[X] [Mega] The completion of the Sacred Forest gives the Arthwyd new wisdom and insight into the way of the world. (Gain a new Value)
[X] [Crisis] Claim new land and found new settlements to increase how many people the Arthwyd can sustain

Sprawling just kicks the can down the road.
Granted, this would probably generate whole new kinds of problems, but it wouldn't be overpopulation(which stems from us having always had enough food so far, so nobody thought they should stop).

Lasting solutions:
-Birth control
-Revoking food-for-all
-Increased food production per land unit
We are very far from sprawling, the vast majority of our claimed territory is empty of settlements. (89 new settlements before we max our current territory)
Food is also not an issue, we have plenty of Temp Econ. Our Passive Policy : Agriculture is helping produce an abundance of food.

The issue is the same as last time, we are stuffing people into houses like sardines. Last time it was because we accepted lots of refugees, this time it is because our birth-rate has seen a temporary increase.
The Arthwyd are having lots of children because everything seems (to them) be going well, and there is a very large amount of extra food being produced.

One risk of an Overpopulation Crisis is our people departing our civilization to build their own settlements elsewhere. Luckily the census caught it while the issue is still minor, but it is likely our next [MAIN] should be more settlements.
First of all, Econ is an abstract measurement of how much spare food you have/how much spare manpower you have. Permanent Econ is how much spare food/manpoower you can produce on a long term basis barring outsider factors while Temp Econ is how much spare food/manpower you have right at the moment. It isn't a representation of how much food you have total, but how much excess food you have.

For the population crisis, the problem is less space as in farm land or places to found new villages, but spare housing in your current settlements. The Arthwyd spent a couple centuries without any major expansions whilst you have building up plenty of population between your relatively low death rate and longer lifespans. This has resulted in things getting cramped and if you hadn't started to recently expand, you would be looking at an overpopulation crisis thanks to the sudden influx of refugees. This is something of an Arthwyd population as other civs haven't built a pop like you have and a civ without your high level of control would have people go out and start their own settlements (something you risk getting in an Overpopulation Crisis). The overpopulation crisis is also unrelated to any food issues as you have enough food to feed everyone with a lack of housing being the problem.

Having overpopulation is absolutely not a bad thing, as we have so much more space in which we can expand both within our borders and as a potential lowlands colony.

Considering our tremendous population size is one of the main things we have going for us compared to other civs, I'm inclined to keep it up so long as no major complications occur because of it.

I'd argue that clamping down on birthrates suddenly will hurt our culture since it directly opposes our Marital Prowess value. It could cause confusion and a fracturing of the Arthwyd identity.

Though I can definitely see how housing came to be the next crisis I'm a little surprised it wasn't related to the food supply or governance. If I am interpreting the actions correctly sitting at 0/17 main farming means that our food supply should actually be fairly fragile, given our population size, and having 0/17 messengers has the potential to restrict how effectively we can handle a crisis or even just day to day governance. @Oshha could give us a better idea of how big of a problem these could become but we may want to focus more towards clearing the backlog of the more basic actions for a few turns even if it means slowing down on more exciting actions like exploration.

We're voting to found new settlements this round so the new value will likely be something about constant expansion, something that'll hurt us in the long run. Let's instead go for the nature innovation because it might give us birth control.

@Oshha what's the new blessing we got from Evalyn? Also, what happened to our military and religious technologies?

Your food supply is not fragile, you are just not fully utilising all of your potential ability to produce more food and such. The lack of messengers sort of restricts your ability to centrally government as it is so much a case of the lack of them imposing penalty, but having them helping counter the fact that you have no quick methods of long range communication.
@Oshha what's the new blessing we got from Evalyn?
I'll get around to it shortly. I was going to do it sooner, but I ended up playing Bannerlord all day.

The Blessing of Evalyn
The Blessing of Evalyn
Working similarly to the Blessing of Arthryn, Evalyn's blessing piggybacks off of her mother's blessing and everyone who has the Blessing of Arthryn also has the Blessing of Evalyn. The Blessing of Evalyn is one good for war as befitting the Goddess of Battle and the founder of the Catclaws and the Blessing of Evalyn is completely physical in what it does. The blessed have robust bodies that have greater strength and fitness to them. Their muscles are bigger and stronger while their bodies can endure higher levels of physical activity before tiring about.

