else for this useless title of 'Hero' that your sisters wasted their existences on. "Please Anastasia. Don't leave me!" You can feel her weight slipping away, already her lower body is gone, taken away by the little light that was drawing her in.

Her arms are gone as well.

"You can't leave me! Please! I... I've got nothing. Everything I own amounts to nothing compared to you! Please!" You beg. You beg her not to go, not to leave you again with useless trinkets to keep you company, and a cold bed to greet you at night. Empty praises from the merely human soldiers, or the weak girls around you.
which certainly shows the state of mind Rei was in after being abandoned by Nepgear.

Oh and it also makes it clear to everyone there that Nepgear has a special relationship with Goddess Gold since Goddess Gold both knows her personal name, first and last names even, and clearly cares for her, what with the whole waiting for four hours.

As the screaming stops, the room is deathly quiet. Your tension is drained, and you find yourself gaping in astonishment by what had come through the radio. Now you could hear stifled laughter, though you couldn't spare the brain power to try to figure out who it was.

There are just so many possibilities. I can literally imagine anyone there being the one laughing for their own reasons. The only exception would maybe be Angel WEAPON.

"Umm... I was kinda-sorta distracted right after the meeting broke up? I mean... I had a thought about my powers, and wanted to test something... but when I figured out how to work it and kissed my teammates I couldn't really think of much-" Your babbling cuts out with an audible choke as you realize what you had just said. And there's the desire to be swallowed up by the ground again. "I totally forgot, I'm sorry, please don't kill me or spread what I just said!" Your voice gets really squeaky by the end of that sentence.

Tension? What tension? Nepgear is an adorable squeaky toy that exists solely to obliterate with maximum prejudice all tension in any given situation.

Just burn the fucking virus with your lightbulb-ness.

I wonder if Nepgear will remember to bring this up since Team GEAR decided to keep Nepgear's lightbulb status a secret from her. Through now that I'm reminded I'm curious.

@crystalwatcher - Assuming it's not too much of a spoiler can you tell us what would have happened if we had voted to use Core Purge on the virus instead of diplomacy?

You are never leaving base without Rei again, and you're pretty sure Rei agrees now

Now? I'm pretty sure Rei agreed before this mission. Now Nepgear will be lucky if she doesn't up chained to Rei, probably using Enkidu her Chains of the Earth spell, to make sure Nepgear doesn't wonder off again.

But I really don't want to fight her, because I barely made it out of my fight with Ni

You know this could be considered humble boasting? I mean just rearrange that sentence a bit and you get "I survived fighting the fourth strongest Magical Girl!".

"Rei... Yeah. I'm here sis." San has lowered her sword. The tip of the blade rests against the ground as she stares hollowly at your feet.

This must be super awkward for San. She's avoid talking to her big sister, I presume Rei is the oldest because zero, for years and now she's got to try and explain herself.

"Seriously? Seriously?! The point?! The point is Ichi! She gave her life for this war San! She always wanted to save lives! She's still trying to save lives! If we simply up and kill off the entirety of Humanity, then what was the point of her sacrifice? Huh?! WHAT WOULD THE POINT BE THEN SAN MITSUBISHI?!?!" San flinches in the face of Rei's roar.

Ouch! Rei is very good at chewing out her little sisters. I bet saying those things hurt Rei as much as it did for San to hear them. That's family for you; no one can hurt you more then they can.

"Getting them back means nothing if we lose ourselves along the way! I don't want to hurt either of you either San... So please... just come back. Forget this nonsense and come back to me... please San..." The anger is gone, and in it's place you hear Rei's desperation. This time, San does bow. Her eyes clench shut, and you know, in a way only a little sister can tell, that she has caved.

This would be the point in the update where my mouth dropped so far it hit the ground and bounced back up. The fact all that worked, rather then San doubling down on her crazy plan, is still, even days later, truly stunning.

Encouraged by the victory, you turn to the Maidens. "What about you? What do you two fight for?"

The two sisters have moved to stand next to White, and at your question they share a look between each other.

West shrugs at East, and the younger of the two turns to you. Her voice remains childish and kind.

"We just want to watch the world burn."

This however would be the point where I went "Oh fuck!"

(Black Blade of Morass: 10,000 Base Damage, no dice, +45,000 Back Attack, +10 Surprise = 55,010
Goddess White: 350 Base Resilience, Dice Negated, -350 Didn't see it coming, -500 I thought you were my friend = 850 Extra Damage

50,860 Total End Damage

Goddess White: 150,000 - 50,860 = 99,140 Health Remaining, Goddess White is incapacitated.)

That had to hurt poor San. She was quite literally back stabbed by the girls she treated like little sisters, even though they called her auntie;
The fact that East had literally hopped over to Goddess White didn't help your mental balance any.
San smiles at East, before raising her hand and patting the top of her head. "Good girl. Thank you for leaving it for me to take care of. You go with West and head down to the ground floor, would you? She'll help you find what we're looking for."
"Alright!" With a big smile, the smaller girl dashes around White to her sister.

