Personally, I have no preference either way, but I'd like to have Mantarys in the next year or so after we consolidate our gains. Considering that 50 years in game would probably be around 10 years IRL and at that point, we should be so far in the epic levels that we shouldn't be worrying about Plantos at all.
Also, I've never really understood the "but our PR" argument. Our PR is shit, its pretty much always been shit (eating babies remember) and will probably continue to be shit considering the reawakening of magic and our plans to expand. Having bad PR in other states is pretty much unavoidable, just look at the animosity between certain countries today. So why fight it?
From a larger point of view, it really doesn't matter what the peasants from other cities think of us, because their first priority is not who rules but where their next meal comes from. Personally, I hold the view that we will do what is necessary and let the others talk, they'll eat their words when the Empire raises.

I wouldn't disagree, but when we get round to conquering Astapor, wouldn't their entire culture be guilty of at least as bad as this character, even if it hasn't spawned Fey abominations? I'm not arguing against anything here, just saying I wouldn't mind if it were used as precedent for later confirmed atrocities.
