Sorry for beating this horse again, but can we deal with Dracolich this turn? We need the tower for Tyrosh, and if we do it one month before D-Day then whatever mess the Dracolich leaves behind when we evict him will probably not have enough time to fix itself.

I don't care if we need to get Vee to bodily shove Yss through the portal, its high time the damned squatter got evicted. Yes, Yss will have seen the inside of the tower... but nothing terrible will come out of it. The Snek knows better than biting the hand that feeds him...

Edit: Dracolich would be a nice snack for the Snek, now that I think about it. It would probably leave him with a semester long indigestion though.

I was seriously hoping to make a deal with Bahamut to reincarnate it as a young gold. Imagine the lore we could get if that all worked out.

But that would be a long term plan. If we could get it to agree with aiding stabilization of the wards during teleport somehow rather than fight it, that would be much nicer imo.

[X] Agree

If we remind the Volantines of our existance we might as well go an loot/eat their god-echo next turn.
It's a very short action, only needs a small group, strong enough to throw down with the Zherys/Azer/Astronomer/Snakehead party.

Dany, Richard, Vee and Garin or Waymar should suffice.

> Head sized energy fields are a delicacy wasted upon the likes of the Old Blood of Volantis. I'm supportive of an expedition the turn after this one we're about to start.

You ask because you believe in another concept wholeheartedly in these matters of state: preemptive strikes.
[X] Agree. Considering my current reputation, would you mind terribly if I were to work with you and Liset to review the letter before it is sent?

So... 1st month of the New Year, first week of celebrations that we really don't need to attend to except for the first, third and the last.

How about we have someone our size wear a ribbon of disguise to impersonate us and go Illyrio hunt on free days?

Then we can do PoA for the next week up to the third with Tyene, while Lya works on the dracolich with Malarys and Dany at the same timeframe giving us the fourth week free for Waymar?

Then Merling temple building for the 2 weeks of the next month?

Or we can have Runestone at the first week of the second month and the second week to fetch Breath Taker just in time for the final temple consecration since we can get it worked on end of this new month?

Last two weeks of the second month though, Tyrosh must fall.

In this situation Viserys had a point to the meeting that he wanted to get to, so even if she wasn't just trolling him, he didn't want to get distracted.

Yes, Viserys is capable of setting aside his desire to speechify in order to get the job done... at least when I'm not the one crafting the vote.

Should we consult our lawyer?

What better way of shutting up old bloods than with ancient laws? We just have to one up them on tradition.

Volantis does not well-love the Dragonlords. Even less when they are actually Dragonlords in truth. They viewed the Targaryens as wayward exiles, seeing as how they had the initial temerity of trying to reconquer Western Essos not long after the Doom, all without Aenar's hand playing a part in their successes. And when they decided that the status quo had to change and finally attempted to approach Aegon Targaryen in a bid to see through their ambition (and probably plot to kill him after he used his dragons to do the dirty work), their impression of our House in particular fell further.

Standing on any sort of rightful claim that they should kneel in fealty to us due to our lineage is laughable, because they have never been concerned about tradition beyond what directly empowers their elitist social class and contains outside influence from people who have grown more powerful over the course of centuries off the backs of trade rather than blood ties. And losing that battle until recently (thanks, Zherys).

If Zherys was truly interested in seeing Essos unified under a strong power, he would have approached us when we struck that non-aggression act. What he is interested in is what pretty much everyone in Volantis in a position of influence is interested in. Supremacy across the remnants of the Valyrian Freehold, reunified... under Volantis. Volantis first.

We're permitted into the Black Walls because there's enough people in power that recognize denying us access would spit on precedence, and likely more internal struggles as families maneuvered to gain our favor and leverage our track record against their enemies among the Old Blood.

Part MDCLXXVI: The Road in Gold and Iron Paved
The Road in Gold and Iron Paved

First Day of the First Month 293 AC

The captain of the Lusty Maid, whose ship is set to head to Tyrosh, Myr, and then on to Volantis, takes the letter the twins have penned from your hands readily, though you suspect he might like to know precisely what he is carrying if only to to boast of it properly on his last visit through the taverns.

