[X][Diplo] The Arthwyd agree to drive out the Nersondur out of the Lowlands in exchange for the return of the ancestral Forlucan heartlands. (Arthwyd Empire goes to war with the Nersondur, Diplo++, Increased Forlucan opinion, ???)
Developing the idea of warring for the sake of our allies WILL make us more brittle, but I see it as another method to potentially expand upon that inclusiveness, this time in a manner that might help us long-term integrate not just the Caradysh but also those lesser colonies that seem to be pretty devoted to the Arthwyd, despite having their own reigonal culture.

Fighting the Nersondur now gives us time to learn how to wage war, waiting for them to cozy right up to our border, enslaving and conquering as they go, and allowing them to wall up is going to put us in a terrible position, we won't be able to make mistakes then.

I have one main reason for picking this over helping the Caradysh with their war.

Helping them in the war is a single transaction. After we do it there's nothing really preventing us from going back to our Cold War level of hostilities with them, nor will it really cause any significant level of change in Arthwyd opinion.

Open borders essentially forces the Arthwyd into contact with the Caradysh over several generations, which is the best bet of curbing any anti-Caradysh/anti-undead sentiment (assuming you would wish to do so of course).

Purely for war xp

Yeah, but war is expensive, and our Econ is dangerously low. And as said above, this won't help as much with eroding the racism against the Caradysh.

Both of those options are no-goes from an IC perspective. Option b) erodes our tech advantage and option c) lets them kidnap our people for their blessing. It would also have our empire in open revolt against us, since we would lose even more stability and legitimacy. I could imagine going to war right now, just one of Arthryd vs Caradysh, not a sub-part of our empire.
The Caradysh can't take blessings. It's a bad idea to assume they can do something in this quest because of what they did in the old quest. In general, spinning up conspiracy theories based on nothing for the purpose of distrusting, despising, and/or attacking another people is pretty bad practice.

When did this happen?

Somewhere between the War of Three Powers and the dragon getting slain. I can't remember exactly when off the top of my head and I'm not sure if it made it into an update rather than being a background thing that the Arthwyd picked up via trading with the Forluc, learnt about it from communications with the Caradysh, who were a Forlucan vassal at the time.

While apparently possible. If the method involved grand theft person, then there might be some crusade issues from trying to do that, which anyone aware of the Arthwyd as a culture would be aware of...

Just thought I'd post something and see if this can change anyone's mind.
This is Oshha on discord, in regards to believing the Caradysh are evil. Hopefully those who are convinced they are bad can be turned away from such.

Yeah, I don't get that to be honest. I figured that SVers would love the chance to be smart and figure out the stuff that the characters are unable to figure out in-universe.

On the subject of declaring war, as well as the possibility of getting military innovation from said war, I'll say this:

I forsee this war going in one of two ways, both of which make declaring war now non-optimal

1) The Caradysh, now that they've deployed their heavy cav, stomp on the invaders, leaving us doing nothing but minor skirmishes with little chance for innovation

2) The Nersondur are still able to beat back the Caradysh even with their undead boar cav, meaning that we can join in later for heavy combat while further indebting the Caradysh to us

Waiting to see where the wind blows would be a win/win situation for us imo, as either the war isn't worth jumping into at this point military innovation wise, or we can paint ourselves in an even greater light by helping the Caradysh out of the good of our hearts (and nothing else, totally :V )

...The Revanents was 'made' in response to the undead being very limited in independant action and/or smarts if I remember correctly(Edit: Dumb like our 'AI' can be perhaps?), while Revenants are 'immortals?' created from people, in a fashion that may or may not have parallels to our own blessings...

One of the reasons I want to do Main Trade Expedition is to get more information on the Caradysh. Might be able to find out what happened to Urth. The Caradysh are also a great civ for Charitable Haven to get a value from.

The record, I am remaining neutral on the votes as I am the QM, but yeah, I feel it should be obvious that the Arthwyd have been horrible biased towards the Caradysh to the point that you should take their beliefs on the Caradysh with a grain of salt.

Revenants predate wights actually. You have revenants running about the Lowlands centuries before the first wight was created (by Urth).

I did not recall that having been mentioned. Though it would make sense to just throw the zombies at people ad not put yourself in danger, unless said zombieswights ran into problems which might have been why I thought the wights came first...

I'm not sure if it came up in an update, it was pretty early in the first quest and the players didn't have much interact with the Lowlands back then. I mean, the Lowlanders would know so the Arthwyd would know by now, but it is one of those things that happened behind the scene that didn't come up in an update, but I shared in the thread because it is something the Arthwyd would know by now.

I thought the wights came first because the revenants seem more advanced.

Revenants were originally created from mass blood sacrifice to the Forest Spirits and then Urth figured out how to create revenants using arcane magic and from there, how to create mindless versions of revenants.
