I agree with TNE we want to keep "this is our city" far away from the conversation, the fact the we are ordering to come to the abandoned quarter in the middle of the night should give them a clear idea of the new pecking order.
Remember, to us this is just doing the best out of something unexpected, to them this is the dreaded sorcerer dragon pirate King, bane of slavers and conqueror of the stepstones finally coming for them.

You forgot the part where we were already intending to make contact with her family.

I'm concerned about having to explain why we were already interested in her family. This serendipitous meeting and having her help deal with the political fallout is a less worrisome narrative than Viserys actively being interested in disgraced Lysene noble houses.

I don't want to do this, actually.

Otherwise it's fine.

Agreed. I have no interest in scraping and bowing.

Already removed the apologizing bit, made it an explanation instead. If that's too much still, I can just leave it up to Malarys and Shara.

I would much rather have Lya Teleport to SD to pass that message on, then return to Lys. That would let Dany use her Ideas to Dreamcast a Wind Walk spell on everyone Richard, Malarys, and Shara. Richard and Malarys can kill shit with the best of them, but they can be overwhelmed, especially if the enemy has some halfway decent magical support. Wind Walk would last long enough to give them an excellent escape option. It also allows them to travel to the Archon's palace more quickly, and makes a much more spectacular entrance.

Sure, that sounds useful. Though panicky people might shoot at them if they're actually flying.

Yeah, she's a great find. I think Viserys should acknowledge his luck in finding her, and I do feel House Targaryen owes her house something of a debt, since they were seemingly left to their ruin.

Maybe admitting that she seemed skilled and savvy and were already hoping to employ her if we could convince her to leave Lys, but upon finding that she's Lysene nobility and a cousin, albeit one very distant, we're only more interested. Full offer of protection and education for her entire family, as well as arranging for opportunities for her house, in addition to normal employment? We can discuss details after the messages have been delivered and the current state of high panic is reduced to medium panic as it becomes clear they don't need to run to deal with the whole tree thing.
As far as I remember the story goes that a Targaryan I don't remember who, married a woman from this family, had a child with her, and then the king of the time decided he didn't approve, dissolved the marriage and sent the woman and her child back to Lys.

So yes the Targaryan definitely owes them a debt, it's not a debt of abandonment, it's a debt of active betrayal and exile.

Edit apparently I remembered wrong, my knowledge might be about someone else or from a fanfic.

That's fine. Actually, that wouldn't be bad at all. When in Gaseous Form while Wind Walking, everyone will have DR 10/Magic, plus immunity to poison and critical hits.

They're Family. If you need another reason pick any of the dozen that was discussed in thread for the past 6 months.

Why wouldn't Viserys be interested? Family is a huge deal for him, it's an established character trait.

What @Deliste said. Viserys has a vested interest in anyone with any sort of history with the Targaryens. That's a major reason we went after the Velaryons, after all.

And as a plus, the Rogares being nobility of a Free City mean increased chances of magic for the kids. :)

[X] Admit that you were already impressed with how relatively experienced with magic she was and her general competence, and were interested in offering her employment. That she is Lysene nobility and your distant cousin as well is just both of your good fortune and the whims of fate, you suppose. You had actually given some thought to seeking out if any of the Rogares were still in Lys, but you ended up having to waste a good deal of time cleaning up other people's messes last time you were in Lys.
-[X] You'd be willing to offer her entire family your protection, promise a quality education, including in magic if they were so inclined, as well as opportunities in the future to improve her house's fortune. Oh, and your normal employment stuff, like money, supplying her with magical equipment, that sort of thing. The exact details can be settled later.
-[X] As she said, the entire city must be...alarmed, so you'd greatly appreciate her acting as your messenger to those in power. You'd be willing to send along your companions Lord Malarys and Ser Richard to both ensure her safety and attest to the veracity of her claims.
-[X] As to the message, explain the location of the meeting as that you dare not leave the tree unattended until the matter is settled, lest some fool endanger the city by trying to set fire to it or chop it down.
-[X] Have Dany use her ideas to cast Windwalk on the party and Shara, and explain the spell's abilities to Shara. Let her decide if she should fly or walk as a normal person, she is your local expert. Worst case it will be a way for her to escape and fly back to you if the locals are being truly foolish.
-[X] After they depart, have Lya and Dany teleport back to SD to inform Ser Gerold that he is to put what Legionnaires are battle ready on alert and gathered near the shadow tower and to inform Teana to make preparations for the tower to teleport if need be, before teleporting back to Lys. Have someone recontact Dany via Brazier every ten minutes in case there is more to pass on.
-[X] While Viserys is waiting, begin surveying the surrounding area in anticipation of trying to build an enclave or some sort of enclosure to help protect the new godswood here if all goes well. Idly play with the wayfinder and search for Illyrio.

