No, it would be 4th year. Viserys in Red Dragon form would have been taking a nap in a nice mountain lair while trying to figure out how the hell to get back to Planetos, when the next thing he knows, he wakes up in an arena full of snot-nosed children, laying on a pile of odd-looking eggs. Hilarity ensues.

So he uses telekinesis to ward away all the contenders, all while riddling them/the crowd for information. And everyone but the judges thinks it's part of the test.

Seriously though, I think an awesome crossover would be to insert Ser Richard into canon ASOIAF just when Ser Darry dies. Sure, he's this uberknight with magical gizmos and weapons that could take on the whole Kingsguard and live to tell the tale, but he's still in a world of painfully low magic with an infant liege who has no magic + his little sister. What would he do I wonder?
Now THAT would be all kinds of fun.

Ser Richard would be an awesome guardian for the baby Targs.

But then you are subjecting Richard to Canon!Viserys, or one that will be hard to remove from the path that he took. Have some compassion. :p

I hate that phrase.

"It is known? Oh, do you fucking know the same basic cultural knowledge that supports the continuation of the shitty parts of this shitheap? Good for you, good for you. Let's see you know stuff now with a sword having replace an important portion of your brain, you fucking mindless sheeple"

I mean, I generally hate the word "sheeple", but it applies to anyone that uses "common knowledge" in place of actual... reason or logic. OR AS FUCKING JUSTIFICATION FOR AN OPPOSING STANCE IN AN ARGUMENT. [/rant]

Edit: I think it was one too many repetitions of that bullshit line that made me stop watching GoT

edit edit: Btw, my vitriol is in no way directed at you, but that handmaiden/slave woman who went after Daenerys and told her common knowledge of the local culture in the most fucking patronising way possible.

Fortunately, the Wizard government and community is so fucking bonkers that I'm pretty sure Viserys would peg them for corrupt incompetent idiots from the first newspaper he picks up with little trouble.

So if he did run across Sirius, he probably wouldn't hand him over without question, no.

There would be many questions. But after those questions, it would basically end in a spree of scry and dying so many people. It's not even funny how much dirt Sirius would be able to dig up for him for frying efforts. Those two could probably buddy cop the entire Harry Potter plot in one school year. Less than a school year, he could probably resolve it before the first semester, and then rebalance the Black family finances and arrange for Harry's adoption by cutting through all the legal red tape.

...I kinda had some idle fantasies of Viserys burning away the entirety of Arthas' army at the Ice Crown Citadel.

Ans of him throwing a few Maximised Searing Anagonising Firedarts in Ragnaros's face, until he's dead.
Screw those druids bringing the firelord down with nature and ice, pfeh!
Fire is best fought with fire!

Of Vee kicking names and taking ass in Emerald Nightmare. Or going to that Gurabashi dungeon and riding out on that kilometres-long easter-egg snake

Of Lya leaving Malygos literally gaping. And generally being Lya.

Of Richard... Being Richard.
He's basically what a 110 warriors are in Warcraft now, so stubborn and stronk that reality will sometime bend to their will.

Of Garin out-assassinating the Uncrowned.

Etc etc etc.
...As you can guess, I've been listening to a lot of Warcraft OSTs lately, yes.

I'd be subjecting him to six-year-old!Viserys, big difference. Viserys went insane in canon because he had to take care of Dany by himself on the streets, was persistently mocked by those in power and labeled the Beggar King, etc. And this is on top of being cast out of his home and losing most of his family in a brutal civil war.

Ser Richard being there to take charge right away during the formative years would without a doubt make Viserys a far better king.

I thought Darry dies when Viserys was 13, like in this game? And the rebellion happened when he was eight (I think)?

Even at thirteen Viserys wasn't that bad. Most of the insanity we see in canon happens due to events following Darry's death. Ser Richard swooping in at that exact moment would be a literal godsend.

