So, no one reads the vote at all.

We will be telling the major dojo to introduce us to the Important People as we did to that guards woman, inquire about a warded place and then tell them we are a King from the Material.

That's not fucking "blurting it out".

Don't care.

There's nobody in that building I believe is the "right" person to tell this information at this time.

We have no fucking idea what obligations they have in relation to information in regards to PoB.

There could be a pan-genie agreement to rediscover it despite all other differences.

We. Do. Not. Know.

Why is everyone scrambling to make ignorant decisions?

Pretending?

We are a merchant, we are also a King. Seeing as we are here for trade and not military alliances etc it's in fact more accurate to say merchant.

Misleading through omission is still deceiving someone. Will the target of our deception think well of it? If these were Djinn, probably. Some would probably get a kick out of the whole king incognito thing. Shaitan? I don't think so. I think they'll be embarrassed that they treated with a king improperly, and since we did not tell them, this loss of face is reasonably our fault.

They already owe us a concession, due to the debt they have towards us from saving their guard captain and the diplomatic mission. How can we let them know we have such valuable information, without giving them the information? How will we get in a negotiation with someone important enough to deal with this matter, instead of being led to a junior member of the family who thanks us and says "pick your reward from this list, the majordomo will see you out?"

Not telling them is a mistake, and will throw unnecessary roadblocks in our way to even getting to the negotiation table. A table we will be escorted to immediately and promptly if we do tell them.
These are all valid points no one seems able or willing to address.

It will "work itself out". Even with the GM saying twice things aren't, in fact, as simple as some are saying. The GM himself has said even a very powerful merchant is a long fucking way from "King", at least in the Shaitan's view.

But no, harming ourselves through paranoia, to the point of gainsaying the GM, is the current course of action. Of course it is.

Be real about the argument, I was fine with your vote sans Plane of Balance. I even voted for it, tagged you and asked for that simple change, still including being named King.

Your plan is effectively blurting it out, because it locks us into a course of action which may end up being against our best interests.

I want to reveal to them that we are from the Plane of Balance. It was me that even broached the subject days ago of using this opportunity to share it in a manner of our choosing.

I fully expect us to do that before we leave here, but I don't think we should try to wrap it all up in a single action vote. Let's get introduced, get at least a minor read on who we are dealing with, and then decide IC to make the reveal, when it makes sense to do so.

Hey, we'd get more from the rich noble Shaitans than Aberi and Relath right?

Also man I really hoping that ship makes it back to the Saltpans and keys everyone know how awesome SD is

I'm with TNE on this, and that aside, this isn't as big a secret as we are making it out to be. You think we're the only ones on Planetos who have went beyond? Fuck, we know for a fact that Zherys has dealings with Baator, and yet, we're content to assume we have some sort of monopoly? Seriously, you think Westeros and a small part of Essos is all there is to the Plane of Balance? Has everyone forgotten Asshai, the Fey, the Mind Flayers?

Planetos, the Plane of Balance, it is bigger than us. It is bigger than the Narrow Sea. I honestly feel like our ambitions have blinded us to just how huge the world is.

At the very least offer our proper title - King.

A large portion of that has been addressed in depth, particularly the Deep Ones, Demons and Devils argument which IMO has been thoroughly shown to be a false comparison.

Link where, please. I honestly don't see how, unless you try to doublethink it as "oh, it's okay if those three know... and the Fey™... and whatever the fuck Asshai has been up to... and the rest of Planetos that we don't even know about, even as we have this hilarious idea that our little corner of it is all that it is...". I know hubris is one of the pitfalls of being a dragon, but does the thread have to go balls deep on it too?

Considering the lack of usefulness of the devil assassin amulet, is anyone up for selling it? I mean, it's basically +2 int and... nothing of value

Abilities :
  1. +2 intelligence (+4 to creatures with the Lawful and Evil Subtypes)
It's +4 for Malarys. He's cleric, but it would helpful.
So it is that Sorcerer's Deep is credited with a great many things that had never been grown, brewed, and distilled in the Stepstones, partly because its simple descriptive name tells one very little... and partly because you will be damned if you pass on a good word for any Myrish or Lyseni trader that happens this way by some unfortunate chance
I adore that merchantilism of Viserys.

382d6 of damage -> average of 1337 HP on a direct hit
Did you calculate this everything specifically to end with such a perfect number?

