Turtles of DISPAIR!

Yeah, I'm not sure how they could be stopped. Control Winds to gather them in a ball and resilient sphere could buy 15 minutes, but as I understand it, if you put them in a material container, they would just entropy their way out.

And they probably have some sort of spell drain ability like the seeker that would wear away at a permanency effect.
Put them all in a big prison cube, then shoot it into the sun, or planeshift them to the Abyss, being dementor food, is probably a marginally better fate than what happen to souls there.

I think that we probably can't harm Dementors without Bloodwish. Or without a friendly wizard capable of producing a Patronus. Coincidentally, Viserys is really good at gathering allies...
And worst case he has access to a LOT of enchantment spells.

On the other hand, Dementors probably can't harm us. It's been noted that Dragons remain fighting ready despite emotions that would incapacitate lesser races, and there's no way someone can force us into a kiss if we aren't already catatonic!

Tbh, I'm not thinking of fighting one or ten or twenty, but one or two hundred. I can totally see Viserys being overwhelmed by them.

I wonder how the Sword of Gryffindor would measure up against Dark Sister.

honestly? I think Dark Sister is destroyed by the Basilisk Venom effect, but it might take a few clashes. SoG seems to be artifact tier and DS is just a sophont sword made in the blood of fiends and slaves, so a high level magic item, at best.

I don't think it'll work out that way. Basilisk Venom honestly shouldn't do that much to Valyrian Steel, and Dark Sister is actually an artifact. She's been listed right alongside the other artifacts we have whenever we have to decide what we want to sacrifice (though for obvious reasons she's never going to be picked for that).

Speaking of artifacts, we should really have a look into what to do with the Pouch of the Weeping Lady. That hasn't been used in at least half a year and should either be reassigned or given back to their temple.

I wouldn't agree to giving it back to the temple for anything short of a full-fledged cleric who we could order around.

We got that artifact fair and square.

You can probably blast dementors with Orb of Force.

There's no entropy-ing your way out of Conjured Force.

What if it just... bounces off? :p

And Tyene does not seem to be getting much use from the Pouch, yeah. Hmmm.

Still, with 30 charges every three months, these are pretty cool:

Empower any Conjuration (healing) spell: Uses one Charge/spell level
Give any Conjuration (healing) spell the Reach quality: Uses two Charges/spell level
Maximize any Conjuration (healing) spell: Uses three Charges/spell level

Part MMCXXIX: Seeker's Ward
Seeker's Ward

Seventeenth Day of the Third Month 293 AC

"Would it help if I talked to them?" you ask after a moment. Between giving another speech and facilitating communion with the Old Gods, the first is likely safer and certainly swifter.

"Give your reputation almost certainly," Alysande replies easily.

"Reputation?" Lya probes, frowning just a little, as though expecting the sorts of wild rumors that fly so easily through dockside taverns.

"Most of the mages of the Silver Eye remember Lord Drekelis, and some of them even go back far enough to recall those first training classes you and your friends taught on arcane perils," the sorceress answers. "They... we were understandably curious as to your deeds in the early days and the truth was rather impressive, not only in the sorts of horrors you fought, but from the fact that you did so with little coin and practically no training."

The words are heady like sweet wine, and just as wine they must be tempered. "We made our share of mistakes, and had quite a bit of luck to carry us through," you shrug.

"We know quite a lot about luck from dealing with the fey for as long as we had. No one stays alive for long counting on the bones to fall right side up every time," she counters.

For a brief moment companionable silence falls, filled only with the crackling of the fire until Lya ends it with a question: "Have you had a chance to learn more of fey magic? I confess I have not had as much time as I might have wished to study that particular form of primal sorcery. Most of my studies were focused on soul lore..."

There are not many who would smile with bright interest on hearing such words, but to her credit Alysande Redsail is among them. "Obviously we must be very careful in what we ask of the Shadow Fey lest we become entangled in the tale of which they are begotten. However, we have indeed begun to make strides in understanding and making use of such magics."

"How so?" you ask, finding that Lya's enjoyment of the moment is infectious. Rare enough to meet a fellow student of the arcane to share lore, even more so to be certain that there is no ulterior motive to sharing what they have learned.

"Considering the danger of being struck unaware by sorcery, we bent our studies on the way in which the fey shed magic as a duck does water and have had some success in our own rituals. The process is not cheap, as the copper-counters remind me with shrill insistence, and it requires that one has achieved a certain mastery of sorcery, but it has more than proven its worth in battle," the Braavosi mage explains.

You speak a while longer of the Silver Eye's training which covers a wide range of skills, not all of them academic, though with a definite bent in the direction of esoteric lore. Alysande's eyes all but glow at the mention of the lore exchange you agreed upon with the Sealord.

Agent of the Silver Eye

Agents of the Silver Eye are much more than the Sealord's spies in matters arcane. Theirs is the eye that sees the deeper truths of the world without preconception, that looks undaunted into the depths of madness to wrest a spark of uncanny insight in a world too long blind to the Higher Arts.

Requirements

Skills:
Decipher Script 6 ranks , Disable Device 3 ranks, Knowledge (Arcana) 6 ranks

Spells: Ability to cast at least one arcane spell of 2rd level or higher.