Ser Richard would basically give him the school of hard knocks... and then quote from the big book of Viserys for some Pick-Me-Ups. "If you knock a man down, and they admit they're wrong, you don't mock him as he's on the ground. You pick him back up."

And other soliloquys as he tries to teach Viserys to be better.

I think, out of anything, the consistent and ironclad belief that Viserys could be great, tempered with reality checks Richard is known for here, would actually turn him into a real contender.

Basically this.

Not to mention the fact that there's Oathkeeper -- a sentient Valyrian Steel blade that the other Viserys awoke with his own blood. I would not be surprised if they managed to get a spark of magic started in canon!Viserys from that connection.

OH! Yeah, when we summon some phoenixes can we please replace light with mending on the baby mages spell list? Long overdue, much more useful spell, and with phoenixes, all scholarium students get a light ring or amulet of their choice after a week or two (as it is a glowing rock in a small container on a ring or necklace, I don't see it taking up any item slots.)

Part MMCXXVIII: Tales in Silver Spun
Tales in Silver Spun

Seventeenth Day of the Third Month 293 AC

The deal is thus agreed upon, as much as words can hold, and for a gesture of goodwill the Sealord promises to deliver one dragon egg today, the second once Pentos has fallen, and the third upon the yet distant day when your alliance shall grow closer still. It is only once you and Lya leave the palace that you notice how changed the light filtering through the mists is...

"Afternoon already?" you ask, startled, half to yourself.

"So now you realize what it's like, eh?" Lya asks archly. "It seems you can get as distracted by matters of kingship as easily as I can studying sorcery."

"We missed lunch..." you trail off apologetically.

"Neither of us needs to eat," she reminds you. Then guessing the true direction of your thoughts from your expression she adds, "I am quite secure in your affections even if you do not conjure a candle-lit meal at every opportunity. I'm just happy to be home again for a bit."

"Is it still?" you ask, a touch saddened by the news. A part of you wants Lya's home to simply be 'with you', for all you know childhood's memories do not lightly loosen their grip upon the heart.

"It's not just the mists or the sound of water in the canals," she replies thoughtfully as the two of you step into the serpent boat some attentive footman had ran ahead to summon. "I realized back there that I probably have more in common with the Sealord himself than I would with say a Westerosi scholar, if one could even find a female scholar in the Sunset Lands."

"There will be if I have anything to do about it," you say with a smile. "I usually do these days."

Lya giggles at the obvious understatement. "Do you think the Sealord approves of me being a Braavosi influence?"

"Perhaps..." You mime a dramatic revelation before adding in a whisper, "Should I let you handle the city when the time comes?"

"I'd make help and hand it off," she answers instantly.

At the Wind House you are greeted by Alysande, her features still shrouded by glamour that hides the truth of her rebirth, but her smile no less genuine for it. "We received news from the palace to expect you." From her slightly breathless tone and the water dancer's sword still at her belt you guess she must have been sparring while she waited. A closer look at the blade reveals runes writ upon it like moonlight on clear water... fey work if ever you saw it.

"How have you been dealing with the Orphne?" you ask as soon as the three of you were ensconced in the familiar chairs in front of the fire.

"It's getting easier, never easy you understand, but we have all gotten each other's measure, the price in blood and tears well paid," she replies, expression growing more solemn at the memories.

"Whose blood?" you ask worried, not only for her but for the city entire.

"On our side, mostly those who made thoughtless bargains, thinking the deathless courts of faerie no different from hedge mages plying their trade, on theirs, spirits who believed Braavosi law less binding than theirs for being scribed by merely mortal hands." She taps the pommel of her blade meaningfully. "Just last month the Shadow King finally agreed that agreements with his court will only be binding when the mortals are of sound mind."

"How long did defining that take you?" Lya inquires curiously.

"Me personally, no time at all. We have solicitors on retainer to handle such things," Alysande explains. "I've found that sort of compartmentalization and distance between the person negotiating and the minds that actually conceive the document under discussion helps blunt the fey's ability to sway an agreement in their favor."

