best left for emergencies
This is pretty much what I'm aiming for here. I'm fully aware of DP's tendency to veto game-breaking elements, so I just want this in reserve for the emergencies, such as a siege, famine, our food supplies being destroyed, etc. For example, remember when we stole that village of beekeepers from the Crownlands after a neighboring lord sent his men to burn the village down and exterminate everyone? Before we got the idea to take everyone to Sorcerer's Deep I was actually going to suggest a few castings of Womb of the Earth to replenish their food supplies and then going off on our way.

We find a starving village? No problem. All we need is a few seeds and a few strong farmhands to get the job done. And then we can just go on our merry way and not waste days on end saving every village we come across.

We're in the middle of a campaign and don't want our army to "live off the land" and raid our future subjects? Problem solved since we can get fresh produce after every night of marching.

Having a years-long cool-down period would be perfect.

I reiterate my earlier point. I would rather the island sink and all the inhabitants end up as fish food if it meant saving 5 to 10 days of Viserys' time this coming month.

And that's how much it would require according to DP.

This shit hole island is not worth it.

Agreed. I'd rather send Tyene and Waymar off to do the job.

Also, we're a bit screwed if we're not there and the dracolich breaks free. We'd have to waste a teleport just to get back to SD.

[X] Goldfish

That being said, @Goldfish, this problem would have been solved if you'd let the ghouls and ghasts rise up and make this a low-level dungeon for baby adventurers.

The island would have to sink, rather than just proverbially, because it's still a rather important strategic location. A underutilized and underappreciated strategic location in Tyroshi hands, but it cuts into their force projection in the Narrow Sea a little if there's no longer an intermediary for their pirate activities around the Step Stones. All that aside, it's yet another port that can be upgraded into a near-ready-made facility for our use, and one that cannot be docked at in order to dodge taxes from dirty dirty abolitionist scum like us.

I know it's not the end-all, be-all kind of accomplishment, but there is some practical benefits to denying all anchorage outside of Tyrosh itself. Even the Tyroshi don't want pirates, even their own, operating out of their port.

We can accomplish this equally well by sending our subordinates in our stead. Not having Viserys personally take over doesn't mean abandoning the island. Viserys time is by far our most valuable and limited resource. It is not worth wasting on Westhaven.

Everyone please reconsider wasting Viserys' time on Westhaven. Time is our most valuable resource, and the one we have the least amount of to spare.

Quibbling about just how much time will get wasted when we plan on delegating anyway is pointless from my perspective. We found no one amongst the locals who could step up, and the candidate that has been suggested is not one I want to pull away at the moment. While Garin would be ideal, unless you guys want to put someone else in charge, my plan seems to be the best compromise towards preserving the lion's share of our time and still keeping things well in hand.

@Goldfish. It's another oppertunity to grab a fleet if Tyrosh does something very very stupid.

And since we will be aggravated due to time costs, and learn our lessons, we are going to be a bit more careful with collection, provided we don't get someone else using an attack as a distraction.

If they do, go to fleet, (with a long range speaking spell), and load up any soilders on as few ships that can fit and take the slaves home for hugs, healing and freedom.

We can just land on the flagship deck and call for a meeting of captains and tell them the plan, someone keeps an eye on the fleet to make sure that no one gets any ideas. One ship will probably try to flee, but we can fireball a mast, or above them, and everyone can extroplate from there.

This does not at all address your concerns, but I thought you might like a silver lining.

We might not have noticed, cuz it was our first conquest, but now I'm seeing a lovely "go getter" attitude from our peeps in SD. I fear that they may have spoiled us in that regard.

Or maybe it was just that Nat 1.

DP literally said this would cost 5 to 10 days of Viserys' time. That after the delegation of duties to others.

We have to:

Commune with the dracolich
Do a bunch of Molten Skies stuff (see off the Xorn, shop a bit, maybe sell Relath's stuff on the black market, and take Aberi's party to Prime Material)
Finish our code of laws
Visit Braavos (pick up Fairwind children, form another trading company, see Sealord, see Silver Eye, see Windward Society, and have our big auction)
And most important of all we need to personally diplomance Salladhor Saan.

We do not have the time for Westhaven. We can leave it to Waymar and Tyene for now.

It doesn't have to be the locals. We weren't even considering the locals in any case. Waymar and Tyene are a good fix for the situation. They can act in our authority and run things for us.

Tyene should be busy, but I'm fine with putting Garin on it with Waymar backup. A third would be best. Vee, for her teleporting abilities and healing?

We already have more ships than we can staff and support logistically. We don't need more right now. And if a fleet shows up, Garin can contact us via Imbued Sending spell. The place is only a Teleport spell away.

Out of curiosity, what potential headaches are you worried will happened if Viserys delegates this task to his party members? Tyene and Waymar are reasonably competent. They're not exactly going to burn the island down while we're gone.

Mmmm, Garin+Waymar+Vee+mundane soldiers (we sent our fleet, remember? They can offload some soldiers) would work, I'd think.

Changing to save a full third of a month (Assuming the plan gets updated).

@Goldfish I want Tyene with Viserys to help with setting up the sellword hunt/most basic news gathering service. Why not swap with Vee, since it looks like she's going to be busy on that island anyway?

Does Tyene have any experience or inclination to do something like that? At least in the next month?

She was our original pick for Mistress of Whispers, she has great cold reading and people skills, and has the spell Whispering Sands, which is our only efficient long distance communication spell (Excellent for keeping track of ships and checking in with factors in various locations, saving Viserys teleportation).

Quibbling about just how much time will get wasted when we plan on delegating anyway is pointless from my perspective. @Crake, I think there's a misunderstanding here.

5-10 days doesn't mean Viserys just so happens to be spending 5-10 days in Westhaven and he gets to do other things during that time like writing up the code of laws.

This is a full-blown action. Viserys staying on the island means that he'll actively be ruling and reorganizing, things that could just as easily be left to party members while we go and do more pressing things.
