Yss might not be jealous, (I don't know how good he is in groups, I mean, it seems he'd get on well with other gods, but we don't actually know), but he does dislike worship of non-gods in general. It's a waste of food from his perspective, I believe.

I don't remember anything like this? Could just be my bad memory, but meh. In any case, we can always just ask him if this god is real or not and if we actually need to worry.

So I know I said I wouldn't do a character like Robert, but seriously, it's random tangents like the above that get my muse running. Anyone have any requests? The engine is still well lubricated.

Yss is the best God.
But yes, he does strongly dislike false gods.
But when did we find out about this? Was it after we fed him the Pleasure Devil and asked him about himself?

EDIT: Never mind. Found it. Wasn't even in an actual update which is why I missed it, but I found it. -_-
Yss dislikes those who break faith with him, false sacrifice (that is sacrificing things that are of no worth) and oddly enough "false gods," that is worshiping a being that cannot grant divine magic (whether it chooses to do so or not).

You can ask for general things.

Ah, good. We'll have a few days to either work on laws, or commune with the dracolich. Attacking your enemies when they're smashed, or immediately afterwards, is a time honored tradition!

So rededicate festival to Yss god of honest dealings a go? (Meanwhile somewhere Bealish is suddenly shivering and doesn't know why (
Actually, that's something we should get around to--organizing festivals in Yss' honor. Preferably after we start getting a few adepts to serve him. The more people who worship him, the stronger and more useful to us he'll be. Also, I'm hoping for some unique festival food for Sorcerer's Deep. :D

Speaking of religion, what are we going to do about R'hllor? He doesn't like any other gods, and practices slavery. He's going to be a pain in our neck, isn't he?

R'hllor... my plan for Burny is simple. Consignment into obscurity. When, eventually, inevitably, we free everyone from slavery, raise standards of living, education and health everywhere five to tenfold and become the patron of specially selected deities known for a combination of fairness, honesty, justice and empathy, Gods like him will fall out of favor.

Sure, eventually with us supporting gasp not just one sect of heretics, but multiple, we'll get the fanatics taking shots at us. And then we'll burn them and or hang them from heart trees and feed their bloody entrails to saplings so we can hang more people from heart trees elsewhere.

Basically there's a lot of burning going on, and also a lot of hanging. Only when we burn people, we'll dedicate it to ourselves, of course.

Meh, if he wants a festival he can mention it.

The stronger he is the more of a danger he is if we do have a fallout eventually. With his Avatar being stronger than a Mallor he propably is already the individually strongest thing on our island, though I'm still hopeful the party could take him.

Viserys: "Alright. A festival for Yss. Any ideas what we should pick as a theme?"
Vee: "Fertility. Makes for a good party and he would like to be remembered a bit more for that aspect."
Viserys: "Given our subjects, that would probably devolve into three days and nights of drunken debauchery..."
Oberyn: "Hi. I've heard you need my advice on something."
Tyene: "What? Where did you come from? And how? Last thing I've heard you where in Pentos last week."
Oberyn: "I'm always there when needed. Now, about that vitally important matter I've come for..."
Tyene: "..."

*wince* Too many echoes of Aerys there.

I honestly doubt Yss will be a problem for us. And even if there is the unlikely fallout, it's probably going to be far, far into the future of this quest.

It's unfortunate that we're a Red Dragon, if we have such severe daddy issues that we're completely turned off from using fire to kill people. It's a perfectly serviceable method to assault others with. If you meant using it for executions, that's why I specifically mentioned hangings. Viserys wouldn't kill someone who's completely helpless to defend themselves with fire.

I pay this version of him the highest of compliments when I say this: He's not his father.

Viserys is fine to use it for combat, but you said dedicating burning people to himself which immediately brought Aerys to mind.

*reads the wiki*

We're in an alternate timeline of D&D where the spellplague ended up having different consequences. aren't we?

My personal theory is that we are actually in the far distant past of the D&D cosmology.

It's mostly supposition, but the biggest hint was Velen's surprise in how Lya used magic. I think it's possible that she literally invented the Vancian Wizardry that's so prevalent in D&D settings.

Oh! Vance should be Lya's surname. How cool would that be? I'm going to start referring to her as Lya Vance.

Maybe. I guess I'm trying to imagine things from the perspective of a True Dragon. Dedicating things to myself would be both frequent and overblown. Burning people and going, 'yeah, that's the ticket' seemed like a no brainer.

Then again, maybe the thought of looking at the screaming, burning enemy before him and thinking "I really like doing that" is exactly what Viserys should try to avoid.

Re: Lya Vance

There is already a House Vance. Might get confusing.

Hmmm, I wonder if R'hllor isn't Asmodeus, but instead Mephistopheles who mastered hellfire and used the spellplague to take over from Asmodeus (and maybe stole a divine spark from someone) The Red priests expressing their god's open ambition in being the only god reminds me of Mephistopheles, and his fire aspect fits better.

If Asmodeus ate Azuth(or some other god) but then Mephistopheles ate the new god in its infancy, it might explain why R'hllor seemingly combines aspects of both (Asmodeus's patience, Mephistopheles's fire and naked ambition). /wild speculation

Velen was surprised about her learning Divine magic the same way she learned Arcane.
That is something that never happened before, to his and our knowledge, with the closest thing to it being old Dragons who could take Divine spells as Sorcerer.

We had no surprised outsiders at the idea of Wizards in general, hell Yrael is teaching a few.

True Dragon or no, a core part of Viserys' character is that he doesn't want to turn into Aerys. Dedicating burnings to himself is an unfortunate step closer to his father's madness.

The slavery part is not a big problem, R'hllor believes that mortals are the slaves of the gods, he's not particularly fond of mortals enslaving mortals, which mean R'hllor just choose a bad name for his mortals should obey the gods belief, the problem is his insistence on being the only god.

R'hllor is more a god of slaves than a god of slavers as it is, after all he believe all mortals are his slaves, so 1 mortal enslaving another must be some form of blasphemy, seeing as that's one of his slaves stealing his property.
