[X] Azel

@Azel maybe add something about how it's you know our job as captor to ensure safe return of the hostage if we get the money? Its what the the system is based on after all. Feel that sort of detached duty would work better than any seeming of caring for Stannis as a person. Not to mention it's true since holy shit the bad optics if we somehow "sell" Stannis to the fey or whatever

Amending plan. Two Divination castings cost 20 IM and half an hour.
We would be just plain lazy to not use that.

[X] Have Dany use the spell Divination to gain some insights before approaching Stannis.
-[X] "How did the person writing this letter learn about the contents of our ransom notice?"
-[X] "Why did that person write us?"
[X] Approach Stannis if the divination fails to yield any usable results.
-[X] Talk with Stannis about this. You've heard that Renly disappeared some time ago and are leery of just agreeing and maybe handing Stannis over to some unknown group who postures as his brother.
-[X] Maybe agree for now, but let Stannis write a letter to Renly to be send along as a sign of good faith and reassurance that he is will. It would be easy to check for an imposter that way.

Maybe make It a rule that we can ask for divinations ooc ? You have done so in the past. But i agree, we are growing too reliant on divination.
You can never be too reliant on divination.
It's seriously one of the best uses for magic, even weaksauce d&d divination (I want the precog we see in Worm!).
Of course, d&d also provides a million ways for a GM to make our divination mostly irrelevant whenever he wants it to be.
But maybe stop bothering to write out the detailed answers of most divination, except when it's absolutely critical?

Poor DP, at this rate, we will get Divination hit with the nerf bat.
If that also applies to our enemies I'm perfectly fine with it. You could fluff it as the strands of fate getting more and more tangled as we approach the possible apocalypse.

It's mostly how the Illithids, Listy, Grey Worm and others used it to great effect against us that we stepped up to their game.
It's the classical arms race between PCs and hostile NPCs. Everything they throw at us, we throw back.

We can for storytelling reasons. And i guess Yss telling us that things "look purple", or it Will be "okay-ish" might make things more interesting.

Definitely, which is why I'm tentatively in favor of applying the nerf bat to the big story things if it's applied equally.

Remember the Illithid assault in that random village?
They used Divination to invalidate our ambush plan and would have utterly scewed us had we not used counter-divination.
I'm perfectly fine with being unable to get the enemy line-up and plans revealed to us as long as that goes both ways, because otherwise we can just bend over and take it like man.

Mentally I've scrapped any and all thoughts about ambushing someone, trying to infiltrate their strongholds or running intrigue against them. They can bust those plans trivially easy with diviniation and as long as that is the case, I will happily abuse those very same mechanics to do it to them.

Yss: Ith looksss purthhple.
<Viserys turns to Xor.>
V: Is this a morality thing?
Xor: Wrong color.

Edit: Actually, orange+blue makes purpleish, so it translates to answers are unsure. :o

As an aside, I wonder how the differences in the Greyjoy rebellion butterflied Jorah Mormont's life. Two key moments in his life were the result of a pretty short time span there, first earning his Knighthood in the Battle for Pyke, and his winning of the Lannisport Tourney.

While Robert could have blabbed it, I think it's more likely Varys or Littlefinger leaked it to weaken the ties between Baratheon brothers.

Man now I really want more rumors. How much do people know about how we keep the fleets ass? Can we have Tyene spend next turn setting up a spy network? Hell not even a spy network so much as "know what people are saying in bars n shit" network. Don't even need the really juicy secrets, layman's knowledge would be good enough

I'm with you guys. This is either a leak by someone playing his own games or...
Robert is making a braying ass of himself...

@DragonParadox, speaking off the talk of dockside taverns. I'm really curious about the latest rumor mill. Can we get one when Glyra and Maelor come back from Tyrosh? Should be tomorrow or so IC time wise.

I second the rumors - with how many ships could 'escape', there should be lot of rumors flying around.