"This won't be getting me and the lads in any trouble, will it, yer grace?" the man asks. Practical as well then, just as you expect from your captains.

"No," you assure him, having divined the answer to this very question. "Merely hand it off to your agent in the city and be about your business."

With a tip of his feathered hat, the likes of which it seems half your officers are wearing these days thanks to Moonsong's example the man sets off.

Thus you return to your books for the past month. Taxation and harbor fees are the same as last month, though with the ever increasing population you expect to see a jump soon as you administrators catch up with all the newcomers and take the rightful share of their newfound prosperity. Perhaps some day you will even be able to handle all your expenses from what your fief produces, like a 'proper lord.' With an amused shake of the head you dismiss the thought. Proper lords are not funding a mage's academy.

Sorcerer's Deep Population increases by 600

Everfire Dale Founded (population 350)

Gained 550 Gold from Taxation

Lost 1195 Gold in Upkeep

Income from raiding is also surprisingly holding steady, showing that the magisters have likely reached the limits of what they feel they can do to deal with your ships without antagonizing you. In this at least you are glad for the fearsome reputation your foes have seen fit to tar you with, just as your captains no doubt are to see merchant ships lower their colors as they often do the moment it becomes clear that boarding is inevitable.

Gained 784 Gold from Raiding

Surprisingly trade seems to have yielded less of a profit this month just as you were extolling its virtues to the Greyjoy siblings. Then you recall the shadow silk you decided to take off your captain's hands rather than sell it on last month. That would account for most of the difference right enough, not to mention shuffling the fleet around to allow the galleons to fill the task of trade for which they are more fitting in most respects.

Gained 534 Gold from Trade

How have you rearranged your fleet?

"What did you say the fey call these?" Waymar asks as he weighs the coal-black pearl in his hand... his left hand, restored along with the rest of his arm. When held up to bright light it seems to hold a viscous black substance, yet they weigh hardly anything.

"Seeds of Night," you reply, before describing what little the Verdant Vistas clerks were able to tell you about the odd fruits of their trade with the shadow fey of the Orphne. "When used they call up shadows even in the brightest of days, supposedly shadows that only those born of them can see."

Gained 6 Seeds of Night (Thrown Weapons)

"I wonder what my family would say to hear me speak of and meddle in such things?" the young Royce wonders wistfully. "It must seem to them that I have become the sorcerer I was accused of being by inclination as well as fate."

"You became a sorcerer by inclination the moment you decided to use magic to try and save a young girl's life," you counter. "Your studies are no less righteous than deeds, unless one were to count ignorance a virtue."

As you had hoped that draws a smile from him. "Lya would likely lock me in the library until I am old and grey if I claimed that," he jests.

"The remainder of your family will be as glad to see you as your sister was," you encourage him. "And I'm sure they will be most impressed to hear of your deeds besides."

"If they will even believe half of them," he counters still in good humor. Then a short pause. "A good thing I'll have you to help me, your grace, skilled as you are at the telling of tales."

"Are you implying I would exaggerate... or lie?" you ask, feigning affront.

A moment later both of you burst into laughter.

What are your plans for the month ahead?

Tasks, for the turn:

Diplomacy:

[] The Cheesemonger: Who is Illyrio Mopatis and why does he want you dead... or tested? Why would he steal Lya's notes? All questions you would like to ask in person.

Time needed: 5-10 Days
Characters needed: Viserys, Lya (wants to come)

[] A Forge of Flesh: It is time, perhaps past time, that you visit Qohor of the daughters of Valyria, the one who best kept her secret arts, for there is much to be learned there for those who would dare the shadow of the Black Goat... more than even the sorcerer-priests know.

Time needed: 7-10 Days
Characters needed: Vee

[] Songs and Glories: The Lannisters tarnish your name and superstitious fools claim you consort with demons and monsters. Even the foul Deep Ones spoke of making you abhorred, time and past time you picked up the gauntlet at your feet. Walk among the people of the Seven Kingdoms, learn of them, their woes and worries, then gather to you minstrels to sign true songs of your deeds.

