@Azel, let's avoid talks about the Seven if we can.

DP rated this:

insightful for a reason. Emphasis on monster slaying and protecting the world, take the spotlight away from religion.
That's only a response if she brings it up herself, which is likely. If you don't want to talk about the Seven, don't talk to their Paladins.

There's a reason why I'm giving her this particular question too.

Alright, but at least encourage Dany to make friends. That is our single greatest key to Brienne.

I'd have been a touch more circumspect about bringing up the whole 'The seven think we're an abomination' thing, but otherwise excellent work. Azel is right that we need to have something in place if she brings it up, because leaving it out of things doesn't mean refusing to speak on it at all, that simply wont work long term. The important thing is not to bring it up ourselves.

Do you think Brienne would say to our face that we are a abomination that should be killed? ;)

What about a combat situation where there are otherwise neutral or friendly fey near him where they suddenly see he has a cold iron weapon? The +1 Fiery Hand sword might work better.
How do you think weapon-using Fey roll?

Ironically, Fey are liable to have the most Cold Iron.

Not giving him a proper weapon on that ground is silly. Your situation just means he won't be seem as a threat at all, someone to be played with.

Honestly guys? Perfectly happy with Sneak Attack. It's by far the hardest of any of these listed to get, especially in such a great progression.
  1. Mantle would have been: nondetection/blur effect/invisibility depending on the number of successes
  2. Senses would have been: blindsense/blind-vision/constant see invis
Vote closed.
Vee's mod was +42 I think, so it'd take a 18+ (or a Nat 20 if you are also comparing the units) to get the See Invisibility?

Did we get everything there was to be gotten from the Tools?

@Goldfish, @TotallyNotEvil, @DragonParadox

So correct me if I'm wrong: The characters who have not had their character sheets changed to reflect their level ups are Maelor, Xor (8 -> 9) Glyra (10 -> 11), Richard (12 -> 13) and Garin (11 -> 12), correct?

And the ones who have not had a plan voted for and agreed upon already are Glyra, Richard and Garin?

DP did say that she gained a level when Maelor did.

@Duesal You've kept track of the latest run of votes, right? Did we agree on something for Xor and Maelor? I don't know for sure.

I think there might already be a preliminary Maelor plan from earlier, but it might be his previous level up plan which I'm not sure was ever implemented.

I have a Garin level up kicking around from a few days ago. TNE didn't like the spell selections, though I didn't see what was wrong with them.

The one I started for Richard was basically blank. Need martial maneuver input for it.

Changes in green.

[X] Plan Foundations
-[X] Take Dany and Richard along. Make it clear to Dany that you are not collecting a friend for her, but have other reasons to talk to Brienne.
-[X] Speak with her about her faith and, if she is willing, the revelation that gave her her powers. Don't judge or offer opinions, just listen carefully and take her serious.
-[X] Ask her what she wishes to do now. You have seen few who awoke to such power that where content or able to live a quiet life afterwards.
--[X] If she expresses that she will do what her father says or thinks best: "And yet you prayed for the strength to battle fiends, which your father certainly would have not approved of. I myself made common cause with a Baratheon, my sworn enemy, to fight them. To honor family and oaths is a important thing and yet they are not all made equal. If the darkness comes to Tarth, will you truly stand back and watch others fight?"
--[X] "We have only known the wars of men for so long that we forgot what else lurks outside our homes. The same tide that brought us our gifts has carried them along again. I see it as my duty to fight those who seek nothing but our ruin wherever I find them. I do hope you have many peaceful years before you, but I need to portents to know that you will one day face something that you will not be able to let stand. Know that you will be not alone if you decide to take up arms against on that day."
-[X] Give her Waymars PfE and have Leila make a replacement while he is still a starfish: "Something more tangible then platitudes I wish to give you. A warding against the creatures of the pit and against those who wish to muddle your mind. I've seen to many who prefer to believe that no monsters are out there, even when the evidence stares into their faces. Likewise, the Devils are a vengeful bunch and I can not leave you in good conscience without offering some aid to you. Nothing I want in return, but the knowledge that it will serve a good purpose."
-[X] As a parting: "Should you ever find yourself in need of a safe haven, my gates are always open to those who come as friends. We have to stand united against what is coming or we will succumb."
-[X] If she asks your opinion on the Seven: "Many heartfelt prayers I have send to them when I was your age and yet they never answered me. I'm glad that you where granted their aid in your hour of need and yet I must admit little love for them after all the times my pleas where met with silence. Do you think they hate me for who I was born as the septons like to claim about my family?"

And I've seriously got 7 name-votes before even posting a plan?

Thank you! Waymarfish won't miss his while a new one is being crafted.

I never found anything for Maelor, but Xor has this:
Does Xor get to learn two new spells, now that he's moving up to a new spell level? Or do they have to come from those we already have knowledge of?

Preliminary level up plan for Xor. Thoughts or suggestions?

Just wait for our outside perspective interludes of our actions.

Pretty sure most people are weirded out by our wise king shtick, because one has to wonder if its just an act given our apparent youth or if we're generally just better than most Lords decades our elder.

Which we are, objectively speaking.

Given our knowledge skills, we are pretty much the embodiment of Marc Aurels ideal of a philosopher king. Most of the time though, we are Teddy Roosevelt. "Speak softly and carry a big stick be a Dragon."

