And yes. Some Major Arcologies can fly.
Seeing as Arcologies are actually super-capital-sized Valkyrie units , they must have a Core (or Cores) in their innermost parts to manage the processes to sustain an entire city....

That means for each Arcology, there's a single Valkyrie at worst, or a group of Valkyries at best, that are linked to their Cores to sustain the entire place. And since 24/7 synchronization seems to be incredibly hard (unless you're Anna), they take turns/shifts in connecting to the core.

Unless... aren't synchronized cores semi-permanently bound to their pilots?
Doesn't that mean the pilots whose Cores are supporting the Arcology are stuck in there?

You don't necessarily need to synched with a core for its components to be extended and working. In fact, Arcologies go far, far, faaaaaar over the volume limit of the storage space.

The function of the basic life support functions are all quickly created to be indedent from the Valkyrie core itself. For example, all of Perth's energy generation structures have physical links to the things that need them and don't just rely on the Valkyrie core's voodoo to get electricity to a component where it is needed. You're not necessarily stuck there. The activation of the more esoteric functions such as the Simulators and... well nothing else really, just the simulators requires a Valkyrie synched in though.

The section recited in class is also slightly inaccurate, Perth Valkyrie Academy, usually thought of as part of Perth Arcology, is a separate Valkyrie frame. Director De Vries is the Valkyrie in charge of the Academy frame, and she honestly quite likes Perth and doesn't mind staying inside.

Also, 24/7 synchronisation is pants for all first generation Valkyries. Non of them would have problems with keeping their frames constantly on like you do.

Well like any of the crew except Anna anyways...

Though being synced in all the time isn't really a problem with something as big as an Arcology, as long as you can move around.

Biggest damned game of Simcity ever. And you never have to stop.

Mh... I was skimming through some lore about Durga and found an interesting thing:

During a battle against someone whose name was Raktabija (apparently that means "the bloody seed" or something like that, which is pretty awesome), Durga couldn't win and created Kali "The black one" to drink his blood, which was making an army, and finally win.

Now, Durga's a black frame, which eats his enemies (an army, so it's like drinkig the blood of Raktabija)... Do we really still have Durga, or did it change into something else during Anna's fights? 'cause Durga's apparently the goddess of creation, preservation and anihilation, while Kali is more on the whole slaughter side of things (and motherly love, which totally fits with our core's messages to us).

So, the last purview of Durga fits us, but the first two don't really seem to fit now (though it was when we were protecting and building the village), so... yeah, I actually don't know where I'm going with this, but it was an interesting bit of trivia, right?

Sorry if it was already said before.

Is it a game of Simcity, though? Or is there a chance of it winding up closer to Dwarf Fortress?

"Look, just go down the hall into the classroom, it's not that difficult."
"No, I can't make those ridiculous cannons of yours, I haven't got any materials for it or anything that it can be built in."
"No don't do tha- ah geeze. Someone go fix the simulators... Again..."

That last one would probably be used in regards to Anna more than a little bit.

It was, but this is more detailed than when I did it. If people want to explain this, your post is better than the conversation that happened earlier.

Nah, its cool.

But basically, what would happen if we liken the trivia you got with Anna is that, Anna as well as Durga initially was a builder and protector.(Repairing telephone poles, then took arms to protect her village.)

However as longer and longer battles continues, desperation, determination and sheer will, Anna and Durga slowly created or turned their frame to Kali, so to speak.(Durga took AG parts, cannibalized whatever it provided, became more and more efficient at killing/sensing etcetc.). Hence the more brutal weapons and insane skills that Anna was forced to polish which is the Kali side.

Of course, the tragic tale is that, in becoming a destroyer, she achieved her goals in killing the AG but was still unable to protect her village.

Is it bad that I liked the game analogies more/they made better sense to me?

Sandra and Anna with whacky hijinks! We obviously need this.

There is a lengthy pause and you begin to think that Sandra had signed off from the conversation at your reassurance, when another message comes in.

>>"That is good news, Anna. I will see you in class then."

Ouch. Sandra, as the social-specced character she is, probably took the right impression from this - Anna is physically okay, and her emotional/mental damage level is severe, but not getting worse at a level that requires immediate intervention. Hm. Sandra approaching one of the instructors about Anna's issues could make for a good omake... (Or a doctor, given she was near the Medical Bay.)

"No morning food fights in the cafeteria please."
So, is there an appropriate/scheduled time for food fights in the cafeteria? :D

"As you all know, at the heart every Arcology is a Valkyrie Core. Some Arcologies, such as Perth, are singular Valkyrie frames, the largest and most massive Valkyrie systems in existence.
Heh, now I'm imagining the weapons systems Perth has... In case of an attack, do Perth and PVA split tasks, like sensors/weapons, or something like that?

Ok, so if this was an actual anime that I was writing, I think this is the point I would have a particular episode type. I would start it with something akin to this.

Anna, to Sandra: Shuri asked if I was here to make friends. After some consideration, I have decided that, yes, this is the case. However, I find myself at a loss in social situations. I would like your help in rectifying this deficiency.

This would set the tone of the episode as a familiar kind of wacky hijinx filler with Sandra trying to coach the akward Anna through social interaction. It's familiar and you can just kind of see the whole thing coming in your mind's eye. Training, comedic misunderstandings, Coke-zero being used as a practice dummy (in drag, for some reason), Anna messing up and despairing, Sandra comforting her and we all learn a big sweet message.

Or, if the management would let me get away with it, I'd throw a curve in there to mess with expectations. Probably at the Sandra comforts Anna point, having her run face first into the giant wall of PTSD Anna has managed to keep mostly under wraps. Finding out that there is something truly wrong with Anna, not just general kuudere shyness, would go a long way to hinting at her tragic backstory. It would also be a nice little Madoka style swerve but I love Madoka a little more than it probably deserves, so ignore that as a bonus.

So, long story short, anyone want to try and write in a vote to the effect of "Ask Sandra to teach you how to make friends"? You know, in a way that isn't actively terrible the way I would end up making it.
Sandra says something like, 'You're awkward, but the way you try to protect everyone is cute.'
Anna: Intentions mean nothing.
Sandra: You're like Shuri th- what?
Anna: Man offers innumerable prayers to heaven. Heaven replies with nothing but death to recompense man. Kill. Kill. Kill-
Sandra: Um...
Durga /Anna shutdown: Thank you for your assistance, Cadet Aleksandra. It was invaluable. Nothing is amiss. We will go to lunch now. Eat. Interact with peers. Do normal things.
Durga /exit stage right
Sandra: What the fuck.

Sandra: Everytime I think I can start understanding Anna she does something like this. Sigh...
Sandra: I wonder if I can use this to my advantage...?
Sandra: MWAHAHAHHAHHAHAA

And then this was the Anime about Sandra taking over the universe.

This. This thing. We should do this. It's pretty much guaranteed to get us screen-time and is likely to be highly entertaining.

Hilarious social hijinks combined with a sudden DRAMATIC PTSD REVEAL TWIST! sounds like good combination. I approve.
