They are definitely to weak to rule Lys, especially with a 6 year old as the head of house, but that's not what I meant. Associating with them opens doors to other houses of lesser esteem and wealth, who are also prime targets for sweet promises of power and recognition.

She is a gate opener. Her name and contacts might be worth little in the grand scheme of things, but it's a way for us to get educated warm bodies for our local government, who will be rather grateful for their elevation in position.

And full protection is obviously part of the deal. Resurrection package if needed (yes, they are worth it), education if desired and Fire and Blood for everyone who looks at them funny.
I don't see why this can't be accomplished with her family safely in Sorcerer's Deep. She just expressed concerns of attracting the attentions of the more powerful magisters. She literally hides her eyes to go unnoticed. I think the offer would be well-received.

And I never said we couldn't relocate her. Three Greater Ribbons and her current home would make a wonderful base for Maelor, Glyra and other infiltrators.

We just need her to make a few social calls for us now and then, but there is no reason for her to stay in the same timezone afterwards.

Perfect arrangement. :)

We're going to need her charactersheet, a conversation about what goals she has for her house, what her brother and sister want to do, what magic items she might like, what kind of PC work she is and isn't willing to do, etc.

She's pretty damn good loot for this encounter.

Am I the only one who is amazed that she was wearing colored contact lenses? If not crafted magically, their existence implies extraordinary levels of manufacturing sophistication somewhere on Planetos.

Even with magic, such as Fabricate, the mage would need a great deal of skill and knowledge to produce a useable product.

We need to include those as part of our disguises in the future.

In the meantime since we just saved their city and they are still in a shit state we should be able to gain the loyalty of most of the Lys nobility.

I don't quite think it'd work quite that well? The Lys nobility are mostly opposed to us due to the slavery issue, in fact very actively opposed. Even if we 'saved' their city, that's still going to be a huge issue. Plus the whole surrendering without a shot to a foreign conqueror thing.

Y'all underestimate the setting.
Given the mistaken assumptions this very thread (GM included) made regarding thermobaric explosions just yesterday, I don't think this is actually true.

Conversely, we're not the ones at fault here. The ASOIAF setting is alternatively spastic and autistic about what science and technology exists. It's entirely GRRM's fault.

Yeah, she's a great find. I think Viserys should acknowledge his luck in finding her, and I do feel House Targaryen owes her house something of a debt, since they were seemingly left to their ruin.

Maybe admitting that she seemed skilled and savvy and were already hoping to employ her if we could convince her to leave Lys, but upon finding that she's Lysene nobility and a cousin, albeit one very distant, we're only more interested. Full offer of protection and education for her entire family, as well as arranging for opportunities for her house, in addition to normal employment? We can discuss details after the messages have been delivered and the current state of high panic is reduced to medium panic as it becomes clear they don't need to run to deal with the whole tree thing.

Those are issues that can be fixed.

What was the name of the proper tool for that again?

Ah, yes. "The Night of the Long Knives".

The Leshy will feast well.

She's already expressed a vested interest in magic. The offer of the same magic items we give to the other baby adventurers should make her very interested. Also, a gift of a few thousand IM to to get her house up and running again, and to firmly cement loyalty to us.

That needs to be timed well as it's a wake up call for any slaver still napping.
With the possibility of taking over Lys in the lyseni way, by poison and murder instead of war, we could theoretically time it to take Myr and Lys simultaneously.

Tyrosh should be settled down enough that we can divert troops from there, yet we should still look very busy and our grip on the city shaky. A few vocal but ineffectual nobles opposing us would be perfect and we can spread a few rumors to appear weaker then we are.
The Legion prepares a surprise attack on Myr and when they are ready, we thin out the lyseni nobility and the victorious faction just happens to recognize the wisdom of our rule.

No time for anyone to wake up, since they will be either dead already or marching to the gallows by the time everything becomes known. No chance to appear weak after such a move though. Pretty much everyone, both in Westeros and Essos, will go in full panic mode if we pull that off.

The rustle of leaves is your only answer. Perhaps Shara had been affected harder than you assumed. It is only a tree, after all, however large... and magical.

Perhaps my sense of scale is slightly skewered after all, you admit in the silence of your own thoughts. "It's perfectly safe to come down, the danger has been dealt with," you try again.

This time you spot her head though the branches. "Safe..." she seems short of breath.
Lets just take a moment to appreciate the scene.

We fightened her so hard she has literally bolted up a tree, like a freaking cat.
"Everyone sober enough to hear thunder and see lightning is going to want to investigate that, and I'm betting half of them will bring torches."
We should probably bring in some Legion troops.

Maybe half a cohort or so? A lieutenant and four squads.

Hostages. Take sons/daughters of the ruling class to SD and they are forced to be loyal..also mind control right? We can totally do that.

I need to finish the writing up the military reorg, just to solidify the terminology. I have a draft about 40% done, but I need to stop finding other things to do with my free time.

I think seeing soldiers here would send the wrong message, and wouldn't actually add much to our own combat potential. We don't need to puff up with ceremony and backing of soldiers, the tree has (accidentally) done that for us and we're in the awkward position of needing to put them at ease, instead.

There is also that weird moment where she just moves, but doesn't answer.

My guess at what happened there:
Viserys: "I made a better perch for you."
Share: *thinks* 'OHMYFUCKINGGODSHEISSTILLTHEREANDTALKINGTOME'

She has a healthy sense of self-preservation. Signs point to rogue. :V

That means handling/supporting 3 cities in a very short timeframe. Better make sure our credit line holds. Or we don't need one. Otherwise, :D

Also keep in mind what we are asking her to do.

In Pentos, we made a huge ruckus by assaulting the private manse of one of their ruling class with enough fireworks for a war. So their prince chap came to investigate.

Not so here.

We made a fuck-huge ruckus and are now politely inviting the lyseni ruling class to ground zero of that event, so that we can talk.
We are ordering the ruler of a city-state to come to us for a nice little chat, like a king graciously granting his subject an audience.

This is why I wanted to add Malarys. He is a smooth enough operator to unruffle the feathers after we act as if we are the one in charge of this city.