Current version after edits.

Maybe we should leave the others and go instead to poke at the Fleshforge?

We're down to Viserys and Waymar at this point, if Shara takes Ser Richard and Malarys with her, since due to mishaps I don't want Lya teleporting alone. Best stay above ground near the tree until some people start coming back.

If we don't stay to moderate the events at the tree, somebody might get the wrong impression of the Leshy.

I would prefer to not sit on a throne made out of the skulls of the stupid when the Archon arrives.

Ok I think I have the beginnings of a plan.

We make a nice chair at the foot of the weirwood that is visible from the distance.
We sit on that chair.
We invite the leaders and houses of the city, and graciously inform them of their new laws.
We give them 3 days, anyone that disagrees with the new law dies, starting from the richest.
We then proceed to sit on that chair for 3 days.
On the third day we walk into the city to accept their surrender.
Now depending on if they've been nitwits or not we materialize our legions from the shadow tower the moment we stand up.

..the rest of our party will have the unenviable task of stopping the real idiots from starting to summon demons and in general making the loudest voices against surrendering vanish.
Also a shapeshifted Dany, as a huge seamonster for example, prevents ships from leaving.

(I don't really insist on the chair,.. but we have terrorizing reputation, let's use it. I want to seem them try to hit us under the tree and then imagine what will happen once we leave it.)

On the other hand I wouldn't say no to adding to our skull collection.

Decisions, decisions...

Just worth noting, if we're making her reveal her affiliation with us in anyway, we need to guarantee protection to her family.

Just associating with us makes them targets.

To be fair, our success is made from equal parts painstaking preparation for masterfully crafted plans, and being able to frantically snatch every advantage we can out of the latest chaos we got into.

The draconic love child of Baelish style and Varys style intrigue.

The world was not ready.

As for the vote... Leaving Viserys alone will... probably scare them even harder. All the racous panic, the mustering of soldiers, the frenetic scheming as they all rush for the heart tree...

To find a thoughtful Viserys, musing about either poetry or world conquest as he examines a piece of masonry beside the heart tree, a bloodied dark sister by the tree trunk and a silent, stern knight in bronze plate his only companions...

Yeah.

Being in vaguely the same area as us makes you a target. The Bitch-Clerics have proven that our enemies are perfectly fine with causing a mini-apocalypse to slow us down.

@Azel I concede the point but posit that some people are special and take precedence over the teeming masses in our general vicinity.

That's precisely why the entire family should relocate to Sorcerer's Deep.

This is precisely why the governor of any conquered Free City for at least a few years should never be someone incapable of fighting off monsters who we're truly invested in keeping alive. After a few years the more rebellious factions would be rooted out and fiend-callers hopefully extinguished. If we left a baby PC or an important NPC in charge of a Free City, it wouldn't even be a bet. We could guarantee that the local magisters who weren't already purged would have several schemes geared towards murder.

So yeah, I want to go with what @Azel suggested. Shara and her siblings set up a permanent residence in Sorcerer's Deep under our royal patronage and all the benefits it entails, including full protection. She goes out on missions, uses her contacts in Lys to our benefit, etc, and we make sure her family is safe while she does it.
What do you want with 50 Jonny Aurane skulls?

Sure, they come to us already hollowed out, but still...
For the sake of having them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Diomedon I feel as though before we leave we should seriously entertain a political alliance with Shara Rogare. She'd obviously know she'd just be a figurehead leader of our Lysene faction, but if we frame the entreaty in the right way we can come off as more of a helicopter dad instead of a opportunistic foreigner.

There is a reason I open our offer with protection for her family first. ;)

More seriously, I can strengthen that portion if you think it's not clear enough.

Crake has a point here. I'm not sure its a good idea to let the magisters know of her. In fact, the more I think about it the more terrible it is.

The plan to use her as a messenger was formed before we knew of her identity. Its just going on by inertia. The Rogares could be our ace in the hole for Lys, let the magisters wrack their brains out trying to guess which family we'll want to elevate to archonship, or plan for resisting against a foreign administrator, all to come crumbling down when we spring a surprise Rogare on them. (Educated and leveled up of course).

Lets just ask her for directions, no one is going to doubt Ser Richard and Lord Malarys when the come knocking in the night.

Yes, make it clear that we're not just offering bodyguards or wards against poison or something like that.

Make it clear that Viserys Targaryen is willing to protect them.

I think it's clear enough. The best sales pitch will be her visit to SD and a short chat with the like of Alinor, Gerold or Uthero. Especially Hermetia would be good.

People tend to go places in our vicinity.