No, he doesn't have LE subtypes, he's just a regular human with that alignment.
Subtypes means Outsiders, like Devil or Rakshasa.

... Or Braavosi keyholders! :V

Wow this vote is hard, hm, perhaps add a clause hinting at a great secret which we will reveal about our kingdom when we have found our bearing in this new plane?

I would rather to reveal ourselves to the Sultana and only if we get an advantage from doing so. I would reconsider dealing with this family only if they are worthy enough of being decent people.

Was at work.

I think there's more but obviously it's easier to find my own and Crake's was easy to remember being a few posts away from my own.

Demons and Devils must be called, they're like a shitty relative, super annoying when some ass invites them to the picnic but they aren't going to pop over for a cup of sugar on their own perogative.

Deep Ones don't work well with anyone, they're busier than most of our available enemies and quite restricted in number, we can actually put a dent in their numbers which isn't true of nearly any other Planar organisation plus they will definitely not share.

I also should have stated at the time that Devils and Demons take 99 years to reform so unless they make the unlikely decision to return home and hope to be called again we are likely to catch and kill them and they will tell no tales for 99 years or more (Sacrifices).

That's the crux of it, really. The Devils have to operate by strict rules. The Demons operate by no rules, which will for sure rustle plenty of jimmies.

The Deep Ones are out for themselves, only themselves, and their long-running plans include, at a guess, nothing short of conquering... everything, so that everyone is food for them.

The genies are all organized, numerous and well equipped. We can't compete with any of them right now, whereas our main foes we might have a chance at thwarting, long enough for more Elminsters, Blackstaffs and such and so on to start popping up and taking some of the load off our backs.

If they don't try something stupid like "slay the dragon" first, that is. In which case, fuck our luck.

You forgot that a called demon that frees himself / is set free is free to do as he sees fit. That includes starting a demon cult and opening permanent gates to the Abyss. Same for devils.
Pressing deep ones will in no way cause them to look how to bolster their numbers, like, by instigating cults for example.

Deep Ones are already doing that? They're called Sahuagin, they need humanoids not humans and human cults to them would be stupid when they can just be in charge of regular non-cult society, much less objectionable.

Devils and Demons that free themselves can and will be destroyed, Gates are not easy and are quite obvious as we learned with the Mantarys quest. Even then, close it and clean up.

You can't close a Genie's ability to Planeshift.

Asshai, I don't know but they clearly are not an expansionist society, at least not in this stage, quite a bit of what we know about them shows them to be quite isolationist in fact, or too busy fighting themselves.

DP has stated a few times now we are at the top of the Planetosi heap magic wise, we have only recently got the ability to travel Planes, I think people feel the ability is more common than it is because we got a free portal early on.

Also remember we had to ask the Angel for a travel feather despite knowing the planes exist and having the ability to travel them.

Asshai may not be expansionist(as far as we know), but that doesn't mean there might not be people there with as much or more magic than we have. This is the same Asshai where Melisandre claims to hail from(or where she learned her hax), the same Asshai that would have had a head-start on the rest of Planetos(though for all we know there might be similar such cities in Ulthos or Sothoryos or some continent we haven't even heard of, let alone seen).

Also, when was the last time DP even said that? I'm also quite sure he did not say at the literal top, but among the top, because the first would make no sense in the context of someone we know is stronger, and that is Bloodraven. We have no clue who else might be out there that's at his level. The crux of the matter is we have no clue how far Planetos actually stretches, it might just be Sothoryos and Ulthos that stretch on and on, or there might be some sort of Americas type deal, we simply do not know.

I think it beyond arrogant of us to assume we're at the top of the shitheap and rest on our laurels, seeing as people like Bloodraven were out there long before Viserys was even a twinkle in good ol' Mad King Aerys' eyes. From the locales we know, there's Leng and its god-empresses who consort with Old Ones, Yi Ti with its ancient history and lore(and this absolutely batshit monster), Valyria and whatever remnants survived, like what few liches might have persisted past the Doom. I feel it's pertinent I mention Asshai again, cause seriously, Asshai.

We might be near near and around the top of Planetos, but to assume we are the best is pure hubris.

Like sausage and law making...
It wasn't pretty.

Context: someone voted to abstain rather than not cast a vote.