Considering San is doing all this for her sisters having the girls she's taken to caring for as (not) replacement sisters betray her is probably one of the worst things to ever happen to San.

For a moment you just stare. Then East raises her blade again and you raise the Purifier Beam faster than you had ever thought possible.

"STOP THEM!" Your voice roars like thunder in your ears and everyone moves. "KEEP EAST BUSY!"

Well. We seem to have found one of Nepgear's buttons. Not surprising considering how much of an influence Sega has had on her life and how she's basically Rei's fourth sister (Yon!) and so kinda San's sister.

Black Blade of Morass: 10,000 Base Damage, no dice, +0 King Slayer = 10,000 Total Damage
James Robert: 500 Base Resilience, no dice = 500 Damage Reduction

9,500 Total End Damage
25 Strain Damage

Return To Sender: 1,250 Base Damage, no dice, +10 Surprise, +500 Hostile Divinity Effect = 1,760 Total Damage
Maiden of the East: 0 Base Resilience, no dice, +400 Epic Existence, -350 Didn't see it coming, -500 But you're human! = 450 Extra Damage

2,210 Total End Damage

Maiden of the East: 66,000 - 2,210 = 63,790 Health Remaining, East has been 'disarmed'.

This was a very impressive showing on James' part. He disarmed a Maiden of the Apocalypse despite being 'merely' human. He is a certified Badass.

James reaches East, and the Number Eight Strongest Magical Girl takes a swing at him, The blade moves fast, trailing a contrail of condensation as it cuts through the air, impossible for any merely human opponent to track.

But James does the impossible, and dodges it.

...that is crazy fast. As far as I can tell there are only three ways for an effect like this to happen:

1) Particulate matter acting as nucleation sites. This is where you see high altitude contrails from. Impossible since the blade isn't releasing anything.

2) Wingtip vortices causing pressure drops resulting in condensation. This might be applicable but I doubt you get the right kind and amount from a sword.

3) A vapor cone forming due to the blade going Transonic.

In other words parts of the blade were likely going supersonic. Which makes James dodging it even more badass.

Then Gabriel and Angel WEAPON join the fight and everything goes to shit.

@crystalwatcher - I'm not sure this is the phrase you meant to use. In every example I've seen used saying "everything goes to shit" means things turn really bad and while that is true for the Maidens this sentence makes it seem like things go badly for us. IE: Gabriel and/or Angel Weapon get hurt/die. Which decidedly doesn't happen.

Might want to change it. For example "and everything goes to shit for the Maidens."

Sky Cutting Blade: 5,250 Base Damage, +2,167 Dice, +0 King Slayer = 7,417 Total Damage
Maiden of the East: 0 Base Resilience, no dice = 0 Damage Reduction

7,417 Total End Damage

Maiden of the East: 63,790 - 7,417 = 56,373 Health Remaining

Gabriel Casts Judgement!

Blade of Light: 4,000 Base Damage, +4,500 Judgement, +263 Dice, +410 Dice, +2,000 Ramming Speed = 11,173 Total Damage
Maiden of the West: 10,000 Base Resilience, +306 Dice, -8,000 Shield Askew = 2,306 Damage Reduction

8,867 Total End Damage

Maiden of the West: 51,815 - 8,867 = 42,948 Health Remaining

Does anyone else find it hilarious that Gabriel, our brand new Angel, did more damage, and to the tougher of the Maidens, then Angel WEAPON?

Purifier Beam: 747 Base Damage, +93 Dice, +500 Hostile Divinity Effect = 1,350 Total Damage
Samael Full Auto: 1,250 Base Damage, +250 Full Auto, +250 Full Auto, +250 Full Auto, +250 Full Auto, +250 Full Auto, +68 Faith in Victory, +491 Divine Inspiration, +500 Hostile Divinity Effect = 3,559 Total Damage
Michael Full Auto: 1,250 Base Damage, +250 Full Auto, +250 Full Auto, +250 Full Auto, +250 Full Auto, +250 Full Auto, +68 Faith in Victory, +500 Hostile Divinity Effect = 3,068 Total Damage

7,977 Team GEAR Damage: 23,931 Total Synchronized Damage (Hail of Lead)

@crystalwatcher - Not that I'm complaining but what exactly happened here? You've previously said:
Human soldiers can trigger a x2 synergy bonus if at least three of them are firing together.

If ten are firing together that multiplier grows to x5.
and while you could definitely argue that Nepgear counts as a third soldier, activating the x2 synergy bonus, this isn't a x2 or even x5 bonus. 23,931 is 7,977 times three.

If you meant for it to be a x2 bonus it should be 15,954 instead.

Maiden of the West: 10,000 Base Resilience, dice negated, -8,000 Shield Askew, +400 Epic Existence, -7,500 Juggernaut = 5,100 Extra Damage

Now that is interesting. We know form our previous attack:
Purifier Beam: 757 Base Damage, Dice Negated, Juggernaut Negated = 757 Total Damage
Juggernaut as negated but it worked on our second one?

