How old are first years usually, for reference?
As per Anna's statement just referred to, 16 is the average. As we know candidates are sometimes found late enough it is not entirely unusual for first years to be older than third years, it must follow the age range is something like 13-20. (With the majority in 15-16 range but a number of outliers.)

I totally missed the information about Anna's height and that it changes. From what I get of the comments it is because she has removed one of her cannons for science but why would that affect her size?

Valkyrie cores change their users. And Durga's been on a 'let Anna be more normal' kick now that she's not fighting for survival all the time. Apparently the extra height was useful somehow but Durga thinks not towering over everyone like a giant will help her feel more normal now that she's not fighting for survival all the time.

Is that why the one pilot has armor for her hair?

You mean her hair isn't protected by armored cones?
What if the drills get damaged man?!
No, that happens. But that's armor over her hair. Wait... Hm... Maybe I was the one who was confused. The phrase 'armor for her hair' could mean armor replacing her hair or armor protecting her hair. I took it to mean the former since we were just talking about Valkyrie Cores altering the bodies of their users.

I thought Sandra wore an elongated helmet for her absurd amount of hair. RIP neck muscles tho.

And Anna shrinking is obviously because the audience grant us the spinoff we wanted to exist, a 4koma series with a chibi Anna doing science things in an oversized lab coat and a anxious Durga in a gynoid meido body.

have you ever read through something only to feel like you've missed something very important? That's how I feel having read through three pages of thread marked posts but missing 760. So, for fear of my sanity I have to ask: what the heck did I miss?

HAAAAAA FINALLY CAUGHT UP! Holy shit, I forgot how good this was.

Now, I'm not going to ask when for the next update to the mains story, because everyone and their dog seems to have done that already. No, I will ask for something far more important... Faux-Chan reactions to the tournament arc. And, more importantly, the fact that Mr. Super Speechul Protagonist-Kun actually LOST, and fairly decisively at that. Didn't even make it to round 5!

One hell of a ride. While I fully accept that a complete read-through of this thread may be more than mildly impractical, a sense could be gain by reading all the pages since the last update. Also the stuff in all the other thread-mark tabs(apocrypha/media/informational/staff post*).

There is also context to be gained from flipping through the story posts while not in reader mode. Just looking at the number of pages between the updates should give you some idea just how much debate has been done, and occasionally done to death**.

*if you are reading a thread with this option, it is always interesting/informative to look up
**not to say you should keep quiet on any topic, but I can quote myself on part of how this thread got so long:
Mostly through newbies walking in, kicking over a barrel of gasoline, dropping a lit match, and watching the fire burn. All of which was accidental. Really, seriously, accidental. I recognize that this thread is bloody massive, and that people should not be expected to read the whole thing. As well as that if you just read the story posts you will arrive to latest page feeling that some story posts are quite recent, because they are only sixteen of eighteen, but those posts happened over the course of more than a year.
Some topics are/were fairly salt inducing. Most of those are directly related to a vote (geometry notwithstanding). One of which was the organs on/off thing.

Most of it you really don't need to read but you should read the threadmarked Apocrypha, Media, and Informational posts.

If you're still hungry for more reading, you can also go through all the links in this post and see if any aren't threadmarked:

Have any of you ever had the feeling that we added an extra year to the delay before Avalanche writes the next update with the content we chose for the vote?

Because I definitely have.

It might be me just be me, but avalanche seems to have a bit of trouble with skipping over stuff. Or at least, that's what I remember from my last reread.

Granted, that feature is part of what makes me enjoy this quest so much, which kinda removes incentive for that to be removed.

...shit, now I want to finally do a full read of the thread. I cave and just read the threadmarks every time I try.

Sudden plot twist.
Avalanche is actually writing the quest all the time.
We just don't get to see this part of his work.
Skipping on updates that are not uploaded.
Since we chose the 'skip' option.

Yeah, definitely. We tend to maximize content per chapter, because we want as much awesome as possible before the overall story ends... But I *really* don't think we need to worry about that, and voting for fewer things might instead speed up the overall plot progression. Which would be nice, since avalanche has hinted at neat things.

There's also this factor in having the chapters big: :p
What I should have done:
What do you guys want to do in the morning and lunch?
*write update for morning and lunch*
What do you guys want to do in afternoon and evening?
*writes update for afternoon and evening*

Well, right now we're only 2 months or so away from waiting a full year for the next update.

Which, given the size of the chapters, actually indicates Avalanche has about the writing speed of most novel writers. At equal to better quality, depending on the novel writer you compare Avalanche to.
