Not bringing the Type Zeroes would've meant getting tossed back by Valkyries. Bringing them in slowed effective response as the Three Hundred are rushed in.
Bringing one means that you don't get tossed on your ass by Valks.
Bringing two is kind of excessive and means that the UN are more free to make move on other fronts.
Bringing three is the sort of local superiority that just means the UN just nopes out and evacuates what they can and begins minor offenses wherever those type 0s used to be.

Anna IS a first gen. She's just not one of the first wave of first gen.
I think first gen is being used with different meanings.
One side is arguing that she is a first gen because she found her Core rather than being given it or what have you.
The other believes that since she didn't find it when the Valks first appeared she doesn't qualify.

Considering that we've never heard mention of Valk Cores that are second or third generation I belive the second meaning is closer to canon.
The 'First Generation' is a term used to describe a group of exceptionally old Valkyries or Valkyrie Cores that were discovered in the initial wave of finds.
Or at least thats how I see it.

All these people wondering why Type Zeroes aren't fighting like Zergs and I'm just sitting here, wondering why three of them decided to gang up on a single Arcology with two doing fuck all.

Seriously, what the fuck were they looking for there? Did that particular place have something they needed?

Guerra was a Forward Operations Base, not an Arcology.

Until the Three Hundred show up.

If they know where the rest of your supercombatants are, perhaps, or they've got preparations set for an offensive and are only waiting for the best moment to start.

Maybe. But an assault spear headed by three Type Zeros will punch through nearly any defensive line, so the UN wouldn't be going for an offensive. Not from the get go. They need the strategic reserves that such an offensive would require to push and keep going to hold the line, or strike back at the enemy attack.

And that is if the UN is confident about where the enemy has stashed its troops and is prepared to perform an offensive. Otherwise the UN's defenses are going to be even more compromised because they are undermanned due to the attempted assault on prepared enemy positions.

Not really, the Cores are just Cores, the Generations mostly point to the Valk's hardware set and skill focus. Although Avalanche seems to use both anyway, the UN is using the 'active period' definition.

Until the Three Hundred show up.
What do you think the Three Hundred do all day? Sit around on loungers waiting for attacks to happen?
The attack can't be considered in a vacuum rotating Three Hundred suits means that they can't be elsewhere and its only the highest ranked ones who can reliably solo a Type 0. You don't bet the fate of millions on reliably, you make sure that there is no chance of failure, which means not drip feeding single suits in.
If they know where the rest of your supercombatants are, perhaps, or they've got preparations set for an offensive and are only waiting for the best moment to start.
We do know where they are. Attacking an arcology. The rest of the time they're hiding out on whereever the other side of a breach is.
The moment they start attacking they stop being an unknown and the UN can do stuff.

I don't think you're considering travel times. Valks teleporting uses up significant amounts of Impeller meaning they aren't combat ready on arrival, conventional forces are just not fast enough to respond on a continental scale. When attacks like this happen, you've got what was nearby at the time and thats it. Its not unreasonable for the UN to say 'There's a big attack in africa so we may as well use the troops in Europe while we know a lot of the forces that can defend are elsewhere.'.

Hard to calculate optimal tactics out of universe :/

E: oh somebody post something so i can post the thing!

Groups like Last Word?

Yes, yes I do expect that they're on generally light duty until they're called for emergency response. That's their job, unless they're being prepped for attack duty.

The attack can't be considered in a vacuum rotating Three Hundred suits means that they can't be elsewhere and its only the highest ranked ones who can reliably solo a Type 0. Correct, that's why you bench an entire squadron and have them available for rapid insertion. I expect that members of the Three Hundred don't actually have their Three Hundred cores up and active at all times, or even synched, but get assigned the nearest cores ASAP. Anna is strange because she doesn't need a Three Hundred core to perform on that level.

We do know where they are. Attacking an arcology. The rest of the time they're hiding out on whereever the other side of a breach is.

... You realise that there's a lot more than just 3 Type Zeros, right?

And somewhere entirely separate, a man, otherwise unimportant, states the obvious.

"Shit, man, those reinforcements sure as hell ain't getting there in time."

Ahem. As per this blatant plot device used in a non-canon Omake, clearly reinforcements take significant time to transition to a new front. Otherwise Anna would have had help with that Zero, see?