Time needed: Player Choice
Characters needed: Viserys, Tyene, Garin, Glyra or Dany

[] Return of the Wandering Son: For over two years Waymar Royce has been your loyal companion, and an exile from the lands of his birth. While you cannot see that he is given the honor he deserves yet, you can travel in secret to those lands that he may look upon his kin... and you can gather support from the Royces and perhaps other lordly houses of the Vale of Arryn.

Time needed: 5-8 Days
Characters needed: Viserys, Waymar

[] Journey to the East: With the waves you have been making in the Stepstones, it would not go amiss to send envoys to the Free Cities to solidify alliances or seed the ground for conquest.
-[] Write in City

Time needed: 2-5 Days
Characters needed: Any (Some companions make better envoys than others)

[] The Man Lost in Time: That Malarys Vanor, born of lost Essaria is a powerful sorcerer you know from your battle against Tiamat and his former comrades. But what else is he, this war priest and bearer of the law of the Dragonlords of old? What manner of man?

Time needed: 2-3 Days
Characters needed: Viserys, Daenerys, Maelor or Tyene

[] Lore of the Night's Watch: You have but scratched a small part of the Wall's lore, half a castle's in fact. As you have promised to return with aid, you do have the rest of Castle Black's library to finish and perhaps a visit to the oldest and ill spoken of all the Wall's castles... the Nightfort.

Time needed: ???
Characters needed: Any

Magic:

[] A Study in Smoke: Perhaps Waymar and Tyene can make something of the rare spices and arcane aromas you recovered from the Bazaar of Beggars.

Time needed: 8-12 Days
Characters needed: Waymar or Tyene

[] Items of power: Bend all your skills to understanding those enchanted objects you still do not know the purpose of.
-[] Write in preferred items

Time needed: Player Choice
Characters needed: Maelor, Glyra, or Lya

[] Lore of Fire: Study of the text gifted you by the priest of R'hllor could be of great use, particularly if you were to venture once more onto the burning plains beneath the walls of the City of Brass.
-[] Write in who is to learn it

Time needed: 5-10 Days (First level)
Character needed: Any (See above)

Study Quarthi lore: Deep and old runs the Lore of Quarth Gateway between east and west. Long have the Warlocks toiled in the workings of fell magics. Where others faltered, they endured. What secrets might be gleamed from their artifacts and writings? Lya is more than happy to try and seek the answers.

Time needed: ???
Characters needed: Lya

Listening to the Lost: Lya wishes to study the Soul Gem in an attempt to study the fundamentals of soul-magic, hopefully developing a kinder art than that which can be gleamed from the workings of fiends. While her previous efforts have yielded naught but unintelligible whispers, she is certain that more work will see the riddle solved.

Time needed: 6-14 Days
Characters needed: Lya

[] Study Memory moss: Now that you have a steady supply of the strange moss, you can begin the process of refining it into something more immediately useful.
-[] Spell storage potions
-[] Safe memory harvesting

Time needed: 10-12 Days
Character needed: Vee and Waymar or Tyene

[] A call into the Ether: Have to call otherworldly beings as servants, allies, or sources of information. With a better understanding of the tower's wards, the process will not be near as time-consuming.
-[] Write in

Time needed: 8 Days
Character needed: Daenerys

Study spells: Lya wishes to spend some of her time simply learning spells from the various troves of arcane knowledge.
-[] Write in spells

Time needed 1 day per spell
Character needed Lya

[] Magic bound to Matter: Lya could use her more advanced knowledge of enchanting to create more potent enchanted objects
-[] Write in

Time needed: 1 Day for every 200 Gold of the object's price
Character needed: Lya

[] A Child of Unique Circumstances Part III: The final part of the riddle is at hand: How to assure conception by spell or ritual, a working that might serve more purposes than to aid Garin and Selyse.

Time needed: 7-10 days
Character needed Lya or Dany

[] The Queen Awakens: Dany's proposal to use the seed to awaken the Queen Rhaella, empowering it. To give birth to a new being, a fey of the Sky and Sea.

Time needed: 14-17 days
Character needed Viserys, Waymar, Xor or Vee

[] Echo of a Dead God: The gods of Valyria are dead, but an echo of one of the Fourteen lingers on the temple of Meraxes, the Watcher in the Night. Now that an alliance with Zherys is secured, shall this be your first venture together? Do you prefer to claim it for yourself? Or would you rather dare bring a god back to life? You've done it once before.

