Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

And you can see why it gives me a headache.

And since crystal has demonstrated a lack of mathematical ability, I feared we'd take it, and then several thousand dice rolls later, unleashed a combined attack so powerful, it rips apart the very fabric of space and time, because there are more Celestial Severances inside that 50 metre space then there are particles in the universe.

And then Gaia and/or Cosmos kills us if we survive.
As funny as reading this is, thank god I already realized that my self.

Echo is little more than a coin flip. Full stop. When Celestial Severance is cast, it's abilities proc, it's damage is calculated, then Echo would flip a coin. Heads, it would cast the ability again from scratch, tails the attack ends.

So long as the coin lands on heads, you keep attacking. But there's only one chance for it to proc per attack. Extra abilities like Double Cast or Quadra Magic don't give extra chances to proc.

For reference 2,353 Echos each containing two Celestial Severances plus the initial two gives a rough Final Damage of around 7,942,396. Given that it's an unstoppable attack that is enough to take 22.7% of Gaia's Health. I'm pretty sure that would classify as an extinction level event.
Yeah. Everything in that hit-zone is dead and gone. And Gaia is probably screaming at the top of her lungs,

"WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!?!?!"

That's reserved the Late Game upgrade. :p

And I presume that mean it casts 2 Celestial Severances each time Echo procs?

A very unlikely event, that's what! Also, sorry Gaia.
This setting is seriously unfair. I feel kinda-bad about it all.
Unfair to who, is the important question on my mind.

No he's not.

Everyone. From the top:

The Fights are fast-paced, short, and extremely brutal.

The Big Bad I'm trying to make into a version of David Xanatos with all that implies.

There's several other powers in the background that have vested interest in the outcome of the Eternal Conflict, only one actually caring if one side survives.

The people with the potential to stop it are either all tied up, getting duped, dead, or want to see it continue.

And that's just the top.

Who's he?

I'm assuming this does not include ones like Gaia or Shiva, due to their participation.

I want a who's who list, honestly.

Oh, and something I forgot to ask: what are the requirements for being a Dark Lord?

You.

Spoilers.

Again, spoilers.

It's more of a mantle of power. When a Lord of Darkness rises to the 'throne' if you will, he designates a successor. When he dies, the power boost goes to whoever he designated and the cycle continues.

The power itself is actually pretty impressive. The problem is that it doesn't come with a user manual which lead to the death of a lot of Dark Lords. When it passes on, it sucks up all the previous Dark Lord's power to give to the next guy in line, steadily making the mantle more and more powerful. The current guy was able to figure out the general line of succession that the War was going to cause and slowly worked his way into it, once he got the power he started working on surviving so he could keep it.

So on.

Well, then you were wrong.
Spoilers.

Again, spoilers.
That was me talking outloud. :p

Neat. Is there any limitations on designating a successor, or could we mindcontrol one into naming someone in the Unified Light to be their successor? And what happens if there's no designated successor, presumably due to that person being killed simultaneously with the Dark Lord?

Dark Lords are immune to mind control or mind-altering abilities. One of them got really paranoid about it so he decided to make sure. Didn't save him from poison. Past that though, since the original form of the Mantle was made by the Unified Darkness pooling power, it has to be someone on their side. Trying to pass it to someone on the Unified Light's side will get them killed.

It floats around for a while until it picks a demon at random. If the Demon isn't part of the Unified Darkness, it kills it then repeats.

Have some votetally. I here it's nutritious.

Hmm, what would happen if the Mantle was unable to kill the bearer, despite the bearer being on the "do not work with" list? Does it detach, or is it stuck?

Also explains why they don't defect: they can't. Though that does raise the question of what'd happen if the Unified Darkness split apart and ceased to be for whatever reason.

Well, final question: has there ever been a Magical Girl Dark Lord?

Doesn't Gaia have the combined human unconsciousness on her magical tablet-analogue? She'd know exactly what that was. Her reaction would be something more like:

Anastasia stared at the destruction she had wrought. The entire fleet she had been facing was utterly annihilated, and it would be no exaggeration to say that the waves generated from the water trying to fill the space-visible trough were tsunami-esque in scale.

"Oops—*Spritz*—waaaaaaaaah!"

Gaia leveraged her water spritzer again. "No, Bad!"

"I'm sorr—*Spritz*—eeeeeey!"

"Bad little girl! Don't do that again!"

"I'mSorryItwon'thappenagainpleasenomorewaterplease..." The soaked Anastasia looked at Gaia with huge and contrite eyes. She didn't want to be spritzed again.

"Aaaaah, darn your adorable eyes. You've learned your lesson. We'll be having a talk if I catch you at this again though, little missy." With that final warning, Gaia walked off.

Anastasia's watery puppy eyes followed her until she disappeared, pressing little bits of guilt into her titanic mind. Maybe she shouldn't have sprayed her twice...