Part MDXCVIII: To Speak of Gods and Devils
To Speak of Gods and Devils

Eleventh Day of the Twelfth Month 292 AC

Upon your return to Tarth in the company of the 'brothers' Baratheon, you are greeted with a company of stormlords relived to the last to see their lord return safe and sound from the dragon's den, though some hide it better than others. It is fortunate perhaps that he who wears the face of Renly Baratheon is so skilled in deception that few would see the weariness and sadness 'neath the ready smile. As for Stannis... you suppose he is fortunate that his reputation precedes him and none expect any great show of joy from him. Still, he does himself no favors in seeming ungrateful to the man who paid his ransom, the same man who will soon abdicate in his favor. To see the world through others' eyes is clearly not his gift.

Under other circumstances you might have stayed and tried to steer the conversation to in some way aid him, but traitor and pretender as you are in their eyes, the moment's camaraderie aside, there is little enough that you can do here. So instead you speak to lord Selwyn of Tarth on a rather delicate matter: "If you would allow it, my lord, I would speak to your daughter, for it worries me to see a child make foes of fiends and I would offer what advice I can give in the matter."

"I appreciate the thought, my lord," he says awkwardly. "However, whatever my daughter's gifts she will be protected here in Evenfall Hall..."

"Lord Selwyn," Dany speaks for the first time solemnly. "Do not assume that this can simply be brushed aside, nor that the power your daughter has been gifted will wait quietly ten years or more. For certain the devils she sent screaming back into hell will neither forget nor forgive what she has done, and even such petty fiends as they are not lightly defeated with high walls and leal men. If your daughter is to be safe she must know the foe, and better that she learn from us than from cruel experience."

Seven pairs of eyes look upon your sister as though she has grown another head, something she must sadly be used to by now. Then finally Stannis breaks the silence. "You would be well served listening, too... We all might."

"Well said," the changeling agrees forcefully. "The gods did not give us such times to live in that we may stopper our ears with wax."

The call draws smiles from the knights present and a glare from Stannis, no doubt for usurping their love and loyalty. You hold back a sigh.

"Very well my lord... my lady," the lord of Tarth eyes your sister as though not knowing what to make of her. "Please follow."

You find Brienne in the courtyard where it transpires the servants had asked that she pray over a place where the cobbles had been seared with devil blood. From her repression it is clear the girl knows there is no further danger here but she did not wish to deny the request. However, when her father calls her aside she comes also without question, and with a spark of not-so-well-hidden curiosity in her eye. To your amusement she looks more to Ser Richard than you or your sister.

Still she listens politely enough to your words regarding the powers of Hell and then the need to fight those who would plot the ruin of all the world and even find allies in unlikely places. "I myself made common cause with a house that is the enemy of mine for the task and would gladly do so again."

You pause a moment then add. "We have only known the wars of men for so long that we forgot what else lurks outside our homes. The same tide that brought us our gifts has carried them along again. I see it as my duty to fight those who seek nothing but our ruin wherever I find them. I do hope you have many peaceful years before you, but I need no portents to know that you will one day face something that you will not be able to let stand. Know that you will be not alone if you decide to take up arms against on that day." All these words are true, yet all are also meant to ensure this girl will not be your foe. You would hate to have to harm, much less slay, one so bold and true whatever the gods she serves.

"You should not seek to shoulder such a burden alone," she offers, sounding a trifle overwhelmed yet still resolute. "Surely the Seven would hear your prayers and aid you in your time of need that you would not need to take up sorcery for the task."

Her father opens his mouth, though whether to support her or offer some excuse you do not know, for Dany speaks first. "Perhaps that is so, but should we lay down the arms in our hands in the midst of battle in the hope of receiving others? What then of those who depend on us to keep back the dark?"

"Many heartfelt prayers I have send to them when I was your age and yet they never answered me," you confess that which you have rarely spoken to another. "I am glad that you were granted their aid in your hour of need, and yet I must admit little love for them after all the times my pleas where met with silence."

"Perhaps the hour was not yet right then," the girl answers. "The gates of a new age have only just opened for good and for ill. As horrors rise from the dark places of the world, so too will the light of the Seven come down to cleanse them."

Though you are only four years her elder you feel centuries older than this child so certain in her faith, and from the look in Dany's eyes you suspect she feels much the same though she is younger in years. Still there is no arguing with belief, still less that which has been validated by revelation. So instead you hand her a silver amulet the twin of the one you bear and say, "Here, something to ensure that your mind stays your own and to ward you in other ways besides against devils and their ilk."

Lost Amulet of Protection from Evil

Brienne takes the small silver disk gingerly, then weighs it in her palm and look at it with the slightly distant gaze of one looking with more than her eyes. "This seems a good... blessing. Thank you."

You smile a little wistfully at your success. You cannot help but mourn the simple innocence that drives her even as you speak words to undermine it.

"My daughter cannot possibly accept..." lord Selwyn finally finds his voice.

"Please my lord, it is a small thing and I would rest easier knowing one who has the enmity of devils holds it," you answer.

The elderly lord struggles with himself for a moment, but in the end his concern for his daughter wins out against his weariness of taking any gifts from you.

While you bid a simple farewell Dany offers something you could not do yourself under the circumstances: "Should you ever find yourself beyond the shores of Tarth and in need of a safe haven, my gates are always open to those who come as friends. We have to stand united against what is coming or we will succumb."

"Thank you once again, I will remember that," Brienne nods solemnly.

And so you leave the island absent one prisoner who you wish well in spite of yourself and twelve-thousand dragons richer in Stormlander coin. One might almost call it an overdue tax, you think with a touch of whimsy.

Gained 12000 Gold

OOC: Once again I needed a break point for thematic reasons. Again this is just a vote for the order in which things will be shown.