Time needed: 4-6 days
Characters needed: Daenerys, and Xor, Lya or Maelor

[] The Dragon in the Tower: Amrelath the accursed is still bound inside your tower. A tower that you can get a better use of once he's gone. You failed once to oust him. Perhaps with help, you can get rid of him now?

Time needed: ???
Characters needed: Lya

Martial:

[] Pirate Prince: With the strength of your magic and your friends beside you, you can sweep these seas of slavers or else claim prizes much far too well-guarded for any common raider.
-[] Hunt slavers
-[] Raid for gold
-[] Raid for ships

Time needed: 10 Days minimum (Can be taken multiple times)
Character needed: Any

[] Conquest of Tyrosh: Your kingdom stretches as far as any has in these waters, yet it lacks still the final piece: a fortress set upon these shores in the days of the freehold, a city of almost half a million souls far too many trod underfoot and bought and sold like cattle.

Time needed: ???
Characters needed: Any

[] Horse Lord's Coming: By now the Dothraki under Rhango's banner have arrived in the Disputed Lands. It is time perhaps past time that you further solidify their fealty and see where in you plans the kalasar falls. You might have use of them before the walls of Tyrosh.

Time needed: 3-4 Days
Characters needed: Viserys or Daenerys

Stewardship:

[] Diving for treasure: Many ships have been sunk into a watery grave in these troubled seas, some carrying great treasures which you might better put to use.

Time: 8 Days Minimum
Character needed: Daenerys

[] The Music of Creation: With song and sorcery having remade what has been broken by foul arcane flame the Deep One's spite, turned the Lyre's power to the betterment of your subjects and build great works for your kingdom.

Time: 12 Days
Character needed: Xor, Lya, or Dany

[] Safe Keeping: The beasts you gathered in your travels could do with a sturdier place to hold them, perhaps even a more impressive one for good measure

Time: 8-10 Days
Character needed: Vee

[] A Festival of Founding: Sorcerer's Deep has been on your rule for almost a year now. A celebration of what you have accomplished surely would not be found wanting.

Time: 1 Day
Character needed: Viserys

[] A Home for the Singers: Unlike many of the odd beings you have populated your realm with the Children of the Forest cannot dwell fully alongside man, at least not yet. A place should beset aside for them they they may hopefully grow and prosper.

Time: 5-7 Day
Character needed: Viserys, Daenerys or Vee

[] Trade of Stone: The time has come to meet with the Xorn again and collect the Iron they have gathered as well as iron out a long terms agreement.

Time needed: 1-2 Days
Characters needed: Viserys, Daenerys, Tyene or Vee (Must have Plane Shift and Teleport Available)

[] Into the Endless Sky: with the Plane of Molten Skies likely too dangerous to enter for at least some of your company, perhaps it is time to use the Deva Feather to seek kinder realms in the domain of air.

Time needed: ???
Characters needed: Viserys, Daenerys, Tyene or Vee (Must have Plane Shift and Teleport Available)

Piety:

[] Hail to Glory Most Ancient: Dany tells you she can try to teach others who bear the Dragon-blood to call on the glory and might of those Most Ancient... save one. It would be perilous for mind and spirit both, but great too would be the rewards.

Time: 40-50 Days
Character needed: Daenerys

[] The Gods of Earth, Stone, and Tree: The Old Gods have been fair and more than fair to you. Tis only fitting then that you wet the roots of the Godswood further with the blood of those who would imperil your coasts.

Time 3 Days
Character needed: Vee

[] Commune with the Last Greenseer: Over his long and storied life, Brynden Rivers, last of the Great Bastards, has been many things: counselor of kings and leader of armies as much as worker of fel magics. In many things might his counsel be of use.

Time: 5-7 Days or 1 Day (Travel by staff)
Character needed: Any

[] The Landwarden of Lys: Bloodraven have an answer on what to do with what lies beneath Lys. Grow a Heart Tree and convince the tortured unliving being to bond with it fulfilling the purpose as it's true nature was to be.

