I've got the feeling that simply flying over The Wall is not a good idea. Most likely, just like it's shadow over the water there's some shit up above to stop those who specifically have air as their domain from crossing over.Or just ignoring the gates entirely and hopping over the Wall. That would be a shock.
The wards of the Wall are something I'd rather not mess with when we've got squishy Rhaella and endangered Children in tow, for the same reason that you flat-out refused to consider bringing Rhaella to see the giants. There is no way in hell the Wall isn't warded against things flying right over it. Plenty of Winterborn have wings. The Peryton, the Others' ice dragons, etc. Getting passage from the Night's Watch and passing through the gates is safer by far.Or just ignoring the gates entirely and hopping over the Wall. That would be a shock.
Then we should COUNTER that, for fucking once. I see all this bitching about the rumor mill, but we've never once that I recall devoted any actions to spreading true rumors.
That's happening next run. We are devoting a block of time for the Great Westerosi Pub Crawl and Propaganda Tour, where we will introduce ourselves across the Seven Kingdoms, impress the locals, heal the sick, and be all around cool dudes. Word will hopefully spread.
I'm almost hesitant to mention this, but Soft Strider has ranger levels, she is the most formidable of them.
I'm not sure if the old god would count killing and reincarnating someone as kinslaying, at least not when they willingly agree to it.That hits the kinslayer clause, since he's our relative. Someone else has to kill him, and not on our orders.
And I think flying at all greatly increases our risk. It's not about altitude, it's about the metaphor. We're dealing with magic beings who have a metaphysical connection to air. Flying through it, be it 3 inches above the ground, or 3 miles, opens us up to attack.
I'd prefer to travel on the ground, first to the Fist, and then to Castle Black.
I'm not sure if it's really fertility that's the problem, the problem might be that so many of them have been killed that their genepool is too small for long term survival.I don't think so. If that was all it took, there would be plenty of CotF already.
"I don't have time to die; I'm too busy"- Goge Vandire.@Diomedon, regarding the Bloodraven thing, is there anything stopping him from killing himself so we're not even remotely a kinslayer? That seems like the obvious solution which has been all but ignored. And the Old Gods don't give a damn about suicide to boot.
Once he's dead we can easily bring him back.
They're kind of cool for willing sacrifices after all.I'm not sure if the old god would count killing and reincarnating someone as kinslaying, at least not when they willingly agree to it.
Lya could probably create a ritual similar to Clone, and then cut away a tiny part of their soul like we did for the Orphne cloak.
@DragonParadox would empowering bioconstructs with parts (XP) of a PCs soul be a avenue for more ethical Seekers?
I'm not sure if it's really fertility that's the problem, the problem might be that so many of them have been killed that their genepool is too small for long term survival.
And that can't be solved with extra fertility, we would need to create COF unrelated to them to fix that.
That's not really the problem we're discussing, it's how to get him out of his oaths to the Night's Watch.I don't think getting Bloodraven out of the Roots will be as easy as killing him. He is part of the network and as the singers show that can work long after death.
Either he'll have to negotiate with the OGs once they are calmer and propably offer a replacement, or we'll have to fight to get him free.
I'd say he knows best, unless he asks for it we don't intervene here. And once he does we follow Dany's lead.
Bah, he's some kind of Tree-Lich.The vows are "Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death." So we've got a pretty clear path to release him from his oaths. But then there's this convoluted dance to avoid being a kinslayer either personally or through proxy when we can just get Bloodraven to do it himself. It's as simple as that. It isn't kinslaying in the slightest.
The wood walkers of Ifequevron may be able to help us with this.I'm not sure if it's really fertility that's the problem, the problem might be that so many of them have been killed that their genepool is too small for long term survival.

Maybe we can defeat the Others once and for all? That certainly helped in that Robert quest. That's not really the problem we're discussing, it's how to get him out of his oaths to the Night's Watch.

The power source for Seekers isn't the unethical part. That's just spirits of utmost Law, maybe Modrons or Axiomites or something similar. The issue with Seekers, and other Valyrian Bio-Constructs, was that they are made from unborn fetuses taken from slaves who were impregnated for just that purpose.
- Leaf to Bran StarkMen should not go wandering in this place. The river you hear is swift and black, and flows down and down to a sunless sea. And there are passages that go even deeper, bottomless pits and sudden shafts, forgotten ways that lead to the very center of the earth. Even my people have not explored them all, and we have lived here for a thousand thousand of your man-years.[3] "