"And when that does not work..." you trail off.

"You would be surprised how many of them have less sense than a bravo when it comes to picking their fights," she replies confidently. How different she seems from the determined but terrified young woman who woke from a fel enchantment in the marsh years ago.

"How would you feel about another benevolent power to help you keep the balance?" you ask, before launching into a description of the Old Gods, their strictures and their boons, including the Heart Trees you have already grown.

"Is there a way I could converse directly with these Dreamers?" Alysande asks tentatively. "I trust you as I do few others, but we've had almost uniformly poor experience with sacrificial magic, so most of my subordinates will look in askance at it being performed inside the wards. It would be far easier to calm them if I had word directly from the horse's, or in this case the tree's mouth."

What do you reply?

Blah, two whole days???

@DragonParadox, what about poaching Soft Strider or a Leshy to let Alysande talk to them instead? Normally I'd be perfectly willing to indulge the request, but two entire days spent on this when we only have a few in Braavos isn't the best deal.

Alternatively, could we set her up by the Philosopher's Tree and just leave her to talk to Bloodraven while we run around in Braavos? And why does this have to take two entire days? How many questions does Alysande have?

Because you have to be able to make a connection. On the other hand yes Soft Strider could do it, but isn't she going North?

"Class, today I'm going to teach you about something special. The Roots, the Gullet and the Sea."

"Professor!"

"Yes, Miss Granger."

"Could you please elaborate on that? That's not in any of our material."

*fondly* "Not everything in a book will foretell what is to come, my young pupil."

*irritated* "Divination isn't a real subject, Professor."

"I beg to differ. It's how I structure my schedule after all. Also, temporal manipulation to fit in an elective you don't even fully appreciate is admirable, but your dedication isn't going far enough. See me after class for remedial lessons."
*later*
"...I've just been informed I'm not allowed to give any more remedial lessons."

"Why, Professor?"

"Nearly burned down the tower. Oh, don't give me that look... I was teaching them how to brew Alchemist's Fire."

"You what?!"

"Well they wanted me to teach them about wildfire, but I thought they could use some background knowledge first..."

"That's grossly irresponsible!"

"I know! That's why I started with basic alchemy first. These regulators... they don't know real magic. You know, I was self-taught?"

"That... explains so much, Professor."

Because you have to be able to make a connection. On the other hand yes Soft Striider could do it, but isn't she going North?
Nope. Soft Strider wasn't going North. We could definitely add her in instead of Argo if you recommend it.

But even with that in mind, didn't you decide the trip to the North would happen on the Nineteenth since Maelor is running around with Glyra?

Main Plan and Crafting looks good, no current objection to using the B-Party for Catacombs and then the lowest-level northern adventure, Azel has a final-looking plan for Fleet-deployment, construction-work and business building and Duesal has a list of minor actions and Speak with Dead questions.

Anything else we need?

[X] The Doorstoppening X, Revenge of the Schedule
-[X] Turn Schedule
-[X] Crafting Schedule
-[X] Troop and Fleet Deployment, Lyre-construction order and business-founding
-[X] Minor actions and SPW-questions
-[X] Valaena, Bronn, Argo and Mercy help with Rathunt, then on the 16th come with us to the Wall when we meet Stark to go ranging with the Watch and deal with the Hunters upon the Frozen Shores encounter following Brynden's map
-[X] Rina helps with the Rathunt too, then goes crafting and on the 16th joins us in visiting Stark on the Wall before coming back home
Because you have to be able to make a connection. On the other hand yes Soft Striider could do it, but isn't she going North?
That was the vote.
I don't think the party-composition has been changed exept maybe Mercy?

@DragonParadox, since Soft Strider is currently available regardless of whether or not she tags along for the trip Beyond the Wall, wouldn't that only take a few hours of Alysande's questions instead of an entire two days to establish a connection with Bloodraven?