Time: 6 Days
Characters needed: Viserys, Vee or Dany

[] Temple to the Lost Lament Part II: A hidden temple will serve to cleanse the canker of the Deep Ones from beneath your keep, but still you would rather have a place where men and the children of the sea can come openly in fellowship to commune with the lord of the waves.

Time: 5-7 Days
Characters needed: Viserys, Tyene, Garin, or Dany

[] Echo of Elder Days: In your wanderings about the isle you have found a most remarkable remnant of a bygone era, an ancient Weirwood Tree turned to stone by the passage of the ages. Perhaps from stone life may yet be coaxed with care and study.

Time: ??? Days
Characters needed: Vee, Lya or Viserys

OOC: Suggestions for more actions are welcome.

And when they decided that the status quo had to change and finally attempted to approach Aegon Targaryen in a bid to see through their ambition fulfilled (and probably plot to kill him after he used his dragons to do the dirty work), their impression of our House in particular fell further.

We're permitted into the Old Walls because there's enough people in power that recognize denying us access would spit on precedence, and likely more internal struggles as families maneuvered to gain our favor and leverage our track record against their enemies among the Old Blood.

I kinda meant just the last paragraph to argue legal guardianship of the twins.

That's a nice summary though, I knew the part about asking our house to lead as it was mentioned earlier in the thread and kind of assumed any history of antagonism was due to rejection.

Offer limb regrow, one curse cast a day for anyone who's up for it now insted when we get regeneration - would give time with Vee :)

Free action; talk to Ser Gerold about options for his missing finger at the very least.

I thought the Viserys and Waymar scene with them joking around was great. It might be the part of me that is extremely happy when Viserys gets to be around friends without anything of consequence really going on beyond examining strange curiosities from afar, or Viserys reassuring Waymar that his family would accept and applaud his efforts overseas.

Now we just have to make sure to cast him in the best light when we finally venture to Runestone.

So here is our Fleet Distribution as it stands right now:

Military Fleet:
1 Unique Flagship: Queen Rhaella
1 Great Galleas: Hunter's Moon
2 Galleys
1 Large Galleon: Moon's Song
9 Medium Galleons
3 Small Galleons
7 Sloops

Trade fleet:
12 Galleys
3 Small Galleons

And this is what it should be after adjustments for this turn.

Military Fleet:
1 Unique Flagship: Queen Rhaella
1 Great Galleas: Hunter's Moon
1 Large Galleon: Moon's Song
14 Galleys
7 Sloops

Trade fleet:
9 Medium Galleons
6 Small Galleons

Maybe some worthwhile actions.

Couldnt we have the raven constructs scout Dragonmont for eggs to save time? Also divination.

Did Daenerys ever find the drakthings(?) nesting there, thats was what she did while Viserys collected Rhaellas bone right?

Malarys should be able to cast planar ally like Daenerys does, so the two of them should cut the time in half atleast.

If we offer any willing outsider of lawful alignment to come to the MP if they swear fealty to teach in the scholarium...

Minor things that will see varying degrees of - as the say in Baator - profit in 0.5-2* years:

  • Draconic snakelings blessed by Yss.
  • Dragoneggs (Rhaella, Aemon, and Brynden could spend alot of time near their egg).
  • Templated Stallion (Requires Lya time.)
  • Dawnfruit, empowerment goodness ??? (Research Arcanum and / or Xor.)
  • Wizarding 101 to increase rate of graduated students (Xor)
  • Sorcerers 101 (Maelor, Viserys)
  • Fey teachers (Glyra to recruit fey)
  • Calling Outsiders to teach in the Scholarium. (Daenerys, Malarys?)
  • Far-Realm Sanity gain embroidery (Because Rhaella need to bond with Xor somehow :V)
  • One hydra for Yss.
  • One hydra for Targaryen crest.
  • One hydra force fed Dawnfruit.
  • Awakened obsidian (anatomically correct) sculptures.
*Not sure if IRL years or quest years though. :wtf:

We should start the initial preparations for Tyrosh. The horselord thing and 'Journey to the East: Tyrosh' should be done pretty soon-ish. Sending us or someone to dragonstone and the dragonmont should also be a priority. I'm also a bit worried about that damned cheesemonger, there's no telling what he's up to, we should investigate him in force.
