Make it five. These are Outsiders and long-lived species. Five years are nothing to them.

That's a long time to hire on with a mysterious employer. We might not even want them for that long.

Also, a longer contract necessitates a larger signing bonus. We can probably afford it, but crafters of a useful level shouldn't be cheap to begin with. What about an initial period of three years instead?

Sounds reasonable. I think a year is simply rather short to get good use out of them, especially since it would put the end of their employment somewhere in the conquest of Westeros or the house-cleaning afterwards.

You suppose you should be flattered that they are willing to not just tolerate your own actions in that vein but actively aid them, or perhaps it has more to do with the vices of Essosi magisters than your virtues. Regardless, you have no interest to rock the proverbial boat of your alliance more than it needs to be at least.
Eh, i simply did not find the lecture that egregious. Which is on me because a LOT of other people really did not like it.

still

I think getting heaven (and Yrael's) support is doable, and I will push for it.
Edit: I still plan on voting for you "Dude Where's My Respect?" vote if your planning one Azel.

I have heard a lot of people express a ton of anger and hatred towards Yrael. As well as several people stating a wish to kill him.

This is concerning to me for several reasons.

Edit: Not a willingness to kill him should he be a problem

A desire to kill him. To the point of wishing that he would become a problem.
Yeah. No. I'm mostly angry because he has made himself a problem. I have no interest in squabbling with the sanctimonious bastard. I was quite happy to ignore him right back as he sat in Mantarys and did nothing, though the lack of some recognition for saving his sorry hide from Baator and the whole region from the Abyss was pretty rankling.

But his latest actions mean we need a permanent solution for our relationship. The current setup isn't working. That doesn't mean necessarily killing him, but if we don't air our respective grievances, the situation will explode within the year.
I would like to remind you that I only try to murder people if it is advantageous for us.

As I've said, fine by me if we can pull it off. But we need a clear line in the sand and I prefer having them as known enemies then as unreliable allies.

Archons tend to be the opposite of unreliable. Even to their detriment.

So much so that it is one of the easiest ways to make them fall.

ah, are we whining about the archons again? twice in one month, a new record

But that's the issue. We have no clear idea what Yrael considers his duty. It might be compatible with our plans, in which case we just need to lay out our long-term plans for the plane and can get his loyalty and full support.

Or he considers us vile and evil for even thinking about building the Imperium, in which case he will oppose us until he draws his last breath.

There is very, very little in between.

He did say goodbye as was proper. I was just a little overwhelmed by events happening simultaniously at the time and did not think to note it IC
Can you tell us whether Viserys IC think Yraels warning about conquest, was a sign that he disapproved of us keeping Tyrosh, or simply a warning that we should not begin to conquer for conquests sake?

Also, TBH, with DP's portrayal of Outsiders thus far I feel that I agree with some of the sentiments here that there is more nuance and plurality of choices to his decision making. Explicitly, I can see him disapproving of our methods but in agreement with our goals. The terminus of this state of affairs rests where most others lie.

So long as the good we do exceeds the harm and we are open to advice as with all our close allies, I think he would care more about being able to effect how much and what good we do, as opposed to being shut out completely.

Preliminary plan. Thoughts?

[X] Plan People Loot, Again
-[X] Briefly exit the Pendulum of Fate to prepare.
--[X] After renewing his social spells (Voice of the Dragon & Air of Nobility), if necessary, Viserys casts Ancestral Awakening to learn the Aura Sight and Dragoneye Rune spells, then uses Blood Wish to cast Greater Magic Aura on himself to hide the aura of all spells affecting him. He then uses his Greater Ribbon of Disguise to hide his glowing eyes caused by the Greater Magic Aura spell.
-[X] Once prepared, return to the Pendulum and seek out those willing to enter into a service contract of at least three years with an employer who cannot tell them where they will be living and working during that time until further arrangements have been made, though doing so should take no more than three to four weeks. Although we cannot reveal the location to them quite yet, we can promise that it will be an interesting change from their normal environments and that there will be plenty of opportunity for them to make the most of their skills, whether that means enchanting gear or slaying monsters.
--[X] Use Aura Sight to determine the Alignment of all prospective hires. Those with Neutral Evil, Chaotic Evil, or Chaotic Neutral Alignments will not be approached or offered a position, nor will any qualifying Efreeti, Marid, or other enemy species of Outsider.
--[X] While priority is placed on mages capable of crafting enchanted items, any willing mage, or even skilled non-spellcasters will be considered for employment. Comfortable accommodations for those who might wish to bring their families can easily be arranged.
--[X] Anyone who accepts the term of employment will be asked to allow us to place a Dragoneye Rune on them so that when the time comes to retrieve them we can easily and painlessly verify their identity. The rune will be removed once they have been settled into their new homes.
--[X] Ask Embra, using the full weight of her family name of the feels it appropriate, to vouch for our sincerity and trustworthiness should any potential hires prove concerned about our motives or the secrecy we are maintaining.

I fully think that the Archons would be pragmatic enough to simply join the Imperium to hopefully get more LG influence in our realm as advisors at least.

Yrael knows that we can crush him. He won't make a last stand to fight us when there is the alternative of simply joining us as a Good influence

[X] Plan People Loot, Again

Racial and alignment discrimination is bad.

I mean just in general. Naughty spider fish.

You should also vet them with divination because that's aa good strategy.

Don't use embras house name. They do not like us that much. Which is to say. Let her vouch for us so she can absorb the fflak.

Edit:

@DocMatoi I brought it up this time, I wanted some clarification going forward.

Bit your right. Bring it up in the diplomancing vote.
Eh, I'm entirely neutral on the issue.

Having Archons in our service would be nice, especially if we can send them together with our Eryine, but on the other hand fighting good Outsiders is a rare opportunity I would also enjoy.
So I'm out for that vote, most likely.

That's exactly what the Archns on the road to Mantarys were willing to do though.
They were under orders from what they thought were Yrael, Yrael don't have contact with any of his superiors, so he's not under any orders, if he get contact with Heaven, and they order him to oppose us he absolutely will do so, but at the moment he's the highest Celestial Authority on the PoB, which mean he gives the orders he don't take them, Archon's are fanatical about orders, which is why the Archons on the road to Mantarys were willing to do that, Yrael however are under no orders, and so make his decisions himself, which mean he can be convinced to change his mind, because making decisions is actually his responsibility at the moment.