Special: Possession of a Lens of Magecraft, which must be specially attuned to the agent during his initiation. Failure to complete the ritual causes 2d4 wisdom drain. (Cost 500 Gold)

Hit Die:

d4

Skill Points:

4 + Int

Class Features:

Weapon and Armor Proficiency
: Agents of the Silver Eye gain no proficiency with any weapon or armor.

Spells per Day: When a new Agent of the Silver Eye level is gained, the character gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in a spellcasting class he belonged to before adding the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained, except for an increased effective level of spellcasting. If a character had more than one spellcasting class before becoming an Agent of the Silver Eye, he must decide to which class he adds the new level for purposes of determining spells per day.

Argent Gaze: An Agent of the Silver Eye can use a Lens of Magecraft to decipher scrolls of higher than normal levels: up to level 2 at first level adding one spell level every 2 class levels thereafter to a maximum of level 6 at 9th level.

Lore of the Secret City: Agents of the Silver Eye are expected to have a wide knowledge base drawn from the cavernous depths of the Braavosi archives, for there are times when a chance-remembered fact marks the difference between life and death. Starting at level 2 an agent may immediately re-roll any failed knowledge check with a -4 penalty once per day. The ability may be used twice per day at level 6 and three times per day at level 10.

Shadow of Faerie: By pacts thrice spoken and oaths by blood and iron sworn, the Agent of the Silver Eye can borrow a measure of the fey's uncanny resilience to spell-craft. Beginning at level 4 the agent may choose one school of magic against which he gains Spell Resistance 15 + his agent level. He may choose another school to be guarded against at level 8, and again at level 10 (Cost 1000 Gold each).

She admits a certain interest in soul lore, though far eclipsed by that in Lya's mastery of healing and other magics which are usually the purview of 'miracle workers'. Though her organization has amiable relations with several churches which have recently received their patron's blessing, it is clear the Silver Eye would greatly prefer not being dependent on their good will for mystical healing. "If I have my way all the agents going south for training will come back healers," the sorceress vows.

"Have you not found other natural healers whose magic is born and not learned?" you ask, wondering how fortunate you must have been to happen upon Vee.

"Found certainly, gotten then to come out of the howling wilderness or learn to write so they can write scrolls for us to use, not a ghost of a chance," Alysande sighs. "One might as well call it hermit magic."

"That's not far wrong, but it can be trained," you explain, thinking back on what Velen and the Dornish discovered.

"Would you be amenable to a trade, then? This method of training for the rituals we have learned?" Seeing your surprised look she adds with a sly smile, "We had word from the Sealord that we would be working closely with your Inquisition soon enough. Better to trade away the secret soon and keep them out of the path of temptation."

@DragonParadox, this is what I've currently got for Alysande:
Alysande Redsail
Race: Human
Alignment: ???
Wizard Variant Level 7
Current Known Spells (Wizard Spells)
0th -- Acid Splash, Arcane Mark, Dancing Lights, Detect Magic, Disrupt Undead, Flare, Ghost Sound, Light, Mage Hand, Mending, Message, Open/Close, Prestidigitation, Resistance, Touch of Fatigue
1st --Charm Person, Erase, Grease, Obscuring Mist, True Strike, Alarm, Cheat, Detect Undead, Hail of Stone, Shield
2nd -- Detect Thoughts, Invisibility, Knock, Mirror Image, Fox's Cunning, Scorching Ray, Web, Rebuke, Sun Bolt
3rd -- Hold Person, Magic Circle Against Evil, Slow, Tongues, Blink, Dispel Magic, Great Thunderclap, Alter Fortune, Fireball
4th -- Black Tentacles, Fear, Resilient Sphere
And known magic items:
Greater Ribbon of Disguise, Amulet of Protection from Evil
Supernatural Servant: Liminal Sprite (Bolt)
Can we get an updated list of the spells she knows, the magic items she has, the level she's at, and then further can we get a detailed list of all the PCs under the Silver Eye's purview in the same vein that you gave us the big list of Dornish Mages? This would basically be the number of PCs, their classes and levels, what groups they've been organized into, etc.

I was hoping to update this page for the Silver Eye:

Other Institutions with Mages

She is not a variant Wizard. Her class is Wizard 3/Agent of the Silver Eye 5 (she leveled up since you saw her last). She has not however learned any more spells.

:o:o:o
She hasn't learned a single new spell?! Also, I'm eagerly waiting for her to get two more levels. Soon she shall have Teleport!

@DragonParadox, what about her magic items? She had a nifty new sword, what does that do? Is there anything else she has?
We need a custom Inquisition PrC.
Absolutely. We're going to have a hell of a class ready for Mia.

EDIT: I'm glad we forced her to stay in Sorcerer's Deep and learn spells. It seems like she's been too busy to do any proper wizarding.

@Duesal she gets level 5 spells next level.
I demand the right to pluck her from Braavos for random adventures whenever we please. She's so close to teleport, and she has none of the hangups that Teana usually has.
I'll show you in the next update once I've given them proper descriptive text. For now the character sheet only has the mechanics that I used for her fights.
@DragonParadox, two things:

1. Can she scribe her own scrolls? That's pretty important for one of the offers I'm thinking up.
2. Can we get her full charactersheet at the end of this?
