Changing Destiny (Kancolle)

wait... Churchill actually had a good idea?
it is easy to look back and say 'that was a bad idea'. he may have had his flaws, but there was nobody else who had the testicular fortitude he had, even when it looked like Germany was going to trample over them.
interesting case in point, when Churchill made his speech to Congress and spent three weeks in Washington. upon his return, Churchill held a vote, because too many people were bitching that he wasnt in London, and the vote taken was a 100-0 to keep Churchill as Prime Minister.

He was an amazing politicain but from what accounts i know an awfull military leader

On the other hand, he did have a couple and shall I say the majority of his ideas were in the right place. Not in the details but he could see the big picture. The destroyer for bases deal (not favorable but he needed those ships), Torch being an example. Coventry also being another moment of... we need to keep ULTRA secret so let the city go. Additionally, he's a politician. His generals and staff were the ones that had the responsibility to temper his schemes. They.... I would say they did a pretty shit job and that was the problem.

For all that I dislike Churchill's military 'prowess' as a commander, I do acknowledge that Gallipolli wasn't completely his fault, and I find that he was a great Minister of Munitions. Read up on where he thought a war of 1919 would lead, and he was a visionary. As Germany did exactly what he thought the Allies would do in 1919 in their 1939-1940 campaigns. He foresaw combined arms assaults of aircraft, tanks and infantry as the future of warfare when others were still debating the use of tanks and pushed heavily to get them built in greater numbers.

I think Churchill's saving grace in World War 2 was him keeping Sir Alan Brooke as chief of staff despite their disagreements - otherwise Churchill would have been almost as bad as Hitler with yes-men 'advising' him. The relationship between the two is amazing to read about, and likely a key part in Britain seeing the war through to victory.

He certainly knew how to organize a war. His War Offices in London had a map room, and there were so many pins in the map throughout the war for each and every convoy running that the punctures take up the entirety of the Atlantic Ocean for that theater alone.

If nothing else, his stint as Minister of Munitions lets me respect his ability to organise a war, yes. I have full respect for his ability to do that, and to keep people motivated. His ability to command a war is what I dislike about him. Hence why in my eyes Sir Alan Brooke was such an important part of his staff and why I respect Churchill for having the sense, despite their arguments, to keep him around and respect his opinion.

I really wonder how he would feel meeting some of the shipgirls, especially the Queen Elizabeths. They were created because of him, yet were on the receiving end of several of his mistakes. I can see it being something like his relationship with Brooke - deep respect for each other, yet volatile.

I think I remember that. It was Queen Elizabeth herself, the flagship of the Dardanelles campaign.

Actually, now this makes me want to see Queen Elizabeth (ship) meet Princess Elizabeth. It would be a hell of a way to get the Royal Family involved.

the princess was working in a grease shop during the war. it would not be too far out there for her to get shuffled to the docks and get tossed into the QE due to some paperwork snafu and it goes underway with The Princess onboard.

I was thinking more about the Royals finding out about shipgirls/ship spirits and Elizabeth wanting to meet the battleship QE

Well, the Windsor family has always had a close connection with the Royal Navy, with many members serving. In fact, Elizabeth's father was a commissioned officer, who served as a turret officer on HMS Collingswood during Jutland. Her soon to be husband, Prince Phillip served with the Royal Navy during the Mediterranean campaign in WW2, and Let's not forget Phillip's uncle, Lord Louis Mountbatten and how he served in the Med and Burma. In fact, I'd like to see him and HMS Kelly meet sometime.

Technically speaking, a reinforced underground bunker would be a safer place for Elizabeth than QE, imo. No chance of her dying from a "golden BB" bomb setting off a main battery magazine that way.
no. the luck of having Princess Elizabeth would ensure the Queen Elizabeth would leave port with nary a scratch on her paint. when it is found out, two or so days out of port and heading to join other ships of the Home Fleet, the ship can not turn around, as it is covering for The Hood who is in America being repaired, and as such The QE can not turn around, even if she does have Princess Elizabeth onboard. the Princess could be the first to see QE.

Personally I have a terribly low opinion of Mountbatten due to being Canadian and remembering him for the bloody Dieppe Raid that was to a large part, his fault. I'd rather we stay away from him b/c he was terribly controversial for this.

This may be a bit off-topic, but I would like to see the reactions of Col. Fertig and his men when USS Narwhal arrives to deliver supplies to them in Japanese-occupied Philippines in 1943, and for Narwhal and her crews' reaction to being met with a uniformed band playing "Stars and Stripes Forever", if the above scenario happens like in OTL.

Her arms aren't nearly thick enough for having such big boobs.
...I blame anime proportions and ignoring the reality that the healthiest way to up one's bust size is to increase the pectorals under them.
Mate. She's somewhere between 1,65 meters tall and 270 meters long, with a weight (pleasedon'thitmeSara,I'mmakingapoint) eyeballed as somewhere between 55 kg and 43 thousand tons, and is the embodyment spirit of a ship (and/or the several thousands who built and served on her). A bit of anatomial improbability is nothing compared to that ;)