My guess is her Shield has some kinda ability interaction that negates it and since the Shield was askew, IE: the attacks didn't hit the shield, it didn't activate? If so it seems we need to look out for stuff with the Indestructible ability since that was probably the cause here.

"That was such bullshit." You leap into the air after Angel, White, and Gabriel, leaving the merely human members of Team GEAR and Truth to climb out of the hole on their own.

Heh. Poor Truth. She's the only Magical Girl here without any flight.

"I didn't even get a chance to take a swing at anyone." You hear Truth mutter to one of the other members of Team GEAR.

You know this brings up something rather amusing. Look at who fought in each turn:

Turn 1:
Nepgear
West
James
East
Goddess White

Turn 2:
Angel WEAPON
Gabriel
Nepgear
Samael
Michael

So it seems that Nepgear and James were the fastest off the starting block followed closely by Goddess White, although she did have to wait for her injury to heal. Then Angel WEAPON and Gabriel went "Oh yeah fight time!" and joined the party a bit late, before finally Samael and Michael joined in with Nepgear's second attack.

I guess Nepgear and James are just use to diving headfirst into Goddess Tier combat and the rest of Team GEAR only needed a couple seconds to shake themselves out of shock and engage. Poor Truth meanwhile was too stunned to even do anything.

Number Five strongest Magical Girl. Hero WEAPON. Gaia's Champion and the only other Magical Girl to ever truly reach the level of the Goddesses.

Oooh! Nepgear's at 9/10 and all of the Top 5! But damn Fem!Cloud is strong.

Incidentally to any Final Fantasy fans any clue as to who the third WEAPON might be? They seem to have a FF theme so far.

[Get out of there!]
You, and everyone else around you jerk at the sudden voice in your heads. But before any of you can do anything about Gaia's sudden shout, the ground caves in underneath you and everything goes black as you're sucked into the dirt with a shriek.

I have to say I'm surprised that no one had either the reaction time or just the reflexes needed to launch into the air before they were trapped.

And from one, comes a sight that you desperately wished wasn't there: Goddess Gold hits the ground with a clash of metal from her boots. She strides over to Team GEAR and Truth quickly, frown affixed firmly to her face. "Where is everyone else?"

Poor James. How the hell do you explain to Goddess Gold of all people that you just lost not one but two of her little sisters.

You look to Truth, the young woman is carefully trying to edge her way behind you, Sam and Mike both step a little closer for moral support.

Doubly poor James. You stall one Goddess and all of a sudden everyone starts hiding behind you when an angry Goddess shows up.

You heave a sigh and look at Rei, "You literally just missed them. They all decided they wanted to visit the Underworld and decided the best way to do it, is to get sucked into a massive sinkhole from nowhere." OK, sassing the nigh-unstoppable force of obliteration that was almost steaming from the ears in her rage was probably a bad idea, but you were more than a little pissed yourself.

....Okay. James is an awesome character. We have to spend more time with him after this.

"And you're not going to." A most unwelcome voice cuts in. You turn around, and barely manage to not shoot the motherfucker that walks up to your little mini-gathering. The Commander (for some fucking reason) had apparently decided to join in on this localized invasion personally. "You and your Team are going to remain here and help secure the area. Once we're sure no more surprises are in store for us, then we'll see about figuring out how deep this rabbit hole goes. Understood?"

The urge to shoot the guy and go chasing after Nepgear rises again. "Understood." He nods and walks away, leaving you to turn to the now red-faced Goddess Gold, who is clenching her fist hard enough to make the metal of her gauntlet groan. "I don't like that bastard." Rei makes an unintelligible sound of rage in agreement, and you quickly skedaddle.

....Does this guy have zero sense of self preservation? I fully expect The Commander to get fragged sometime in the not too distant future.

The fact the research building was on fire from whatever Gold was doing simply gave ambiance to the scene.

...Rei is really angry.

+500xp Curb stomped the Maidens of the Apocalypse!

This is surprisingly accurate. Of the 84,223 damage done to the two Maidens Team GEAR was responsible for 63,621 or 75.5%. Now sure that likely wouldn't have been possible without Goddess White and Angel WEAPON's assistance, especially White's sending West's shield askew, but we still ranked up the vast majority of the damage.

My money's on the "Indestructible" property.

And then it turns out to be an expy of someone not from FF7, like Auron or Squall. :V

[X]Wait for the area to be secured. More guns means your more likely to rescue Anastasia and the others.

More we wait, more XP to have Nepgear rise from the hole in the ground later

How exactly do you see us somehow getting more XP by waiting longer to rescue Nepgear? Remember she's not fighting, as far as we know, she's captured.

Incidentally I don't think waiting is a good idea since all it will really do is get more people killed. After all normal soldiers almost certainly don't stand a chance at whatever is down there.
