You notice Yukari sit back slightly and her pupils contracting. She doesn't seem to like the idea of this scenario.
Sandra notices too. She seamlessly switches to another scenario, "Or rather, it may be more suitable for us to try-"

"No. Let's try Single Sweep." Yukari interjects, frowning down at the datapad.
Hm, that can't be good.

"That's the last part of the Alaskan Offensive and the Great Battle right? It's something I really want to see in the simulators-"

Sandra throws an uncharacteristically cold look at Koujirou.
"… Let's do Single Sweep," Yukari repeats quietly, almost to herself.
Now that certainly can't be good.

Well uh…

Um, a distraction!

"Sandra, as there are two Aces in the flight now, should we hold back further, or should we use everything, then see after this scenario?" you ask.
Nice save, Anna, it's good that we can always count on you.

[I want high eyes for Sekhmet, where is that fucker?]
Where indeed

Strange, these messages felt… You take a moment to push the parts of your mind listening in to the comm chatter into the background, focusing on passively sweeping your surroundings.
Ruh roh.

>>UNNECOM to all: Saskatoon Breach has been destroyed. Antagonist forces pulling back from all northern sectors and shifting south. All reserves prepare for immediate advance on Los Angeles Breach.

The message felt… familiar.
More messages, still familiar.

[Holy shit, we found Type Zero Sekhmet!]
That's definitely not good.

"Anna-"

"Sandra wait. Stay away from her."

-No one was saved, and to their graves, perished and dead. All on my head.-
"Anna c'mon, we gotta hurry to make the nav marker times."

Hurry?

You were late.

-You're late-
That's bad. That's bad news bears.

-Don't look back honey. I love you-
"Anna…-"

"In position. Proceed."

You pull in with the rest of the flight, mute your comm channels, and you scream and scream and scream and scream and scream and scream and scream.

"Choosing this scenario was a mistake."

Shuri did not mince words when she opened a private channel to Sandra.

"It was," Sandra responded regretfully.
The voters are the real Antagonists. :lol

Shuri sighed softly, her exasperation clear, "You want to inspire her by showing off? Sandra, I doubt-"

"No Shuri, we demonstrate to Anna how much of a difference we can make, that she can make, with this scenario."

"You think she can ignore what happened and see what is happening here and now instead?"

"I believe so. This was what we planned anyway, so we just need to, um, need to… pound it in?"
Her heart's in the right place, too bad the scenario isn't.

Yukari looked solemnly over the landscape.

Black oceans. Burning clouds. The red glow of the false dawn on the horizon.

Exactly as she remembered.

All but real.

"Everyone, I'm finally here…"
Aw. D:

What the actual hell was Anna doing?

Anna's frame was faintly glowing, its underlayers distorted and warped, flowing out from under the black plates and enveloping the destroyed Type Five. The whole frame was pulsing, its surface rippling as if it was an... organ... Guts.

It was like… it was like Anna was trying to eat the Type Five.
To live is to devour others. Eat.

Includes non-flashback questionaire breakfast interaction, so that's good.

Thank you, it wasn't easy but we did it. I'd like to say that I did most of the work for frequently adding random topics to get us through that last dark period. Truthfully however we must all thank @Kaizuki for his omakes which carried the intrest as well as everyone who touched on plot points such as: Anna does not go to the toilet, Anna is shrinking, the eleventh hour Durga/Kail discovery as well as all the others we don't have time to mention.
I hate to ask you this, but do you know where i could find the Durga/Kali discussions, or where it shows Anna is shrinking? I would try and find them, but there's literally 100 pages of thread between the last two story updates and I have no idea where to start looking.

The search function is pretty good when you know what you're looking for, you know. Like, searching 'Kali' and 'shrinking' within this thread gets you what you want pretty easily.

Finally reached the end of my binge, we may have made a few mistakes but lets power on through for the love of our Waifu....

This is... I think the first time that the Search function has ever actually worked properly on any forum I've used. I just got so accustomed to them being useless that I didn't even bother here.

Thanks for the heads up.

Uh guys, Anna might have actually increased UN casualties by taking down Saskatoon, I sincerely hope Anna doesn't realize that cause then the trauma train would come to town.

One could also make the claim that defeating Germany in WWII allowed Russia to pose a greater threat in the coming years, but that would be focusing on only the absolute worst of the situation.
Anna proved that people could close breaches and is a symbol of hope for Humanity, not counting the fact that less Antagonists can 'cross' to Earth in addition to the future casualties prevented due to destroying the Antagonists at the breach, let alone the Type-Zero itself.

If Humanities' Armies are operating off the 'Great Man' viewpoint, Anna is the greatest of them all.

Yes but someone who has pretty much dehumanized herself to into a weapon who failed to protect others wouldn't see that, merely that she failed even more people. Anna is so convinced of her own failings she doesn't see what a big deal she is, she was surprised with the respect the instructors gave her after all.

LOLNO Meyer and Leonhart specifically said that without Anna the UN casualties would have been orders of magnitude higher.

Fair enough, but Anna is convinced that she failed at what was effectively her purpose in life, she's going to be a lot more willing to assume negative consequences from her actions as opposed to positive. And that transmission did not really convey the fall of the Saskatoon Breach in a positive light.

Okay, so it looks like I flubbed my vote for the instructor's lounge- though it was still counted by hand so that's something. If I wanted to change or update my vote, do I do that in a new post, or would I have to find and edit my old one?

It's a good thing Durga has suppressed/erased that segment then, maybe even more so than the recent events themselves.

Yes. (Either is good.)

Yes. (Either is good.)
Thanks! :)

On a different note- this has probably come up before, but... Durga...

How can I put this.

Actions happen that Anna doesn't appear to initiate. We ascribe the actions to Durga. There's been some implication that Anna can talk to or communicate with Durga sometimes.

However, we've tried, briefly, to talk to other frames. They don't appear to talk back. This might be worth trying again a few times.

Because what I'm wondering is... is Durga actually doing things, or is this more like Anna operating in a fugue state? Given her history, a fugue state seems faaaiiiiiirly likely. Doing things without remembering them. Wanting to not remember things. Metric assloads of PTSD. Splitting herself into a sort of semi-split-personality and calling her counterpart Durga, after her frame, seems like something that could plausibly happen.

And if nobody else's frame is sentient? I'm thinking we may be just a touch more broken than we think we are.

Yes it does? The transmission tells us that 1. Sasakatoon Breach has been destroyed, motherfuckers 2. Antagonist forces are in full retreat along the entire northern front 3. with the northern flank secure up to the Great Lakes, the UN no longer needs to hold forces in reserve to defend against the threat of counter-attacks and 4. Los Angeles Breach is vulnerable so they have a once-in-a-lifetime shot at taking back the entire West Coast. I don't really understand what you're talking about. There's nothing that's not positive in that transmission.

I'm of the opinion that Durga is what I have dubbed a 'subordinate personality.' Meaning that, while Durga does sort-of mostly exist as an entity, it/she will only act on behalf of, and with implicit permission from, the Anna personality. Kind of like adding a new hard-drive to your computer, in that while there is now additional memory to do stuff with, it is always going to be subordinate to the existing OS.

Most Valk Frames presumably don't develop even this much of a personality, because they lack the structure that being synced with an active mind 24/7 would give. My theory: Valk Cores only produce a personality as an extension of their users personality, and will remain obedient to that user until their dying breath.

Of course, it is very likely that Kandakara, Koujirous's frame (and I had to look up both of their names), has a fully expressed personality that is currently subordinate to NO-ONE. If it is one of the 300, then it's likely that the others have similar personalities.