Groups like Last Word?
Anna is a member of two of those groups.

Clearly she can't be active in both at the same time and infact is currently active in neither. Those groups are aids to help Tacnet organise a response and plan strategy, they are not hard and fast formations.
... You realise that there's a lot more than just 3 Type Zeros, right?
Even the largest estimates the thread has created say around 50 to 60. 3 is a significant proportion of that.
Although the Valks can travel that in minutes. :V
At significant cost to their impeller and combat readiness, yes.

Actually, Anna practically did that without using any impeller.
Although it did cause local flight control a bunch of problems.
I'm not sure what you're reffering too.
The flight control bit make me think of the getting to weapons testing scene. Let me just remind you of these qoutes.
It is 400 kilometers from Perth to the Ordinance Testing Ground, around three to four minutes of flight at cruising speed, but… you never did properly test out your straight line flight speed, even though you now have a fusion reactor.

The fusion reactor was amazing, flying such distances at such speed used to be all theory work for you before, especially if you wanted to fight within the same time period.

The strain on your Impeller is actually worse than what would have occurred if you had just chosen to shift all the way here.
So basically if you want to arrive combat ready reinforcements you can count on Valk Reinforcements from within 100km for every minuite that Type 0 is smashing down your front door. Sounds like a lot. Except look at how massive the front the UN need to defend is. Draw a hundred kilometer circle on a map of the world and you'll find it's actually quite small, all things relative of course.
That was a 400-km full burn. What we're talkng about here is group teleportation.
I have yet to see evidence that Teleportation is more efficient as a group and we can safely assume it's less efficient than standard flight considering that with no threat or reason to preserve Impellor Anna decided to fly rather than teleport.

Mmmm... Less efficient, certainly. Probably faster, though, and I expect crossing the distance between fronts faster than c and then rebuilding impeller is faster than just travelling on thrusters. It's been cited that the "sole reason for formation flying on the battlefield" is group impeller actions, including "mass teleportation." So, potentially that changes things.

Wtf is it about aussieland they have all the best writers

Creativity is a survival skill on The Continent That Wants To Kill You.

on Mombasa Arcology in 2066. Applied for and found to be Valkyrie Core compatible despite political exemption after the incursion.

According to

(2069 Bangladesh incident) The next few blocks of report were of much higher classification again and you skipped to the end, where the result was Shuri confined to a hospital for two weeks, you note that it was her first ever admission to any clinic out of necessity, and Sandra confirmed as Valkyrie compatible. How either those two events came to be you could only guess.

First quote somewhat misleading, though not wrong...

Not...

Oh.

Enrolled in Perth Valkyrie Academy for the 2070 year in 2068.

Was involved in the Bangladesh kidnapping Incident in 2069.

More thorough quote from bangladesh

You move on, looking into the Bangladesh kidnapping incident and the Resignation of UN General Carrel, the two events which apparently happened within days of each other.

The Bangladesh kidnapping incident turned up quite a few news articles, an outraged public that had reacted furiously that human trafficking could still exist in the world, let alone that such a group of criminals would operate inside an Arcology where the UN should have all but maintained Panopticon. Shuri had destroyed the operation singlehandedly while on leave from combat, leading to many jokes as to how combat leave only applied for the Antagonists and that criminals needed to get in line to apply for combat leave from her.

The classified military reports were much less humorous. It had been a targeted attack aimed at Sandra, piggybacking onto the back of an existing trafficking ring to disguise their actions. Much of the report was whited out to you but you could make a gist of what happened. Shuri had been rooming with Sandra and reported her missing, eventually trying to find the other girl on her own initiative when UN Public Order had been sluggish to respond. The next few blocks of report were of much higher classification again and you skipped to the end, where the result was Shuri confined to a hospital for two weeks, you note that it was her first ever admission to any clinic out of necessity, and Sandra confirmed as Valkyrie compatible. How either those two events came to be you could only guess.

Yeah change 2068 enrollment to 2069 k? K. @Avalanche

Also: factcheck Shuri too, though w/ Shuri there is no conflict:

(shuri) Enrolled in Perth Valkyrie Academy for the 2070 year in 2068.

Furthermore, timeline updated on page 494.