This increased muscular structure and the other enhancements to the body would normally require additional food and plenty of excise to maintain, but the magic behind the Blessing of Evalyn pays for these costs, allowing the blessed to retain the benefits without having to pay the price for them. Should they lose the Blessing of Evalyn for whatever reason, they will have to maintain the benefits on their own.

***

I was going to write some more, but there isn't that much to the Blessing of Evalyn. It is a general all-around physical improvement to the body and the only real noticeable aspect is bigger muscles.

Personal Stewards of Nature
Through the blessings of the spirits and the efforts of the People in individual and whole, the land is reshaped, and its management and protection is a good above all others. No effort is to great when it comes to the stewardship of the land, and many pursue their own little projects where it does not conflict with the symphony of the whole
Pros: Bonuses to all actions relating to land management, bonuses when fighting on own terrain, additional Econ and Stability whenever completing a land management type Megaproject, may spend Stability to double the effort of megaprojects and in defensive wars, certain projects may receive additional actions at the midturn at the cost of Centralization
Cons: Additional strife caused by deliberate environmental disruption unless it is for the long term betterment of the land, or loss of territory to others

_a Sacred Forest based Value might help next time we fight in the Cursed Forest, and having another Value could help the Arthwyd develop more.
Our Sacred Forest is a lot more geared towards denouncing Venice our undead neighbours isn't it?

Kinda meh, tbh, and it doesn't really seem to fit?

It's rather generic and it doesn't seem to connect with any relevant aspects of Evalyn's life.

I mean, as quick summary of what Evalyn did :

1) She wasn't a native Arthwyd, but a foreigner
2) Her foreign upbringing gave her a dedicated military upbringing (as opposed to the shared military/scout role of the Cat Eyes) which allowed her to form the dedicated military arm of the Cat claws.
3) In her battle against the Boars, she relied far more on cat like agility and archery than on melee combat and pure strength (her spear gets shattered by Vervov's strenght almost immediately as soon as he gets in range).
4) She isn't stronger or smarter than Vervov, but has to rely on faith to defeat him (Including a divinely empowered super punch)
5) After a massacre, Evalyn decides to seize power from the priesthood

Thematically, as a blessing you'd expect maybe something focused on divine magic or archery, as those were Evalyn's signature weaponry.
Or perhaps something that focusses strongly on defense, as that ties into the theme of the wall as well as Evalyn's most defining moment (the seizure of power following the failure of the priests to defend a village).

A blessing that focusses on strength is extremely generic, and doesn't really fit the character. Neither does a blessing that takes away the food requirement (she has existed in a civ that had no issues with food for the entirety of it's existence) or a blessing that takes away the requirement for hard work (her entire thing was that as a foreigner she worked extremely hard despite lacking the blessing, and was then rewarded for that).

This is assuming that there's a One True Blessing that's Most Appropriate to get, when there isn't. It's a matter of a cruel, shit god giving us a "blessing" that she chooses even as she knows it'd cripple an entire species and wipe out our military's air force. Fuck Evalyn. Never trust her again, never vote for anything related to her again.

We should never have extended Arthryn's Blessing to the Birdfolk. It's clearly detrimental to the way we want to pigeonhole them.:p

Hopefully, Blodwyn the Explorer has ascended to divinity so she can fix the compatibility issue.

The Blessing isn't something based around what Evalyn did in her life, but something which she would give and can give as a Blessing as a goddess, which is something useful in everyday life and benefits everyone. It isn't just strength, it is a general all round boost to the physical ability of the body. It results in greater strength and toughness, but also better running ability, agility and other physical tasks done using the body. It benefits everyone, has plenty of martial and non-martial applications and is generally all around useful. Ultimately, it isn't something flash and mysterious and that was always going to be the case as I always planned for the Blessing of Evalyn to be Boring, But Practical. It falls within Evalyn's domain and lets her help a lot of people in everyday life. That is why it is her blessing even if it isn't something fancy based off of what she did in her life because frankly, Evalyn exists beyond what she did in her mortal life.

On a related now, it also does boost archery and divine magic as the former benefits greatly from having better strength and the latter is improved by having greater stamina due to being able to cast more magic. While it doesn't directly improve those things, the Blessing of Evalyn is definitely beneficially when it comes to doing magic or archery.

This is assuming that there's a One True Blessing that's Most Appropriate to get, when there isn't. It's a matter of a cruel, shit god giving us a "blessing" that she chooses even as she knows it'd cripple an entire species and wipe out our military's air force. Fuck Evalyn. The Arthwyd never had an air force to be wiped out and no species have been crippled.
