And What a Dance it Was (NO SV, War is Coming, Prepare)

After Birth
After Birth:

Aemma:D100 + 30 => 33

Melios:D100 => 1

Visanya:D100 => 18+30=48

The birth was not going well as Aemma was continuously given milk of the poppy as Viserys looked at Melios. "What is wrong with her!?"

And it was clear that Visanya, the woman he had entrusted with the care for his wife, was gone.

And he could see that Melios was entirely competent. "What is wrong with my wife?"

Melios traded a glance at his assistants and the wet nurses. "The babe is trapped in the womb."

"Trapped?" Viserys felt his anger growing with each word. "Explain!"

Melios nodded. "The Child's head is not facing out like normal, but on its side, its backside facing outward. That means it is extremely difficult for the baby to come out of her womb."

"So what can we do?!" Viserys asked. "Why was she not assisted? Where is Visanya! Where is she!"

"There is nothing Visanya can do!" Melios said though he raised his voice. "And her continued presence will only cause a delay in saving the baby."

"What about my wife, what can we do to save her!?" Viserys demanded.

"We cannot save her!" Melios was clear in his tone, as he spoke firmly.

Viserys paused. "I killed her." He whispered.

He walked over to his screaming wife and held her hand. "Aemma, I am… Sorry."

"Don't be…" Those were the words he wanted to hear from her screams, but all he could see was her pain and agony.

Yet for a brief moment, there was silence, as squeezed his hand. "Don't leave me." She asked. "Don't leave me alone."

And Viserys held onto her hand. Held onto the last beautiful thing in his life. "Never." He said.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Aemma expired. No miracle was expected.

Baelon Survival:D100 + 30 => 130

Yet out of her womb, came a cry, as with her final strength…

Aemma Arryn… Aemma Targaryen gave the Realm the one thing he desired most.

A Child.

A Son.

King Viserys Reaction:D100 => 100

And all Viserys could do was weep.

AN: Melios fucked up and killed the queen.

But hey, at least Baelon survived, and nothing about this birth will cause Baelon to be fucked up in the head.

This… is a mild improvement. I know, I know, but having little Baelon survive means that Viserys has an heir and the succession remains unquestioned, for now, the course of action we must take it seems is to ensure that Baelon survives The Dance and not succumb to typical Targaryen blood madness.

...I'm not saying I'm going to be rolling for how well Baelon Adjusts, considering all that's going against him... both politically and mentally...

But I am.

And that does not mean he will grow up to be a good man or even a good king.

Or worse.

Well Viserys lost his wife but he got the heir and son he has always wanted. A unquestionably heir in Baelon. Now the game to influence the new heir has begun. Lucien, Daemon, Rhaenyra, Hightowers, Velaryons and many others.

With some bad luck, he'll turn out to be a cruel Tyrant or a Puppet controlled by our Enemies and then we have to start the Dance to save the Realm or something like that.

Can we kill Maester Maelios, seriously what the hell?
If he engineered this deliberately, then yes.

If not, then we'll have to settle for firing*/exiling him in disgrace.

*No, sadly, not THAT kind of firing...

@Magoose but what happened with mom? Where was she?
She was ordered out by Melios, the Grand MAester, and was basically forced into house arrest while the birthing was going on.
And why was Melos in the room?
He's Grand Maester. Technically, he is the foremost medical mind in Red Keep.
I'd imagine she was sent out because she wasn't "qualified" to help the Queen in her dire need. There is the danger that Visenya being sent away by Melos will come back to bite her. Conspirators can frame her for purposely trying to poison the queen.
All I will say is that Viserys won't kill her.

Especially when he knows Melios is lying out of his ass. and let his wife die.

Who said we need to kill him.

Viserys is pissed at him.

Well if he rolls bad enough, I have a few interesting people to base him off of.

Louise the Mad, Henry the 8th...

and of course,... who was that one shitty genocidal dude in Africa that wanted to make money by murdering the natives... Cecil Rhodes I think it was?

There is the possibility he becomes a decent king. But that won't stop people from being ambitious. For example Rhaenyra could feel like she should have the throne even if her younger brother is Decent.

All i shall say, is that depending on how the Stepstones goes, Otto might see a reason for another to be crowned.

Eh, in that case, we should be able to talk her out of it. I don't want to fight our Wife.

Who is-

Oh, wait...that's the Motherf*cker Rhodesia was named after, isn't he?

That's the one.

Hey, when I say, use as a base, I mean being an exploitive autocrat that is only interested in acquiring wealth... by exploiting the people under him by using very bad tactics to keep them suppressed docile and preventing them from rebelling.

That itself is not a horrible thing in an autocrat, especially over westeros.

But it is a horrible thing, especially after a ruler as well-liked and as popular, and compatent as Viserys.

Remember, as long as he's not constantly at war with other powers that see his lands destroyed, he might even be seen as a good thing by the nobility of Westeros if he plays his cards right.

Problem is... How will he spend that money?

Will he save it, and leave it to his successors?

Or will he use it like bobby B did?

and will he be pragmatic...
---------------------------

That is not even the worst case senario.

After all, a second Maegor is not going to be a good thing.

because genocidal maniacs with dragons tend to cause problems.

But yeah a new game is on. Luckily Lucien has gathered a good amount of influence over the years through friendship, family, marriage and hard work. Oh and his dragon Greyghost along with his siblings dragons.

Baelon being like Henry the eighth....I can see it. Early in his life he is loved and everyone thinking he'll be a great King. Later in life is when people start to question it.
